Seating is not super comfortable and they pack you in for real, the restaurant is also unnecessarily dark and loud - But not in a bad way? I've been eating L&B Spumoni Gardens for as long as I can remember, and it remains exactly what it's supposed to be: loud, crowded, unpretentious, completely its own thing, and ridiculously good. The square slice is the square slice. Sauce on top, cheese underneath, crispy edges, soft center. Don't overthink it. Get one. Then realize you should have gotten two. The sit-down food is classic Brooklyn Italian comfort food, the portions are generous, and obviously you finish with the spumoni. This isn't precious food and it isn't trying to impress anybody. That's precisely the point. Brooklyn has changed about 9,625,247 times in my lifetime. L&B is still L&B. Five stars. Always.

We visited as a stop on Scott's Pizza Bus Tour, which meant we were actively evaluating it against some of the best pizza in the city. Evaluating pizza on a tour is tricky because excellence becomes relative when you are eating multiple high-end pies in a single afternoon. According to Scott, Brooklyn DOP began in founder Thomas Ardito's apartment during the 2020 lockdowns. With his primary work on pause, he started baking pizza and selling pies through Instagram to pay his rent. People kept ordering. His friend Jason D'Amelio joined the effort, and what started as an apartment project turned into pop-ups and eventually a brick-and-mortar shop on 5th Avenue in Park Slope. That is a considerably more compelling origin story than a corporate franchise business plan. The setup in Park Slope includes a quiet back courtyard, which offered a comfortable spot for our group to sit, eat, and recover between stops. It feels relaxed and distinctly Brooklyn without trying too hard to remind you where you are. The pizza itself is very good. The crust strikes a proper balance between a crisp bottom and a chewy interior. The toppings are handled with care, from the crushed tomatoes to the fresh mozzarella. This is dough crafted by people who take fermentation seriously rather than relying on pre-packaged shortcuts. On its own merits, the pizza is a solid 4.5 stars. Unfortunately for Brooklyn DOP, it was competing on a tour against places operating on another plane. It is an excellent pie, but it was not the single slice that caused the entire tour to fall silent in collective awe. Still, that is an aggressive standard to hold against any local shop. Brooklyn DOP offers a great courtyard, a serious approach to dough, and a standout product. Landing just shy of five stars says far more about the sheer volume of elite pizza we ate that day than it does about the shop itself. Four stars. And if you are not spending the afternoon riding around New York with Scott Wiener eating pizza at some of the finest pizza joints the 5 boroughs have to offer, you can probably bump that half-star back up.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!! I never write anything usually but that was too much. Almost spent the night in the HOSPITAL. I ordered baked ziti calzone and fettuccine Alfredo. Got delivery ok time calzone was just fine baked ziti was really dry very little sauce which all of that are ok I'm not complaining the problem was when me and my girlfriend tried the fettuccine Alfredo it was very sour no big deal its happen still no complain the problem was when I call the restaurant to tell them the Alfredo is sour to check it before they give to other client ( didn't ask any money back wasn't mad at the time also I didn't ask for new dish) first reaction was you wrong it's not Sour then they got the manager on the phone ( I didn't ask for him) and he said it's impossible that I'm wrong I said what's wrong with u guys I just call to let u know its bad I'm throwing it to the garbage I don't want anything just LETTING you know and say good night and hang up the phone. I was sure they will send me at least a new dish or something I live 3 blocks away. 15 minutes after me and my girlfriend got food poisoning and went to sleep at 7 am Thank you knapp pizza f******* up my night and my body. Needless to say, over the years I have easily spent more money here than every review writer here combined. With that, allow me to say that the food is Great. I constantly order from them and don't intend to stop anytime soon. Great dishes and pizza. The penne a la vodka and shrimp parmigiana are personal favorites, as well as all of their heroes. Their menu is a mainstay in my menu drawer. They always throw in a few free zeppoles and for that I commend you knapp pizza. The one thing that makes this 4 stars and not 5 is consistency. Throwing pickled vegetables into a salad kinda gives the impression that you don't care. (I.e. family guy skit about pizzeria salads lol. It's spot on). Some things are pricey.. But hey nothing in life is perfect. They're pretty darn close tho. Even if you don't have a menu don't hesitate to call up and order your favorite dish. P.S. These guys are not even Italian! I've been to the other two Knapp Pizza's and the food there was fantastic! I had the pleasure to speaking to the owners of Knapp 1 and Knapp 2. Two brothers from Palermo, Sicily. I figured Knapp 3 was also theirs, so the food was also going to be fantastic...Whaaaat! Night and day! So I ask the guy: "why aren't you using the same recipes as the other two stores? When the guy got defensive and arrogant I realized that he couldn't be of the same upbringing as the two brothers of Knapp 1 and 2 ( both had an italian accent ) and after a bit of research I found out that the owners of Knapp 3 are Albanian! They just decided to feed off the name the Brothers from Sicily built over 25 years. Bad imitation! I'll stick to the original. read more

