Kountry Kitchen has a reputation as being one of the best sit down breakfasts on the island of Kauai. I concur with this assessment. They don't take reservations for smaller parties, but they do have an option to add your name to a waitlist online through Yelp. Fortunately we arrived early enough that there wasn't a wait yet, and we were able to get seated almost immediately. First off, I love all the chicken decor. It suits the island vibe and is so Kauai! The food and drinks were all fantastic. A couple members of our party ordered sweets (french toast and waffles) and a couple of us did savory (breakfast sandwich and Kauai benedict). Across the board, we were all extremely happy with our choices and continued to rave about this meal even after it was over. If you love breakfast/brunch, definitely plan to visit Kountry Kitchen during your visit to Kauai!
There was a table for 2 immediately available. Server was friendly and accommodating. Portions were hearty. They sell rooster art and some items. The Kaua'i Benedict was tasty with the kalua pork and sweet bread. The coconut latte was a bit sweet but still good. Great local coffee. There's a 2% cash discount and 3% credit card processing fee.
Kountry Kitchen is a must while on the island! Great food with generous portions and friendly service. It's been nearly 11 years since we've been here and it's still a place to rave about. I love the homey feel, the rooster theme and cozy seating. Like our last visit, I enjoyed the kountry pancakes- Mac nut and add the coconut syrup! Sooo good! Note- it is a generous portion. You can probably share this with 2 others. Overall, love it here and will absolutely be back!
We actually have a Kountry Kitchen back home on O'ahu just 5 minutes from us in Ewa Beach, but we really wanted to try this Kauaʻi location before catching our flight back! Fun fact: it's run by a brother-and-sister duo, and I can honestly say this Kauaʻi spot takes the win for me. The Food & Drink: Kauaʻi Benedict (Hubs' pick): Kalua pork with lomi tomato/onion on Hawaiian bread. The hollandaise sauce was insanely buttery, and the eggs were poached to perfection. SO good! Ube Mochi Pancakes (Special): I was originally set on the ube French toast, but our amazing server Carrie convinced me to get these instead. Oh my word, zero regrets! It's a 3-stack smothered in rich ube sauce, coconut flakes, and coconut cream. They bring coconut syrup on the side, but as a total coconut lover, I didn't even need it; the coconut cream on top provided plenty of flavor! Coffee: Super solid cup brewed with local Waimea beans. PRO TIP: Get on the Yelp waitlist early! It gets super packed with both locals and tourists. I checked in on Yelp while we were still packed up at our Airbnb in Princeville. I was 17th in line. By the time we got there, I was 3rd in line and only had to wait 5 minutes before the host took us in. Also make sure to double-check their hours online since they have limited daytime hours. The ultimate final brunch stop on Kauaʻi before heading home! Mahalo! Huge shoutout to Carrie for being so fun, warm, and attentive!
Kauai still hasn't recovered from the pandemic. On a Saturday morning, not that early, it was tough to find anything that was open. The timing was such that they turned on the "open" sign as we were passing by. It's on Kuhio Highway, so there's free parking in front and a pay lot on the side. Note: The pay lot isn't paved and is very bumpy and rocky. There's a small cafe side and a larger restaurant side, with the kitchen in the middle. We were getting takeout do we opted for the cafe. There are a few tables and chairs. Prices were predictably high, but the portions were generous, and the food was good. I had the breakfast sandwich with eggs (not green) and ham. It was quite large, compared to any other breakfast sandwich I've had. The three others in my party enjoyed their food and drink, too. It would be nice to come back for lunch.
Girlfriend and I were trying to grab breakfast before we had to depart for the day, and she found Kountry Kitchen, and goddamn am I glad she did. I gotta say, I generally don't like grabbing food for take-out, it just doesn't taste as good, nor is it as fresh, but this place was worth it. My girlfriend called ahead and found they had a pretty long wait time. Sucked for us, but it's a good sign when there's a line out the door of people waiting to be seated. I was only inside a brief moment to pick up the food, but staff was very friendly, and the hustle and buzzle of the place gave this brunch spot that air of "you will clean your plate, you will eat too much, and you will like it." We decided on the Kauai Benedict and it was phenomenal. Egg's were on point in flavor and texture, the sweet roll worked as the perfect vessel for the flavors, and the kahlua pork was fantastic, cooked well, and seasoned flawlessly. To top it all off, they honored our request for extra crispy hash browns. It really does make one wonder, how much better would things have been if we didn't have to order for take out and we had the chance to dine in? 5/5 experience.
