I agree with many of the reviews - this place has seriously gone downhill. I had been disappointed lately, but keep going back because it's local and I love Thai food. I ordered the lunch Pad Thai and spring rolls to go. Pad Thai is usually so tasty - this was colorless and flavorless plate of noodles and bean sprouts. The spring rolls tasted like they had been fried in oil that had gone off, and contained barely any filling. Worst off, the meal came to over $16 - for lunch - very overpriced. I also noticed for some reason the restaurant has started selling sushi - not sure how that fits in with Thai food. It's too bad this place has done downhill - Ashland has so few decent restaurants, but the next time I'm feeling like Thai food, I'm not going here. read more

I brought my kids here for lunch during February vacation. We usually eat Thai food at the new Thai place in Framingham and we were in ashland... So I thought we should give it a try. Decor inside was authentic and clean. We started with some dumplings (yum) and each had a lunch special to enjoy. Kids said that the food was just as good as Thai place and I think it was better. Service was good and accommodating to our "not so spicy" preferences. We will be back next time we are in the area. read more

I've been a customer at Krua for years - I enjoyed the ambiance and the Thai cuisine. However lately it has been a disappointing experience; the portions are becoming smaller and smaller. The service is not ideal - waiters and waitresses come and go constantly. They appears lost and confused. It is not unusual to get the wrong dish delivered to your table or get your orders short one dish. I also had to complain once to the hostess as the Shrimp Pad Thai that I ordered had only 4 small shrimp !!!! I felt cheated out of my order as it was just pasta, a few vegetables and 4 measly little shrimp. 4 shrimp in a dish that cost over $12.oo is just being cheap, please !!!! read more

I usually order takeout from this restaurant. I usually get an appetizer, crab ragoons and entree tofu pad Thai. I was craving pad Thai the other day so I decided to order here. I have to say, huge disappointment. This isn't the first time I've been ordering here so I know what I'm expecting. However the last two or times ordering here, their crab ragoons have been stale and burnt. You can tell they just refried the dough, it taste weird. Tried takeout from here for the first time tonight. We ordered the fresh roll appetizer, the sizzling gai him, spicy eggplant, and brown rice. I took a look at the decor when I picked up the food, and the place looked nice. Certainly a place where I'd be fine eating in. Food was ready for pickup when promised, and definitely hot. The fresh rolls were tasty with big basil leaves, and the order came with 3 rolls rather than the more typical 2. The sizzling gai him was slightly spicy with lots of chicken, pineapple, veggies, and cashews. Very typical Thai dish, but done well. The spicy eggplant definitely had some chili kick. Eggplants were beautiful, with nice purple skin. Lots of other veggies in this dish, too. Brown rice was a pretty small container, but was very dense and enough for two to share. All in all, a very positive first experience, and I'll certainly takeout from here again and/or go in for a dinner visit. read more

This is my new favorite place for lunch now that I work in this area. The food is great and the atmosphere is nice and the service is great. The lunch menu is very extensive and full of a wide variety of noodle and rice dishes. The appetizers are also good including the Shumai, one of my favorites. We live close to this place so get it a lot..eating there is never great because the service is usually horrible, but the food is good enough to keep us coming back (mostly for take out or delivery now, which is usually pretty fast!) The last couple of times we have gotten food from here, though, I was pretty disappointed. I ordered a chicken satay salad and for $8 was pretty bummed when it was delivered with 3 pieces tofu on top instead of chicken and definitely small enough to be a side, not a meal. I also usually really love their Rad Nah but it has tasted burnt the last couple of times I have had it. The rest of their food never fails, classic, delicious Pad Thai, good appetizers and killer Thai iced tea! They could step up their game a little by being more accurate on orders and maybe not burning the food quite as often! Otherwise, I'm pretty sure we'll continue ordering from here! read more

Disenchanted youth work here, which means that your order will most likely be completely wrong. Went here for my mom's birthday and we were looking forward to some tasty food. However, the waiter was completely apathetic - we ordered two appetizers and only got one. My mom ordered a chicken curry dish, but she got salmon. No one was asked if we would like rice....but somehow got an order of brown rice!? Very strange. My husband ordered a beer, which came 20 minutes later. We came in to have dinner while doing laundry across the street. Let me start off to say the soda was flat and when asked waitress if she had bottles she didn't check nor get new soda. i ordered the veggie delight and and veggie fried rice as entrees let me say that was the blandest food to us the veggie delight wasn't as bad due to it having some type of brown sauce. We ordered spring rolls and the scallion pancakes and that was the best thing!the waiteress had an attitude seemed to not want to be there but that would make sense because there are Hiring signs all over an it also seemed that the owner was one of the cooks and was back and forth between the kitchen and bar which is So not sanitary!! For being a Thai restaurant in the suburbs, this place is wonderful! I ordered Chicken Pad Thai and wasn't disappointed - it was a large portion and absolutely delicious. Because there was a $20 delivery minimum I added the Gyoza appetizer to my order. They were also absolutely delicious! The delivery was quick, too. This is the best Thai in the Natick/Framingham area I have come across. Its not great like some of the places I've eaten in NYC but it is better than the local alternatives. I think the Pad Thai is good and I like the Red Curry dishes. So if you are within a reasonable drive give it a shot. I prefer to do takeout. The restaurant is nice enough but so empty that I feel uncomfortable sitting there. If you call for takeout don't be discouraged if you get a phone disconnected message or something like that. They don't seem to answer the phone very promptly and I often have to call back. Once you get through the food will be ready as promised. read more

