I wanted to mention that I thoroughly enjoy the thicker cut sashimi, especially coupled with a thin fine slice. I get a meatier feel with the thick and of course a lighter sense with the thin. She was all good and nice until she scared us throwing the check on our table, rushing us to pay for the check, and making us uncomfortable by giving attitudes that we were sitting there for a long time. I understand that we were talking after we were done eating, but it's not like we were just sitting there without ordering. At Kobe Sushi, you get a pretty good bang for your buck! It's across the street from the Sleep Train Arena. My bf and I came here after watching a Kings game and sat at the sushi bar. We were given edamame and miso soup when we sat down, which were nice complimentary appetizers. Most of the sushi rolls are about $8-10 and are on the larger side. I ordered the taiko roll, which consists of salmon, tuna, crab salad, avocado, cucumber, and daikon ($8) and comes with 8 large pieces. My bf ordered the sesame chicken donburi ($7.95). The quality of the chicken was good but not great. Not very authentic tasting. I prob would order something else next time - maybe stick to the sushi! Overall, we ate for less than $20 between the two of us, and we had a satisfying meal. Can't really beat that. Service was quick, and there was ample parking in the lot out front. read more

This Place is excellent. I really like the environment is very good. The service is very on point and and employees are very friendly. The quickly brought miso soup. Very warm and great tasting. Then I ordered the natomas roll and spider roll. Their were extremely delicious. The spider roll was very large and has amazing flavor. Perfect amount of spice. And the natomas was really good also. Had some tuna on the top with a spicy tang. My preference would Be the spider. Sometimes getting your rolls can take some time and I wish some would be more tightly rolled. Overall amazing place. On top of being friendly upon entry, the sushi was cut generously, the miso soup was hot and everything was very fresh. I'm sure with a city full of sushi snobs and midtown sushi restaurants so close by, not many people have heard of Kobe. I feel comfortable enough to come alone, and excited enough to being a table full of people. For $18 I got 13 pieces of thickly sliced sashimi, edamame, miso soup, rice and a small salad. WE GAVE THEM ANOTHER TRY, MISTAKE! We use to go here about 3 to 4 years ago. The food got so bad, we stopped going. Our meals would arrive after a lengthy wait and would be like warm and not very good. We recently returned to give them another try. Unfortunately, the experience was the same. The sushi did not taste fresh and the bento box had tasteless Salmon and gyoza that had been sitting on heat for quite some time. They were dry and tasted of grease. The ingredients they use are not only cheap, they taste cheap. The Salmon was a huge disappointment. Ok, so we are moving to Natomas from Downtown Sac soon and we have been scouting out new places to eat. We love CF Cheng's that's located in a business area off of Arena Blvd. and we saw this little Japanese place across the parking lot. We decided to try it last night...what a mistake. First off, the young woman who waited on us was fantastic! She was personable, attentive, and efficient. The other guy, whom I assumed was the owner, was maskless when we came in and remained so the entire time, seated us and then disappeared and left us sitting there with filthy menus...I'll get to that later...and that young woman had to ask us 7 minute later if our drink order had been taken. He appeared later to loudly talk about personal stuff in front of customers. Ok, now on to the interior. It smelled weird and funky...like something rotten. The mens bathroom was DISGUSTING! The toilet had feces splashed all over the seat and rim, there were pubic hairs everywhere, there was urine all over the rim and floor, and the automatic flush was not working. The sink was dirty, the door handle had God knows what on it. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Now for the food. We order three rolls and an appetizer. The miso soup and the potato croquettes were good, but the two vegetarian rolls were bland and the spicy tuna roll was super gross and a weird pink color that I've never seen before with tuna. It looked like cat food. The flavor was off as well. We didn't complain, we just ate some the food, tipped the server well for having to work there and promptly left. Been here many times and decided to write a review so others can enjoy this hidden gem. Never been unsatisfied with the food or service. Best bargain is ordering the dinner special. You get sunomono, some tempera, some meat dish like tonkatsu, sesame chicken or teriyaki, and three rolls of sushi for under $40. The tempera is light and crispy, and the sushi rolls are unique and tasty. The katsudon is also delicious. A big bowl of rice with a meat & egg mixture with a sweet soy sauce. It is ordered every time we eat here. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

