Some of my fondest memories of Hawaii, and Maui more specifically are at the Kihei Caffe. In fact, as I sit here at home in Californa, I long for a stack of pancakes that were sooo delicious. Often I think about the very tasty Mahi sandwiches that I ate there on a regular basis. A trip to Maui would not be complete without at least ONE meal (for me, daily) at the Kihei Caffe. I am so sad. This was my go to place for years...the one across from Kalama Park. Last time I was at that location I"the quality and service went way down. We thought we would try this location in the hotel and hope for a better experience. Unfortunately, it was even worse than the other location. What used to be great home fries are now small peelings...seem like they were deep fried. Terrible terrible. The once oversized homemade biscuits now seem like they're thin little Pillsberry doughboy biscuits out of a package. I don't know if they are, but they were terrible as well. Used to recommend this place when visiting Maui but no longer. Not worth the wait. Not worth the expense. And definitely not worth the food. Much better places to go to. read more

Their coffee special of the day was one of the best coffees me and wife have ever had. Not to sweet and delicious! Got the corned beef hash and the eggs were cooked to perfections, potatoes were good. We came here about 3 times for breakfast. Corn beef hash was great. Homemade corn beef, not the can stuff. Huevos ranchero was delicious. Pancakes are huge & fluffy. Their biscuits & gravy was also yummy. You order at counter & they bring the foods to your table. They have 2 locations, but we like this one better. We don't have to deal with the chickens at this location. A lot more chill here. read more

First time in Maui with my husband, we decided to stop in for breakfast after watching the sunrise at Haleakala. I was blown away by the French toast here. It was so light, just sweet enough, and they give you 3 slices that are very filling! The cafe itself is very quaint, you order inside then they seat you outside, where there's chickens and roosters to add to the Hawaiian ambience, and your view across the street is none other than the bluest ocean I've ever seen. Great service also, very friendly people. 10/10 read more

The more southern Kihei location was closer to our condo so ate here more, but had from both locations during trip and food was consistent (maybe hair better here). BANANA MAC PANCAKES!!! or french toast banana mac nut. Add a bit of the coconut syrup and your live has been fulfilled. My wive loved the omelets and digs the coffee too. Seems there's a different house potato with the eggs than last trip and they're really good!! I tried a BLT sandwich also, tons of bacon but otherwise good but uneventful. I recommend this place for breakfast but it gets super busy so make sure you get there early. Pancakes are really good! I don't recommend in for dinner we had a bad experience the clams were super salty and the fish's tacos were plain. The people working at dinner time seemed new and they didn't even know what to recommend the waitress said she hasn't tried most of the dishes. read more

$88 for 3 breakfast plates and two iced coffees that were not that great. They charge extra $3.50 for a small, sprinkle of chocolate chips just thrown on top of the pancakes. Locally owned: new location! This is just down the road from their other restaurant. This spot is very open and lots of fresh air and room to sit. Staff is very friendly and quick to help with any questions. I got the Cajun blackened Mahi with eggs and it was by far one of the best breakfasts I've ever had! (not even exaggerating). While "Maui Coast Hotel" is awesome (where we stayed), this cafe next to the hotel is nothing great to write about. The food is very bland. I don't care about their high prices if food is good but food quality really sucked there. Suggest they revamp their menu because we ate there twice and both times it was a mini-disaster. How can you screw up "chips and salsa"? By over-baking chips apparently. Do yourself a favor and eat at other close-by places. read more

Ube latte (Hawaiian Twilight) was perfectly rich and sweet, the view of the palm trees and birds is peaceful and relaxing. I enjoyed the crispy bacon and scrambled eggs as well. The servers were lively, kind, and accommodating. Wonderful first brunch in Maui. read more

I was reprimanded by an older woman for standing in the wrong place in line (this was not clear from the signs and there was only one other person ordering at the register). We ate at the pool cafe, it took forever to order drinks. It was another 20 minutes to order food. Three of the four dinners were not good. We ate here twice during our stay. The first time across from Kalama Park and the second time at the Maui Coast Hotel. The location at Maui Coast hotel was newer, nicer and felt more organized. You order your food, pick up your drinks and your food is brought to your table. They do not give you numbers when you order but take your name. When your food is ready they walk through the restaurant yelling your name and deliver your food to your table. This felt somewhat disorganized. Other restaurants like Paia Fish House have a similar system but use numbers you place on the table which makes things go smoother and feel less chaotic. The food is pretty good, reasonably priced for Maui and nice size portion. We had the fried rice and egg, spinach omelet, eggs Benedict, and pancakes with blueberry and coconut. The coffee was great! Unfortunately, this beloved chain has lost its appeal to us. The prices are exorbitant. $5 for what tasted like cheap store bought orange juice made from concentrate (which was further diluted by the ton of ice they put in the glass). Almost $25 dollars for a plate of 2 eggs, 2 bacon, and 2 pancakes (we upgraded for the banana and macadamia nut option). Eggs were overly runny and bland. The roll was dry, tasteless and they slapped a slice of American cheese on it and a quarter of an avocado, not even sliced to cover the eggs. Ambiance is nice. Service was mediocre. The lady at the register didn't even look up and smile at us, she was all business. I ordered the kulua pork benedict and it was absolutely flavorless and the yolk was cooked all the way through. They didn't have fresh squeezed juice today and the apple juice that I got tasted watered down. All of the sugary breakfasts looked great so if I go back (and that's a big if), I will try one of those. read more
