I was searching for Korean food and thought I give this a try. This was next to the Korean market. There is a break time/closed between 3-4PM. As I entered the restaurant the Korean food aroma was in the air, I just had that feeling like you were entering a kitchen of home cooked food. In my opinion I prefer this restaurant than Gen by food quality and service. I definitely enjoyed all the side dishes. The entrees I ordered were pan fried mackerel (which was cooked and seasoned well), sautéed cuttlefish with vegetables (the flavor and spice was blended well and the cuttlefish had a soft chewy texture), also got some soft tofu stew w/ seafood and came with egg which I prefer it to be a little more spicy. My go-to have to be the Galbi beef short ribs that came at our table in a sizzling hot plate. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Everything was delicious and flavorful. This place is a HIDDEN GEM! This restaurant is located in a shop plaza towards the back of the lot. Its located behind the Korean Market. As you enter you are greeted by the servers who are so friendly and helpful. There looked to be outdoor dinning yet, it was too warm in the East Bay to eat outdoors. Indoor seems slightly warm cooled by fans but was still pleasant. As we sat we were brought water almost immediately, which I actually usually look for when coming to a restaurant. I had a few questions since it was our first time here and our server was SO helpful. Asked us questions to better answers what we're looking for. She didn't try to sell is more than we should order and actually looked like she loved giving us suggestions! We went with a few of her suggestions, which were actually part of the lunch menu (11:00-3:00) She said the items were half the order but when they came out I felt like they were generous portions. There was bold full flavors in every bite. The food came out quickly which was great since we had additional errands to run. The servers let us enjoy our meals and came by a few times to make sure we didn't need additional items or refills to our drinks. Overall AMAZING! This place is a must and looks very family friendly. Only thing I would say, if you need a place BLASTING with AC on a warm day, this place doesn't seem to have a BLASTING AC, but they have amazing flavor so that outweighs it. Thank you for having us! I have been a frequent diner at Korean BBQ Plus for years now, but sadly I had a mediocre experience during my most recent visit and do not plan on returning. My sister was craving Korean food, so I suggested we go to Korean BBQ Plus. Luckily it was not busy when we arrived and was able to get seated right away. After looking over the menu, we placed our orders and our food came out in a quick manner. Unfortunately, halfway through the meal I discovered a thick textured hair in my food. Soon after that, I realized there was a fly in one of our banchan dishes, which wasn't a big surprise, because we had constantly been swatting flies from our food and faces the entire meal. I would have gladly overlooked these incidents if the staff had demonstrated better service, but it was the bare minimum. I had to flag down the staff a few times, which I dislike doing because I feel rude, but they did not check up on us. Additionally, I've previously been catcalled by the kitchen staff. This just shows how unprofessional they can be. Overall, I am disappointed we had such an unpleasant dining experience to the extent I am not interested in returning. Although the food was good (before the hair), the combination of all the events just isn't worth it. I highly suggest going elsewhere for your Korean food cravings. read more

Some pretty delicious Korean food. I came here last week with my family for my belated birthday dinner and was not disappointed. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes and I enjoyed everything I tried. I didn't see any cooking tables so all the barbecued/broiled meat was brought to us like a regular sit-down restaurant. My father ordered the spicy beef and I ordered the spicy chicken, (which are supposed to have the same sauce) but his meal was significantly less spicier than mine, which was a wee bit unfortunate for him, since he's also a fan of spicy food. Love this place. They are so friendly & welcoming that I get the home feeling vibes. Its hidden in the cuts of monument & right next to the small mom & pop korean market. On to the food. They have lunch specials that are good & affordable deal. I got the spicy pork & my boyfriend got the beef. It comes with many side dishes. So yummy, fresh & comes with refills. We love this place, especially for lunch. They are so friendly and efficient and the food is incredible. We are always greeted warmly and seated right away. We love the Spicy Chicken, which arrives on a hot stone sizzling and full of flavor. The Yuk Kai Jang Spicy Beef Soup is earthy and aromatic, with just the right balance of flavors. The Tofu Dolsot Bibimbap is perfection, the hot stone bowl gets the rice just perfectly crunchy (be patient and wait before digging in) and the veggies are so colorful and delicious. (This is on the main menu, not a lunch special, but totally worth it!) The amount of Banchan (tiny little side dishes, mostly fermented or pickley things) you get is ridiculous and super tasty. I would die for bulgogi any day. Cute little restaurant