What an absolute gem! First of all, great service. Both servers checked on us frequently, food and drink was brought out promptly, and it was all done with respect and a smile. We ordered the premium nigiri combo and sushi combo A. All cuts of fish were fresh, flavorful, very high quality, and BEAUTIFUL! The fact that both combos came with miso soup was a surprise to us as we have rarely seen an accompanying dish with a chefs choice combo at other restaurants. I appreciated the portion sizes of fish in each piece as well. We also ordered a salmon skin roll for an appetizer which was very good. Finally, three gorgeous pieces of hamachi sashimi that were presented in a stoneware dish containing dry ice. Nice effect!! Great value overall as this + two beers was $110. I'll definitely be adding this to our regular rotation.

While the food was very tasty, their prices are a little high for lunch. And it felt rather odd that the waitress kept walking circles around the tables while we ate. Then at 2 pm, the staff sits down at a table and eats, talking to each other with food in their mouths

Great quality fish and the staff we're all so warm and welcoming. We will definitely be back! We got two specialty rolls, a poke bowl, 4 pieces of nigiri, two miso soups, and a salad all for 80 dollars which is a great price considering the quality.

BEST JAPANESE IN PORTLAND! Located in the old town area of Beaverton, this tiny little Japanese restaurant packs a big whallop! The food is fresh, beautifully presented, and the portions are big. I ordered the Bento box and easily could have shared it. So much food! All the sushi and sashimi were excellent, the tempura was wonderful, and we even had a delicious cold sake. The staff is always so friendly and accommodating. Check out the amazing Shogun Tower Roll. If you come on the weekends, the place is small so there might be a wait, but the area is cute to walk around while you wait. BE BOLD, and try something new. Every dish is a delight. This will soon become your go-to place for great Japanese.

The yuzu sake highball reminded me of the ones in Japan i loved 10/10! the bento box vibe was so cute and delicious i would get it again next time, it is very filling for two people since the rolls themselves are bigger than a normal roll

Had an excellent lunch here today! Service, food and sake were perfect. It's a small space, so we arrived early to make sure we were seated well. Spendy? No. Worth every penny!

Amazing, fresh fish well presented and pleasing to the eye. Had our favorites including sashimi platter, shrimp tempura, ama ebi, soft shell crab, hamachi kama, and tonkatsu. The folks were very attentive and courteous. We enjoyed every bite by taking our time and savoring each of the different flavors. It was a zen like experience. Sitting at the bar felt like old times in Hawaii with the best chef, the freshest fish and the most satisfying dinner in a long time! WOW! A place to return for another peaceful meal!

My friend and I arrived close to closing time and didn't think we'd be seated, but the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, which set the tone for the entire experience. As soon as the food arrived, I couldn't help but notice how amazing the presentation was. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. My husband and I stopped for dinner on our way to Grand Lodge after seeing the reviews on Yelp and we were so happy we did. The location is so cute and truly authentic. We ordered the monster roll and house roll as well as the Japanese chicken appetizer and all of it was amazing! The effort they put into their presentation is AMAZING! Koya Sushi used to be my top choice for sushi in Beaverton. i'm not sure what's happened, but it seems like they've been gradually slipping in quality. aside from their classics, like the hang ten roll, my favorite roll is (or was....) the toro toro roll. however, my handful of experiences ordering this roll in recent history have been wildly inconsistent and disappointing. they make it differently every time. sometimes they sear the toro, sometimes they don't. sometimes they forget the asparagus. the last time i ordered it, the fish smelled and tasted weird. this time, instead of layering a slice of seared toro on top, i'm fairly certain that they used regular tuna, crushed it up, and then topped the roll with that. for being a $25 roll, it's the least appetizing roll on my plate. the texture is all wrong. i'd rather throw back california rolls all day long than eat this even once. at this point, i think i'm breaking up with Koya. Update: Byung-Ho, thank you for your attention and response to this issue. unfortunately, there was no way to notify your staff of any issue to ask them to remake the roll because this was a take-out order. however, i have raised an issue in the past when we dined in, and the roll was not re-made at that time. the toro on top was seared too much til it was completely cooked through, and when i spoke with the staff about it, they told me "that's just the way it's made." i knew that wasn't true because i'd ordered this roll many times before. anyway, i posted a picture with the review showing how it was made incorrectly this time. crushed tuna on top of the roll is not how it's supposed to come. i hope greater attention is given to this roll and that takeout orders are inspected more closely in the future.

