No words can I say about this place. First viet restaurant I've been to who is owned by a viet owner. All the ones around Chinatown or even flushing are all Chinese owned. BLESS THIS PLACE!!! Thank you for offering decent pho for under $15 in Manhattan! Banh bot loc was not bad (a little soft for my taste, but I love that it's an option as it's kind of hard to find elsewhere). Pho only had the option of dac biet complete with the tripe and the tendons; soup was clear and yummy and a good size. Bun Thit Nuong was very delicious and refreshing with a generous portion size as well with a cheap price tag. Interior is super cute with a good amount of seating and service is very kind and genuinely concerned about your dining experience. Hearing Vietnamese around me from other diners and staff was a huge plus; really hoping these guys stick around so I can get my vietnamese fix without paying out the *** for mediocre pho. We went on their fourth day of their soft opening. I was already excited when I heard both the staff and fellow diners speaking Vietnamese, which in NYC is rare. Food was delicious and CHEAP! Especially for NYC! Please stay affordable! Everything was delicious and the staff was awesome too! I got the pho which had a good broth flavor overall. What I liked about this place was that the menu is very different from the standard Vietnamese fair you will find. Honestly, I was getting bored at other places. There are plenty of classics but here you will find unique regional dishes you won't find elsewhere and they seemed pretty authentic. Me and my family came here around 7pm. They were plenty of tables for them to sit us at. They sat us in front of the dessert & drinks case. We ordered Vietnamese coffee, which was quite too strong for me. It was super dark, and I'm use to a more light Vietnamese coffee. I asked the waitress to add more condensed milk to the coffee but it was still too dark for me. We ordered #8 for our appetizer it was these tapioca clear dumpling things filled with dried shrimp. For our main course I got the bun bo hue, the pork grilled in the betal leaf, and the steamed chicken special. Everything was really good. Our noodle soup dish arrived first. Followed by the grilled pork wrapped in betal leaf and finally the steamed chicken. It was interesting with the pace that everything came out. The bun bo hue was good, I ordered it without the pork blood, there wasn't much noodles in the broth, and the noodles were cut up. But the broth was AMAZING. I couldn't stop drinking it. The neat was tender. The grilled pork in betel leaf was quite good, i liked the char on the leaf and the toppings that came with it. Stopped by for a quick bite in Chinatown and my friend found this new highly rated Viet place on yelp. The place was newly renovated and I love the art on the walls. However, the food was pretty disappointing. My friend and I ordered the bun thit nuong, which is the rice vermicelli salad with grilled pork and spring rolls. Both our orders came with just the spring rolls on the rice vermicelli, no pork. So we let them know and they added the pork. The spring rolls were the hardest spring rolls I've every had. They were over fried, almost stale and were so severely stuck in my teeth that I couldn't eat more than a few pieces. But the rest of the dish and the pork was fine. One of my friends who just had pork over the vermicelli had almost burnt pork. The color was much darker than the one I had. It must have been made with the same batch as my spring rolls. Had high hopes for this place since their banh mi store is authentic. However, in the end, it was no different than any other spot in Chinatown. Quick money grab, cheap with ingredients, cheaply made food. Bun Bo Hue is from jar concentrate, same with the Pho. They barely gave any veggies for the soups. The meats all tasted like ammonia so it's not properly stored. Couldn't even finish the food and on top of it, spring rolls were completely undercooked and raw as pictured. We notice this restaurant and I'm so glad we decided on the wait to sit down and eat. It's a small place but very busy. The food I will say was amazing. Yay to another new viet restaurant in Chinatown! They have a banh mi spot on Elizabeth and when I saw that they posted that they were going to open a sister restaurant I knew I had to try it! The menu is super simple and I think some dishes are a work in progress, but my overall experience was great. The male server was thoughtful and attentive, he really took the time to explain to us the dishes which I appreciate. Also, their space is huge and I can't wait for them to grow as a business and fill up the entire restaurant! I'll start off with the bad so I can end on a good note, the spring rolls weren't great, way too fried, the filling was not flavorful and didn't leave me with a great impression. We got the pork chop over rice which I think was good, it wasn't the best or juiciest pork chop I've had at a viet restaurant in Chinatown, but the egg meat omelette/quiche was the best ever. Super flavorful and tasted so good when dipped in the nuoc nam. The rice noodle was definitely my fave and anyone who comes here should try it. They recommend it to be served dry so you can get their special sauce paired with the noodles and have the soup on the side. Definitely do this! It does get a bit hard to mix so I ended up pouring some soup into the bowl to make it easier to eat. The pork liver is a bit dry and overcooked but I think that's because they use it to