The lake trout is the reason for the main review. Always flaky and seasoned perfectly. You get white bread to make the perfect hood fish sandwich and it's been the same for over ten years. The honey wings were amazing and if I'm in the mood they make great pigs feet. The smother wings and pork chops are okay but dry. Meatloaf taste like dog food, greens have no seasoning. How did they manage to mess up mac and cheese, it had a sour taste to it like it had been sitting in the sun all day and it spoiled. The grits are good, but I thought it came with cheese since the option said it would be more for EXTRA cheese. But either way they are good. I got the pancakes, eggs and bacon for the nephew. A turkey bacon and egg sandwich for my niece. And fried potatoes, grits and two scrabble egg and cheese sandwiches for my sister and myself. Everythjng is good but the scrapple taste old. The buffet offers dozens of classic food items including hog maws, chitterlings, collard greens, lake trout, fried chicken and macaroni and cheese. There are also tangy spare ribs and sweet and sour meatballs. The protein selection is diverse and delicious! They even have made to order subs. They have lunch and dinner specials each day of the week. The crown jewels of the buffet are the homemade buttered rolls. The fresh rolls glisten with butter under the glow of the heat lamps. So good. The macaroni and cheese is also superb: so thick and cheesy, you'll want to visit your cardiologist afterward to make sure your heart is still working properly. The reviews posted on here are outdated or people are just not being honest. I'm going to give you a complete rundown of everything I ate. Turkey Wings: Bland barely seasoned with turkey gravy cheaply thrown on it. Collard greens and Kale: The texture was tough and chewy. The greens were not cooked long enough. White Rice: It was crunchy had been sitting out all day Candy Yams: Barely Edible Cornbread: Tasted like cake not the real deal Pork Ribs: I want soul food not pork ribs marinated in teriyaki sauce. I tend to patronize this restaurant through UberEats frequently because their breakfast options are top notch but I didn't expect their in-person customer service to be the complete opposite of the food they serve. I made a delivery order this morning, 12/29/21, and it was said to have been picked up but it never got delivered. Ok. I call Uber to report it and they give the refund for the order and suggest I call the restaurant for further instruction. So I call and whoever picks up is 1) generally nasty and 2) wholly unhelpful. I let her know the issue and what I've done thus far and as I was about to ask how to proceed, she completely blows me off say call Uber. Obviously I already have. I basically can't get a word in because every time I speak it's "Call Uber". I called to ask an honest question and would have left it alone if I got a sincere answer saying there was nothing that could have been done, but all I get met with is combativeness and an unwillingness to listen or to solve my problem. It's really a shame because I love this restaurant and want to support small businesses and family restaurants like Kimmy's during these times and will continue to eat here. Came in, either order at the counter or fill up a take-out box with items of your liking and pay for the pound ($3.99 lb; set-up is very similar to NYC deli carryouts too). This place is not to be confused with a buffet; it is not a buffet (doesn't say it's a buffet on the outside either). We opted for the pay per pound and tried the: fried chicken, meat loaf, turkey in gravy, roast beef, pig ear, collard greens, mac & cheese, dinner roll (extra 59 cents per roll), a spare rib, and baked potato pieces. Had to opt for baked potato pieces, which weren't bad, but not an ideal substitute for mashed potatoes (were out at the time). SX really liked the baked potato pieces. The collard greens were tender, not stringy, and I believe, mixed with kale. The mac & cheese was everything mac & cheese should be: creamy, cheesy, noodles cooked to the right consistency. The turkey in gravy was tender, not dry. The pig ear was surprising good. I guess it was pressure cooked for a long time as the cartilage was super tender, didn't have that cartilage bite that is present in Chinese cold dishes. The meat loaf is better than some other meat loafs I've had from diners. It wasn't dry and flavorful. Also, Kimmy's meatloaf has an outside coating of ketchup (yay!). SX said that the roast beef piece was too dry, though he didn't have much gravy on it. The dinner roll was wonderful. I really believe that having a dinner roll with certain types of meals is a necessary compliment to the meal. Soft, buttery, and warm, that roll made a small place in my heart. The spare rib was pretty saucy, so it wasn't one of our more favorite items (we don't really like ribs cooking in sauce, personal preference thing). However, the meat was tender and falling off the bone. The fried chicken was decent, though I found it to be a bit too salty for my liking. SX liked it, but the chicken has to be piping hot. Our only qualm here was that the food seemed to be lukewarm... not piping hot. They were adding water to the buffet-style islands, and that might have brought down the overall heating temperature. Also, the fried chicken was cold because there are not heat lamps at the buffet islands. SX did get 1 piece of piping hot chicken because the kitchen had made another batch while we were in the process of picking up food. It's only worth to get fried chicken really hot, so next time we might just order that from the counter. Only the dinner roll was warm because of the lid. Let me start off by saying, i usually don't take the time out to write anything about food places, retail, clothing store or etc. . This was my first time coming to this place call kimmy's today, So i though i share my experience. I am a school bus driver and today i decided to get a breakfast sandwich from the store right across the street from the school, which is (kimmy's) so, i drove over to Kimmy's restaurant. Mind you, it's 8:30 in the morning. I went inside to get 2 everfresh Kiwi strawberries and a sausage egg and cheese sandwich..but my bus monitor wanted some chitlins. The lady said the chitlins will take 10 to 15 minutes to be ready. So I say how long does this sausage egg and cheese sandwich will take. Basically, I was trying to figure out would it take the same amount of time to make both....so it will be worth us waiting. But then, the lady at the cash register had the audacity to tell us to "hurry up and order because the line was long" I really cannot believe she told us that with a str8 face! So i told her i didnt want to buy anything from this store. So i put the drinks back and rolled out! And i will never spend money in this store!!
