I asked a friend to meet me here. I've been going through a grieving experience and she had been concerned about me. When she came in she didn't know she was supposed to do anything. She just came to the table and hugged me. We started talking. She asked the waiter for water. Soon after the cashier came to the table and shamed her about not following a process. She went to the cashier desk, paid $ for lunch. I've introduced this place to so many, but no more. The ASSUMPTION of criminality was to strong and completely unnecessary. Plus the waiter ASSUMED through the whole meal that my husband had paid for the meal because he put a $5bill on the table to indicate we would be tipping. I had paid for our meal and usually we both add to the tip as long as we are there based on the level of service. The waiter spent his energy fawning over my husband ASSUMING he was the one who would "make it rain". I shut my purse, ate my food, and focused on my friend who had sacrificed time just to comfort me. I've given this buffet multiple tries because my husband enjoys the food. This place is DANGEROUS! When I ate here today, March 21st, I was quickly seated. About 90% of the tables were occupied. Social distancing is NOT ENFORCED! Reminds me of how things were pre-COVID days! The staff does NOT tell people how to properly navigate the restaurant. They don't remind people to wear gloves and mask while fetching their food. This causes people to be unaware of the glove rules. People freely walk around without masks and touching everything without gloves on. Went here for a family get together. Now, I've been to a lot of buffets. I enjoy them, I know what to expect as far as food. Food selection here was decent but the environment within the restaurant itself: it was HOT. It takes a lot to get me hot and I mean... I was literally sweating. I definitely don't mind that restaurants can get warm. That's understandable but this was so particularly hot, I wondered if it was a safe place to eat cold foods. I paid attention to everything I ate there. Next, the smell. I went there on a random Tuesday evening and it had this really weird ammonia/urine smell near the hibachi grill. Someone in our party literally sprayed perfume to mask it. I went alone with family friends as a guest. As a person who takes my kids to buffets because they love them... I would never return here. Filthy! I had to ask one of the employees to clean all of spills and dropped food on the counter beneath the food trays. I went for dinner and many of the trays were empty. All of the food was cold! My grandmother went here with her sister-in-law and some mutual friends for the sister-in-laws birthday. My grandmother ate a few times here up until a couple days ago. She and a couple of other friends got food poisoning from the crab they had and some of the other seafood items in the restaurant! She said the crab felt really wierd in her mouth and tasted different like something was off. She got through a few until she realized there's something wrong with crab like it had gone bad. I called today to let them know the situation. The owner was VERY rude. She just kept saying "well no one got sick so there's nothing we can do about it since the food was fine." My grandmother almost went to the emergency because of how sick she got and all the owner keeps saying "we can't do anything about it, no one got sick." She didn't even apologize or anything. She literally sounded like she didn't even care and was just brushing me off. She scoffs every time I'm trying to explain what's going on. Literally horrible. This is not a bad buffet and there is a lot of food, but the place has no atmosphere and it can get crowded at the grill station such that you'll be waiting quite a while for your grilled food. For just under $21. each you'll get all kinds of sushi including rolls, blocks of tuna sashimi, cooked seafood (including crab legs, and blue crab, also oysters), soups, salads, fruit and desserts. The food ranges from average to very good. At the Mongolian grill station you may choose from shrimp, shaved beef, chicken, Korean short ribs, and then there is a separate area to get other meat and vegetables for a separate grill plate. You may not mix the vegetables into the Mongolian BBQ. After the long wait, I actually didn't like the grilled food as the chef overcooked it all. This place is utter garbage. You would think that LA ups its standards regarding customer service. We went in 30 minutes before the place closes. 10 minutes in, we already got the bill. The lady working there wasn't much help either. I just felt pressured to pay before we even got through our first round of food. Was really impressed with my lunch here. They play CW on the TV in the afternoon which is kinda cool. The restaurant is kept very clean. Very good variety and everything I tried tasted pretty good. All-you-can-eat salmon nigiri (very fresh) and Mongolian-style stirfry (beef, pork, shrimp etc) means you can really get all the protein you need. The crab legs were tiny, overcooked, and didn't have much meat (fresh and nice flavor though!) but that's only the tip of the iceberg of the buffet. Servers don't really speak English and nothing I ate was exceptional, but I think King Buffet is a really great value. Kitchen staff were swapping out the items and everything looked and tasted very fresh, which was a nice suprise. Threw my grandma's birthday celebration here. We reserved a private room area and paid for whomever showed up, plus a reservation fee. I would say that the food is okay. The two stars is mostly due to the lack of variety. This buffet has your usual Asian buffet food, basic sushi choices, very very very basic dessert, and an okay selection for the grilling portion of the buffet. The price we paid per a person made sense from the selection choices but would've rather paid a little bit more for a higher quality food and much more selections. The ambiance seems a little "old" but I did like the chandeliers in the private area that we reserved. I liked how they allowed us to bring our own decor as well. The layout was pretty perfect for an event and was pleased with the service we received... expect you really do have to flag people down for a refill. This place is solid, for a hole in the wall Asian buffet. We always go around 6:00pm, as they seem to put out all new food at that time for the dinner service. Sushi and sashimi is typically pretty fresh for a buffet, their Mongolian BBQ is pretty good, and their hot food buffet area serves the standard fare. That gives them a 3 state rating. The reason I bumped them to a four star rating is because they have these deep fried salt and pepper blue crabs which are delicious, hot and crispy when they are fresh. It's your typical Chinese fare, wings, terriyaki chicken, beef broccoli, fried rice, that weird seafood with mayo in a shell thing that I love. No frills , fill your tummmy kind of thing. I think the grills in the rear is what makes this buffet stand out for me. They will cook pork, chicken, beef or shrimp with Noodles, ' Mongolian' style. There's a grill next to it that cooks pork, beef and chicken. They can cook it a bit dry but at least it's freshly cooked. Went here recently after the pandemic and the lunch price is now the same as the dinner price but without the crab legs.
