They used to come by at least 5 times to see how everything was and made sure you were happy leaving. the new owner is a total 180 from this, given the food is still decent, the quality has gone down quite a bit. So much for my morning run.. After exploring my new neighborhood, bf and I were famished. What to eat? Korean? Think they have soju and hite? Let's find out! The restaurant was pretty empty Sunday afternoon so we were seated quickly. Menu's came out and it was go time. I ordered the duk mandu soup (rice cake soup with dumplings) and bf got a classic soon dubu (soft tofu soup). They have a pretty extensive menu with a nice variety of dishes. Note to self: bottle of soju is $10.95 and beer, depending on size, ranges from $4-$7. So...much...food... The dumpling soup came out in a ginormous bowl nice and steamy. Honestly, you can't go wrong with this soup. The soft tofu soup gurgled and bubbled but calmed itself once we cracked the raw egg in. Two bowls of rice accompanied this entree and the usual ban chan (sweet yams, kimchi, pajun, anchovies, seaweed, tempura, musaengchae, and japchae) The tofu soup wasn't amazing but it was very filling. Now most people suggest that it's best to come here during lunch. It is true that they offer a lot of food... And there is a significant price difference, but trust me - dinner is the better option. The difference, other than the obvious price, is that 1. The portion sizes are much bigger. 2. They offer more expensive ban chan. 3. The QUALITY of the meat is also better. I haven't been to the Park & Shop area in a long while. I used to be around it a lot a few years ago. So hanging out with a friend today, I felt like today could be a good time to revisit this place where I knew had many restaurant. What I love about Park & Shop is how many different restaurants there are and how different they are from each other. They got two fast food chains to a boba place to a hole in the wall diners. We were feeling for Asian so we decided to stop at the Korea House. From prior experience with other Korean restaurants, we knew they would have bento boxes and/or good lunch specials. Right on the dot. We were in at 11am. Only one guest was there before us. When a waitress saw the two of us, she reconfirmed that we had only two and so she sat us at a table. They gave us our menus and right on top to view first was the lunch special. It's like they knew! Okay, price ranges from $10-18 dollars. Of course, they had their own beef spareribs too. I went for that, and my friend went for another item that I can't quite remember. We didn't have to ask for any beverages because the served us water. Note: the water wasn't cold. It was house temperature. Not exactly refreshing. I love restaurants where we don't have to wait too long. Probably five minutes into our conversation, my friend and I received our food. First game the kimichi, the noodles, the seaweed, the soup too. I next got my bento box filled with bread coated veggies, noodles, a salad, potatoes, sour kraut, and rice. A few moments later we go our main course. My sizzlin' spare ribs were there! Service: the servers never offered us smiles, never asked how the food tasted, the only time they were noticed and attentive was when they took our order, refilled our water, and took our payment. Food: The rice was just right. It was fluffy but watery. The noodles had a lot of flavor. The sour kraut went away the fastest. Something about it was so good that I had to keep eating. The salad was too sweet. The breaded veggies and potatoes were okay. Now as for the beef, it was a bit chewy. I even counted one piece to take about twenty-ish chews chest to get it small enough. It wasn't a date or anything, but he owed me dinner. When it was time to pay the bill, the waitress gave ME the check. I took it but my friend grabbed it and put his card on it. Then when the waitress got the check and returned the card, she gave it to ME again! Wtheck?! I know we're not on a date or anything but c'mon, you're Asian, you should know proper etiquette rules! We came back often since my first time for lunch and the staff is always nice and attentive. They continue to give a generous amount of banchan (9 vegetable side dishes) and jap chae or Daikon radish soup (depends if you order their stews or their jap chae dish). We have tried many of their dishes. The only two I feel still needs work is the beef bulgogi which is a little dry and needs more sauce, as well as, more color and crispier beef. First time at this Korea House, I must say that this place is pretty legit!!! As usual, Korean restaurant often started you off with variety of side dishes. I liked that this place offer fresh vegetables, seaweed, and some kind of glass noddles dish as a starter (so delish!!!). We ordered Mushroom Tofu soup, which was very tasty. I would recommend this dish or other tofu soups available. Dae Ji Bulgogi (marinated Korean BBQ pork in spicy sauce) was another dish we got, it wasn't as bad. Putting asides the fact that it's slightly oily, the marinated meat is tender and flavorful. Overall, food here is good. I would definitely make another visit. read more

first time ordering from here, and i gotta say i'm impressed. i didn't think their to go boxes would actually be wrapped like how they would in korea. i was thinking just the regular to go boxes. not to mention, this is the first restaurant that packages their sides. the reason for this place not getting a 5 star is the portion of the food for the price, especially the meat. we thought we had a lot of meat for $40, but it was just mostly cabbage on the bottom with a layer of meat on top thinking it was filled with meat. other than that, i would definitely eat here again especially when i'm craving tteokbokki read more

