For a fusion brunch place, this place has the best stir fried noodles! We got a large spread consisting of fried chicken and rice, two noodle dishes, Tom yum omelette, roti, Thai tea pancakes, and a few other items (I forgot). Thank you YELP for another great find!! I was looking for a restaurant to meet a friend for lunch - we live an hour away from each other and Hayward was a good halfway location. Since I'm not familiar with restaurant choices in Hayward, I turned to Yelp and found Khao Hom. What a wonderful restaurant!! My friend had the stir fry veggie plate with rice and I splurged by having the Khao Hom waffle - both dishes were beautifully prepared, colorful, and delivered hot. They were also soooo delicious! The waffle has coconut in the batter and fresh fruit on top. The server was so friendly and helpful and the location was easy to find with abundant free parking nearby. So happy I tried this gem of a restaurant! Came with a friend around lunch hour and fortunately we were able to order off the Breakfast and/or Dinner menu. Upon entering the establishment looked very clean and well-staffed. Everything tasted delicious and the service was very attentive, friendly, and always came to check up on us. Wasn't able to capture a photo of our cocktails, but the lychee cocktail and their mimosas were also tasty (lychee more strong than the alcohol though so bartender has a light hand lol but not complaining. I had this place book marked for quite some time and finally came here for lunch. Great service and food, and both did not disappoint!! We ordered the roti and samosa for appetizers. The roti was fluffy not completely flat and the samosa was heat hot!! My two friends ordered the Crabby Tom yum omelette and Mushroom Benedict while I ordered the Khao soi with chicken and we finished our meal with the mango with sticky rice to end our meal. Every dish was cooked perfectly. My friend who ordered the Mushroom eggs Benedict said the eggs were poached perfect. I really enjoyed the Khao soi. Came into here on a random tuesday around 10am. We were seated quickly as it wasn't busy. We ordered the Short rib benedict, Tom yum omelette, and their Khao Hom waffle. The short rib benedict came with this huge short rib that fell off the bone! I also really loved the way that the omelette was cooked! I think I found my new way of making my eggs. The omelette was laid on a bed of rice and in creamy tom yum. It was not spicy at all! It was very good. My favorite, though,was the waffle it was pandan and coconut. Parked at a local lot (less than a block away) and walked - only to see a nice on-street spot near the restaurant. That was fine as we needed the walk after dinner! Greeted right away! Staff were courteous and friendly. Took a minute to decide as there are plenty of vegetarian and seafood options (we're pescatarian). Ordered unsweetened ice tea with a refreshing flavor we both really enjoyed! I ordered a seafood dish from the chef's specialty menu (Hor Mok seafood) and hubby ordered the pumpkin curry with salmon. Both were amazingly good, but I especially loved the hor mok with coconut rice. So flavorful! We also ordered the fried calamari starter which was okay, but it was a little greasy and unseasoned. The place is clean and well lit. I don't think its interior is any special. The diverse menu is this place's plus! It also serves American breakfast which I did not try yet. I was craving Thai food but wanted to try something different. We ended up ordering the crabby tom yum omelette, fried chicken over fried rice and pad thai (add pork). Out of the 3 dishes, I liked the omelette the most. The egg was perfectly cooked and the sauce was so good (reminded me of Mama instant noodles, tom yum flavor) but I had wished they added more sauce to this dish. The rice that was underneath the omelette was regular white rice so without the sauce, it lacked flavor. The fried chicken that was part of the fried rice was just okay. The breading had already fallen off the chicken when we received it also it lacked the crunchy texture. The fried rice was well seasoned so I suggest just ordering the fried rice alone. As for the pad thai...we weren't sure whether this dish had any meat in it so we asked to add pork. When we digged in, I found shrimp within the noodles. I re-read the menu and it doesn't state any type of meat. So, if you have a shrimp allergy, you'll have to mention this to them. The tofu that was part of the pad thai was overly fried so it was super dry. Street parking is limited. Hubby was able to find parking in the parking lot that was behind the restaurant. read more

It was quiet with few diners until about 7 pm. Did not like the TV. Loved the floating candlesticks The rest was rather clean and modern unlike most Thai places. Our appetizer was fried Mushrooms. It was not great, I try to avoid fried foods. I ordered yellow shrimp curry with Jasmine rice. It was delicious! My friend ordered the salmon and it too was fabulous. We had a whiskey cocktail with ginger slices. Beautiful presentation and not too strong. Don't really think of whiskey with Thai food, but it worked. We placed an order for pickup, looking forward to what we hoped would be a great Thai meal. Instead, we were met with one of the most unpleasant restaurant experiences we've ever had. The waiter at the counter was outright rude and abrasive--speaking with unnecessary hostility, showing zero basic courtesy, and making us feel like we were a burden just for showing up to collect our food. What made it worse? Despite the attitude and unprofessional behavior, there was still an expectation of a tip. Tip? For what--being treated like garbage? The behavior was so off-putting, it completely ruined any excitement we had about the meal. At this point, it doesn't matter how good the food might be--we won't be able to enjoy it with the bitter aftertaste of the way we were treated. If you're thinking of trying this place, ask yourself if you're okay with being disrespected just to get a takeaway order. We certainly aren't--and we won't be back. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped by Khao Hom after noticing their big sign going down foothill Blvd. I am Laotian so I know what good Lao and Thai food tastes like and man, they did not disappoint! First of all the inside is nearly renovated with an upscale classy vibe! Perfect for a cute date/party! Food is DELISH! We ordered: Pad sa ew chicken - super fresh and soft noodles with just the right amount of seasoning! Lao style papaya salad with fermented crab and fish- not too sweet or salty but perfectly balanced and refreshing! Crispy calamari - lightly battered calamari with a really yummy aioli type sauce! Tofu pumpkin curry (not pictured) - a nice balance of sweet and savory and the pumpkin was my favorite part Service goes above and beyond! 5/5 stars PS: they also serve American brunch throughout the week with mimosas! Came here for dinner on a weekday. Didn't have any issues with parking, street and parking garage a block or two over . Such a cute ambiance inside, good amount of seating. It filled up pretty quick during the evening. This would be a great date night spot. They have some unique cocktails as well. Ordered a lychee iced tea, soo good and unique, strong lychee taste. Food wise, chicken wongs had some definite spice, green curry, fried chicken, mango sticky rice, pad see ew, all delicious and recommend. Overall, all the dishes were amazing, flavorful, spiced well, great textures, breading on the fried stuff, etc. HOWEEEEEEVER, it was definitely saltier than most restaurants, but I would go back again. Khao Hom has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants. It begins with grade A service that is kind friendly and attentive and seems to never miss that mark. The restaurant itself is clean and well decorated. on to the food which is fresh and FAST! our faves so far are the Pad Ka-Pow with ground chicken and the classic chicken Pad Thai. We have been here 3 times so far and we now consider it one of our go-to spots. A couple things I should mention is that the Thai Tea is way too creamy for my liking, it might be instant. And that the quality of the shrimp is not the best, if you have a discerning seafood palette you will be able to taste the saline that is prominent in frozen shrimp. It's not worth the $3 upcharge. We made a reservation for my sister's birthday brunch which was nice because other brunch places don't always let you do this. The service was good. The food was yummy and prepared faster than we thought it would take. The crab tom yum omelet was creamy and slightly sweet. Loved the mushrooms in there.
