I came in here for solo brunch on a Sunday and sat at the bar. I was immediately greeted and treated very well by the staff. The location was easy to get to from the St Charles street car. This seems to be one of the only full vegan spots in NOLA with very few exceptions and it did not disappoint. I got the vegan tofu scramble with hash browns and a chocolate chip cookie. As a vegetarian, I have always had a bit of trouble finding something for me in some of the restaurants in New Orleans. I was pleasantly surprised to randomly find this wonderful vegan restaurant while roaming around the city. We were the only people in the restaurant at first so we were served quickly. The woman who served us was super friendly, helpful with the menu, and gave up plenty of time to figure out what to eat and drink. I had a wonderful quinoa salad with a tasty dressing (which was named after the restaurant).The fried Brussels sprouts were amazing! I also ordered a old fashioned which was quite good. Not usually a huge fan of cocktails, but why not! I have a significant amount of vegan food, and this place has some top notch dishes. Highly recommend even if you aren't veg. The meatball was one of the best I've had in awhile (super fresh French bread, perfect meatball to sauce ratio and the cheese didn't interfere with the sandwich), a solid Botanical Sabbatical mocktail with just the right balance of flavors, yucca fries nicely lightly breaded. The fried cauliflower appetizer was just the right size -- about a 10-12 oz bowl of uniformly trimmed, air fried florets. For my entree, I ordered the fried mushroom "shrimp poboy" -- and was really surprised to see so few mushrooms. Any respectable shrimp poboy is busting with filling, but this was a sedate sandwich with the dozen or so little mushrooms safely nestled within the margins of the pillowy poboy roll. This is definitely a mixed review, so I'll start by saying that we were very pleased with our food. If you're looking for good vegan food, check 'em out. But from the top: This was a Saturday evening, during Easter break, and this is the heart of the university area. So this could have been an unusual day/night. In other words, possibly, earlier in the day, and not during a holiday, this place could have been busier. But, we walked in and immediately noticed that one table had a spray bottle and rag on it, another had dirty dishes on it, another only had one chair, yet another had no chairs, and there were maybe 3 empty tables (with chairs). Plus, quite a few chairs were stacked along the wall. There were two people behind the bar, and otherwise, the place was empty. So, our initial thought was they were closed. But the lady behind the bar assured us they were open and told us to "sit anywhere you'd like", which we found amusing, since only 3 of the 7 empty tables were available. So we sat and were tended to quickly. It was as we sat and waited that we decided that there is a "college factor". The place is pretty bare, with some not-so-great looking plants. There were a few uncleaned glasses at the bar. Maybe they had a very busy afternoon? But then the food came. So let's talk about that: I'm not a vegan, but my GF is. I never know what to expect with vegetable based "meat", but I'm open minded. I got the "meatball" sandwich, and my GF got spring rolls and yucca fries. And everything was really good! My sandwich was simple but good, and quite honestly, I don't think I would have known it was not really meat. We were both impressed. And our server paid good attention to us. My GF often cares as much about the environment and atmosphere of a restaurant, which may keep us from making a trip back. This was the worst dining experience I've ever had. Me and my colleagues were here for a conference. Many people were vegan so they wanted to try this place. We made a reservation, knowing that we were a group of 10. They even called to confirm the reservation, so they knew we were coming. Slowest service ever! It took 45 minutes to get water and half of our drink order. Food trickled out at a snail's pace and there was no explanation or any care given from our server. Yelp doesn't do half stars, so I'm rounding up to 3 stars from 2.5. My review is based off of my experience as a party of 12. Came around 6pm on a Tuesday night. There were maybe 2 other small parties eating in the restaurant. They have 1 guy doubling as both the waiter and bartender. We ordered our food: multiple starters, multiple shrimp poboys, multiple maple street burgers. The food didn't come out for at least an hour, probably more. Normally, starters come out first followed by the main dishes. Nope, main dishes came out first and one of the starters ordered was the very last thing to arrive. Also, we ordered multiple shrimp poboys and burgers, but I'm guessing they weren't all cooked at the same time which was strange. Half of us had to wait for the poboys for another 20min while the others got to start eating their poboys. The wait would not have been as big of a deal if the food was really good. Unfortunately, this was not the case. My friends who got the shrimp poboy could not finish their sandwich as whatever orange sauce in it was so sour and vinaigrette tasting that it just ruined their appetite. Even my vegan friend was left disappointed at the food. I personally have no complaints on what I ordered which was the maple street burger- onion rings were crispy, bread was good, etc. Since the restaurant seems like a smaller, locally owned business, they may not have had the manpower to accommodate 12 of us at a time. However, the restaurant is big enough to seat at least 50 people so I would hope that they can increase their service speed in the future. read more

My vegan brother took my husband and me here to eat yesterday. We were floored by how delicious everything was, including the hand crafted cocktails! We would go back again today if it weren't closed today and we return to Austin when we live before they reopen Tuesday evening. Sad food, lackluster service. Given this place a try a couple of times; really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, the food is amongst the most unremarkable that I've ever had. Think culinary level of a school cafeteria. The Brussel sprouts were 80% burnt end pieces you couldn't even get your fork in to. The nachos were more than underwhelming. When they came out my girlfriend and I just looked at each other like "are you serious". It was a smallish amount of chips, half of which were completely dry of queso or any ingredients, a minimal scoop of guac, equally small amount of pico de gallo, and a little but of corn and black beans sprinkled on top. Look, for $10 I'm not expecting a giant mound of nachos, but what came out looked like a snack for a school child, made by said school child. What a wonderful comfort food vegan place! I got the spicy chicken sandwich, and as I'm not a vegan, it was surprising how much it truly tasted like chicken! At times the seiten was a bit too chewy, but at others, the sandwich was wonderfully textured. Was definitely comparable to the Popeyes chicken sandwich. The fries were nicely seasoned with tony's seasoning. My friend got the spicy chicken tenders, and she enjoyed them as well. They were seiten, paired with a nice agave mustard. Came here for a birthday brunch for a friend. They shut the restaurant down to other customers during the party, which had about 30 guests. We were treated to sausage, hash browns, French toast, fruit, pancakes, mimosas, and this beautiful, purple hibiscus cocktail. The French toast and the hash browns were my favorite. Great location for vegan food if you're out exploring the garden district, but I can't recommend it. The food was okay/good, but the wait was genuinely unbearable- close to an hour for a small party of three when the restaurant wasn't even near full. My vegan partner wasn't that into it either, though we did all scarf the food down like ravenous dogs (the wait might actually be a good business strategy). Near the end when we were trying to leave- in a completely empty restaurant, it took close to 15 minutes to get the attention of the waitress. They also have a minimum gratuity charge of 18% added on with the option to tip more that confused us. If you still have the urge to eat here, I'd recommend the po boy and the side of mac and cheese. read more

I was so excited to visit the restaurant based on a friend's recommendation. I went there while visiting NOLA for the Essence Festival. Upon walking in, there was a slightly unpleasant smell. Now I know NOLA is old, but I do not want to smell an old musty odor when walking into a restaurant. It was not crowded which could have been a sign however several people came in for to go orders (maybe to avoid the mandatory 18% applied to checks)! The food did not live up to my expectations. My sister liked the Spicy Fried Chicken sandwich but my daughter hated the soy burger. She only enjoyed the fries. I only enjoyed the CBD drink.
