I added a soda, $10 for lunch not a bad deal... food good and filling. Served in a cardboard container lined with paper... Up to you whether you lick it or not~ lol!! Cool vibe upon entering this fast casual brick & mortar place! Order at the counter... No waiting the day I went. They give you a buzzer so you know when you're order is ready! While waiting I did my due diligence on the Koja story! It says what a lot of us know; Started with a Food truck was on Triple D with Guy Fiero on Food Network in 2013. I tried KoJa Kitchen after my brother kept telling me how great it is. He wanted me to try their dishes, so I ordered the original KoJa and the beef bowl. My brother was right- this place is excellent. Each bite is an explosion of flavor, and the prices are also impressive. I've already been twice, and I hope to be back multiple times. It's a new addition to my craving palette. The ordering process is easy. There is no indoor dining, but I personally prefer to eat at home anyway. However, there are tables and chairs outside. There is an ordering screen when you walk in that sends you a text when the order is ready. Came here for lunch around 1 PM on a Wednesday. This place is new in Dublin so we decided to try it out. The line was out the door when we arrived. The restaurant is pretty small, so it's understandable. I ordered the short rib plate with an egg. The food came out fairly quick. The plate was a good size, but the meat was a little lacking. It comes with some salad, rice and kimchi. I thought the short rib was a little on the sweeter side, I wish I had asked them to add some of the gochujang sauce to spice it up a bit. What an explosion of flavors!! We first tried and loved kamikaze fries when KoJa was still a food truck. Those fries are still one of our favorite items on the menu. Crispy waffle fries are topped with chopped Korean bbq beef, kimchi, red sauce, Japanese mayo and green onions. I like to get extra red sauce and Japanese mayo. Yum!! The short rib bowl with a fried egg is our other favorite item on the menu. The short rib is tender and coated with a sweet and savory glaze. It's definitely the tastiest meat on the menu! The bowl comes with seasoned rice, mixed greens, kimchi, aioli, masago. What a wonderful mix of flavors and textures and the added fried egg puts it over the top!! I enjoy the lighter ahi tuna salad which is like a poki salad. Big chunks of fresh ahi tuna are tossed with a wasabi mayo over a bed of spring mix. FUSION ISN'T ALWAYS BAD The word at times take a negative tone as it's a mixture of multiple ethnic cuisines. If I was eating at an upscale eatery I would have a problem with fusion concept. However if I'm eating at a casual eating place I have no problem at all with fusion. I came here once with my friend for dinner. He was craving for Korean as he heard about this place even though he never ate here before. When we came here we thought this place was only a Korean cuisine. As we looked at the menu we noticed the cuisine wasn't strictly Korean. He asked the manager if this was a Korean eatery. The manager said no as this place was a fusion of different cultures - American-style burger with an Asian twist, Asian rice bowls, and Mexican tacos. Since we were hungry we decided to stay. I ordered several items. The frozen strawberry mango mint lemonade was refreshing as the icy texture reminded me of an Icee drink, but without the brain freeze. I liked how the mint enhanced with mango and strawberry. Also the mint balanced the sweetness of the mango and strawberry. The short rib bowl was the best item on the dish as the short rib was tender and the rice made it filling. I liked kamikaze fries with the waffle fries, mixture of sauces, and meat as the different combinations provided different flavors. However I made a mistake of ordering this dish since I already ordered the short rib bowl that had rice; having a rice bowl and fries are too many carbs for dinner. The one item I didn't like was the Korean buffalo wings. I was thinking these wings would have the sweetness of Korean wings with a little tang. I can see myself coming here again. If I do come I would order items with the Korean BBQ beef such as the koja or taco salad. I might even try the miso-coconut braised pork to make the comparison between it and the Korean BBQ beef. Second time coming to this place and love it! This place is located in the Persimmon Place in Dublin and is it right next door to Yalla Mediterranean. Parking in this area can be a pain. We decide to come here on a Sunday around 4:30pm and the parking lot was already almost packed. We were lucky enough to find a spot. From Food truck to brick and mortar. The newest KoJa Kitchen in Dublin's Persimmon Place delivers the original food truck experience with edgy creativity and flavors that pop. The decor reflects the fusion of Ko (Korea) and Ja (Japan) with black signs highlighted in red surrounded with black and white tables to match the similarly contrasting floor tiles. Coincidentally the area where you order is small and the two stations are reminiscent of having to order through the side of a truck. On each visit to KoJa I've gone with a group and was able to sample most of the items in the menu. Although the Dublin location is only a few months old I was able to get the group seared together without too much trouble. Unlike the opening weeks, now if you time it right you can order and get seated fairly quickly. Best items has got to be anything with the Korean BBQ short ribs. Tender chunks of short ribs marinated in in Korean soy and garlic sauce. Your choices are the burger with crispy rice buns, or the bowl that served over Japanese short grain rices with a side spring salad. I like to savor the short ribs over the softer rice in the bowls, but get the burger if you like the crunch of the crispy baked rice cakes. The fries are all a must and are like an explosion of flavors in your mouth. Both are served over waffle fries. The Kamakazi has minced korean bbq beef, kimchi, japanese mayo, and green onions' while the Umami comes topped with miso-coconut braised pork, and garlic aioli. TIP: Get the red sauce and kimchee on the side so the fries stay crispy and your taste buds don't get too confused. The service has been surprisingly good each time I've visited. And for that price, you're better off getting a similar poke bowl from somewhere else. My salad felt like there was only a few chunks of tuna, like only six pieces really, ugh! The taste was clean, but I likely won't be ordering this again that's for sure. Korean Buffalo Wings ($7.99), six (or seven) pieces. Great tasting wings, but not crispy. Loved the sauce, but they soaked the wings in them. So don't expect Korean FC style. These were also flavorful, but again let's just say with ordering just the salad and wings I had already spent $20. Tacos: Beef ($3.49), Braised Pork ($3.59), Chicken ($3.09). Oh man, now these I would definitely order again! These guys had talent! The beef was succulent, the pork just smelled coconut juicy good, and the chicken was pretty sexy as well! With these, I think it's all about the mayo and aioli sauce depending on which one you get. Short Rib Bowl ($9.99 + an egg for $1.25 more), now this I also enjoyed! Excellent food in a noisy, small environment. I was planning to go next door to Yalla Mediterranean, but decided to give the new small restaurant a try. My experience was mixed. I was a little put off by the cashier at front, who, as others have mentioned, tends to have a surly attitude. She didn't seem to be terribly interested in explaining the choices to me, so I sort of muddled through. I decided to get a chicken teriyaki bowl for $7.99. My order was ready in about 5 minutes, which seems reasonable to me. I found the chicken bowl to be very tasty indeed! A little on the spicy side, which was just perfect. It's served on a metal tray. I found it to be just the right portion size for a medium person like me. If you are a ravenous teenage boy, it will probably not be enough for you. After you place your order, you pick up your order after your electronic device chimes. You pick up at the left side of the counter, which now has a clear sign, PICK UP. In stark contrast to the cashier, the pick-up counter person was very friendly. The restaurant is pretty crowded inside. The tables along the wall are very close to each other so it's tight quarters. The music is also pretty loud, along with two big screen TVs adding to the ambience. So if you're looking for a quiet meal, this is not the right place for you. The decor is brick with lots of chrome and black. On the Plus side,, the menu is really excellent, and I thought my dish was prepared very well. I'm going to give it another try. I think I can live with a little bit of surliness. Also, after I finished my meal I had a great experience with one of the employees who was incredibly helpful and cheerful. He gave me a lot of background on the restaurant and the type of food they serve here. He explained what their main KOJA product really is. He also made some good recommendations for my next visit. This place blew me away! I came in not even hungry, but saw the photos, smelled the food, and absolutely had to try a Beef Koja. The beef was juicy and the flavors excited my taste buds. I LOVED the fried garlic rice patty!! I could not even believe my eyes. It was amazing. The kamikaze fries were delicious and the Korean Buffalo Wings were exciting, but nothing beat the Beef Koja. The people working there were sweet and I loved that the girl informed me the wings would take a little bit longer than the food. Upon entering, you order at the the cashier desk then patiently watch the fellow patrons eat and you wait for your buzzer to vibrate. Then, just pick up your food at the back counter, grab any utensils you'll need and find a seat. Food ordered: 1. Tacos: I got a beef taco and a braised pork taco. Both had a good amount of meat to fresh salad ratio, and had delicious flavors. 2. Short Rib Plate: Whenever I go to KoJa, I get the short rib plate. The meat is flavorful and super tender, and when paired with the simple salad and rice, the flavors of the short ribs are enhanced and it's so delicious. New to koja? no problem, try the orginal Koja burger. Fried rice patty, with delicious beef squished in the middle with some greens. Not enough? complement it with some kamikaze fries. Want to try the pork? then opt for the umami fries. The bowls do seem like a little more meat and less rice if you don't want to go too carb heavy, but otherwise it's very similar and the burger is very insta worthy :) Warning: Their housemade lemonades are VERY sweet. read more

