Chefs special, Short Rib Massaman Curry

This Thai joint is tasty Most of their dishes are gluten free! I like their fried chicken dish over fried rice most. The fried rice is very tasty, the deep fried chicken can use a bit more flavoring but it's meant to be dipped in their sweet and source sauce. I wasn't a fan of the sweet and sour sauce, it's a bit on the sweet side. Overall, I would recommend and definitely returning. There's still many other GF options I've yet to try. Service is not bad, but not great either. The ambience is nice and clean.

Great place for weekend brunch. There was no wait for a table. Service was friendly and the food came out quickly. Loved everything we got, and the portions were generous. The fried chicken was moist and perfectly crispy. The roti was amazing. Our crab tom yum omelette really hit the spot. Great flavor and lots of crab. And you can't go wrong with a classic thai milk tea here.

Thai infused brunch with eye catching dishes and bold flavors to stimulate your senses will have you waking up and then craving for a nap afterwards! Integrated into downtown Hayward just a block from the theater and other eateries and drink spots, Khao Hom has made a strong impression in the local community drawing a good following for weekend brunch as well as weekday lunch. With street parking right in front as well as sharing free public parking in the lot behind the restaurant, once you've slogged through traffic to get to this area, you'll be able to easily park and venture in for your food experience. As you enter, you'll likely need to wait for one of their staff members to seat you in one of their two dining spaces. The rooms are well lit and enhance the ambiance of your meal (and photos) with natural lighting. When seated, you'll get their food and drinks menu in addition to finding their dessert menu at the table. As standard, each table gets a carafe of water for you to serve yourselves. Their menu is quite extensive in representing popular Thai flavors with a bit of flare. You'll find curries, soups, noodles and chef specialties in their own sections of the menu. They also have some alcohol infused drinks for those looking for a full brunch experience. As a novice to some Thai dishes, I did have to ask the staff to explain a bit about certain dishes, but there were a few that caught my eye and never let go. Thai tea - flavorful and bold; rich but not too sweet Matcha latte - rich matcha flavor and creamy; best sipped and can be packed in a to-go cup if you don't finish Tom yum crab omelet - beautifully crafted omurice-esque dish where you'll find white rice encased in an egg omelet topped with succulent pieces of crab meat and smothered in tom yum soup. This dish is not only a pleasure to look at but the taste and textures in each bite will have you salivating for more until the dish completely disappears. This unique take is a must get for first timers! Roti gai tod - crispy fried yet succulent chicken served with a small serving of creamy yellow curry, white rice, and a roti alongside their delicious chili sauce. Fantastic balance of textures and flavors will have your tongue dancing from the spices. Tom kha soup - a bowl of comfort with a whole lot of shredded chicken, red onions, and mushrooms with a few big quarters of fresh tomatoes. It's not as creamy as I would like but the flavor is there with its abundance in lemongrass. The portion is large as one order can easily split into two bowls. Fried ice cream - a meal topper and sweet indulgence for those looking to try something new and rarely found elsewhere. This giant meteorite of a breaded and fried ball of vanilla ice cream is topped with chocolate fudge, powdered sugar, a generous helping of whipped cream and plenty of fruit (strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, grapes, and cantaloupe). Definitely shareable and a surprising star of their dessert menu - they could definitely do more to advertise this! The staff were super friendly and quick to take dirty dishes out of the way. They kept the place clean, served the food promptly and treated all of their customers with respect and smiles. Top notch crew from the front of the house to the back. Furthermore, should you need the restrooms, they do have two gender neutral rooms that were decently maintained. Overall, Khao Hom is not your everyday Thai restaurant nor is it your run of the mill brunch spot - this is a unique experience with food created out of passion to merge these together. The result is an aesthetically pleasing yet hunger extinguishing meal that will have you discovering new flavors and craving for more. With its proximity to the city center, it's a great a spot to plan out a lunch or brunch before a nice stroll around or a movie. Thai food has never looked and tasted so good!

Wow Wow Wow! What a great find! The menu was creatively extensive and it made ordering what to eat for lunch difficult. But we managed and everything was delicious. The decor is pretty awesome and the people that work here were super nice. We're from San Francisco and were blown away by KH. I asked the owner to open a restaurant in San Francisco. That's how much we enjoyed our meal. It's a great place for brunch, lunch and dinner! Check it out!

Grabbed lunch with a friend and we enjoyed this place. We shared the tom yum crab omelette and the mama pad kee mao. We both liked the pad kee mao over the omelette. It was really flavorful and it all came together really well for us. I think we were a bit underwhelmed with the omelette. It wasn't bad, but I expected a bit more in terms of flavor and it wasn't much to remember. The cocktails were really yummy and creative.

