Been here twice now and a had a chance to experience the menu on/off happy hour. This bar is part of the PCH family, so you can expect a strong emphasis on well crafted cocktails, fun/lively decor, and an asian theme running throughout. The inside is darkly lit but well decorated, lots of cool little nods toward anime, the TV's were playing One Piece the second time I was in there so it's pretty laid back. At this point I've had half the things on the menu, I'd say the standouts for me thus far were the Banana Stand, and the Boracay Old Fashioned. The Milk Punch they offer during happy hour is also pretty delicious, you don't see a ton of those offered at bars but it's a clarified alcoholic punch that is fairly tedious to make and very delicious. Theirs is on the sweeter side, but for 10$ a glass I'd definitely have a couple. Also props for having Suntory Premium Malts on tap for a fair price at $9/glass. I love that they offer cheap bits too like a ramen cup for $3, chicharrons, etc. It's a nice touch and I'd definitely see myself hanging out for a bit before I hit the downtown, grab a snack. A few more items on that food menu I think would benefit them more, perhaps something easy and fried ala Japanese train stations. It would be unique, and on theme. Bartenders are all really nice guys, knowledgeable and definitely want to see the place get more popular because it's been a bit on the slow end. My only critique would be I think the prices are about $1-2 too much. I definitely appreciate the head bartender's attention to flavor profiles in these offerings, but I have a really hard time justifying a $16/avg cocktail in a location like this with some of these ingredients. Bombay sapphire, knob creek bourbon, these are not top shelf liquors appropriate for this price point. Take it down a notch, or elevate these cocktails more. If they'd knock it down to $14-15 at most, they'd see me hanging out twice as long, bringing twice as many people. I can see people coming here once-twice, but not being regulars due to this issue. Also the happy hour could be a bit stronger, with more offerings. Trust me guys, if you want it to pick up, here me out! read more

A friend and I decided to go to the city for drinks and decided to just walk into any bar that had good vibes. I would be lying if I didn't say the "anime & drinks" sign didn't entice me to go in. The inside was SO CUTE and I just came back from a trip to Japan this summer, so the vibes were simply amazing going in. We came during Happy Hour, so there was only people sitting at the bar but I'd love to come back when it's more busy. It seems pretty Asian influenced and the staff there are really nice! I love their menu selection and we got an aperol spritz and an apple highball--both were super good...I doubt you could go to wrong with any of the drinks here. Finally made it to Kona's Street Market after having it on my list for months, and I'm so glad I did! My bf and I had the Rock the Kasbah and the Milk Was a Bad Choice. Both were delicious and very unique-tasting drinks, with great presentation. I'd definitely come back for the drinks alone, and the bar setting is even more reason to come back. The indoor space is very big and spacious, not crowded unlike other good cocktail bars in sf. They have a bunch of tables that would be great for groups of 4-8 people, and the music is at a reasonable level so you can actually hear your conversation. There was no line and ample seating space on a Friday night around 9-10pm.Great place to go with a group of friends, or on a date! read more

Kona's Street Market is a little tucked away from Market Street next to a tech company-esque new building, with a tiny sign, super easy to miss. It's also across from the Future Bars-dominated block, which is unfortunate, because Kona's deserves so much more love than that corner. This is one of those reviews I've hesitated to write, because I'm low-key worried that if it gets too busy I won't get to sit in my favorite spot at the bar. Let's get the most important things out of the way because I trend to be long-winded in these reviews. 1) Kona's has the most consistently tasty cocktail program in post-lockdown San Francisco, prove me wrong. and 2) There is no food outside of some snacky type things, but they DO let you bring food in. Pro tip #1: Kona's is rather conveniently located around the corner from Super Duper - order online and pick up on the way to the bar. The combination of amazing cocktail + B.E.C. burger is *chef's kiss*. Pro tip #2: If you find a drink you love remember the name so you can order it again next time. The cocktail menu changes often enough that you'll never be bored by what's on offer, but they'll always make you your old favorites if you ask. Also look at the billboard above the bar - sometimes there are drink specials not on the print menu. Pro Tip #3: There's a Happy Hour! Low ABV and thoughtful non-alcoholic cocktails are on offer, too. The drink menu itself is thoughtfully organized, and there are Asian ingredients and interesting combinations sprinkled throughout. I haven't had a bad cocktail yet, and all of these combinations work in a cohesive, delicious manner. The ambiance is very much "Asian street market" with low lighting, string, and neon lights. Really, the only thing missing is an old grandpa in the corner ad-hoc grilling stuff on skewers. They go ALL OUT with holidays. Halloween was a phantasmagorical spooky dream with blow-up lawn decorations, lights, and Halloween movies - the best! The drinks were appropriately garnished with plastic eyeballs and candy pumpkins and the like. And they're going even bigger for December. But non-holiday Kona's is awesome enough that I really won't mind January and beyond, either :) read more

This review is long overdue. I work in the area and decided that I would sample every drink on Kona's menu. Over the course of about 6 months, give or take, I would stop in regularly and have 1 cocktail after work. I was able to sample the entire list before the most recent menu update. I must say the cocktails here are top-notch. Brian and his team including, but not limited to Sam, Nathan, and Joseph are all stellar. They take pride in their work and can make some fantastic drinks. The vibe is always chill with hip folks chatting away while sipping drinks as some anime or cult film plays silently in the background. Some nights (generally weekends) there is a DJ spinning some tunes. The service is top notch and so are the artful libations. The food selection is very light as the place is definitely focused on sophisticated drinks. They do things right during the holidays too. The bar gets decked out top to bottom which adds to the fun. I'm not into Christmas themes too much, but you can bet I'll roll through a few times during spooky season. read more