This is one of our regular spots for sushi or a bento box. Their service is always great, food is excellent, and their pricing is reasonable. The sushi chefs create some really neat presentations with their different specials, always worth a gander even if it's for the table next to you! Highly recommend for a step up from a go-round.

The service was fast and light on a weekday lunch. Fish was not as fresh as other places for less stars. Hope the quality will improve. This was 3rd time eating here and first time fish was separating and the unagi still had entrails attached. read more

We really like this place. This was our second visit this year when staying in the Beaverton area. It is a small, seemingly family-run place with impeccable sushi and sashimi. Instead of sashimi we had a spicy hamachi appetizer plate that was excellent along with a nice creamy, spicy scallop gunkan, eel nigiri and a tempura shrimp/spicy tuna roll. We restrained ourselves and didn't spend as much as we had back in Feb. The two of us were able to sit right down at the sushi bar even on a Sat night but we would have had to wait about 20 min for a table. By the time our food really started to roll in, we could probably have moved to a table. For us, if we are nearby, we will be sure to stop by. read more

If you're planning to dine in at this place anytime soon, there are only 3 tables available to sit inside. I'd call ahead before dropping in! To see what the waitlist is looking like. We ended up getting takeout because of this but the quality of the food and presentation still looked like how I'd imagine in to dining in. They're also operating on a somewhat limited menu--several items were crossed off. Sushi was super bomb here! Everything tasted so fresh: You can't go wrong with California rolls, but my fave out of our order had to be the lobster crunch roll. I unfortunately wasn't able to try any of the more traditional sushi (my kids won't eat anything raw) so I'm looking forward to trying that out next time I come back! read more

The best sushi in the area. What makes this place excellent is the freshness of the fish, followed by the selection. They seem to regularly have toro, uni, amaebi and hotate. I walked passed this place several times during covid and it was empty, bad sign for a sushi place. But after seeing the 5 stars, decided to give it a try. The three or four times I've since been, the place has been slammed and for good reason. But the best thing I can say about this place is when I tried ordering the escolar, the chef decided the quality wasn't up to standard and didn't serve it. This is how all restaurants should manage quality. This is where I'll get my sushi from now on, from this area. read more

Good things come in small packages. This intimate sushi establishment keeps 3 sushi chefs busy crafting artisanal rolls with some of the best fish we've ever had in our sushi. Great atmosphere, great food...sit at the sushi bar to watch the masters at work. read more

Haven't had sushi in a while and Koya crushed it. Great rolls, good communication and a convenient ordering process. Sushi isn't ready yet? I sat out front in the seating area and had a beer. It was perfect. I've been back twice now. Probably my new favorite sushi spot. read more

Wow. I couldn't believe all of the five star reviews could be true...but the are! We had a delightful experience. Super fresh fish, great covid safety, pleasant staff, excellent outdoor seating. This is what Bamboo used to be before they seemingly sold out (and they didn't curate their fish and ensure freshness and have truly good sushi). We will be back for sure. SO GOOD! read more

Truly amazing sushi in Beaverton! I find most sushi places in Beaverton was good but this place really knocked out any other place. The fish was so fresh and they have rolls that are unique. Rolls might seem a bit pricey but the quality is worth it. Currently they offer takeout only for the sushi bar. I ordered items online and was able to set a time for pickup. I had no issues with ordering online. I can't wait to go back and try more rolls. I recommend the Shogun Tower Roll. I couldn't decide which roll to get but this tower roll satisfied all the cravings. read more

We ordered 4 rolls and all were delicious. This is a cute spot and they have a kids play area just outside under tents. The ex-girlfriend roll was particularly good and unlike any roll I've ever had. It doesn't have rice but has a clear paper-like wrap that you can't taste. Our waitress was very nice and attentive and the rolls arrived extremely quick. We will definitely be back! read more