that is surrounded by a lot of speed bumps. They also have an Asian grocery store next door where you can buy more Korean food to cook at home. Food - Bomb AF. I usually can't eat kimchi or anything kimchi-flavored because I'm a wimp but I was able to handle the sides they served along with some of the food that my auntie and uncle ordered. The bi bim bap was delishh! It was a little bland (needed some salt? imo), but the sides really complimented the dish so I would take a bite if my bi bim bap then a bite of the sides (like the fish cakes)! There wasn't as much meat as I would have hope they would have served with my meal. It was overloaded with fresh veggies and those were awesome! They serve barely tea which is also my favorite kind of tea! I also tried an octopus piece that my Uncle had, and the octopus was delicious as well! Environment - It got busy quick! The interior is very homey. They have booths and tables/chairs. They also have TV set to sports channel. When we went, there were a lot of people speaking in Korean which was pretty cool to hear! Service - Extremely friendly! They also bring the food out very quickly. I don't really have any complaints about the service. We bring our relatives that frequently visit from Hawaii here and they agree that the food here even beats the top notch Korean restaurants in Hawaii. It came with hot dogs, spam, tofu, kimchi and zucchini. Honestly the ramen noodles were the ones for like a dry packet. Sooo like it's kinda weird like paying for ramen noodles that are from packets lol.. The service was nice and the restaurant in general was pretty clean and nice as well. Pretty satisfied with the food and service was pretty good too. The prices on food kind of vary tho. You'll definitely get good portion , but I suggest sharing with a friend. This used to be my go to spot for Korean food. My family and I loved it so much that we didn't give our business to any other Korean restaurants in the area for 3+ years. Even when I was in college, I would ask my mom to go here every time I came up during breaks. However, their quality and "jungsung," as you would call it in Korean, has become trash. As a Korean family, we have pretty high standards for Korean food and know what most dishes are supposed to taste like. But starting around a year ago, their dishes started to fluctuate in how they tasted. Most of the time, we ordered the gopchang jungeol. One day it would be good and one day it would be super bland/lack depth of flavor, like they didn't boil it for long enough & didn't season it well. The last time we dined-in several months ago (yes this review is long overdue), we ordered the Gamjatang as a change because we were all craving it and we were kind of over their gopchang jungeol being inconsistent at that point. Our food didn't come out for 30 minutes. We were confused because it usually doesn't take that long, so we asked the server and she went to go ask the kitchen. She came back and told us 5 more minutes and then added, "actually, the owner (chef) thought you guys ordered the gopchang jungeol so he's remaking it." I was confused as to why we weren't notified earlier, but I just let it pass. However, I was pretty pissed because of the following things: 1) They brought out the gamjatang and the potatoes were completely RAW. Potatoes take ~20-30 minutes to cook so restaurants usually pre-cook it before bringing it out to the table. I think the chef/owner just wanted to serve our food because we were waiting for so long, but you still gotta serve something that's edible. I'm sorry but I don't eat raw potatoes. 2) Okay this one is just not okay, but the chef/owner just recycled the broth from the gopchang jungeol LIKE WE WEREN'T GOING TO NOTICE. Gamjatang is a completely different dish and does not and should not taste like gopchang jungeol. And we 100% know he did this because we've had their gopchang jungeol like 20 times and know how it tasted. Also, the gamjatang had bean sprouts... gamjatang never has bean sprouts, but you know what does? GOPCHANG JUNGEOL. Who he tryna fool!!! SMH. 3) There was barely any meat. It was mainly all bones. I tried my best to get the little meat that was stuck on the bones but it was too hard so I gave up halfway. Not worth the price they charge for gamjatang if they're going to include such little meat. We gave this place so many chances after we first noticed that their food quality was going down. So many chances, but nothing to keep us as their customer. This experience made us explore other Koreans restaurants in the area and that's when we found places like Yaedam in PH and Jong ga house and seoul gomtang in Oakland. It's super sad for us because we used to love this place, but it looks like we won't be coming back... read more

I was attending a funeral with my sister and we had driven from Sonoma County to Concord. We arrived an hour early and decided to grab a snack. My sister is far more adventurous than I and she spotted a Korean grocery store in a nearby strip mall. In back of the grocery store was a small restaurant - Korean BBQ Plus. The moment we sat down, a complimentary large glass of delicious hot tea was placed in front of us. We ordered fried dumplings and BBQ short ribs. The food was delicious and was the best Korean food I've ever tasted. The ribs were tender and thicker than other restaurants and with a touch of pink inside so not over cooked and over marinated. The array of fresh Kim Chee complimented the ribs perfectly and the portions were very generous. The fresh (not frozen) fried dumpling were made in house and best I've eaten. The food and service were so good I barley remember the ambiance except to say it was clean. I will for an excuse to go back to Concord. 5 stars read more

