Was visiting on vacation with my brother in law's family. When we walked in I amazed how nice this place looked. Received a warm welcome by one of their staff members. The wait for a table was not long for a party of 16. Inside this place is huge. I was fascinated how big this restaurant looks like inside. They have different size tables. Their bathroom is cute and clean. The food area clean. The food and desserts here is delicious. We had such a good time and enjoyed our food so much.... It was so good we came here twice in the one week we were here visiting from Philadelphia, PA. Love the Mongolian food and truly enjoy the fresh food choices available. This is one Chinese Buffet that doesn't disappoint. If you can think it, it is probably on their buffet line ... Sushi, Mongolian, desserts, salads, fruits, a chocolate fountain, breads, soups, etc. It was nice to find a buffet that is full and fresh even close to closing time. Pros: Nice and attentive server. Huge buffet. Hot food. Good Mongolian bbq staff. Lots of food options. Cons: Generic food options. Blah and basic buffet quality sushi. Management that doesn't do well explaining their children's meal pricing. Odd seating arrangements. (We were practically in a hallway) And, something that doesn't pertain to most people but affected our experience......they have a military discount, which was nice, BUT the manager required an ID card for everyone he'd discount, thus he did not give the discount for our children because they don't have ID cards (all are younger than 8, so not old enough for cards yet). We appreciate they offer one, and even understand when an establishment offers only to the servicemember, but have never experienced our minor children not receiving it if both of us, their parents, had ID showing we're a military family! read more

This is by far the best mongolian/chinese buffet in-town!!! The place is clean and the food is always fresh, fully stocked and very delicious. The plus is they do have mongolian stir-fry everyday you can pick your own variety of meats and veggies-then you add your very own spices and sauces. I was very surprised as how fast it's made. I remember the original King Buffett, it went out of business a few years back possibly due to bad management, because their food was great. The food here, well, so-so! This place is not bad. My family and I were heading to the hotel from New Braunfels and needed a place to stop and eat since we didn't have a proper meal all day due to being at Schlitterbahn. We chose a buffet so we would not have to wait for food at a restaurant. It wasn't a bad choice. Food was decent. Not everything seemed fresh and it seemed like they were wanting to stop refilling food an hour before closing but that seems like it's a normal thing for them. WARNING Me my boyfriend, and my mother in law got food poisoning from this restaurant, we called and spoke to the manger, SHE told her us we were lying when all 3 of us ate there and got food poisoning. She did not care and kept making excuses to call us back later, that is not right, to not care if your costumes get food poisoning, that's really scary never again, she would not refund us our money, why would we let them keep our money if we got sick ??? Your typical Chinese-Japanese-Americanized food buffet that is all you can eat. However, in this place the food actually taste authentic and delicious (I haven't tried the Americanized Junk Food!, I can't comment on those). Sushi bar is always fully stocked and it is fresh. The sushi makes me nervous because of the warmness of the temperature, but I grabbed a few pieces to try it. It more on the lower side of average (so that was better). Soup was good. Skipped the salad bar. Calamari was better. Still a little too salty, but not mushy clumps of octopus & breading! Overall, the food was better but still only average. Nothing amazing that stood out. Crab legs were swooped up very quickly. They also do to-go boxes by weight. But crab legs are a separate by weight price. Service: Great service, very friendly. Environment: With so many people, this restaurant felt a lot dirtier than when I initially tried it. Food on the floor. But the buffet line itself seemed fairly well-kept but still a little messy. It'd be great if they could hire more staff to maintain the floor better just because of the huge amount of foot traffic. Overall: I could come back again if I'm really, really craving Chinese buffet, but don't come in with the expectations of anything being amazing. I have visited King Buffet about 5 times in the past 12 months. This place is always busy, filled with happy, smiling, hungry people. The staff is courteous and we get seated quickly, as we are just 3 in our group. The food is what I enjoy eating: beef, seafood, chicken, stir fry, salads, crunchy fried delights, desserts of cakes, ice cream and chocolate fondue. Their price is very inexpensive for all I can eat. I am not wasteful and I eat whatever I put on my plate. I eat here because I need salt. I never eat the rice or noodles. I come here for protein and vegetables. I give them five stars because my table is always clean, my food is fresh and they offer a great variety of flavors, the place is monitored well for quality, peacefulness and customer satisfaction, my wait time is short, and the restrooms are always clean. Visited King Buffet last week, and was not impressed at all. Arrived around 7:15, which I would think would still be peak dinner hours, but apparently not. This restaurant obviously cooks mass amounts of food for the lunch hours and leaves them out all day in hot pans. Most of the choices were soggy, over cooked from sitting, or dried up. The crab rangoons were hard, and the cream cheese filling was drying up in the inside from sitting so long. It's sad to think that at a Chinese buffet, the only fresh item on the line of "200+ choices" was potato wedges. The soda was even flat. The Mongolian stir fry area seemed to be the only thing that could save the place, but nope, was wrong again. First of all, the two cooks they had on duty are both de-greasing and scrubbing the floors. Not professional at all to see your chef in cleaning mode, and then the gloves are off and he's cooking your stir fry. We didn't get far enough for the guy to cook us the food anyway, as the shrimp had a large black bug sitting in it. According to reviews on another site, bugs seem to be an issue here. Wish I knew this prior. The only positive feedback I have about this place is the server was nice, and the restaurant was clean. So clean, they scrub and degrease floors during the middle of dinner time lol. Maybe the food here would be decent if I had arrived at noon for lunch, but failing to cook fresh food for the dinner shift is simply unacceptable, lazy business practice on the behalf of ownership. Chopstix and Fortune Cookie, (who are both owned by the same people) are right around the corner from this place. They both cook in small batches all day, and their food is better tasting as well. I would recommend visiting them before King Buffet, hands down. I will not be returning to this place. read more

This place has terrible food. The sushi was old and the rice was terrible in the sushi. The cook wore head phones, so he couldn't even hear you at the Mongolian Barbecue section. The staff are not kind and they don't even want to help find things. I don't recommend this place at all. When I was checking out, it was awkward because they blocked a lady's car because she walked out with an iced tea. That she was already drinking. Very awkward. Not a good place to eat. Well yesterday I stopped in for the first time & Shazam it's one of the best Asian unlimited food buffets in San Antonio along with a Mongolian Grill. Huge selection of appetizers, salads, entrees & desserts. This place is way better than Asian Star & Lin's International. King had the sweetest ripe cantaloupe I've every eaten at a buffet restaurant. The building is huge & very nicely laid out for crowds even though it was slow when I visited on a Friday at 2pm. There are numerous huge TV's to view while eating. Impressive atmosphere in my opinion as it's so huge you don't feel like ur cramped up against other customers. Cleanliness was a priority considering they have to keep up with the public slobs but their staff was always busy attending to business. Prices very reasonable with huge selections of hot delicious foods. Thank you King for providing San Antonio with one of the best affordable Asian buffets available. I've been to King Buffet twice to meet my Chinese cravings. For about $12 per person you can go "Carb kent" and enjoy all of your favorite Chinese favorites. In addition to your traditional Chinese offerings the restaurant has a stir-fry station thay honestly amazing. The other food offerings are good as well but be sure to get things as soon as they come on the line...items tend to get cold quickly.
