This restaurant has THE BEST authentic pho tai I really missed having pho in Chinatown. The broth is hearty, I love the type of noodles and the amount they add in, the amount of beef slices and sizing is very good. Everything that comes with it is great. Pho brought back some fond memories. Was able to fill my craving and left happy. We ordered the bun gcuon too. Feel like there wasn't much meat in it though but still very good flavor and cucumbers and stuff the pork slices were enough and the sauce was very excellent. Another 11:30 am family lunch at Thai Son. 3 of us ordered the pork chops and spring roll vermicelli. My brother ordered the beef cube and my mom ordered a small bowl of #1. We were quiet as we ate and devoured our food. We were quite happy with it. The staff stopped by twice to remove our empty plates and bowls. It was comfortable since we were not rushed since there were open tables to be filled. I ordered a side of the pickle carrots and daikon which tasted okay. It's been almost a decade since I've dined here and portion sizes stayed the same but the flavor of the broth is not as soothing as I remember. We came on a below freezing day to get pho to warm up and were satisfied. Not sure why they don't give the mint leaves and lime anymore but some type of herb and lemons instead for garnishing. First off, the cơm tấm sườn bì chả rice place is a huge serving--I moved the meat cuts and it was FOUR separate pieces. I was shocked but thoroughly satisfied. No chili oil (my preferred favorite) but they do have freshly cut green chilis which do pack the heat. Also, as soon as I saw the soda egg yolk, I knew I couldn't leave without it. Lots of unique choices like tendon, intestine, tripe, frog legs, fish paste, fermented shrimp, etc. it's a great place for an adventurous eater. I recently ordered their BBQ Pork Banh Mi, which came out to ~$15.50! (A bit pricey for a banh mi, if you ask me.) However, I was so hungry that I devoured it - it was delicious! I got the bun cha gio when I went and it was pretty solid. The egg rolls were crispy and SOOO big. I had heard great things about this place, even that they are Michelin recommended so I was quite excited to try their pho. Perhaps I just need a second taste, but it was not as crazy as I expected. It tasted pretty standard to me but that doesn't mean it wasn't good. I thought they had really great broth. However it just didn't really stand out to me. An issue I did notice however, was a mischarge. I got charged for an item for $7 more than what was listed on the menu. I think they made a mistake but I didn't notice until I had gotten home, so I decided to let it go. However, despite that, the charges still didn't add up to the total that was written on the bill. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but unfortunately I will not be returning to this spot anytime soon. This place can get crowded and boy they give a lot of noodles for their number 1 option on their menu, Xe Lua! It's an extra large bowl of pho! I ordered the pho to go and since it was raining, it was nice that the food was packaged in a brown paper bag along with a plastic bag to go. Double packaging. Once I got back to work, I opened the bag and took out the contents and immediately knew it was a lot of food. The soup broth was to the top and I tried to fill the bowl with all the noodles and it doesn't work. Noodles were very slender and smooth and the seasoning of the broth made the noodles very savory and juicy. Apart from the slices of beef and brisket, there was a piece of mint, bean sprouts, lemon wedge, scallions, chives, and cilantro. So many ingredients to spice up the soup. Solid choice for Vietnamese food in Chinatown! I will say that most Vietnamese food in Chinatown is a bit more Chinese-Vietnamese but I heard Vietnamese being spoken by the staff in the restaurant so that is pretty authentic. The restaurant is quite busy and lively but there are many seats and food came very quickly, about 5-10 minutes after we ordered, maybe even less. We dined here tonight with some friends. My husband and our friends really like this place. The service is good and the staff are friendly. The restaurant is clean and is always busy, which is a good thing. I'm the only one with diet restrictions so I ordered summer rolls with shrimp and vegetables and peanut sauce as well as combination Of Seafood On Crispy Egg Noodle. I enjoyed the summer rolls and the seafood dish. The only thing I didn't like about the seafood dish with crispy noodle was that a small part of the noodles was burnt. I cut that part out.