Had been here once for lunch before and liked the decor, food and service - big plus it is a local eatery. Went back for dinner on Valentine's Day - did not want to go to Boston so decided to go local. Big fail on service! Had requested meals with special preferences - the place was busy with most tables occupied and take out orders too. There was one waitress trying to cover everything - two others dealing with take out and bringing food. We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes with no dinner - we had to remind our very nice and very apologetic waitress 3 times for a glass of wine which we got after our soup after 1 hour of being seated. People who came later got served before us - after we inquired about when we would get our dinner, a waitress(who did not take our initial order with allergy info etc) brought us food which had been placed for 5 minutes at a neighboring table - no enquiry if it was the right order. When we refused the food the waitress who brought us the food tried to take our order again! By this time we were not so sure what would be brought to our table - we requested our check for the soup and wine and decided to leave. After we had signed for our check one of the waitresses brought a dish to the table! We refused it, and left. Felt bad for waitress who was a very apologetic - everyone can understand being short staffed if employees call in sick - but there was no Manager or senior person who apologized or offered to rectify the situation in any way! There is no excuse for such bad service! Sorry, will not be visiting again. read more

Thai food is one of my favorites. Even so, I really don't go to Krua Khun Yah very often. I was there tonight, and I have to say, my search for a really good Pad Thai continues. In the past I found that the curries were OK (just OK) with decent flavor. Generally speaking the vegetables were chopped too big (so that they had to be cut with a knife before being eaten), but potatoes would have dark spots in it. So there was some sloppy cookery going on. Now, I understand that they've got new management, so hopefully that has changed. Also, the portion sizes were relatively small for the price. Tonight, I had Pad Thai and Crispy Chicken Basil. The Pad Thai was a bit lifeless, although a little sweet. The chicken was plain and bland. The crispy chicken basil got its crispiness from having been in the fry-o-lator a little too long. It needed a bit more basil as well. I will say this: the mai tai was perfect. Lastly, the decor is really, really dated. My recollection is a bit off as to what era that stuff is from, but I'm going to say....early 90s? I have to say that the restaurant (and the mens room) was very very clean. I think Kash said it well...it's the only Thai place around. Nothing awesome. Above average thai food. I love the yellow curry. They no longer have their lunch buffet, but since the food is very good, it is still worth stopping in. We do delivery from here all the time. The food always has the right amount of spice and is packed with flavor. We do a lot of take out from here and they always get the order right. Also, there delivery is super quick usually arriving within 25 minutes. We will continue to eat here regularly. read more

I've been to Krua Khun Yah a handful of times for take out. The staff is always friendly and my order is always cooked to order. My recently I ordered the Pad See You and the Spring Rolls. Food is good. But service is horrible! Especially the take out. Twice we placed an order and had to wait an additional 45 minutes before it was ready. Then they made a mistake and we had to bring it back. The second time, we waited even longer. I wish it would improve in this because customer service is really important to us. This is probably the best asian food in ashland/holliston. Which is not saying much... but its still good! Promise! They have really good specials, and I have enjoyed everything ive gotten here. OK first let me say that this is one of the best Thai restaruants I have been to and I actively go out of my way to find good Thai food. Its location is tough to find but it is worth the trip. I have been going here for about 3 years now. They have great Pad Thai, many differnt types of curry and stir fry meals, sticky rice deseart is great and the people/service are wonderful, quiet but very attentive I have to write this though, last night I went with my family to dinner and I guess there was a problem with the bill because today the owner actually drove to my place of work (we order deliver from them some times) and handed me back the $17 overbillage. I am still dumbfound that in this day in age that a restaurant owner would take the effort of find me, driving out to me and hand me back the money. Gold star for ethics. Excellent place. We have tried Thai places all over US. This is one of the best Thai places I have been to. Tastes like homemade very much like home made Thai food. Must try the Tom yum volcano soup. Don't let the lack of customer's sway you. The food is quite good. These folks are really giving it their best shot in an area that just can't seem to support good Asian cuisine other than those awful all you can eat chinese buffets. Excellent dishes include the delicious Crispy Basil Chicken, Mango Fried Rice, Pad See Yu Beef and of course, a well made Pad Thai.
