This is the worst sushi I've had in several years. I'm just going to list everything and put notes at the end. -Rice was over cooked and gummy. -Rice was either very poorly seasoned or unseasoned completely. -Nigiri sushi preparer (I refuse to call them a chef) packed it so densely and with so much rice that it was hard to chew. This also lead to not being able to taste the fish or even the soy sauce. -The fish was bland and dry. Not spoiled but poorly kept. -Overall seasoning/saucing was poorly done. -Table setteing was not ready and after 10 minutes we finally had to ask for it. We were brought out sushi setting with old, hard and darkened powdered wasabi. As of it were dolloped in the morning and set to wait. -Menu was cheaply printed and had several typos. These critiques have nothing to do with covid and everything to do with either a lack of experiance or possibly an owner forcing skipped corners that won't let a real chef do what he knows how to do. You would be hard pressed to get me to eat here again, even if for free. read more

This a great place to get AYCE. It's local to my city and it's hard to find any AYCE sushi places. I can tell I can bring some great vibes with life of the party people here. The quality is great for the price and the beer is always on special and not just kirin like other spots. Here they have the Asahi on special which in my opinion is better than Kirin. The service is pretty quick during the weekends. The chefs are always asking if everything is ok. Great service, good food and and big variety of sushi plates. I found my new go to spot for the price. Normally my bill would come out to $120 but last time I came with a friend and had two beers it was only $56 what a deal!! read more

I have never written a review before but this sushi place made me pick up my phone and start posting right away. First off, let me start by saying if I could give less than 1 stars, I would. I am not qualified to give out ratings out of 5 but I am able to taste "inedible". My boyfriend and I love sushi. We have been to many AYCE sushi places and can easily tell the difference in qualities and tastes. But this place does not need someone with a well palate to figure out that the food is inedible. Let me start by saying the food quality was below average with thin salmon/tuna on top of thick, big rice (not even your typical sushi rice - just hard sticky rice). Then without warning, came the yellowtail. As soon as I put it in my mouth I gagged and had to spit it out because it was rotten. They were serving RAW ROTTEN fish to customers. when we returned the food, not only did the service and chef not give a shit but just threw it away without any taste or remorse as if they intended on serving shit to customers. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. There are better AYCE places - please go to them. I wanted to give this place a good review but the food was not edible. My son and I ordered all you can eat. We ordered nigiri- salmon , tuna , albacore, yellow tail and shrimp. They were all rubbery, no flavor and the albacore was so gamey- I had one bite and I didn't want to eat the rest. I was afraid I'd get charged the over order fee so I put the rest in my soup bowl. The golden tiger roll came out and the batter was so gross and the crab was flavorless. The geisha roll was really bad, not fresh fish and the spicy tuna had a weird almost chemical taste to it. The lemon love roll was a ok but I could not get more than a bite down since all the other options were souring my stomach. My son was going to order salmon again but I had to tell him I didn't think it was a good idea. He's new to raw fish but he said he didn't try the salmon, when I looked the salmon had that white film which I told him it's ok to have that, I tried it but it had no flavor. It's a shame because I'm a single mom, that was a huge financial mistake on my part. We paid $80 for one meal that we didn't really even eat or enjoy. Lesson learned. I'm a big fan of koya and have been coming here for awhile and today came with a group of friends, expecting, all-you-can-eat as advertised. They were a little new to sushi so we started off slower with some small portion items, the server(I never got her name) was awfully rude and rushing for the two groups there including ourselves. So we had maybe 4 rolls and a few sides by round 3 and when waiting for our next menus we were told that we can't order anymore? What kind of all you can eat is that? Some of the rolls are mislabeled, cook really likes to cover up the flavor of frozen fish by making the rolls swim in sauce. Very good sushi and it was made pretty quickly. We ordered 5 specialty rolls during happy hour so they were all half price. The 3 of us chose the Fuji roll, the Shrimp Love roll, the Shrimp Tempura roll, the Vegas roll, and the Tokyo roll. My personal favorite is the Vegas (bc deep fried and cream cheese). I didnt care for the spicy tuna rolls (Fuji and Tokyo) but I think thats just my personal opinion, my dad who ordered them liked it. Definitely worth it to go for the 50% off happy hour. read more

There was one server and he was nice but can tell he was overwhelmed but there was only 3 tables at the time. This place is nestled between jack in the box and local atacor spot. The overal decor on the inside is quaint and the servers are friendly. The food variety is plentiful, I highly recommend the baked lobster rolls and udon. My one suggestion would be the variety in appetizers as when we went they were out of a few. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, and they have half priced rolls until 6 pm. Due to a review complaining about a lack of freshness in the raw fish, I ordered only cooked items: a tempura shrimp roll, one with fried crawfish, and tempura calimari. I was impressed that the calimari was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Unfortunately, the tempura shrimp roll was sliced in a sloppy way, without attention to detail. Some middle slices were half an inch wide and others were at least an inch and a half wide. (I know the end slices are usually bigger.) I've eaten sushi in quite a few places, and never experienced poor presentation before. I saw the chef standing behind the sushi counter, talking to another man for a long time. I got the impression his coversation was more important than the food. I really wouldn't trust the chef to look out for worms in my raw fish, if he's just not paying good attention to the food. Woo! Finally a sushi restaurant in West Whittier!! It's not just a sushi restaurant, it's a really good sushi restaurant. We were seated right away on Friday afternoon for dinner. There are booth tables, bar, and tables for larger parties. We ordered our usual favorites that included the baked lobster roll, the shrimp crunch roll and the California roll. All with spicy mayo sauce of course and they all came out in a timely manner. Our waitress was very sweet and helpful. The rolls were everything we would expect in a roll and flavor. They have some really cool creative names for some of the rolls and we would totally gives those a try on our next visit.