Wow! This place is by far my favorite Korean lunch spot in Concord. My Korean auntie brought me here to meet her Korean church friends. It's located right next door to the Korean Food Market that she likes to shop at for groceries when she wants to stay local. The owners are very nice and friendly. The food is well seasoned and authentic. I always order the Kalbi (Korean Bar-B-Que Short Ribs). Today, my auntie got the Saeng Sun Jun (Korean Pan Fried Fish). Both lunch specials came with a bowl of rice and a nice selection of Banchan (Korean appetizers/side dishes). Oh! And they also serve Boricha (Korean Barley Tea). My Auntie always tells me that it is better for me than drinking just plain water. I don't know how true that is, but I've become addicted to drinking it now. Everything about lunch today was extremely satisfying! I have always enjoyed my food whenever we've eaten here and spending time with my Auntie is always a pleasure! The restaurant was full of people eating lunch today, but the waiters kept being friendly and attentive. They only had two waitresses doing everything from taking orders, to carrying food and drinks, to busing tables, so expect a wait for seating and ordering. If you get pass that, you are rewarded with some good Korean food; their small dishes were not the best but their main dishes was well done and well crafted. I think the meat plates are good for the first time (we did the ribs and chicken) and share them. They also bring you a bunch of appetizers with free refills. This place is my "go to" for Korean food. The place is quaint, not fancy, not pretentious. It's cozy, and I almost feel like family (it's family owned) and everyone is friendly. IMO, they have the best banchan of the Bay Area CONSISTENTLY. It's always delicious, fresh and perfectly seasoned. Their food portions are generous, and everything is excellent. This is such a hidden gem. The family who owns this place is so nice and they remember most of their customers! They're very prompt and attendant to their guests. The service is fast for a weekday and we got our food pretty fast. I really love their seafood pancake! It's super crisp and full of flavor. I think this be my new favorite spot for a good seafood pancake. The seafood tofu soup was good and they put the egg in there for you. Saw the reviews so we decided to give it a try and try a new Korean place tonight. We ordered our meals to go - spicy Galbi, seafood tofu soup and beef tofu soup. Galbi was ok - onions not even grilled and just thrown on the bottom of the container and beef on top. If the side dishes are good, then usually the food will be good. The side dishes speaks for the food itself and was not good at all. Not sure if u can just grab this at the market next door, but none of it was good. Cucumbers weren't crunchy and appears old. Not very flavorful. I wonder if they just threw in a kimchi mix cause that's what it tastes like. Both the tofu was supposed to be spicy, it wasn't. The soup was bland and my seafood (mussels, clams and squid) were from frozen products. Mussels and clams were supper small but didn't matter, u can tell it's frozen. No egg in it and tofu broken in small pieces, like the remaining of the soup pot. Rice was dry and isn't the normal Korean rice. Pricing is ok, but I rather pay a bit more at Oghane for good food. I pride myself as an excellent investigator. But somehow Korean BBQ Plus! slipped under my radar all these years. I must have driven by this restaurant a couple hundred times. Out of those a couple hundred times, I must have told myself to try it a hundred times? Well, I finally came here for lunch last week. The restaurant was about half full when my friends and I walked in. We were seated quickly but had to wait a while before our order was taken. The lone waitress, who was working hard, was very apologetic when she got around to us, which made up for the wait. We got: an order of kalbi, haemul soondubu (seafood tofu stew), samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup), and haemul pajeon (seafood pancake). First came the delicious banchan array (18 different types). Soon after, our order all came at the same time. My hearty seafood tofu stew with clams, mussels, squid, and small shrimps was very satisfying. The kalbi was a hit. Tasty, not overcooked, but most importantly not too greasy. I didn't try the samgyetang, but my female friend liked the taste of it. From what I saw, the rice-stuffed game hen swam in a broth that had ginseng and red dates. The whole meal came out to about $60 (T/T included). Not bad for all that food. They even brought us those small Yakult probiotic drinks after the meal. Nice way to end the meal. I had a good time here. I will definitely come back for more! I ordered the seafood pancake (good sized portion, very light crisp which could be good/bad depending on how you like it, the accompanying sauce wasn't seasoned enough for me) and soft tofu stew with seafood (very heavy on the cucumber taste).
