I was definitely a doughnut snob when Krispy Kreme came to town. I was happy with the offerings from Voodoo Doughnut downtown and Sesame Doughnut on the west side. I scoffed at the endless long lines of people who actually camped out on 82nd awaiting the grand opening of the first Krispy Kreme in Portland. And I stubbornly held on to my bias by refusing to ever go there. So it should come at no surprise that not only was my first experience to Krispy Kreme was against my will, but it also happened that it wasn't at the Portland location. I was actually vacationing in Maui with my sisters when my aunt called and requested that I buy a couple dozen KK doughnuts to bring back for her (there aren't any KK locations where she lives in Honolulu). My grudge against KK slowly thawed when I was greeted with a melt in your mouth original glazed, complimentary no less! It was that fateful trip that began my love affair with KK, which is so good and cheap that I always get this guilty feeling as if I have cheated when I stop by every few weeks or so. Although it usually gets a 5 star review in my book, today it's one star off because instead of the usual entire doughnut that I usually get when the "Hot Now" sign is on, the employees cut up the doughnuts and I only received 1/4 instead. I stopped here for my boys because they wanted some Krispy Kreme doughnuts! It's been years since we have had them. I sat and had the original with some milk and was sadly disappointed in the taste. Was super stoked when they came to Portland...but now it's not tolerable. Donuts are priced too high for the size and taste. Their basis glaze donut is soft and taste like it's been dipped in sugar. Even though they're gone after you fall in love, I still like being surprised and wondering what's next. The staff always gets my order right and they're always nice. I've seen a lot of KK stores, but this one was one of the best. I was able to find every donuts on the menu, the personal was very professional and with a great attitude, just a great experience. My cold coffee was done to perfection, the 96oz container, no leaks, everything come with it. The 4 dozens were perfectly sealed and tucked nicely into a big bag with KK logo. I was stoked when Krispy Kreme came to my neck of the woods. It was an event. After the initial honeymoon period, I came here less and less. After going back recently, I have a couple thoughts to share. First: these doughnuts are expensive. Get ready to shell out $10.99 for a mixed dozen. Sure, it's only $8.99 to get a dozen original glazed, but that's still pretty steep for what you're getting. Second: when the Hot Light is on, it's time for doughnuts. As a medical worker if you guys run out of donuts I completely understand. But you don't have to be so rude about it. I went there today after working a 13 hour shift with patients and there was no sign outside stating that there was no more free glazed donuts. I don't really care about the free dozen donuts I care about the attitude that the person gave me. Horrible customer service especially to a medical worker that's been working with coronavirus patients. Krispy Kreme and management you guys can keep your free glaze donuts. There's no point to be rude to a medical worker that's helping the community taking care of patients. I went to this location Monday, May 11 at 7:15 PM please go to that 7-Eleven across the street this location has horrible customer service and obviously they're hiring people that don't respect medical workers. Any other restaurant or fast food place I would ever went to they normally have a huge sign saying if they're out of certain things. Drove up from Salem to get a BOGO dozen to find out that Krispy Kreme does not honor their corporations' coupons. I guess thats their right: my right was to turn around and walk out angrily. I have to say I'm shocked right now. Simply in disbelief. I haven't been to Krispy Kreme in months - only get here like maybe a couple times a year and usually to a different location. Well today is my birthday and I decided to come out and pick up a free birthday donut. Awesome, got it, no problem. That's nice of you guys do that. I put it in my car then came back in and asked the guy for the restroom code. He asked if I purchased an item. I told him I got a free birthday donut. He said I need to be a paying customer to use the restroom. For a second I thought he was actually joking. I said, "Is that a joke?" Him, "No, that's our policy. You need to purchase an item to use the restroom." And he was so serious and stern. Then he added, "You got your donut, right?" Me: Yes. Him: Ok then. I can't even describe how rude he was. Well I'm 8 months pregnant, due next month. Pregnant ladies need the bathroom frequently. I would NEVER treat a customer in this way, and especially if it's something like their birthday and they're obviously pregnant. I came into my car, shocked, looking for corporate email. As I sat here, a lady came out and waved at me to open my door. I stepped out. She said, "That was the most ridiculous thing ever. I can not believe he treated you like that! I didn't even get my donut that I came for. I'm just shocked! I'm so sorry he treated you that way. What a jerk. I'm going to call corporate." She was visibly upset. I asked if she got the guy's name. She said, "Steve, the general manager, but he wouldn't give me his last name. I told him I couldn't understand why he did that, and he told me he doesn't understand the vandalism that goes on in his bathroom." She even gave me a hug. I'm honestly just shocked and don't even know what to think. Maybe if I would have worn makeup, done my hair, and dressed nicer, he would have given me permission to use his restroom, assuming I don't look like someone who would vandalize his bathroom. I wish you could give less than one star. Came here to do some computer work and enjoy a donut. While the donuts a extremely unimpressive, the Internet is way worse. First of all, you only get 1 free hour of Internet before they charge you. What is this? The ice age?!? Krispy Kreme please join the rest of us in the 21st century and offer some damn free wifi. But that's not even the best part....... The wifi they have is absolute crap. Won't load videos, and barely loads Facebook... I may be prejudiced with my review because I grew up with these in Kentucky and couldn't understand the crazy media frenzy they got when they came to Oregon. Nor could I understand the police having to help the long lines of cars trying to get here for the grand opening. I mean, they sell these in the gas stations back in Louisville, so its just another grocery item. However, all that said, they are still my favorite doughnut. If you get the basic glazed doughnut when they come out warm, they are light and airy almost, not a dense heavy doughnut at all. I am not a milk drinker, but the first bite makes me want milk for some reason. I do get some of the other flavors, like the Boston Creme, and the chocolate has such a good melt in your mouth quality, I will get one with my glazed. The prices aren't too bad here either, you can let them pick a dozen or you pick a dozen. Either way, I think its a great place to get a sugar high and then pull out onto 82nd so happy the traffic won't even send you over the edge. read more