I've been here multiple times since I work super close by. I've even introduced this place to my team haha I usually get the original koja and it's pretty filing! It can get pretty messy though so I always ask for a small paper bowl/plate they have. Sometimes it's given to you and other times you have to ask for it. The original koja is what I usually recommend people to try but if they don't want to try a fried rice burger, then I would recommend the short rib bowl. Pretty much the exact same thing except it's in a bowl! I don't think I've ever really had a big issue with this place. I mean sometimes there's too much sauce on the burger and it gets even more messier to eat, but I don't really care. Other than that, it's a bit pricey but worth a try if it's your first time. Oh! What's a KoJa? I posted a picture of a diagram that they have on the wall in the restaurant. They say it's like a burger, but with rice instead of a bun. There was a lot of hype around this place opening in Dublin, so we had to check it out. (Also, KoJa comes from Korean-Japanese.) We ordered 2 KoJa's, a bowl, and a side of Kamikazi Fries. When the food came, I was a little disappointed in the size of the KoJa's. I'm used to ordering burgers that are larger than that. However the KoJa's were packed with flavor. They were delicious and carried enough flavor for a larger sandwich. But in the end, I was glad that I ordered a side, or else I would have left the place still hungry and a little upset. The Kamikaze Fries were not what I expected. The menu said waffle fries with Korean BBQ beef, kimchi, red sauce, Japanese mayo, and green onions. From the name, and the kimchi, I was expecting the fries to be on the spicy side. They were not. In fact, they were a little sweet. Still tasty, just surprising. The miso-coconut braised pork was very good too. There was not an overwhelming coconut flavor. It was just right. The only drawback on the KoJa's was that the lightly fried garlic rice "buns" started falling apart before we finished eating them. The short rib bowl did not have a very authentic Korean BBQ flavor. The meat seemed to be over-tenderized or something, that just made it seem off. So that was a little disappointing, even though it seemed to be of a decent size for the $10 price. I want to go back to try the Umami Fries. It will be a while though because it is kind of pricey for lunch. read more

