Another good trip to get kolaches. The parking was a madhouse on a Friday for lunch. This is usual so come with patience for parking. I ordered the spinach again because I loved it the first time. My new one was the cinnamon roll. I asked for it heated, but it was a bit too long. Obviously the icing melted, but the bread also got very soft so it made it messy to eat. It has a lot of icing! First time here and having a kolache. This location is in a small plaza (same plaza as THH - actually a couple doors down). I arrived about 30 mins before closing (they close at 2pm I believe) and the selection was ok. A lot of the sweet ones were gone by then. The employee there was very nice and informative with all the customers, took her time to answer questions. I decided to get a dozen - Chorizo Chicken Enchilada Sausage and Egg Pepperoni Pizza Cheesesteak Steak & eggs (free one) She recommended downloading the Kolache Factory app so I can earn points and even get a free one. I downloaded the app while she assisted the next customer. After I got it all set up, a new employee came back from break to complete my transaction. With that being said, whenever I visit SoCal from the Bay Area, I usually bring back a dozen or so. Funny thing is, they never make it to work........ Kolaches are a dessert from Czechoslovakia. They were normally filled with fruit. However, with influence from Texas, you can now find them filled with things like eggs and meat and sometimes even hot links. At Kolache Factory, they even have a pepperoni pizza variant, which happens to be a favorite of mine, along with the hot link version. They also have a Texas Hot Link version filled with cheese and jalapenos, which is absolutely delicious. The selection is pretty extensive. If you're anything like me, you'll have to go there a few times and try almost the whole menu, before you can find your favorite. But, that's not exactly, a tough job, though. If you get some of the savory options, especially the ones with egg, make sure to grab some picante sauce behind you. Also, they do have coffee there, but I would skip that. read more

We asked her how it is & she said it's really good so we checked out this place. We got 1 Ranchero & 1 Philly Cheese Steak. The lady at the counter warmed them up for us. These are soooo good! Got to try a few of these Kolache for breakfast. Kolache, meaning cake or pie, are a Czech pastry, thats a sweet bun filled with different types of filling. I got to try a few of the breakfast ones. They were all stuffed full with filling and the bread was sweet and thin so that it wasn't mostly bread. Bacon Egg and Cheese was delicious. The taste was rather mild but had a good balance so that you could taste all the ingredients including the sweet bread. I think there were onions in there too. A little hot sauce "from home" made it even better. Chorizo was a stronger flavor than the bacon egg and cheese and the egg was cooked a little more. I think i liked the Bacon Egg and Cheese a little more because the filling was more moist. The cream cheese was also good, it was the sweet cream cheese on top like a danish but with the same sweet pastry. I liked them too, they seemed more familiar to me because they looked like a danish, the egg Kolache were filled like Chinese bao so the seemed a bit more exotic to me. If you don't know what a Kolache is, you don't know what you are missing. They are basically stuffed dinner rolls that are great for breakfast, lunch or as a snack. These aren't my grandmother's Kolaches which were similar to Danishes with fruit and custard fillings, these have all sorts of filling including ham, sausage, egg, Italian Chicken, Pizza and much more. Personally, I prefer the breakfast Kolaches with eggs. They don't skimp on the filling so one of these can keep you satiated well into the day. For starters, how is stuffing 6 kolaches in 1 SMALL BAG with unreadable writing on the outside acceptable? Especially when you order 6 different flavors that all are the same size? How do you expect the kolaches to not move around in the bag and not follow what's written on the outside? We had to tear them apart to determine flavors. Second, the coffee in the dispenser was luke warm. However, nothing the microwave couldn't fix. I've never had a kolache, but this place was amazing! I found a buy 3 get 3 coupon in the mail. If I had to describe a kolache, I'd say it's a burrito, but, instead of tortillas, it's a thicker pita-like bread, and baked into a bun shape. I ordered take out, which isn't conducive for great photos. I'll talk about the potato/egg/cheese, sausage/egg/cheese, sausage/cheese, BBQ brisket, and apple. One thing about all the kolaches is: The bread has a bit of sweetness by itself. This made the flavor much richer on the savory ones, like the breakfast ones. When the kolache bread is baked with the fillings, the bread softens and absorbs all that delicious flavor. Also, these things were all packed full without air pockets. This also means that texture variety isn't a selling point. Everything is soft, so there's no "snap" or "crispiness" in the menu. The breakfast ones were my favorite (sausage/egg/cheese and potato/egg/cheese). The potato one was basically a small breakfast burrito, but the bread balances it out. The tomato gave a nice little acidic zing which brightened this thing up. If you like breakfast burritos, try this. The sausage/egg/cheese had a flavor similar to a sausage/egg/cheese McGriddle. The sausage tasted similar to McD and I love my McGriddles, but I'd say this combination is much better (and less greasy) in kolache form. The sausage/cheese one is okay. This one was half the size of the sausage/egg/cheese. I honestly wasn't too impressed with this one. The sausage tastes like a typical smoked sausage without a great snap (this sausage link was different from the sausage/egg/cheese). Lastly, the bread:sausage ratio was too high. It felt like a half-sized hot dog in a full-sized bun BBQ Brisket was awesome. This might sound silly, but I love sloppy joe sandwiches and this kolache had sweet bbq sauce with delicious shredded brisket and the soft bread absorbed all the sauce. It was beautiful. It was perfect. FYI, this was a bit smaller than potato/egg/cheese. The apple kolache was a miss for me. I think this is a case where the soft bread hurt the dish. First, the preparation of the apples was delicious and the apple filling was excellent. The apples had a satisfying crisp bite and each slice was packed with flavor. I'd say it's the perfect apple pie filling. However, typical apple pies have thin and crunchy crusts. The bread is soft and thick. For me, it's like eating pie filling on white bread or a concha, so it doesn't fit my tastes. In general, danishes can get away with it since their filling is overly sweet. This is not, so the balance is off. I really enjoyed my first kolaches. If you've never had one before, it's amazing. If you like Chinese bbq pork buns, you'll probably love these.