You know the saying .... "Never judge a book by its cover." I've passed up Kountry Kitchen on previous visits, but this time ... I'm glad I didn't!! It may not look like much from the outside, but step inside and it has warm, welcoming vibes! Kountry Kitchen is inviting when you step in. It's clean and the servers are very friendly! They have a good selection of breakfast and lunch items. My sister and I both ordered a traditional Benedict-she got hash browns & I got rice with mine. Fruit was the other option. The Benedict was tasty and filling. Large farm fresh eggs and a fairly thick slice of smoky ham. Hollandaise sauce was good. I definitely look forward to trying their Belgian waffles on my next visit. If you plan to dine here, I strongly recommend joining their waitlist on Yelp. Honestly, this is what impressed me most. My sister & I were driving from Princeville. And halfway to Kountry Kitchen, I joined the waitlist. I was 13th "in line." I checked in on their iPad upon our arrival and no less than 5 minutes later, we were taken back. I was worried that we'd be late because the highway was down to one lane at one point and traffic was crawling. By the time we got moving, we were 5th in line. We couldn't have timed it better!
There was a long wait but the food was amazing we got the the coconut French toast which were very light not very sweet even with syrup which was good because I don't like a crazy sweet breakfast and coconut is my favorite. My husband got the pulled pork Benedict which very good.
I visited Kountry Kitchen in Kapaʻa, Kauaʻi, Hawaii [4-1485 Kuhio Hwy] on Thursday, 01/22/26, around 10:30 AM. Giving two stars for a restaurant is rare from my end. Unfortunately, this restaurant provided a gigantic lackluster, and underwhelming experience. Here were the main issues: * The service was quite slow. It took a long while to be greeted initially at the table, and even longer to receive the bill at the end. * There were a few flies around during the entire meal, which made it super difficult to enjoy my food in peace. My comfort in eating was stripped away. * Parking was difficult to find in the immediate area. I had to park my vehicle up the street. * The price points for breakfast food were teetering more on the slightly expensive side. On the positive side, the food tasted decent. I ordered the Kalua Pork & Egg with a side of white toast and Portuguese Sausage. The wait time for seating was minimal, and the restaurant's interior was nice, especially with the gift shop filled with a lot of rooster-related products. Overall, I was not pleased with this visit, as it was a huge disappointment and letdown. Please take all things noted into consideration when coming to Kountry Kitchen.
Delicious home style grinds! I checked in as a party of 1 around 10 AM and was quoted a 50 min wait, but I actually ended up getting seated within 10-20 min. I got seated in a small corner, which was fine. I got the loco moco, which came with a big patty and drenched in gravy. The waitress was very nice, and actually checked in on me looking concerned because I ate my food so fast haha. Will definitely stop by next time I'm in the area!
We stumbled upon Kountry Kitchen while looking for breakfast. It was fairly empty when we arrived but quickly filled up which, to me, indicates a good breakfast reputation. The hashbrowns were crispy, the omelets were plentiful and the pancakes were huge. Portion size was reflected in the prices which, honestly, are pretty standard Hawaii prices (it just hurts this Texan to pay $20+ for a simple ingredient meal). The restroom was extremely clean and spacious. Kudos to the staff! Heads up: being cash if you want to save 2% or else be prepare for a 3% up charge for credit card purchases.
Checked out this breakfast place based on other reviews raving about the coconut syrup and pancakes. I pictured the inside differently, but it was clean and they had plenty of seating and high chairs for little ones. The Ube French toast, was delicious and probably the best "Ube sweet breakfast" I enjoyed while vacationing on the islands, but other than that I wouldn't return. It was on the pricier side, but the service was good overall. The loco moco was probably our least favorite on the island. They do have a gift shop in the front of the restaurant you can purchase from and they'll even ship it out for you for a fee. The coffee was good, but they'll charge you $2 for a to-go cup. If you pay in cash there is a small discount.
Hello Fellow Yelpers First time visitor here and was told that we had to try Kountry Kitchen. Heads up, this place is very popular and always has a wait. I was not disappointed with the food and wonderful service. We already on our second visit. Since you're here on Yelp and you're interested in dining here... GET ON THE WAITLIST ahead of time which can be accessed via the Yelp app We made that mistake and just showed up at 11:15am. I had to enter my name on the list and saw I was 18th in line and it would take about an hour and 15 minutes to be seated. It really did take an hour before I got a text saying our table would be ready soon. The staff was welcoming, full of smiles, and happy to answer questions. Of course our eyes were bigger than our stomachs but here's what we ordered: Macnut Latte w/ Oat Milk Americano Spam & Cheddar Omelette Keiki Pancakes with a side of Nutella Porker Ube French Toast Everything was tasty, rich and heavy... we did not finish everything. One of those food coma type of places and the dishes are worth sharing, if that's your thing. All of this was just under $100 after tip. It was our first meal on the island so we wanted to try it, despite the wait but if I would've done it differently, I probably would've went to a lunch plate spot next to the airport. read more