The rating for this restaurant mainly comes from the service our party experienced. Our waitress came across unengaged and unfriendly to our family. She was annoyed with the questions we inquired about the menu, especially so with the curry. In one instance, when we asked about recommendations beyond the Massaman short rib (as we thought it was too large and expensive) and green curry, mainly inquiring between the yellow and red curry, the lady responded by saying she already told us the green curry was good. Otherwise, the food was still delicious. The crab omelet was our winner. The portions are filling. Unfortunately just didn't have the best experience and having visited this place last year I also had a similar (though more positive) service experience.

Have been to their sister shop in SJ so was keen to try our local one here. Parking is super easy in the public lot behind the shop row. Ambiance is cool, very airy and inviting. Came for a weekday lunch, 3 of us and got seated right away no problem. Love the special options on the menu, so many interesting things to try! The koong karee (prawn curry) and har mok seafood were my favorite. Special mention for the khao soi too! Big portions and took home enough for another meal. Prices are a little higher than the usual Thai joint but it's worth it.

Parking was a bit rough but we lucked out and got parking in the back, I came here for lunch on a weekend and was pleasantly surprised. My friend and I shared the crab omlette and Thai tea pancakes. The crab omlette is giving omurice and we really enjoyed it! The Thai tea pancakes were not too sweet too, which we appreciated. The service was quick and friendly. Can't wait to ty other dishes here!

This is a classic brunch place for my family, as the food is just so good. I have only been around brunch time, when they offer both breakfast and thai lunch options. The restaurant itself is small and cute, but my mom and I were seated right away at around noonish on Sunday! That might have been because everyone was busy at world cup parties, though. We ordered: - thai iced teas - the khao hom waffle - samosas - roti with curry dip - koong karee The thai teas were unfortunately on the milky side, and weren't very strong tasting. I recommend the lychee iced tea instead! When I used to go, I always got the thai tea pancake but they have since removed it from their menu. Although this was a pretty devastating revelation, I went with their waffle instead. I thought that the waffle still super delicious, and I loved that it had coconut meat cooked into the batter. It comes garnished with fruit and coconut flakes, which was a plus. While I thought it was a delicious choice, I do not think it was a proper replacement for my thai tea pancake. The samosas and roti were both so delicious, flavorful, and savory. The portions aren't huge, but the flavors make up for it. The koong karee was the star of the show! The prawns were so well cooked, and came in the most delicious egg & curry sauce. I loved the vegetables that came in the dish, as well. You can't go wrong with the tiger prawns, and they go so well with some jasmine rice on the side. Overall, we keep coming back for good reason! The food is always so yummy, and I would definitely recommend you give this place a try. I hope they take this review as a plea for them to bring the thai tea pancake back, though! It was that good. Regardless, I will be back!

My first time here after a long hike at Lake Chabot. We called last minute and they were able to accommodate our table of 20+ people. Service was excellent. Will def come back and try again. They cooked real fast in the kitchen. So impressed. Food tasted very authentic as well. The chicken roti seems most popular. They had good drinks also.

Crab omelet: absolutely no taste. I added salt and pepper still zero Tom Yum favor or and lack any chicken power of taste of any kind. The noodle tasted perfect. We love it. Something inconsistent here.

Thai + breakfast = match made in heaven! The tom yum omelette was so good and they were really generous with the crab. Only tried two dishes (tom yum omelette and khao tom waffles) and both complimented one another

Khao Hom was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a while, and I'll definitely be coming back. We started with the samosas, and honestly, they were the best samosas I've ever had. They weren't the traditional style--instead, they were shaped more like empanadas--but they were incredible. The pastry was flaky, light, and fluffy, and the seasoning inside was packed with flavor. Every bite had a great balance of texture and spices. For my entrée, I ordered the yellow curry chicken, which was equally impressive. The curry was rich and flavorful with just a touch of heat. It wasn't particularly spicy, but it had enough warmth to complement the dish without overpowering the other flavors. The chicken was tender, and the curry was something I found myself wanting to savor until the very last bite. The prices are a little higher than some other spots, but the quality of the food more than justifies the cost. Everything tasted fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and full of flavor. If you're considering giving Khao Hom a try, I'd highly recommend it.

Dessert: Orange brownie was simple with orange zest and the Hawaiian bread pudding was different and flavorful. Good to see the place bustling and look forward to future rotating pop up events.
