It's tucked at the south end of the waterfront park and if you can get a window or outside seating the view itself is worth it. Service is super friendly. The chef came out personally to ask how we like our food. One of our friends is a bit of a talker but the chef politely listened and entertained us. The food was great. The kanpachi crudo was one of the best things any of us have ever eaten, for real. We ended up ordering 2 or 3 of them. The tuna tartare was skippable - did not need that, but should have ordered even more kanpachi instead. My bf loved his roasted cauliflower and desserts were divine. Our new local joint! Just moved here. Wanted something close to home for weekly Happy Hours. We had Francisco as our server. Awesome guy. Will ask to be seated in his area, always. Delicious food. We had the salmon and the risotto with added shrimp. Definitely get an added protein. So good. We also ordered the bread - A MUST. The cocktails were great. My wife and I ate Thanksgiving dinner last night at the King Tide. Her mussel main dish was fine, although she had to ask for a bowl for the shells and a spoon for the broth. I asked the server for a martini and received something he said was made with Smirnoff vodka. My turkey dinner was gawdawful. It was lukewarm and after asking that it be heated, it came back - lukewarm. Then I tried the turkey: there was no white meat and the bits and pieces of dark were tough and chewy. I presume that the kitchen ran short and just threw whatever was left on the plate. and few in amount. We went for dinner at about 6pm and we should've known when it was pretty empty around dinner time on a Friday night. We had the pork shank and the stir fry tenderloin. The stir fry had really good flavor but I dont get why it was served with a oile of fries on top. Just didnt go together and brought down the visual appeal. The the pork shank was boring. I expected a long line for a Portland weekend breakfast. This place was pretty empty. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. Their mimosas are flavored with flavor bubble tea. It did not have much flavor at all. The chicken for the chicken and waffles was crispy and tasty, and the waffle was sweet with vanilla. It was delicious, but not a signature dish. Everything was good, and we came out satisfied, except for my son, who was sad they did not have whipped cream or marshmallows for his hot chocolate. It has a lovely view of the river. I came here because I saw there was a squid ink brioche bun lobster roll, but I didn't see it on the menu. I ended up ordering the lobster roll which was not what I was expecting. The lobster mayo with the orange colored sauce was cold and the brioche bun was quite warm. It basically tasted like lobster coleslaw, so if that sounds appetizing to you, you'll probably like it. It wasn't really a lobster "roll", more of a lobster mayo thick toast. The french fries were delicious though, fried to perfection with the perfect amount of salt. read more

This was our last night in Portland, and we wanted to have a nice night out to eat after hiking all day. We were very disappointed with our experience. For starters, it took over 35 minutes to get our appetizer, then another 20 for our food. Then another 5-10 minutes for my husband's dish. Both kitchen and service were lacking. We also got charged $6 per lemonade when the price on the menu was $4. Service was beyond slow, so by the time we got our check we didn't want to waste even more time dealing with that. Made a last minute reservation here the day of, during the 4th of July weekend. Blues music festival was right outside the window so was a little loud for my mom who was visiting from the East coast. The service and food made up for the bustling atmosphere. Our server was very busy, yet attentive. My halibut was outstanding and the calamari was light and delicious. I could drink the spicy Thai sauce that came with the calamari, it was that good. For the price, the lobster rolls were average in my opinion. I've had better from a food truck. There is parking nearby if you pay for it (garage). Otherwise, there's valet for $10 or you'll need to find a street nearby to park on and hoof it. Also, I never saw a sign for the restaurant outside as it's in a larger building. I'm guessing it's a hotel restaurant because I walked in through a hotel lobby and eventually found it after searching for parking. I would definitely eat here again. read more

