Ra Pasta - half eaten (sorry) and some yummy vegan sweet potato pies my friend smotherdnsuga made for me. The Ra Pasta is a winner!
    Robin A.

I ordered the Ra Pasta for my Dîner en Blanc meal. I didn't get a good photo because it was rainy and I was very busy managing my group. However, when I did finally sit down to eat, it was barely warm. That Ra Pasta was so delicious! The pasta was just right and the jackfruit was flavored to the gods! The crispy mushrooms were still crispy and so yummy. I wanted order from them before I left the city, but I ran out of time. I will definitely recommend them to my plant-based friends and I look forward to eating there when I return.

As a local, I've noticed there are few vegan and health conscious restaurants, especially ones that serve dinner. I-tal Garden is the only vegan restaurant I eat at regularly because they prioritize both taste and nutrients in their meal preparation. My go-to order is the mac and cheese plate with greens and cauli-wings. I love the maple mustard sauce to pair with the cauli-wings. I'm also generally not a fan of greens or cornbread, but I actually like theirs. The ginger and lemon drink is a favorite as well, but I have a high tolerance for ginger. If you aren't accustomed to the spiciness of ginger, then you might not like it. I tend to order to-go via Uber Eats. The ambiance of the restaurant feels a bit too casual for dining in, and ther surrounding neighborhood doesn't offer much to make me want to walk around or shop to turn it into a longer outing. As a heads up: the wait time for the food can be a bit long, but I expect that because it's a small business operated by a family--and I imagine some of the food is prepared in small batches. I expect my order to take up to 45 minutes including time for an Uber Eats driver to commute. I usually plan ahead and place my order early when I know I'll want it. I really appreciate that they offer catering too! I want to try other dishes from I-tal Garden, but I'm too addicted to the mac and cheese plate lol. It's really nice having a go-to spot for quality, healthy, and flavorful meal options in the city. We have a rep for good Cajun, Creole, and soul food here in New Orleans, but you gotta balance it out with some nutrients.

Too much food to name in the description!!!

I've already mentioned how excellent, fresh, flavorful, health-conscious, and overall tasty the food is. What else can I say? The music is all vibes, the people are super kind and courteous, and this is still easily my favorite vegan restaurant--no contest.

Outstanding vegan food in New Orleans! A bit off the beaten path, it was away from the chaos of Bourbon St. Near the highway & some cemeteries prolly not the best area to go walking. However, worth a quick taxi ride for the food. We got there at 8pm and were hoping the kitchen was still open since they close at 8:30pm! Luckily we got in and tried to quickly decide on an order. I tried to ask the young woman behind the counter for her recommendations. She noted her favorite was the RA pasta. I really wanted to try gumbo and couldn't figure out the cup vs bowl sizing. I asked how large one was vs the other and she said one is a cup & other is a bowl. Lol um... so didn't really get an answer on that. Would be helpful to have the cup & bowl by the counter to compare size. Took awhile for the food to come out and we quickly ate since they closed at 8:30. The RA pasta was excellent. Made in a creamy coconut sauce. I could do without the fried mushrooms on top. Didn't add much to the dish. The gumbo was my favorite. Hearty and filling. I got the cup size since I ordered pasta. If you get the cup size & side dish that would be enough for dinner. The loaded nachos were so good too! Wish we had more time and space to try other items! Saw many ordering a deep maroon color drink that looked refreshing. They have spent of seating on the main level or take the stairs up to additional seating. There is also a single restroom. Cool African art displayed around the restaurant. Worth a stop when in NOLA!

    * Portions are fair and filling * Food is rich and well seasoned (all the items I got (corn bread, greens, cauliflower, mac n cheese, and jackfruit ribs) were amazing) * The servers are really kind and personable. They are helpful and talkative * Atmosphere is fun and has a lot of character I would definitely return if I didn't live so far!

This is an amazing restaurant!!! The employees are friendly, the space is welcoming, and the food is amazing! I was not as hungry as I wanted to be, so I had corn bread and avocado fries, but everything on the menu sounded phenomenal. Finding good vegan food with local flair can be difficult at times, but I-tal Garden hit it out of the park. Another positive is that it also seems loved and supported by local customers, which emphasizes the excellent food.

Sooooo goood!!! Everything!!! I also had/tasted vegan ribs, fried oyster mushrooms, Mac and cheese, gumbo, black eyed peas, and kale greens.

The best meal I've had in New Orleans hands down. I wish I would had this food first I wouldn't have bothered with any of the other places

I-tal Garden is a Black-Owned Plant-Based Vegan Restaurant in New Orleans. According to information online, they provide healthy alternatives to traditional New Orleans - style soul cuisine. Boy, this was needed after we enjoyably consumed many sweet, buttery, highly rich foods/meals during this trip-lol. Having dinner at I-tal Garden the last evening in New Orleans was a good way to end the trip w/ a great-tasting vegan meal. I-tal Garden's decor includes colorfully painted walls, Afrocentric wall artwork, floor plants, plants on shelves, etc. There is both indoor & outdoor seating w/ an outdoor patio. High chair / table and standard chair / tables seating arrangements are there for indoor dining on the 1st floor. There is also a second mini-floor of indoor dining w/ all stool / counter-style seating. Good music plays in the background and makes you want to sway to it as you eat. Staff are nice, explained menu options, and answered questions before customers pay for their orders at the register. The Crabless Crab Cakes, the Ital Garden Salad & their Vegan Mac & Cheese were all delicious! The Mac & Chesse tasted "cheesy" enough w/ out being overpowering, the salad was fresh, and the Crabless Crb Cakes were flavorful. My stomach and body were thankful to have had some health-conscious dishes. I would definitely return when I ever revisit New Orleans. Everything we had was fire! We started with the avocado fries for our appetizer, and the mushroom burger and Ra Pasta for our entrees. The prices were very reasonable and the drinks were refreshing. It was my first time trying them, but it definitely won't be my last.