Me and a group of friends came in December when they had the Christmas decorations up. For service the bartender lady was kind of unfriendly and seemed like she didn't want to be there but when we sat down at a table, our server was very nice and friendly. Their cups are unique and you can even purchase them, the cocktails were just okay I think the best one was the espresso cocktail but they were pretty pricey. Would I go back here? Probably not, I think the design of the cups looked better than the cocktail tasted. read more

We stopped by Kona Street Market to check out their holiday set-up a few weeks ago. We got lucky and snagged a table and were quickly greeted by a server. We tried the Sippin' Santa, White Russian Christmas, and Azul Navidad. All the holiday drinks were tasty and strong - I was feeling it halfway through the first drink! What really made our experience was our server - he was really friendly, gave us a rundown on the drinks and some of his favorites, and he talked to us about the space and how Kona's came to be. He even made it a point to invite us back after the holiday season and highly recommended checking out their usual cocktail menu. Give that man a raise (hint to the owner: he used his personal cologne to cover up a smell at a nearby table)!! We will definitely be back again! read more

We had fun here last night. Christmas themed. Had the usual Christmas themed cocktails which were good. Had to ask for a beer as it's not on the menu. Young kinda "tech" looking people. Overall had a nice time as we were feeling festive ourselves. Couple of these around San Francisco this time of year. Worth trying. read more

In the bay for a work trip and have always wanted to try out these cocktail bars we heard so much about. We came here on Saturday for the Holiday Bar tour my friends set up and this place was amazing! Super decked out and the viral dancing aloha Santa was just hilarious! Went to the sister bar PCH beforehand and that was incredible too, however, the service was 10 times better at Kona which we did not expect since I think PCH has been around longer. The server Kat was just so personable, fun, and made the whole experience; Didn't get the other guy's name, but he seemed friendly too. It wasn't incredibly busy as we thought it would be for a Saturday during Sipping Santa, but it was relatively full still; Our service never skipped a beat! We never ran out of water or a drink in our hand, and whenever a coaster fell to the floor, the server would notice and pick it up for us. The drinks were a little on the sweeter side, but what do you expect from a tiki holiday pop up bar? You're able to order classic cocktails too which is nice since we drank everything on the menu ;D Great drinks, service, and helping a cause. What's more holiday SPIRITed than that? I LOVE the vibe of this place. It's great for a group, even larger ones (we were a group of 8) and comfortable. The employees were super nice even when asking me to wear my mask to be seated (oops). You have to show vax info, of course. The extensive drink menu, however, was above my paygrade. Literally each cocktail was $16 each and had several ingredients I didn't recognize. I'm a vodka girl and they only had one or two vodka cocktails on the menu. I only managed to try the "You're My Boy Blue" before my group was demanding to leave and go to karaoke. It was heavy in flavor [and texture] and seemed to have a salt topper that was unpleasant to me, but it was decent overall. My friends who had the "Pink Flamingo" said it was incredibly bitter. I tasted it and I definitely made the "just sucked on a lemon" face. I do appreciate that they have "zero-proof cocktails" for anyone who wants to have a sober good time and still get a fancy beverage. I would definitely go again but will attempt to order off-menu, if that's allowed. read more

Wow! This review is on my first visit here. We came here on a Saturday night around 8pm and it was dead, which we were surprised by since we knew it was associated with the former Pacific Cocktail Haven, which is ALWAYS busy. By the time we left, which I want to guess was at 10, the bar had really filled up. Firstly, very sweet and efficient service. We got our drinks quickly as well, even when it was busy. I didn't get the impression that they were very short staffed. It's important to me personally that employees aren't having to do double the work during this labor crisis. Maybe I'm wrong and the staff was super human though, ha! The ambiance was really cool and fun. We came with a small group, but I think the environment would suit both date nights and larger groups if it's ever allowed again. They also played GREAT music. The drinks themselves were great. Everything was really creative, and there was a good mix of sweet, sour, and bitter drinks. I got the Nippon Cooler. It was so refreshing! I also got the Boracay Old Fashioned, which was perfectly bitter with a nice coconut sweetness. Between the 4 of us, we got about a 3rd of the menu and I don't remember any complaints. I was a little apprehensive coming here because there never feels like a reason to be in the area after like, 7pm. But I will definitely be back! read more

A really cute Christmas themed bar (in the month of December)! We came on a Saturday right when it opened at 5pm so we didn't have to wait in the line. There is a cover fee of $10 that you have to pay in cash. We loved the decorations, the music, and the fun drinks in Christmas mugs and glasses! A little disappointed that they did not have the Rudolph shot glasses when we visited, as they said they were delayed by the carrier (so we didn't order shots). Between my boyfriend and myself, we were able to try about half of the menu and we were so impressed with each cocktail. Great ambiance and location. This bar requires proof of vaccination, so have that ready before making a trip. All cocktails here at $15, so it's pretty reasonably prices for the Fidi area. All the drinks here are recipes of the owners, so you won't find them anywhere else. My favorite concoction here is the "Milk was a bad idea". It's liquid gold. Seriously, if there's one drink you have to try, this would be it. This place is run by the same folks who owned PCH (the one that sadly burned down earlier this year) - it's a new vibe, but the drinks are just as awesome. read more

Kind of a weird experience here. I get the cocktails are specialty cocktails and that's the main focus of this bar but when you order food it's very bizarre that the staff would deliver a bag of chicharrones to you. At least put the food in a bowl...lol It's also super dark but maybe it's a better vibe at night, not sure.