My favorites here are the short rib bowl and tuna bowl. They don't offer a short rib taco. Wish they offered a tuna taco, too. Boo. So tried the beef taco today since I wasn't too hungry. Yummy and tangy. Not very spicy. The heat was further tempered by a healthy dash of mayo. I've tried their tuna nachos. Good concept but the wonton chips don't hold up well to the sauces and toppings drizzled on top. The first few chips were nice and crisp but by the time I got to the center of the pile, the wontons were soggy. Next time, I'm ordering everything on the side. Still don't visit as often as I like since the parking lot is a mess during the lunch or dinner rush. read more

I usually go here and the food is great! Unfortunately today I found string in my zen bowl. The rice was so hard I almost chipped my tooth. No joke. I am really grossed out. I called KoJa right away to ask if the patty was wrapped with string Before they cook it. But the guy on the phone told me it wasn't. He did offer to remake it for me. I was so hungry I said sure. But As I write this review, I don't want to go back...I don't trust the cleanliness of the restaurant. :( read more

My husband and I LOVE the umami fries and knew we had to have it as a late-night snack at our wedding so we reached out to a local Koja (closest to our wedding venue), which was the Dublin store. Sadly, they shared that they wouldn't be able to help since our delivery time was after hours. Totally get it. But pretty quickly after, they realized how obsessed we were with their fries and they said they would do it! I felt terrible (our delivery time was probably around 9 pm) but also super happy that they made an exception! Excellent customer service. Martin was super easy to work with; he gave me all the options for the packaging (he wanted it to look nice vs the standard packaging for normal catering events) and told me to keep the sauce in a separate container so the fries wouldn't get soggy. He also ensured I had a vegetarian option for my guests. After we finalized the details, I handed it off to my wedding planner and from my POV, everything went smoothly. Our guests were surprised with the late-night snack and everyone enjoyed it, including us! Fascinating cuisine! I heard about the rice bun from some friends and I really wanted to try it! It was worth the price and was delicious, but halfway through it became really messy and fell apart. I'm not a big fan of getting my hands covered with sauce so I'd like to see it wrapped differently. I will definitely come back to try it again. read more

First time to KoJa Kitchen. We got the Garlic Wings, Chicken KoJa with Kamikaze Fries and the Short Rib Bowl. Overall it was pretty good. The garlic wings take ten minutes to cook and I feel like the other dishes were prepared and ready before the wings got done which caused the food to be not has hot as we would've liked. read more

I've seen Kojas all around the Bay Area but never tried it until now. It was good. I'd get the short rib bowl and probably try a musubi if i go back. There was nothing wrong with the food i just can't get into the whole poke bowl hype, it just doesn't do it for me. The pictures always make me want it but when i get it i really just don't like it. I got the original Koja and a beef bowl. The short ribs in the koja were really good but my order sat for a while before i got it so the rice patties were kinda soggy so i just ended up putting the meat into the beef bowl. Honestly the beef bowl had a pretty small amount of meat for $18 (i added avocado, crab salad, edamame and an egg to my bowl). I think this is a really cool asian fusion restaurant, i can definitely understand the hype. read more