    Jackfruit Ribs Cajun Pasta

Ribs were incredible and so was the Cajun pasta! Honestly can't say enough about the ribs even better than juicy marbles. Salad greens weren't the freshest might be my only complaint but otherwise it was fast and delicious. Highly recommend

This food is the closest to plant based as possible. All that I had was delicious from the Mac & Cheese to the crab cakes. We were touring as many vegan restaurants in NOLA as possible. Each meal is prepared individually so wait was longer but atmosphere was great so didn't mind.

I thought we were going to another place when one of my guests suggested Thaihey across the street from the fire station on Decatur. Yes, sure. It's a typical Quarter restaurant with its long gallery seating. We were seated right away. The menu appeared to be heavily vegetarian which was great for my two friends. Many will understand the limited menu options for vegetarians at most places. Wes ordered Tom Kai, Becky the Massaman Jackfruit option and I the one with short rib. It was delicious. It was warm and comforting, full of flavor and the chef made it less spicy for me. What a delight to choose a menu option that I have never had and restaurant that I have never been to. You believe that I'll return for certain. Especially for that gorgeous Mai Tai!

As someone of Indian heritage who has eaten at Indian restaurants across the country and abroad, I do not offer five stars lightly. The Tandoori Chicken Tikka is the best I have ever had -- anywhere, full stop. The char is perfect, the marinade deeply fragrant, and the chicken impossibly tender. This dish alone is worth crossing the city for. The Chicken Biryani was layered and fragrant, with each component perfectly spiced yet cohesive. The Malai Gosht was rich and silky -- a quietly elegant dish that lingers on the palate. The Palak Paneer was vibrant and fresh, nothing like the heavy renditions found elsewhere. The Bullet Naan -- marketed as "eat at your own risk" -- delivered on its promise. Bold, building heat that commanded attention, but never reckless. Paired with a curry, it was outstanding. The Falooda dessert was a perfect finish: cooling, fragrant, and beautifully presented. The wine list was surprisingly decent for an Indian Restaurant. We enjoyed the Brunello! And the service -- led by Manager Aman -- was over the top in the best possible way. Warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in every guest's experience. The hospitality matched the kitchen's excellence at every turn. LuFu Nola is a must-visit. Easily the best Indian food in New Orleans.

I would like to try a few more items but how things ended altered that. Our experience started off well but ended with being rushed out for other reservations. To be a party of 4 and seated for a total of 1 hour, asked for two to go drinks that were horribly made because they were rushing, it left a bad taste in my mouth. The waiter who made our initial drinks made some well crafted drinks, the waitress who was rushing us out did not and it looked and tasted as such. Overall, the food was good and I guess takeout is an option.

Though pop-up showers were still lingering, my husband and I decided to take a gamble on courtyard dining--and I am so glad we did! Sheltered under the green umbrellas surrounded by historic brick walls, lush greenery, and rain-kissed citrus trees, the atmosphere was incredibly romantic and peaceful. The courtyard's intimate layout even brought a bit of extra magic to our evening. We sat near another wonderful couple (and their adorable daughter) and became fast friends, sharing laughs and conversation throughout the night. What truly anchored the experience, though, was the incredible service. The staff was remarkably personable, helpful, and welcoming. The dinner itself was excellent from start to finish, showcasing immense culinary skill across every dish. We started with the delicious brussels sprouts and a uniquely seasoned spring/summer gumbo that was unlike any version we've had before (oh, what I would give for the recipe). As for the entrées, the shrimp and grits were phenomenal, and the blackened catfish sandwich with a fresh salad was executed flawlessly...and the bread pudding was fantastic, too! It is rare to find an experience where top-tier hospitality, a breathtaking environment, and great food come together so (seemingly) effortlessly. Café Amélie is an absolute must-visit! The food was excellent and felt authentic from start to finish. The cocktail program was also top-tier and far better than what I've experienced at most Indian restaurants. That said, there are a few areas where I think the experience could improve. My girlfriend was trying Indian food for the first time, and we would have appreciated a bit more guidance from our server regarding the menu and spice levels, especially since she's sensitive to spice. A little direction would go a long way for first-time guests. I also noticed several walk-in parties turned away between 9:20 and 9:40 PM despite the restaurant closing at 10:00 PM. As someone who previously worked in the service industry, I understand that everyone wants to get home at the end of the night. Still, as a customer, I'd be disappointed to arrive during posted business hours and be turned away. Lastly, I felt the dessert program was a missed opportunity. The food and cocktails set such a high bar that a more robust dessert menu could really elevate the overall experience. On a positive note, I have to give a special shoutout to Satya, who was bartending and helping on the floor during our visit. He was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely enhanced our experience. Hospitality is hard to teach, and he absolutely nailed it. We'd gladly come back just to see him again.
