This was my fourth time visiting this restaurant and I have yet to be disappointed. I had the Blue Gruyere Burger the first time and it was one of the best burgers I've ever tasted (and I am a PICKY eater). I had the mozzarella sticks which actually came out looking like a large fish filet but I am not complaining; it was delicious and the perfect late night eat. I had their Kruger burger during burger week and when they say simplicity is just as good, it's true, especially with this burger. Last night I had the appetizer Hot Beer Cheese with pretzels, a side of fries with aioli dipping sauce, and the house white wine. I felt leaving satisfied and full! We've been eating our way through OTR and not disappointed. We got to Krueger's Tavern shortly after they opened on a Sunday morning so things were pretty quiet. Great music plays over the speakers. We sat upstairs. We got drinks - Prosecco and "Gin and Juice". My husband really liked the Gin and Juice - Try one!! We started with the pretzels served with beer cheese - yum yum!! What a great way to start the day. There was enough for 2 more people, but we still finished every bite. My husband enjoyed his Chicago burger. I got the Cranberry salad with the asparagus on the side. The waitress had recommended the side - great recommendation. Good food. Nice comfortable indoor seating. Service was ok. Appetizers were ok, I got Oysters Rockefeller and my wife got pesto and toast which kinda tasted like bruschetta. Both were good, not great. Truffle fries were the bomb, absolutely delicious. Sandwiches were ok at best, I got the pork shoulder and my wife got the grilled cheese. What a shame. First let me just say the best part of our meal was Alyssa. So sweet and an amazing server. The food however...Kruegers what have you done. You had the BEST Mac and cheese and you decided to replace it with a cheap, bitter and horrible replacement. Why??? The toast was dry, club sandwich was drier than the Sahara. burgers were meh. We were just here and it seems like maybe the chefs changed or something. You should fix it because it would be a shame to lose customers over these changes in the food quality. Lesson here: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Also, if a manager is asked to come to the table, then it's only nice to stop by and see what's up. read more

I loved it! My buddies and I stopped in for a Saturday dinner and were very impressed. Get a reservation because this place does get crowded. We tried the tomato pesto jar, hot beer cheese and their burgers. All were yum. I'd recommend the chicken parm and the veggie burger. Drinks were decent too. So Kruegers is back. I've actually never been but we've tried in the past at previous location. Nice location, nice decor albeit a bit smaller inside than I'd imagined? Got there around 8p, short wait, seated in back right at a bench/chair combo table and immediately noticed that the tables were stupid light and slid around like they were on ice? If the owners are reading this, maybe add some padding on bottom to fix this? Our server(Taylor iirc?) was super nice and attentive. We had questions, she answered them with no hesitation and knew the drinks and menu offerings very well. We ordered the Charred Veggie Crudite as a starter. Fancy words for grilled veggies that have been chilled and plated up with a side of tzatziki dip. I loved the carrots and Brussels sprouts. We ordered the Krueger's and Blue Gruyere burgers, a side of fries with vinegar aioli and the simple kale salad. I am telling you now, I am normally not a fan of kale but this salad was incredibly tasty. Fries were tasty but a bit undercooked and cold by the time they were delivered. The burgers were pretty tasty as well but the salad stole the show for me. Taylor was attentive during our entire stay here. Will we go back? I'd say so, but it will be for special occasions as it's a bit of a drive for us and a little out of our ordinary spending limit. read more

Visiting from Indy with my family and stopped by Krueger's for lunch and had the best time. Michael was so friendly, made some great recommendations and made our first time really special. Nice atmosphere I ordered a regular hamburger with ketchup & bacon and fries, nothing special. I also ordered an alcoholic drink called the Matacumbe. It was pretty strong but not too much to where I couldn't drink it. It was a mix of rums. It was pretty expensive for just a plain basic burger so that would be my only complaint. Best veggie burger in Cincinnati, hands down! Krueger's Tavern is one of my favorite places to eat in OTR, especially when the weather is nice. The upstairs patio is beautiful, with string lights, high top bar seating and a gorgeous view of the neighborhood. Getting a drink after a long day and watching the sun set from here is one of the best parts of the summer for me. Of course, I ordered the veggie burger, and it was amazing per usual. It's a hand-packed beet patty, with pesto mayo, cheese and greens. I got the greens on the side, with a side of fries. The burger is crispy on the outside, and perfectly soft on the inside. The flavors are incredible, all complimenting each other perfectly to create this heaven in your mouth. We also got tall boys of Coors, which were only $4! What a steal! We waited about 10 minutes for a table outside on the patio, and it was well worth it. While you wait, you can have a drink at the bar downstairs. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Every single thing on the menu is amazing, from drinks to burgers to appetizers and sides. Prices are very reasonable and service was great. The space was also very clean and staff was welcoming. As I begin this review I'm reminded of the Ricky Nelson lyrics from years ago, "I'm a traveling man, made a lot of stops, all over the world." Kreuger's Tavern was one more (specifically selected) Port 'o Call on my never ending journey to find the best burgers and brews... and so much more. I was initially attracted by the information on their website stating: "We set our standards to old world expectations. Bringing it back to a simpler time -- we grind our meats in house every day, blend them into burgers and sausages, and then serve them with craft beer and spirits." Now who could argue with that philosophy? While we came for the burgers, we started with a crunchy and creamy app: Sauerkraut balls. Crispy on the outside and piquant-creaminess on the inside. We should have ordered a double batch - they were that good. Then the burgers: we were both pleased, me with my double stacked patties, thinly sliced genoa salami, provolone (one of my all-time favorite burger cheeses), pesto mayo, tomato aioli, onion, and fresh mixed greens on a challah bun. What a flavor-packed combo; simply irresistible! My chili-head son-in-law and restaurant adventurer chose the Spicy - double patty, ghost pepper jack cheese, topped with spicy homemade pickles, chipotle habanero slaw (would have been almost as good as a side dish) served on a challah bun. Dynamic and delectable. Our sides were fine, especially my fries that had just the right crispy-tenderness and subtle flavors of a light drizzle of vinegar. (Throwback to my stock-car racetrack forays many, many moons ago.) The one little bleep in our plan was that we found only canned craft brews here. (They do have a small double tap with veritable nondescript brews). BUT...the can selection is admirable and they run some "bucket of cans" specials I haven't seen before. The remainder of the menu and bar offerings are something that I'd love to return to continue sampling. But so many more bars await on my journey around the US and the world, that I must keep traveling on. read more

