Damn near perfect Cuban bread. Steak and egg: steak was marinated to joyous effect, swiss cheese just melty goodness. Chorizo and egg: who makes the best chorizo just to put it in this sandwich goodness? Coffee: shut it, almost as good as Jamaican Blue Mountain! I love to grab quick bites here and the locals love this place too. Don't come too late because they only do breakfast and lunch and if you come at lunch be patient because they get busy. Service is fast though and you can watch them cook your food too. Most people take it to go but if you decide you want to eat here then be ready for a lot of friendly conversation with the family running this place. They only have 4 stools to eat at the counter so get there before the lunch crowd arrives. They make really good traditional cafe con leche and a lot of sandwiches, but my favorite thing to get is pan cubano (pressed cuban bread with butter). Call me stubborn but I don't normally listen to recommendations from friends and family; maybe because they never seem to live up to what has been boasted. Thankfully I did listen this time and made a breakfast stop here and took a spot on their 4 seat counter (for the most part this is a take-out & delivery restaurant). The coffee was strong like I expected (cafe con leche with one sweet n' low). I was surprised when watching them make coffee for others because if you don't specify how much sweetener as I did, then expect it quite sweet (saw 4 spoonfuls of sugar go into one large coffee and the customer just said "cafe con leche with sugar" (perhaps he was a regular though). We had a bread & cheese (pressed cuban bread with cheese) and an egg & cheese with ham. Both were good but wish I asked what kind of cheese; they use american cheese (the one cheese I don't love)... but still very good nonetheless. Set your GPS for this eatery because I have driven by many times and this little place is tucked between a liquor store and a haircutter and not easily noticed. The staff are extremely outgoing, energetic and welcoming. Look forward to trying lunch out some time in the future. read more

We've been at least a dozen times as we frequent Key West quite often. It's the first place we go our first morning and our last stop on our way to Ft. We just stopped in & ordered takeout at Kim's Kuban. Husband got the Cuban Mix sandwich & I got Tacos Pastor. Both orders were correct when we got back to where we're staying: no mayo on his Cuban & no onions on the tacos, just as we asked for. They were amazing & fresh! The pork was so flavorful, with just the right amount of cilantro & cheese on top, also on the side cups of guacamole, salsa, & a very fresh lime to squeeze over them & take them to the next level! Husband said Cuban mix was very good with lots of meat. We were kind to each other & I let him have 1 of my 4 Pastor Tacos, while I took a bite of his sandwich. Kim's Kuban is a quiet Cuban coffee/sandwich shop about a mile and a half north of Duval on Roosevelt. The shop doesn't offer sit down dining, only takeout. It appears a little rundown and disorganized inside, but the Cuban mix, roast pork plate, and plantains were solid. The rice with the pork plate did taste a bit like it had been sitting out for awhile unfortunately. Other than that, no complaints. read more

When you order a chicken sandwich with fries then you receive a fish sandwich instead of chicken. So I called and spoke to owner which said I did place an order for chicken sandwich & I said well I don't want cold fries and he refuse to send me fresh fries he insisted on me paying for it. When it was there mistake. I don't eat fries first I eat my sandwich and fries together. You suck as a business man over a lousy couple of $$ for fries. I was spending 70 to 80 weekly at your business. As you noticed I never went back and never will because you're not about customer service. You said I would be back joke's on you . I've been ordering from the place quite a bit. Today I was displeased to find that my guava cheese danish was burned and rock hard. I called to notify them of the issue. The guy was very rude first stating they don't make them, he was yelling the entire conversation and responded like I was major annoyance to him. I said okay, well you should check your danishes, I wasn't really calling because I wanted anything. Just to let them know. I asked for maybe a new one next time I come in... to which his response was again aggressive and rude. Yelling in a loud disrespectful tone. So we turned to Yelp for some cafe con leche and croquetas and we were not disappointed! Very small spot but authentic Cuban cuisine! The coffee was perfect! Scorching hot but perfectly flavored. The croquetas were amazing! Cooked from scratch when ordered so they took a little while but completely worth the wait. Very fresh, hot and crispy!