Quite possibly the most abysmal service we've ever received. We seriously feel like there was some concerted effort all around by the restaurant staff to make us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. My husband and I decided to get away for a post-holiday overnight and opted to dine here since it was attached to our hotel. We booked a reservation for 7:00 through OpenTable and promptly showed up at our scheduled time. The hostess came over to us, and after a lukewarm greeting, we told her we had a reservation and gave our name. She checked the list and told us she didn't have a reservation under that name. A quick glance into the restaurant confirmed there were many, many open tables, and seeing this register on our faces, she begrudgingly said, "but we do have some open tables so I can seat you." She then proceeded to lead us to one of two tables that had reservation signs on them. So, let me get this straight... You don't have us on your reservation list, but you give us a reserved table? Just as we were seated our waitress approached us, gave us her name (I wish I could remember it, but my mind was still a little puzzled over the whole reserved table bit) and then brusquely went over the menu before saying she'd be back to take our order. Again, struck me as odd that the first two people we encountered seemed hellbent on making us feel unwelcome. While we were perusing the menu, I watched our waitress interact with another table directly to my left as well as a party of four who had by then showed up and were seated at the other reserved table (they were celebrating a birthday.) It was perplexing watching her because as she was interacting with those other two tables, it was like someone had flipped a switch. Lots of warmth, smiles and banter, but once she made her way back over to our table to take our order, zero cordialness and an attitude and tone that indicated she was doing us a favor. After she left again, I looked at my husband and asked what we could have possibly done in the 15-20 minutes we had been there to deserve the service we were getting? Eventually our drinks showed up, as did our appetizer. We had ordered the romaine hearts, and were served romaine leaves doused in a Caesar-like dressing. Not the worst thing I've ever eaten, but I did expect a little more than lettuce leaves slathered in dressing for the price. When our entrees came out, they were delivered without a word by yet a third girl who seemed to have an issue with us. She set our plates down and quickly walked off with no acknowledgment whatsoever. It was pretty well established that the service and appetizer were lacking, but the hits just kept coming. My clam spaghetti was basically about a cup of spaghetti topped with 10-12 small steamer clams. So painfully basic for something priced over thirty bucks. My husband had the fish and chips, and again, nothing great. Could have been worse, but for the price and considering we were in a restaurant that seemingly specializes in seafood, it was disappointing. Another notable thing? One of the ladies sitting to my left also ordered the clam pasta, but the serving she was given was markedly larger, which I suspect is the usual serving size. After that, we were pretty much left alone. Our waitress did come by to fill our water once and asked twice if we wanted more cocktails. She also offered up a dessert menu, but we declined both drinks and dessert. By then I was over it. I just wanted to pay so we could get out of there. If you are considering dining here, I highly recommend not wasting your time or money. And if you decide to throw caution to the wind and dine here anyway, keep in mind that the inflated prices aren't indicative of anything special. They are at the Kimpton waterfront and have a great patio view. The handles are party of 11 effortlessly and service was great!!! The menu is concise but strong options. In our experience several dishes have a kick to them ... crab cakes, the hamburger Mayo definitely surprised us. A group of us come every year to see the Christmas ships and have a holiday dinner together. This was our last time here. A friend and I ordered Shrimp fettuccine. It looked like they either split the order, or gave us each a child's portion. The pasta was cut up like parents do for their children. And the shrimp cut to look like there was more than one shrimp in the dish. It was still pretty clear they were making it look like more than it was. It was dry and tasteless. I asked for a lemon slice and some parm to help the taste. I received a tiny slice and a thimble size portion of parm. Those who ordered the fish and chips got 2 small dry pieces and a plateful of fries. This is pretty much the same experience I had several months ago when they apologized for service issues due to having recently gotten a new chef. 8 friends have dined here together for the past 9 years, to watch the Christmas ships, and celebrate the season. The service was good - they did their best. The food embarrassingly awful. Shame on you! Two of us had the linguini and shrimp. The portion looked as if they split up a full order between us. It was a kids portion. The pasta cut up as a parent might for a child. The shrimp also cut up - would have made 1 whole one. It was dry and tasteless. Asked for a lemon slice and cheese to add flavor - tiny slice of lemon and a thimble portion of parm was given. Still hungry we ordered salads. Fish and chips - fish over cooked and dry, 2 small pieces and a plateful of fries. The only person who enjoyed their meal had scallops, cost $36, $18/piece.