Then when I thought things couldn't get worse, we opened the box when we got home and they didn't put the donuts that we asked for. Definitely never going back to that Krispy Kreme. read more

Rudest customer service ever. Held on to my card for a good 5 minutes before telling me "it's declined" even though the chip wasn't working. Defensively said they swiped it but it didn't go through. This is hands down the worst Krispy Kreme in Oregon/SW Washington. Corporate should just close it because it gives all of them a bad name. I purchased $25 on The Krispy Kreme app and went to use it at this location and the employee's and management couldn't make it work. I was actually told I would have to pay with another form of payment. Also, forget getting points added to your account, they can never make it work. I've been to this location three times and I give up. Their donuts NEVER tasted fresh and the employees are rude and incompetent. Needless to say I left without getting anything, but I went to the Vancouver, WA location and had no issues at all. This is what I want to know...why doesn't Krispy Kreme post advertisements of allll of their donuts? I go there regularly and while in the drive-thru, I always have to ask which donuts are not on the menu. So today, I was excited to find out that they have quite a few Halloween decorated donuts but as always, there were no advertisements or listing of which donuts, while in the drive-thru. I asked the person on the call box which donuts they had that were not on the menu and there were at least 6. Four of which were Halloween which I was really excited about but each donut had a different filling, different icing, different shape and different decoration (Frankenstein, pumpkin i think and some other ones). It was too much for me to remember so I said "I'll just go inside so I can see all of them and then make my decision about what I want in my dozen". So I go inside and wait forever in line....and when I got up to where the donuts were... THEY WERE NOT EVEN DISPLAYED There were no advertisements, no lists. I couldn't even visually see what the donuts looked like because they were just back on a rack somewhere. So once again, I tried to have the employee list off all the donuts and tried my best to remember which one had which filling and blah blah but it's very loud in there and I am partially deaf so I kept asking her to repeat herself. I gave up and just got the basic donuts which was annoying because I could have done that 20 minutes prior when I was ordering in the drive-thru. The only reason I'm complaining about this now is because it happens constantly and also because it makes no logical sense from a business perspective...why would you not have any marketing for your seasonal products or at the very least have them displayed in-store? Haha. The only reason I even knew about them was because I specifically asked which donuts they have that are not listed because I know how this place is. I first encountered the sugary deliciousness of Krispy Kreme hwile visiting relatives in the south as a child. Needless to say, I was hooked on that flashing sign that read "HOT!" I must admit that Krispy Kreme donuts are like crack to me. I feel the need to eat one, then need another hit later, and another, oy! I love voo doo as well, but sometimes you want a simple, comfort donut. You can even be lazy and not get out of your car, and use the drive thru. Awhile back, I remembered Krispy Kreme Doughnuts open for the first time in Portland. It was ridiculous on how many people wanted some of the donuts. The initial bite of the first donut was delicious, but eventually it got very old. However, I did enjoy watching the process of how the donut was being made. This is something that most donuts shops need to do. I would rate this a 3 stars because in my opinion, it's A-OK. read more

As a transplant from the east coast, I'm constantly on the lookout for vanilla cream doughnuts. Krispy Kreme has them and they are so good that my eyes sort of cross when I eat them. They also have 5 and 10¢ coffee. The only reason I took off a star was because I didn't really like the guy who waited on us last time. I asked for a 10¢ coffee, an apple cider doughnut and an original glazed. He then asked me what I wanted again. I told him again. He got the cider doughnut. Then he asked me what else I wanted. I told him again. Then he got the original doughnut. Then he asked what what size coffee I said I wanted. I told him I wanted a 10¢ coffee. Then he asked me how many I wanted. And I repeated that I only needed one. Then he rang me up. Then he went and got the coffee. My husband got his coffee and said thanks and the kid just sort of stared at him. AND the sign was on in the window that they had hot glazed doughnuts and usually they'll give you one for free when that sign is on but since he didn't I figured it just wasn't my lucky day. When I sat down, I noticed that he actually gave free doughnuts to the families that followed us. Groups of 5 and 6 got free ones but the two of us didn't! Sad! I guess it was pretty funny now that I think about it but I really wanted my doughnut at the time! Every other time I've gone there I've had good service. I have to admit that I worked in my family's bakery on and off for 10 years and two doughnuts and a coffee is just about as easy as it gets. But the final result was delicious!