make the soup. I would really like if there were pieces of pork liver that was cooked just before serving. We requested to return the banh canh cua back to replace for another dish, but they wouldn't allow it. We were charged full price and why? She had one sip and it was not something she could stomach after tasting it. Let me preface by saying that we don't usually send items back in this manner unless it was something we really couldn't enjoy. And for the establishment to deny that and not replace it with something else was a huge slap in the face. I'm also Vietnamese and it just felt like I was betrayed. Anyways, I will never be coming back to this establishment. Our server tried to call the owner regarding our situation and they refused to take the dish back over the phone. Delicious food. Every single thing I've had here is very good. The curry noodles, bun , pho, dessert, tofu, drinks, spring rolls... my favorite place on Chrystie to go to. Always lively. Desserts in glass case are fun to try. Always something new. They have a green Thai tea which looks amazing; I've never had the green version before. Chill vibes. Nice service and attentive workers. I love this place. I've been going to them when they started as a banh mi spot on Elizabeth St. Now they have opened a sister location as a full restaurant. They have a great flavorful Bun Bo Hue. I believe they only have like 2 Pho Soup noodle items, we tried the Pho Bo Co Ut which is their traditional pho. Their other pho option is the pho ga which is chicken pho. Food is on point, and authentic. They need to work on improving service and the drink options. The coffee is either too weak or has a heavy burnt taste. But I didn't come here for the coffee. I came here for the broth. I was disappointed that they don't have the Bun Rieu available anymore. Hopefully, it will be brought back. But other than the improvement needed on service and their drinks, I would of gave them a full 5 stars. But I still love this place and their original sandwich shop. read more

I really really wanted to like this place as it's a younger, modern aesthetic with the same Viet classics I'm used to (in Chinatown!!!), but there were a lot of little things that needed to be polished before becoming a staple. Overall though, solid place for a solid price. We came on a Thursday evening as a party of two, and when one of us was quite late (15 minutes), they were really patient and not pushy at all. It was pretty early (6:30PM) so it wasn't very busy, and the place was mostly filled with young Asian people, which was a good sign that the place is legit. The first sign of trouble was that we were given plain black and white print paper menus, which didn't really bother me until they asked for them back (presumably to reuse for new customers), but at the same time had laminated drink menus...it was all a little strange. We went with the passion fruit lemonade, an order of spring rolls, summer rolls, classic pho dac biet, and a bun bo hue. The food came out pretty quickly, which was a plus, and the drinks were perfect (just sweet enough). The summer rolls came first which tasted just as I'm used to, but the dipping sauce was off -- it was spicy, for some reason, which was unexpected. The spring rolls came after and (as is customary) we were given two small lettuce leafs for four piping hot, just out of the fryer, rolls. The filling was good but had an overpowering white pepper flavour that was off-putting. The fish sauce was also not fishy enough for my liking, so overall, the appetisers were meh. Our mains came shortly after -- I have to say, the broths of both were superb (tested out before addition of any accompaniments like lemon, thai basil, or bean sprouts). Both were a good size as well. I didn't try my partner's pho (save for the soup), but can say my bun bo hue's noodles were on point, but the filling was a little sad compared to other bomb bun bo hue's I've had (where's the red cabbage???) -- the filling was a bit sparse and there wasn't enough blood cake (this is an Asian dish, don't be afraid to go gamey). I was actually pretty full from the appetisers, so I really only took one or two bites before becoming stuffed. The waitress came over later and asked if she could clear the table...which was odd because it was clear that my main was almost all there. I asked for a doggie bag, and while I would normally be ok with doing it on my own, with a soup, this process could get (and did) particularly messy, so I was taken aback when she came back with a *wet* quart container for me to fend for myself. Overall, fine place to eat, but the smaller things like service and oddities of the staple appetisers was a bit offputting. read more

I was impressed that they had some dishes most places here don't offer (+1). We ordered the cha gio, bun Bo hue (bbh) and the bun thit nuong. The cha gio was well made with the spices (8/10). My bf ordered the BBH and he said it was decent, just more of the sweeter side (but you can adjust the spicy levels using condiments 7/10). Lastly the bun thit nuong is pretty on point compared to other viet joints I've been to here. The pork was nicely marinated and grilled (8.5/10) Overall, I would come back again. Great pho spot! I highly recommend! Got the beef pho, summer rolls, bun Chai. The beef pho was good! The broth had a nice sweet flavor to it. The summer rolls were made fresh as the noodles were still hot when I picked them up. The peanut sauce was good too. It had a little kick to it too.
