TLDR; Alright drinks, alright flavor, okay boba, hole in the wall vibes but not necessarily in the best way. Not horrible, just not memorable or return-worthy for me. Went to this location, and it was just meh. One of my favorite boba spots is actually a spot in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles called "Sunright Tea Boba" and it's more or less a frame of reference when I try different Boba spots. The location can be easy to miss due to the scaffolding hiding the signage. The inside is just one of those get in & get out type vibes, and honestly the drinks were just mad plain. The customer service I received was friendly, and I really can't complain on that front though. This spot just gives me the vibe of "We're established and not going anywhere" so they just do what they need to make ends meet. I think KFT is one of the better bubble tea shops in NYC compared to many other ones. Their bubbles are always made perfectly (chewy and not undercooked/overcooked) and they've got a lot of good drink options. The only downside is that they have $5 card minimum. Though I'm an avid Yelper and foodie, I find that generally when I find good things at a place, I will stick to ordering that. Don't get me wrong. I love bubble tea and I think Kung Fu Tea has really great options for different kinds of teas (the passionfruit green tea is a good choice if you're not feeling the milk tea). However, like most franchises that open up on NYU's campus, this Kung Fu Tea pales in comparison to all the other ones I have gone to. The one in the East Village (10th Street and 1st Ave) is so much better. I had a pretty bad experience my first time here. One of my favorite things about Kung Fu Tea is that you have the option to have 70% or 50% sugar (most of their drinks are too sweet for me). HOWEVER, when I said 50% sugar for one of my drinks, it tasted like she thought I said 5% sugar because it was not sweet AT ALL. I thought I would give it another try a week later because maybe they were having a bad day - it happens, I get it. NOPE! I went with my friend who got 50% sugar and she said it wasn't sweet (proof that my first experience wasn't just an off day - they actually just cheap out on the sugar).