Knapp Pizza III - the revenge of mediocrity. Seriously there is NOTHING, but NOTHING that stands out as GOOD at this Pizzeria. Granted, it ain't that bad but really, who wants "it ain't that bad?" I must say that the delivery from this place is unbelievable - I have gotten mail order shyt faster. If I hadn't seen the delivery guy myself I'd have to guess he's a 101 year old with a humpback and a bad leg - but what ya gonna do. If your too lazy to cook or take a trip to a restaurant, you have to take what you get. On the upside they have a 75% success factor in getting your order right so if you are into gambling, like the thrill of the unknown and figure you might get hungry later - order from Knapp III now. read more

I love this italian place. The owners are very nice people, they always can give you an advice if you are not sure what you want. The food is delicious. I usually order pizzaiola steak or spagetti carbonara, mozzarella sticks and eggplant rollatini. My favorite pizza is Sophia Loren. Last few times when I was there I had couple of appetizers and a bottle of wine on the house. You don't see this kind of treatment very often. Prices are very, affordable perfect match of quality and price. Pizza is OK, but it's the STAFF that gives this place only one star. The two twin brothers that run this place are rude and sarcastic. They make customers feel uncomfortable and it's like they're snubbing you off when you make an order. I worked around the corner from them for 2 years and all I could say is that even though the food is good Marco and his brother (the owners) , gotten really rude even to old customers. It would not only up the amount of foodie pics on the Instagram but also give me the chance to Yelp and perhaps direct others to what we found. A win win scenario for sure. So my dear friend from the region joined me for a quick pizza lunch and I ordered a slice and a square while my friend only had a single regular slice. Diet Coke and Sprite were the drinks and we sat and chatted to catch up while enjoying this quality offering. Now I can say that there were a ton of different varieties of pizza at Mancini's but I just wanted the regular versions for this visit. The place itself is cozy and the staff very friendly and I will most certainly go back but only after I get some of the other places on my personal list checked off. Mancini's is a high recommendation for those who happen to be nearby or those who can order and have one of the delivery people bring them something. It's important to share this little bit of news as while we ate my friend told me that Mancini's had actually won the Pizza Wars but I wasn't sure which version of their pies won the prize. Apologies for that detail being missing but congratulations to Mancini's on their accomplishment.

My work buddy who used to work in this section of Brooklyn told me this is the best pizza Brooklyn has to offer. Then my Yelp buddy Lesley O. messaged me and said I have to try this spot. Sold! I'm going to have a slice at La Casa Bella. Walking in at noon, I have the place to myself. Nothing fancy at La Casa Bella, the restaurant looks like a typical New York pizza joint. There are people coming in to pick up whole pies. First time here I'm going in with their famous Vodka slice & Grandma Sicilian slice. The people behind the counter are nice, we all start chatting about the neighborhood (I won't tell them I live in Stony Brook) I grab a soda and take the table by the window. First bite of the Vodka slice, all I can say is wow! Everything is fantastic on this pizza: the sauce is award winning, the quality of the cheese and the dough has the right amount of thin with a wonderful undercarriage, This pizza was cooked just right. Florida couldn't touch this pizza with a 10 foot pole. First time here, I'm 5 Yelp stars out of the gate. Next time I visit, I'm ordered a whole, just out of the oven pizza.

It is usually not very busy for dine in when I go, with more takeout orders and solo diners stopping in for quick meals. Food wise, I have not tried their pizzas yet. The Francese was good, while the veal missed the mark for us, a bit chewy and slightly off, though it may have just been that particular cut. Chicken Francese was better but the pasta came out too tart. The Marsala and clam sauce are fine and decent, but dont particularly stand out compared to other Italian spots in Brooklyn. The penne vodka was good. Overall, it is a solid local option for an quick and easy meal, but not somewhere I would specifically travel for.