Ordered togo after reviewing the menu online, and picked out a daily special on the sushi roll (rocky) and the chicken breast chicken terriyaki. Chicken terriyaki is just okay, the rocky roll is absolutely delicious. Rating would have been higher however they did not honor the prices advertised for their specials online saying that they don't own the website... I use to love this restraunt. But over time they really stopped caring about quality. Ive given this restraunt multiple chances and each time my rolls are made with ingredients that are clearly far from fresh. Things like avocados and salmons are discolored showing they been sitting out too long. Which is a shame since the restraunt has officially up their prices despite the food quality going down. Kobe Sushi satisfies my need for a neighborhood sushi restaurant within a short driving distance from my house. Not necessarily special enough to recommend anyone from outside of Natomas to trek to Kobe Sushi, but good enough as a Natomas resident to satisfy my sushi/Japanese food cravings when I want something quick and close. I recommend the bento boxes and the various sushi options. We have had the same waitress that last couple of times we have been there and she has been friendly and helpful with selecting items from the menu. She was attentive but we never felt rushed. I went here for lunch today and I must say I really enjoyed it. It's nothing 'special' per se - but I was able to satisfy my 'real sushi' craving instead of just settling for pre-made Bel Air sushi (which I love, don't get me wrong). I ordered a Spicy Tuna Hand Roll and Catalina Roll (CA roll with salmon and lemon on top). I wouldn't say that the Spicy Tuna was the best I've ever had but it was very tasty! There are tons of special rolls to choose from as well as an assortment of Bento boxes. I also really enjoyed the complimentary miso soup - despite the heat outside I drank every last drop. It's no substitute for super high end places but for a local-you're-on-your-own-craving (and I get them a lot, let's be honest) it'll definitely do the trick! The hostess/waitress wasn't much for personality or genuine happiness but she was attentive and took care of my needs. The sushi chef never really acknowledged me but perhaps that's because I sat a table instead of the bar. I'm a bit bummed that it seems that there were discounts from 2-5 and I was there at 1:30 - but I'll keep that in mind for next time! I'm sure I'll be back soon enough! read more

Found the place on yelp and with the 4+ star reviews I gave it a try. Walked in party for 1. Was offered dining or the bar, I chose the sushi bar. The server brought me a bowl of soup (I did not eat it, it was over 100* outside. What a waste) Started with edamame, it was meh. Tasted days old. Order a 3 Putt roll and a Natomas Roll. One of them had eel and it was kinda nasty, stringy and chewy. The other had tuna on top, and it was darker purple than I'm used too, oxidized? Old? I did not finish my sushi and I ALWAYS finish my food! Above all of this, the service was minimal. No personality, no hospitality. I won't be coming back nor will I recommend. My goto will always be Mikuni/Taro's sushi, but I'm still on the hunt for a GREAT sushi spot in Natmoas read more

I've had Pepper Fin at many places and I like it here the best. The slices are not too thick or thin and the fish sits on top of a bed of daikon. The Barbecue Albacore is VERY good as well. We didn't get waited on for about 10 minutes after we sat down. The menu was broken and tattered. Food was good but the setting was a disappointment. The restaurant was not a high caliber place that you envision a Japanese restaurant to be. The restaurant actually had carpet (which was stained). The bowls were chipped and broken. I have gone round and round with different sushi restaurants across the Sacramento area and have yet to find a restaurant that checks most/ all of the important boxes as Kobe has. From Kobe's fresh and quality fish, to presentation, location, experienced sushi chefs, affordable prices and consistency. While Kobe is not your mid town party sushi spot, they provide a pleasant and family friendly atmosphere with an awesome local mom-and-pop feel.. David the sushi chef has been a dedicated and loyal employee for many years now, we have enjoyed many conversations with over the years. One of the highlights of this sushi spot is that they don't skimp on the quantity of fish they put in the rolls, their rolls are definitely on the cost friendly side while still maintaining their awesomeness. I was in the area and this happened to be the only sushi restaurant that was on my way. The restaurant itself is a small cozy joint. It was clean and at the time I entered, the restaurant was pretty empty with the exception of a couple dining with their toddlers. Service was quick. I got the same roll that I always get elsewhere and it wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. I did like that they had happy hour on their rolls.
