My omelette was topped with odd looking crab that smelled similar to the seafood counter at a supermarket. The omelette was very runny and under cooked. The moat of soup around my omelette was very simply spiced with pepper flakes being the dominate flavor. My wife ordered scrambled eggs and got two eggs over very well. My "Russian Earl Grey" tea was not hot and tasted like stale Liptons with a hint of Earl Grey. This is a review for brunch -- we dined in on a lovely Saturday. There was ample public parking and while the restaurant was mostly filled we were seated right away. The ambiance was welcoming with chill upbeat music and diners seemed to be having a great time. They have an expansive menu of Thai-inspired and American-style dishes / drinks. We ordered the Tom Yum Omlette and Ka-Pow Short Rib Benedict, which were both delicious. The Tom Yum Omlette was perfect in presentation and taste, with generous portions of crab and shimeji mushrooms -- my favorite of the two entrees. The highlight of the Ka-Pow Short Rib Benedict was definitely the fall-off-the-bone short rib (super tasty!) while the benedict itself was solid though not outstanding. The portions are generous and if you're into sharing it would be easy to order 2-3 dishes among friends and do family style. We really liked the coconut rice. The server was also quite friendly and suggested we get a seafood medley - if I am in Hayward again I would consider it! Been super curious about this place before they opened! My husband and I finally had a weekend day to ourselves without the little one and wanted to try this place out and I'm glad we did! Came by on a Saturday around 1145-12pm and it wasn't busy. We were able to get seated right away. They just recently opened so I think business is still picking up for them. Service was nice. They have a good amount of items on the menu for brunch as well as drinks! We weren't walking in to get bottomless mimosas but we decided that if we were going to get at least 2 drinks each, might as well do the bottomless and it was pretty worth it to us. They give you a carafe of whatever flavor you like and you have an hour for bottomless. Honestly, we thought it's be quick but an hour was enough for us two. We got the mango flavor, my husband loved it, it was good but I thought it was a little too sweet, like too much mango syrup or juice, whatever they use. We also got half a carafe of the strawberry flavor afterwards but even though it wasn't as sweet, it did taste a bit too artificial for my liking. Onto the food! The pandan waffle was good but nothing too special about it. We were hoping it was crispy but it came out a little soft. It had a nice pandan flavor to it and you can taste the coconut inside of it. One thing I wish they did was maybe a pandan sauce to go on top instead of the syrup? But that's just me being too picky aha but nonetheless it is worth trying if you love pandan and coconut! We also ordered the crab Tom yum omelette. It was our favorite out of the two dishes. They give you a good amount of crab on top and the flavor of the Tom yum sauce was goood. Tried this place for breakfast today after passing by yesterday. I made a last-minute reservation just in case they were busy. We were greeted by a friendly host and offered a couple seating options. Husband ordered the Ka-Pow Short Rib Benedict and I ordered the two-eggs dish with Moo Krob (crispy pork belly). Both dishes were delicious. I enjoyed the sauce for my pork belly. Hubby's short rib was amazing. I soaked a couple pieces of my pork belly in the short rib sauce...yum! Highly recommend giving this place a try. It may seem a little pricey, but it is so worth it. Ka-Pow Shirt Ribs Benedict - Extremely flavorful. The meat was so tender that the bone pulled right out. The bellpepper was tender, and the long beans still had a slight crunch. The potatoes were super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Benedict was what you would expect it to be. Perfection, 100% would get again. Crabby TomYum Omlete - Definitely had the tomyum taste. The crab was delicious and just the right size. The portion is honestly enough for 2 people, unless you have a high metabolism and a big appetite. There is a 50% chance I would get this again. - About halfway through, I did start to get burnt out on the flavor. I took some of the bell peppers from the ka-pow ribs, and it helped. I think maybe even a little tomato would have even helped a little. This isn't to say that it isn't delicious the way it is, because it was