Amazing for takeout, and lots of room to eat for dine-in. Prices are very fair. We love them for their very affordable sushi ($18.50 for 3 rolls), since they absolutely pack the sushi with fish. This has left a select few AYCE restaurants sporadically and inconveniently located around NYC. Kikoo in Manhattan Valley became the AYCE sushi spot closest to me so I've ventured up here a few times. Kikoo is solid, but very hit or miss. I've had delicious sushi and sometimes subpar. This location has very few hot items, so if you are looking for that, look elsewhere. The restaurant is somewhat small and not the most inviting - darkly lit restaurant, somewhat clean and no real service -- just an iPad handed to you to order off of the whole meal. This $50 version of their "all you can eat and drink dinner" has a few caveats: * Diners are limited to 15 pieces of sushi or sashimi each * There is only one red, one white and hot or cold sake available * Certain specialty items are limited to one per person * A mandatory tip (20%?) is included Caveats aside we had a great time and a tasty dinner. Usually one of my complaints about AYCE sushi is that their service is slow and you don't really get to optimize your ordering and eating time. But Kikoo gets rid of that complaint altogether by giving you a tablet where you can place all your orders. And even though you're mostly using the tablet, the servers are so friendly. Everything comes out relatively quickly, and the quality is so good. Never would I have thought I would care about "sushi tacos" but it might have been one of my favorite things we ordered. The ayce also comes with so many options - like as in variety of things to order from, but also each person dining gets one special order and a dessert, and you can get as much green tea or soda as you want. And if you opt in for all you can drink for like $5 more, you can get as much sake, beer, and wine you want. I was so sad they ran out of ice cream mochi when we went, but hopefully they'll have it next time. read more

The $50 bottomless sushi and sake was quite a steal, we got two carafes of warm sake, and three or four platters of sushi and nigir. When our whole table was finally sat we agreed that not all of us wanted the AYCE sushi. When we told the waiter this they told us no can do the whole table must order the AYCE. So we decided ok of our party of 5, 3 want the all you can eat and 2 just want the regular menu so can we just separate the tables and again they said no. This is pure stupidity. "You can think about it or you can leave." So of course we decided to leave and as we are walking out still had manners to say thank you and they just completely ignored us. Came here for AYCE/ALCD sushi and sake! Not typically a fan of AYCE - in my experience the quality of sushi isn't always the best and I don't always feel as though I eat my money's worth. But to my surprise, Kikoo was decently priced and the food was pretty good! There was a HUGE selection on the menu - all the classics plus their own set of fun specials. I enjoyed the sushi tacos. Food came out within just a few minutes of our orders despite being fairly busy which was really nice. Keep in mind there is a 2 hour limit! Pandemic-wise it felt pretty safe - we were seated outdoors with hand sanitizer dispensers at each table and we were handed an iPad to make our orders so contact with the staff was limited. You can even request for water! Tables were a good distance apart as well. In sum, great place for decently priced and decently tasting AYCE/AYCD that won't break the bank and will make you feel like you got your money's worth. read more

I had worked for three Japanese restaurants as manager and this was unacceptable. The table next to us also complained about slow service but the servers literally said "wait and you will get your food; whatever you order before closing time, you will get it!" Also, to charge an automatic gratuity of 18% to anyone? Thats bs. I know it is legal to do so and prefered to do so for party over 6 but for this quality of service? Basically we were there for 2hours 30minutes and the eating time was not even 20minutes. I just arrived to east coast from west coast. I had been in this industry for 9 years, which is not a lot but is this how they work in NY? Busy store? Not really compared to where I had worked. Either the owner is short of money and doesn't hire enough staffs or the chefs are inexperienced to finish the order tickets in time. I am sorry but never going back. What a wonderful experience. I was on The upper west side, and decided to venture to Kikoo's. Friendly and attentive staff, clean, warm and modern atmosphere. Decided to have their signature Roast Pork Ramen. ($16) It's simple Tonkatsu Paitan broth was creamy and flavorful. Scallions, memba, kamaboku, and 2 Hardy medallions of roasted pork topped this bowl. The pork was quite tasty though a little overdone and not as tender as I normally like it. I have never had such a terrible experience. My wife and I came in for a relaxing Sunday dinner. Two different twenty person groups of college students came in and turned the restaurant into a frat house. Imagine forty drunk and rowdy college students chanting and banging their fists on the table for ninety minutes. Staff did nothing to stop this behavior which continued and only got worse. If we were at a sports bar or a college football game that is one thing. We tried to get them to at least stop banging on the tables but that was met with rude and nasty remarks.