Came here after the Reds game. First time here. I will say that we entered the wrong door and ended up in the restaurant next door. They said it happens all the time. So after we were in the right place they seated us and our waiter came over to greet us. We did not sit outside so I cannot describe the rooftop dining, maybe next time. I ordered the whiskey punch and he had a canned brown ale. I thought that whiskey punch was a little weak and watery I will not order it again. We had the pretzel bread and cheese to dip it in. We also had albondigas off of their seasonal menu. We ate these as appetizers. Both of them were good. We ordered the Krueger's Burger and the Bacon. In our opinion this was the best part of our meal. The burgers were juicy, tender, messy, just like a good burger should be! I visited this establishment for lunch recently & was pleasantly surprised! It seemed small from the outside, but has an upstairs area which is where we sat. We got pretzels & beer cheese as an appetizer which was excellent! My son & husband got the burger & said it was great! I got the chicken salad. The chicken was obviously hand breaded & delicious. They gave me their house made buttermilk ranch for my dressing & it was awesome! Food was great! Well, appetizers. Service was horrendous. We sat at the bar, where service anywhere else is AMAZING... and service was atrocious. We were given water and menus about 20 minutes after we sat down. Okay. There was one bartender and the well was busy. Eventually we got to order wine and appetizers. Both came relatively quickly, but our bartender didn't even look our direction for an hour after we placed our food order. At this point there were two of them. They were both on the opposite end of the bar. They came over to our area to grab alcohol and didn't respond to any "ma'am" or "sir" or "excuse me" for their attention. Our water and wine both ran dry and sat that way for 25 minutes. Eventually, after we finished our appetizers and waited for a while, we were finally checked on. We rarely get to come home to Cincy (we have been in Vegas for over 10 years) and when we do we usually stick to our old favorites (Skyline, Ruby's, Boathouse) but we ventured outside of our comfort zone and tried a new spot for us... and we are so happy we did! We had the sauerkraut balls (amazing, I want the recipe), the simple kale side (also surprisingly delicious for being simply kale), and the house burger but with spicy cheese (the bartender's pro tip!) The bartender was great! Friendly and good with describing the menu. Prices were great! We didn't come during happy hour. The service was great! Not too chatty but attentive. The ambience was great! Not too noisy, we could chat. Not to crowded, we had plenty of room while we dined at the bar. Tasty food and great service during our visit. We sat in the outside upstairs deck area as the inside seemed very loud. We did sit in the sun but it wasn't horribly hot that day so we were ok. Would not have wanted to sit here - no umbrella - on a hot day. We did ask to sit in another location under an umbrella but were told it was reserved. Not sure what time that reservation was for as no one arrived the entire hour we spent there and not there by the time we left - this is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. The sauerkraut balls are a must. Super yummy and besides, it is a German place! We also had a burger and truffle fries. Way yummy burger, fries were plain. So excited this spot has reopened!! Very cool interior - lots of dark wood and emerald leather booths that make it feel cozy. Food was all fabulous. I had the beet salad + chicken (confirmed gluten free). The beets were roasted to perfection, on a bed of quark cheese (which I've never had before - it's almost like ricotta, but turns out it's a very healthy, low fat cheese!), sprinkled with pistachios and arugula. Light on the greens, but still delicious. My friends each had the veggie burger (so good that it's the reason she picked Krueger's for our dinner, but sadly the patty is not gf) and the chicken parm sandwich (9.5/10, which is basically a perfect score in this guy's book). Unfortunately we have been consistently disappointed in quality of food- dry and thin burgers (used to be good at old location) with cheese that is.
