My boyfriend and I came here while in the area one day and saw that they offered some good looking soups while skimming through Yelp. I really appreciate that the staff moved quickly with our orders and were really friendly. We ordered the beef soft tofu soup and kalbi short rib. The soup was savory and contained a good, mild level of spice. The short rib was tender and super flavorful too! Service was good until the waitress said because we only ordered 1 lunch that she gave us two rice and asked if we wanted to pay for the extra rice. I love this place. Portions are great and the service is excellent. My boyfriend came with me for his visit about a week ago and was happily surprised that the small restaurant put out such good food - he lived in Korea when he was in the military. I ordered seafood stew, which was served boiling hot with an egg cooked on top, and he had spicy pork, plus an appetizer between us, and a large number of banchan dishes. Korea House is more like a 2.5 star restaurant and the food is ok. You can get seated pretty quickly when you walk in but there are always people present. They serve you banchan, but nothing tastes super fresh and you can tell everything was prepared well ahead of time. The dol sot bi bim bap is good and I would recommend ordering this. The bulgogi was different than what I expected. It was more like beef teriyaki with the thick sweet sauce they top it with. The seafood pancake was ok. It was small, not very crispy, and had few pieces of seafood in it. When I am in Concord, this is not my first choice restaurant to go to. I came across this place from an Instagram review and thought I would go try it since my bf and I were craving Korean food. It's located in a popular area which has a parking lot right in front. When I walked in, it felt so homey and comforting! I was excited for the food! We ordered man-doo (I think that's how they spelled it) bulgogi, spicy pork, stone bowl bimbibop, and spicy rice cakes (medium spice). Their appetizer was japchae - which tasted AMAZING! We also asked for a side of soy bean paste and as soon as it got to the table you could tell it was homemade! It was so delicious with all of the foods. Stopped into Korea House on a Friday night around 8 pm, after reading reviews that seemed to evoke an almost cult-like following of this place. I've since learned that the ownership has swapped hands on a couple occasions, so what you loved 5 years ago might not be the same food they're still serving. Of the large handful of experiences that I've had with Korean food, each one has been completely different. We decided to order one dish that kept it pretty safe (Bulgogi, $20, comes with banchan) and one that stepped out on a limb (Seafood Tofu Soup, $13). The first thing we noticed was the generous array of banchan that came out immediately after we ordered: Noodles, rice, pickled potato, green salad, kim chi, spicy soy strip things, broccoli, nori, bean sprouts, and teeny little spicy fish guppies. I have a incredibly unrefined palate for funky fishy fermented things, so what I find gross, others will inevitably find delicious. I couldn't really hang with a bowlful of tiny smelly fish. Maybe one day I'll get there (I actually did eat a handful of them!). The Bulgogi itself was pretty good, but didn't have that delightful grilled char I've experience elsewhere. The Seafood Tofu Soup put on a good show (having a fresh egg cracked into it table-side was pretty neat), but I had to reckon with a lot of individual elements I wasn't prepared for. It was kind of like base of the soup was fish broth that came with all the stuff they had been boiling for the stock: Super-tough tiny shrimp, chopped bits of squid/octopus, little fish bones, over-boiled clams, and a big stinky mussel. The broth itself was delicious, as was the silky tofu and egg. If I made it myself I just would have strained out the bycatch. Service was friendly and helpful, and the place was clean and comfortable. We were one of 2 white parties in the place, which I took as a good sign. I'd definitely come back for other Tofu Soups, and to try out the Bibimbap, which looked great on other tables. This is a solid place to challenge your expectations and kindle a new appreciation for Korean food. I'd definitely come back to give it another shot. :-) read more