My daughter and I ate at Koya this evening. Thursday night, arrived around 8:15 or so. Not too busy at all! The menu had quite a wide selection. Service was perfect. I felt as if the two waitresses kept a close eye on all the tables and definitely wanted to make sure that we had exactly what we wanted. Chefs were interactive and happy. The food was both delicious and beautiful. Lots of orchid flowers coming out on the plates, adorning the beautiful and clean-looking food. In my opinion, pricing was fair. This is now my go-to sushi place whenever I am craving it, and I live much closer to downtown than here. Fish is always fresh, rice is perfect (actual sushi rice), staff are friendly and ordering fast. Clean interior, and they're taking precautions with Covid procedures. The restaurant is located right in front of the downtown Beaverton outdoor dining area so you can eat outside if there's still a limitation on dining in. For to-go orders, they're always packaging the food nicely and securely. I just want to give a shout-out to the amount of gingers and wasabi in the to-go boxes, they do not skimmed! Love everything about this restaurant and I'll be a long term customer! read more

Clean interiors and good cuts of fish. Just as Beaverton was getting saturated with only conveyor belt sushi spots we get Koya. The cuts aren't crazy thick or big but they're well balanced. The presentation was on point. I went when they were still offering dine-in, but it seems like right now they're doing take out, delivery apps and seating outside. Opening a small business during a pandemic is hard but they're not skimping on the quality of ingredients. I would highly suggest Koya in Beaverton if you need a small business to support. read more

Koya is our favorite sushi place outside of Portland - possibly our favorite in general. The food is always amazing whether it's to go or in the restaurant. I'm not normally a roll person, but oh my goodness they make good rolls here. The nigiri is always fresh and amazing. Can't recommend it enough. read more

Went for lunch showed up at 2:13pm. They said they were closed. Sign on door and on internet says 2;30pm. They didn't care. I did Like the food here that's why I returned. They should post They close after 2pm depending on volume. I'm not happy as I wanted to eat here. Don't post 2:30 if it's a lie. read more

Very sweet, melt in your mouth, perfect mouthfeel! That was our first bite of the day and it really set the tone for the rest of what we ordered. We then had the kanpachi, madai, escolar, and ikura. I really enjoyed the madai and the escolar. Those were both buttery but had a great texture/chew. The kanpachi was fine, I wasn't expecting it to be slightly charred, but that's a personal preference! Next was the ika and the Hokkaido scallop. The Ika was delicious! Everywhere I go I always order the ika, and the Ika here was just as tasty and chewy. They added a shiso leaf with it, giving it more of a different flavor profile, slightly spiced/bitter. But I quite enjoyed that. The Hokkaido scallop was soo incredibly tasty. It was soft, bouncy, and sweet! No fishiness that can sometimes be found with scallops imo. Lastly for nigiri we got the spot shrimp. I thought this was just okay, similar to how I felt about the ikura. Not bad but there were better hits with the nigiri we ordered. Rolls: hamachico was my favorite roll we got out of the two. The yellowtail was so light tasting it almost felt like a palate cleanser with all the food we ordered, it was really good I'd order this again! The lobster roll was okay, I think the chunks of fried lobster on it was great, the base was like a slightly more elevated California roll as my partner described it. It was overall good. Negimaki: this was so so juicy with each bite and full of flavor! Would definitely order this one again. Lobster karaage: the breading to lobster was spot on. These were large fluffy chunks of lobster with just the perfect amount of crunchy breading. Paired with the spicy mayo and the tartar sauce- so delish! Miso soup: it was packed with clams, enoki mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, scallops, tofu, etc. the pot was PACKED. I didn't even get a photo, but I absolutely loved this. I'm not really a miso soup girl, but seeing how much others raved about it, we had to order it and I'm so glad we did. Best miso soup I've ever had! The star of the dinner was their ankimo, hands down. I've tried so many others, but this was so soft, creamy, perfect umami. I would've ordered seconds if we didn't have so much other food already. Overall dinner was delicious, and I definitely have my eye on so many other menu items to try next time!