We had to eat at the most popular breakfast spot on Kauai this restaurant was packed with locals and tourists from everywhere. The ambience is Rooster Country with a Kauai outdoor cabin feel. The menu and variety of food was great. The service was and hospitality was very pleasant. read more

if i had to direct anyone to only one place for breakfast on kaua'i, id send them here, no doubt in my mind. the food is just phenomenal and so fresh. i got a side of papaya that was heavenly. i got the kalua pork loco moco with homemade corn bread. it changed the game, it was soooo good. join the waitlist before you arrive if you can, chances are you'll still have a small wait when you get to the restaurant. but trust me, it is worth it. i miss the food here already. read more

We joined the waitlist with several people ahead of us but the wait wasn't too long; you can also join the list at the restaurant info page. The lady came quickly to get our order: I had to have the Loco Moco because it's a fave of mine and tastes so much better when someone else prepares it :) Freshly squeezed lemonade is deliciously tart, depending on what's available on the day; there are other fruit juices available but I like lemons.... The ambience is all Hawaiian with many paintings of the ocean and the notorious Kauai chickens rattan chairs and 'marble' tables where we were seated. The main dining area also has tables in the booth fashion, where you sit on wood seats. It's very very busy today, being a holiday, but I think it's always full because of the line outside waiting. The lady taking our order was super nice, helpful and friendly! TIL to learned to say "a hui hou kakou" : until we meet again :) Everyone there was enjoying their food, and I'm sure we'll be back again. Mahalo read more

We were in Kauai for 5 days, and came here twice! Great service with friendly staff, their food is excellent! I have family members who love to eat Pork Chops, we had to come back before heading to the airport! Highly recommend to join the waitlist before you are heading to the restaurant! read more

Excellent place for a great and filling breakfast in Kauai. Excellent Loco Moco and the Sweet Bread French toast is amazing. Service is good. Recommend getting on the waitlist and then head over. Se added our names before leaving Princeville, 30 minutes later...we arrived and still #4 on the waitlist. Eclectic little place, unassuming on the side of the road. Can't miss the bright orange lettering...lol. Worth the wait. More food than you can shake a stick at. read more

The ORIGINAL Kountry Kitchen. Highlight is the ability to get on the waitlist via Yelp, be SURE ALL MEMBERS ARE PRESENT TO BE SEATED. Indoor and outdoor seating available. The menu is the same as the Ewa Beach location. The food is onolicious, I recommend the Ube French toast or the loco moco. There's also merch for sale, gorgeous hand painted hats. read more

Always a delicious meal with amazing waitstaff who are friendly and hardworking. Carrie and Este are da best ! I love my usual breakfast, bacon avocado eggs Benedict. I usually don't stray far from that unless they have the crab Benedict ! :) Husband is adventurous. He gets something new every week. Often the "special". Yesterday's Pigs in a Blanket were to die for. He also loved the Fiesta Omelette and the Benedict made with cornbread and fresh spinach and homemade sausage patty. I saw this restaurant was highly rated and had to come check it out! It did NOT disappoint! Definitely worth the wait! My husband and I came here for breakfast and we liked it so much we came back a second time! I'm an ube lover and had to get their French toast. REALLY good, not slathered in sauce, perfect amount of balance with ube sauce and it was even topped with coconut flakes! My husband ordered a coconut latte and it was so good we ordered it the second time we came back. Hashbrowns were CRISPY and cooked to perfection. Our waitress was so nice and attentive. This is the best breakfast place you'll find on Kauai. read more

Definitely go on a weekday if you want to avoid the lines! Very comfortable restaurant, friendly staff, and a few healthy options on the menu since I'm trying to manage my weight and eat healthier. Service, food, location, vibes all amazing. We ate there twice in two days. Go with someone you can share food with so you can try more. It was a bit of a wait to get in, but we were a party of 8, so understandable. Our server was fantastic - she had a great sense of humour and said we were a fun group to serve. For context, we were one of her last tables of the day - they close at 1pm and it was well past noon when we were seated. Food was excellent all around and we had a great time.