definitely yummy. I think if I was a hard-core crab fan, then this would be heaven. I felt like at some point, the crab was all I tasted, but I also mixed it all up so that I would get a little bit of everything with each bite. Walk-in on Sunday, around 11am, and they were able to accommodate us! Score. We went to this spot because we had it our list of food to try. Never got around to it until this day and we were craving some brunch food. The space was connected by two parts of what seemed to be previously separate stores. The parking situation is a little funky -- street parking across a large road before an intersection. If you get lucky on the street right next to the restaurant, it's easy. Otherwise you'll have to park across the intersection and walk over. They had a lovely set up at the waiting area with an animatronic Santa Claus and a faux greenery backdrop for pictures. Cute for quick pictures. Where we were seated, we got to see the mini bar and also how some of the drinks were being made. It's tucked in the back left corner when you walk in. Our server was kind and efficient, gave us recommendations and explanations of dishes and drinks we weren't sure of. We had an idea of what we wanted to order before arriving. * Stuff French Toast (5/5) * Ka-Pow Short Ribs (3.85/5) * Thai Iced Coffee (4/5) * Roti (5/5) We've had a lot of French toasts before but Khao Hom's takes the cake. Their use of a caramelized bananas... was chef's kiss! We were expecting bananas on top of the French toast but they perfectly layered them into the toast itself which made them so soft. Almost like a banana pudding. Delicious. Presentation was also perfect, fresh fruit with powdered sugar on top -- the usual. We appreciated how they kept the syrup on the side. Some places they drizzle the syrup already. The Ka-Pow Short Ribs was another shocker for us. We had this dish before at another Thai restaurant, but theirs was tough and the flavor was lacking. Khao Hom's short ribs were juicy and packed with the right flavor. It fell right off the bone! The reason we're not giving a higher rating is because of the eggs Benedict. We don't gravitate towards eggs Benedict's as a brunch food, so maybe that's why we didn't care too much for this portion of the dish. It was a very standard eggs Benedict, no flare. We never had Thai iced coffee before so we asked our sever what the difference was compared to a regular Thai iced coffee. He described it as a mix of Vietnamese coffee with Thai tea. We enjoyed this drink! If we could try to describe it, the taste reminded us of the coffee jelly that's put into Vietnamese che desserts mixed with Thai tea and just a touch of coffee. I don't like my "coffee" strong so this drink was great for me. My boyfriend who prefers strong and plain coffee said the drink was also great, not too sweet. And last but not least, the roti dip. We love the fluffiness of the roti and the curry dip. No complaints here besides maybe giving us more curry cause we liked it that much. We have a favorite Thai restaurant in San Jose. My husband and I came here for dinner, hoping to escape the 100° heat wave that day, only to find out this place doesn't have A/C. So if you don't want to sweat like a pig, don't come here on a hot summer day. I got the short ribs mussaman and hubby got the pad kee mao. Like what others here have mentioned, the service really isn't great. Our ice water did not get refilled so we were parched. When our food finally arrived after a long wait, the waitress set it hastily at the corner edge of the table and just left. The plates were too hot to the touch, so we attempted to slide it toward ourselves with fingers wrapped in napkins. The carrots in the mussaman curry weren't as tender as I'd like, but I thought the bone-in beef was pretty good. Hardly any potatoes, which was a disappointment. Still, overall, I would recommend the dish. Hubby went with chicken for the protein in the pad kee maw, and according to him, it was too dry and some noodles were still clumped together. My FAVORITE Thai restaurant in the East Bay! They have brunch and dinner service. The service was amazing and I loved the menu options. It's on the Main Street so I definitely recommend parking in the back - they also have a back entrance! I ordered Pad See Ew, Tom Yum + Seafood, Garlic Sriracha Wings, Crabby Tom Yum Omelette and Papaya Salad + Crab. The Pad See Ew reminded me of the one I had in Thailand with the stir fried large noodles. The Pad See Ew and the Tom Yum Soup had so much flavor.
