This place is DANGEROUS! When I ate here today, March 21st, I was quickly seated. About 90% of the tables were occupied. Social distancing is NOT ENFORCED! Reminds me of how things were pre-COVID days! The staff does NOT tell people how to properly navigate the restaurant. They don't remind people to wear gloves and mask while fetching their food. This causes people to be unaware of the glove rules. People freely walk around without masks and touching everything without gloves on. Instead of enforcing the rules, all the staff just ignore what they see and move on. Not helping with preventing people from getting sick. An icon of a buffet in the greater LA area. No stopping us as we found King Buffet on Western by the 101fwy. Our no1 son likes the Chinese and Mongolian and Japanese and some more Asian dishes. Me, I like that we were close enough to the long displays of the culinary offerings from soups to seafood to steamed to rolled to baked and fried and just a wonderment of prepared foods all for the self serve taking. Yes there is a sign that suggest not to waste. I can somewhat gage that perhaps much is taken but not consumed because of an expectation concern. Yeah it looks good but it taste...not so good. I am just taking it easy by getting a sampling of the unknown and a heaping of those my palette is familiar with. I even had a trip to the Mongolian Grill, but I stopped the mex chef short of dousing everything with a dark brown soy sauce. It was as I liked, fresher vegies and tastier protein. This place is utter garbage. You would think that LA ups its standards regarding customer service. We went in 30 minutes before the place closes. 10 minutes in, we already got the bill. The lady working there wasn't much help either. I just felt pressured to pay before we even got through our first round of food. Was really impressed with my lunch here. They play CW on the TV in the afternoon which is kinda cool. The restaurant is kept very clean. Very good variety and everything I tried tasted pretty good. All-you-can-eat salmon nigiri (very fresh) and Mongolian-style stirfry (beef, pork, shrimp etc) means you can really get all the protein you need. The crab legs were tiny, overcooked, and didn't have much meat (fresh and nice flavor though!) but that's only the tip of the iceberg of the buffet. Servers don't really speak English and nothing I ate was exceptional, but I think King Buffet is a really great value. Kitchen staff were swapping out the items and everything looked and tasted very fresh, which was a nice suprise. This is not a bad buffet and there is a lot of food, but the place has no atmosphere and it can get crowded at the grill station such that you'll be waiting quite a while for your grilled food. For just under $21. each you'll get all kinds of sushi including rolls, blocks of tuna sashimi, cooked seafood (including crab legs, and blue crab, also oysters), soups, salads, fruit and desserts. The food ranges from average to very good. At the Mongolian grill station you may choose from shrimp, shaved beef, chicken, Korean short ribs, and then there is a separate area to get other meat and vegetables for a separate grill plate. You may not mix the vegetables into the Mongolian BBQ. After the long wait, I actually didn't like the grilled food as the chef overcooked it all. Sat down to eat excited to feast but was immediately discouraged when I saw through the small window that leads into the kitchen and saw workers preparing food with no gloves. Actually pretty good. I mean it's a buffet, so you have to adjust your expectations. But all things considered, the food is generally cooked well and decent tasting. HIGHLIGHT: Their pan fried pork dumplings are very good and I would pay money for them in a non-buffet restaurant. This place has the most horrible staff this side of creation. Not only was the food cold AF we found a large straight black hair in our food. We brought this to the attention of the staff and we were forced to wait a half an hour to speak to a manager. I arrived at 3:30 and I advise against this time period(3:30-4:01) because too many items were cold, dried out, empty. For example the Beef&Broccoli had no beef, the fried rolls were soggy. Reduced selection because the trays were swapped saying "Dinner Only" leaving those of us who could not arrive early with a lot less items. The self ice cream station needed a attendant or use a frozen machine. The health risks of a hundred people using the same wet handle and commingling flavors seemed off. Threw my grandma's birthday celebration here. We reserved a private room area and paid for whomever showed up, plus a reservation fee. I would say that the food is okay. The two stars is mostly due to the lack of variety. This buffet has your usual Asian buffet food, basic sushi choices, very very very basic dessert, and an okay selection for the grilling portion of the buffet. The price we paid per a person made sense from the selection choices but would've rather paid a little bit more for a higher quality food and much more selections. The ambiance seems a little "old" but I did like the chandeliers in the private area that we reserved. I liked how they allowed us to bring our own decor as well. The layout was pretty perfect for an event and was pleased with the service we received... expect you really do have to flag people down for a refill. This place is solid, for a hole in the wall Asian buffet. We always go around 6:00pm, as they seem to put out all new food at that time for the dinner service. Sushi and sashimi is typically pretty fresh for a buffet, their Mongolian BBQ is pretty good, and their hot food buffet area serves the standard fare. That gives them a 3 state rating. The reason I bumped them to a four star rating is because they have these deep fried salt and pepper blue crabs which are delicious, hot and crispy when they are fresh. Been here with friends in the past. It was a good place for reasonable eat all you can Chinese cuisine. It's your typical Chinese fare, wings, terriyaki chicken, beef broccoli, fried rice, that weird seafood with mayo in a shell thing that I love. No frills , fill your tummmy kind of thing. I think the grills in the rear is what makes this buffet stand out for me. They will cook pork, chicken, beef or shrimp with Noodles, ' Mongolian' style. There's a grill next to it that cooks pork, beef and chicken. They can cook it a bit dry but at least it's freshly cooked. Went here recently after the pandemic and the lunch price is now the same as the dinner price but without the crab legs. My family comes from the East to visit me during the holidays. We went to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Came to this buffet for dinner. This is a very nice place with a large parking lot. Clean and comfortable. The food is also very complete. The staff's service is also very good. I had a perfect travel experience and dining experience with my family during the holiday. We came here after my son's baptism. We reserved the private area the day before. Their seafood and the grill area was pretty good. My family thought the meat was okay..I liked that there was pizza, fries and chicken for the kids. There's a lot of options and the price is not bad. The employees don't really speak English but they also were NOT rude to us. They were friendly and attentive. It didn't look dirty. The tables, chairs, sal/pepper shakers weren't sticky like most buffet places. If you know, you know. That alone makes this place 5/5 for a not so high end buffet if you ask me. There were many options to choose from in the buffet spanning the perimeter of the dining area, whether you want your classic dinner staples, salad, soup, fruit, dessert, and sushi.