This is probably my favorite korean restaurant in the area. It's also the most consistent in food and service. The service(4/5) is even it gets busy will get the food out. If you watch the older ladies in action, it's pretty impressive how they can clean and provide service ( I feel if you put a fitbit on them they would be 20k everyday). The food is always good (5/5) Love the ban chan (side dishes) -- bout 8 for dinner , I think maybe 5-6 for lunch.. but they don't automatically refill, so you need to flag them and ask. I normally order the bibimbop (dol sot is the hot version) - lots of veggies beautiful presentation with some beef and an egg on top. My boyfriend has been wanting to take me here for a while because of how affordable the food is and how generous their portions are. This is a really solid Korean restaurant that's worth it if you're going to eat there for a weekday lunch, which is around $13. I got the Kimchi Soon Tofu, which had a nice sourness to it. I have been coming to Korea House for many years now and I have never left disappointed. I can say their Bul Go Gi is one of the best I've had. Their Galbi short ribs are also very flavorful and tender. Jap Chae Noodles are very delicious as well. When dining in, meat dishes are served on a hot plate whereas take out it is served in a plastic container with saran wrap like cover. Just like every restaurant, their food is best served fresh in house but take out is still yummy! With every order you get ban chan (sides) like kimchee and japchae noodles. I did notice when you dine in you get a bigger starter of japchae and seaweed (not included in to-go). Overall, to get the most bang for your buck go during lunch to get their lunch special. Came in with my grandmother who is a regular here and showed me for my first time. Service sat us immediately provided us with menus and waters straight off the back. Always nice when you don't have to ask for waters! Smell and aroma was amazing, really set the tone for good food and atmosphere. I got the bul go gi lunch special which came with plenty of food! Tempura, rice, salad, noodles and more were all provided with! My grandmother got some sort of fish I cannot recall. She was enjoying it so much we barely spoke while we ate! This is my favorite local Korean restaurant at the Park n Shop. The portions are generous and they will refill your banchan (small side dishes such as kimchi) if you ask. I never stray from Kal Bi (bbq short ribs). So tender and flavorful! Some are fatty but they give you plenty of pieces. Their lunch specials are fantastic! You get soup, item of your choice, salad, rice, Jap chae (glass noodles), potato, and a few tempura veggies. I usually ask for a to go container to take the rest of my meal home because they give you so much! My cousin ordered the Pa Jun (seafood pancake) and the Dak Go Gi (bbq chicken) to share with her kiddos. I never had the pancake before. Next time I'll have to order it as an appetizer. Yum. Service is fast too. Waters come out to your table almost instantly. And they do check up on you to make sure you're doing okay or need something. I like doing family style in this restaurant, so you can get a little of everything. The food is savory and not salty. I will say if you really want a bang for your buck, come during lunch time because they give you a "bento box" with your dish. I am indifferent when it comes to Korean food, especially Korean food in Concord. I have yet to find a place that has wowed me, but I can say that Korea House is one of the few places on top of my list for the area. I have been to Korea House multiple of times over the past 3-4 years, and I am happy to say that with each visit the restaurant has been improving in most catogories. In my recent visit, my friend and I went to Korea House on a Sunday afternoon. We thankfully beat the lunch rush and was able to get seated immediately. We ordered a ton of food, thanks to my friend who was craving Korean like no other! We got the Mushroom Soft Tofu, Kalbi, and Duk Gook. We also got a complimentary dish of Japchae and a good amount of banchan, which has been consistently good over the years. The food at Korea House is good for the most part (I recommend giving the Soft Tofu Soup and or the Dolsot Bap a try), but it is also pricier compared to other places. Overall, food and service is good, but it can also be a hit or miss. There have been times where service was EHHH, other times like during my recent visit it was attentive and great. Location is convenient. Huge parking lot as Korea House is located in a large strip mall on Willow Pass, but with Ranch 99 in the area, it can get a little crowded. PS: No lunch specials during the weekend, but try to take advantage of it on the weekdays to save yourself a few bucks! read more

Hadn't been eating here in years. I started going again a few times recently. I noticed they are back to giving a decent amount of banchan after cutting back severely to 4 items per table years ago. I found the prices are now quite extravagant for lunch. Although the quality wasn't bad, it just wasn't worth the incredibly high bill. Kalbi had a bit too much grizzle, and the Dak Gui sauce is not to my preference. Shrimp Tempura are very good, as is the Bi Bim Naengmyeon cold spicy noodles. The Haemul-pajeon wasn't bad but I did notice something in there that I'm not used to...and perhaps not enough seafood. All in all I'd love it a lot more if the prices came back inline with most people's budget. read more

Great price and great flavors! Came on a Friday during lunch. They have a great lunch special! My friend and I shared the kalbi plate and a hot stone bibimbap. The lunch specials come with banchan. I love their selection of banchan and you can get refills on them except for the japchae. You also get a bowl of soup. Kalbi plate came with a bento box of side dishes, rice, and salad. The kalbi came in a large stack of meat! For $14 it's so worth it! The meat was well flavored and sizzling. The only con was that a couple of pieces were super fatty, like they were more fat than meat. Most pieces were meaty though! I highly recommend getting it, even though it is one of the pricer item on the lunch menu. Super filling and sharable! Hot stone bibimbap was kinda smaller than I thought it'll be, probably because it's on the lunch special so maybe it's not like a regular full size bowl? I'm actually not sure how big their bibimbap would be if I were to order not as a lunch special. I've been to other Korean places with much larger bowls. This bowl looked like the size of bowls that comes with tofu soup. Bibimbap was pretty good though! The rice was nice and crispy on the bottom (we kinda left it to sizzle a little to long so some parts were little too crispy ). I probably wouldn't order this again though. Since the bowl was kinda small, it was pretty hard to mix up the rice and it wasn't super flavorful. I had to add their hot sauce for more flavor, but comparing this to the kalbi, the bibimbap was lacking in flavor. Two dishes after tip and tax came out to be around $34. Pretty good in my opinion for Korean food and being super stuffed! We could have probably taken some of it home, but we rather just finish all of it. This place caught my eye through Yelp, my friend was craving Korean food and this was the first place that popped up with many stars. Korea House is a hole in a wall so I wasn't expecting anything fancy. For some reason when we sat down, I felt dirty. LOL The restaurant looked like a fast food joint. In comparison to other Korean restaurants I think my expectations of service and experience was too high because I found Korea House to be dull. For service I felt like we were rushed, as our food came out 6-7mins later. WOW and they shoved all of the sides out on the table without saying excuse me or a word.