Mm mm! Rich and tasty flavors ! Seafood dol sot bi bim bop - like a standard with the sauce a little sweeter than your average sauce for the bi bim bop. The stone bowl was very clean and new so the rice had a nice even crisp. The best part was that the squid was perfectly bouncy and not overcooked at all Tofu soup - soup was thicker and had a richer flavour, as if they added miso paste and a bone broth, it was very yummy Kimchi pancake - omg so good as if it was cooked on a pan lined with butter ! You know, as far as Korean food goes - there isn't much in the Concord area. We frequent this one bc the location is close and my kids love their banchan selection and spicy pork bulgogi. The portions seem pricey but considering they feed 2-3 people I'd say it's pretty reasonable (if yall end up sharing a dish like we did). We are seated quickly and they are friendly enough. It's a great hole-in-the-wall establishment, has been here for years but I believe they've switched owners a few times. I wouldn't recommend their tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) as we've ordered it 3 times and every time the rice cakes are too soft. Other than that, my husband loves their dolsut bibimbap and gets it every time. They have canned sodas for the kids, it's one of their favorite places the few times they come out to dine with us. I think this place has potential but I was expecting their food to be on par to Korea House in Richmond, or like the ones in Oakland Telegraph Ave area. The people here are nice and you do get a big portion but their tofu soup lacks an identity and no real taste. The Kimchee appeared it wasn't cured enough and their tofu skin was slimy. A good Korean fix. They gave a lot of sides and they were all so good ! the sides were better than the 2 dishes we ordered. They had the japchae (really good!!!), fish cake, squid, kimchi, the potato thing, etc Hot tofu soup was good but not amazing . It was more bland compared to other places. If you like spice, make sure you ask for spicy because "regular" was not spicy at all- not even a hint of it. Cold noodles was good too. Great flavor and the spice was on point ! Not too spicy that it was unbearable to eat and not "regular". However this was my least favorite dish. The noodles were too chewy and it just made this dish tiring to eat. Service : meh Lady was mean looking and didn't look happy. When we asked her for extra sides or in general anything , she looked unhappy to serve us. Overall good food but not the best Korean place I've been to. Would I go back? Yes . I came in on a Tuesday during their lunch special, which is until 3pm on weekdays. It was fairly busy. We got the bolgogi, which was $10.95. the portions are pretty good, enough for me and my boyfriend to share. The lunch special came with sides, 3 pieces of vegetable tempura, salad, seaweed, and miso soup. We did order an extra bowl of rice though. I came here before and tried the seafood pancake. Although it was a tad bit oily, it was super flavorful and by far the best that I have tried. Like I said, it was pretty busy and after we got our food, the server only came back once to refill our water and I had to approach them for our bill. One word review: Overrated When I walked in, I find that the place is fairly full. But I don't see any parties that are Korean. From that you can already tell what the local Korean people think of the Korean food here. There's quite a variety of side dishes that is served before the main dish. But every side dish either tastes old or not what it's suppose to taste like. Flavors are bland and inconsistent. I ordered Yuk Gae Jang, it's a spicy beef broth soup. It comes in a large bowl filled with lots of broth that covers up the lack of vegetables and beef shreds. Broth is salty and surprisingly tasteful. But it's the type of tastiness that comes from unnatural food additive. The restaurant has astonishingly high reviews, but it didn't match my expectations. The girlfriend and I, along with two friends came here on our way to Oakland to grab a quick bite to eat. Haven't been to any Korean restaurants in Concord yet, and this one has some good reviews so we decided to give it a try. It was a good decision. The girlfriend and I got the luncheon special chili pork, tofu soup, and duk bokki. The chili open a marinade and texture were just right, not to spicy, and also very flavorful. Tofu soup, for it being kimchi based was really pungent and tasty which is what you look for in a kimchi stew. The Duk Bokki, which I ordered spicy, was a mild spice, but the fish cakes and rice cake were cooked well to where it wasn't to mushy, and was just the right amount of texture. Our friend's got the mushroom tofu stew, fried dumplings, and the stone pot bibbimbap. The mushroom stew was really Savory as well, but wasn't pungent like the kimchi which is good since it kimchi is what gives the stew it's pungent flavor. The bibbimbap was really savory and had the variety of food in it. The fried dumplings were a little different, instead of the regular pot stickers that you would get, there is had vermicelli in it along with other meat and vegetables that they were all handmade. Definitely unique and was giving a little extra touch. They were fried to perfection. Service here is good. The servers are super busy but they do take the time to remember all of the orders people put in. The location isn't big, so large parties aren't advised. Overall, I would have to say I would definitely come back. The food and the service were exceptionally well for as busy as they were, and the staff was very attentive. Our rice leftovers became dinner for tonight. Service: Weekday around 2pm and the place was pretty busy, but we were seated quickly. Everything was flavorful to me, though I do not eat Korean food very often. The spare ribs didn't really look like spare ribs I've eaten but it was the best dish to me!
