Brown sugar boba + pearl milk with cream mousse, golden oolong tea with boba, 2 cream puffs
    Sammi K.

I've had tiger sugar before at another location so I know any brown sugar drink from here is going to be sweet. This time around, I ordered with less sugar and it was still a bit too sweet for my liking but bearable. Boba was soft and chewy and I love that they don't charge extra for lactose-free milk or milk alternatives! There was also a deal on their kiosk where you could get a free golden oolong tea if you ordered $10+ so I ordered my brown sugar boba milk and 2 cream puffs. I gave those to my friend so I can't speak to those. I took a point off for the girl behind the counter. She seemed like she hated her job. I went up to her when I got a text saying my order was ready. I stood at the counter waiting for her to look at me but she just kept doing her thing and pretty much ignored my existence. I showed her my phone telling her my ordering number and she just stood there without a smile. I saw the order on the counter so I just took it. Customer service is important for any restaurant/shop and just that encounter alone will deter me from coming back.

It's a nice place to get a drink in Chinatown. We had a black sugar drink and cream puffs. The cream puff was surprisingly good. I liked how it was made with a crunchy layer and filled with tasty cream. I would definitely return if I go to Chinatown again. Service was quick and friendly. The ambiance is a small shop with some benches but no tables.

The boba itself is decent. Tiger Sugar is generally on the much sweeter side for boba so have to pick low sugar or it feels excessively sweet. I went during CNY so it was very crowded with a long wait after ordering. There isn't really much seating in the store so everyone was just crowding around waiting for their drink. There is also a dessert store within the same building so if you can grab a table, you can have yourself a nice date but that is about it.

Milk tea boba served hot or cold. You order from a kiosk. I got the brown sugar hot. It was smooth and creamy. The flavors blended well . Great drinks to quickly pick up and go.

Brown Sugar Milk Tea with Oat Milk

So many of my New York friends were raving about Tiger Sugar as having some of the best boba in town. I've had them before in the Bay Area but figured I'd stop by to remind myself why they are so good. Simply put - the boba here is definitely some of the best you'll ever have. By that, I mean the actual tapioca pearls. They were soft, chewy, and sugary enough to even be great on its own. For my drink itself, you can't go wrong with a classic Brown Sugar Milk Tea. They offer Oatly as a non-dairy milk option which was perfect for me. You order at the kiosk and the drink comes out very quickly. You really can't go wrong with Tiger Sugar no matter where in the world.

I first tried Tiger Sugar during a pickup event and I fell in love with their bevvies. I like the fact that you can adjust the sweetness level, as I am not one who regularly enjoys overly sweet drinks or desserts. They have an efficient system, with a counter or kiosks from which to order, making customer turnaround time pretty decent. They don't have much space but they did manage to set up ample temporary seating, but be prepared to have a booty in your face, or someone in your personal space. If you're like you, you'll probably just order and leave. I ordered at the kiosk and waited. My order took about five minutes before it was ready. The guy at the counter wasn't very friendly. I ordered four drinks and he called out my number and just left them on the counter. I had to ask for a bag. I'm not sure how many arms he thought I had but I'm used to either being given a bag or asked if I would like one. He seemed annoyed that I asked for a bag. It was a weird encounter, but nevertheless, my family and I enjoyed the drinks. I went with the brown sugar matcha latte with boba and cream mousse, and my son got the brown sugar boba and pearl with tiger jelly and cream mousse. I got their brown sugar boba and pearl coffee latte for hubbs because he loves iced coffee, and I got my Little their boba with chocolate chips, which she liked. I haven't had their boba drinks in some time but I can say that I've tasted better at lesser known places. Tiger Sugar has a following so I'm sure they'll be around for the duration.

This was my first time trying Tiger Sugar, though I've known about it for a few years. Since they're known for their brown sugar drinks, I decided to try the one with tapioca pearls, coffee jelly, and foam on top. I got 30 percent sugar and thought it was the perfect sweetness level. I was also surprised how much I enjoyed this drink as someone who always gets milk tea and never just milk. I will say the syrup does taste like molasses, which took some getting used to for me. Overall, yummy drinks, but keep in mind the interior is very small and there are only so many seats + no bathroom so it's more of a to-go place.

##5. Brown Sugar Boba Pudding Milk w. Cream Mousse
    Jess W.

I have had this 6 times. We got the #5: pudding, boba, cream, and brown sugar. With Oat milk. Large. $8. Wait is always a little longer. Albeit 0 tea, the liquid (milk) is tasty. The signature drinks are brown sugar milk drinks and NOT milk tea. Price is high if you just think about it as milk and no tea. Boba is too soft. Highly recommend the LESS sugar. The regular is TOO sweet IMHO.

I really like this spot! I usually get their well-known brown sugar milk tea with boba, and it's delicious. Last time I got their fresh taro with boba drink and that was alright, the taro plus boba combo didn't really hit the spot and it was slightly strange haha (even though the texture was good). Would definitely come back.

Tiger sugar never disappoints. Bobas were soft, chewy, and sugary. My Brown Sugar Caf Latte & Cream Mousse was creamy and had a strong coffee flavor.

(Mango Sago: 67.5% | D) - This drink actually tastes quite nice, translating a classic dessert into boba. Unfortunately, there are several technical problems with this drink: first, the toppings make up 50% of the cup, and ice makes up another 25%, leaving only 25% for the actual drink.. the toppings need to be reduced to make room for a better balance; and second, the paper straw here is not designed to be sharp enough to pierce through the plastic of the cup, which seems to be of stronger quality than other places.. furthermore.. the straw has poor suction power and makes consumption of the drink difficult. (Overall: 75% | C) - The actual restaurant itself is spacious and has good decoration, including this massive plush tiger for good photos!

Usual tiger sugar franchise with the great taste and bobas.. I really enjoy the tiger coffee bubble tea and the chocolate malt bubble tea Location is in the super crowded China town on canal street main road

Came here to pick up my Elite Perk :) They have really great boba tea!! I'm not a big caffeine consumer and have usually found boba teas to be a little too strong and not sweet enough for my taste but absolutely LOVED my tea here!! The drink is smooth, just sweet enough with plenty of texture coming from the boba and the tiger jelly. The boba is perfectly chewy but I found the jelly to be mostly flavorless. It's also great visually with the 'stripes'. The place has kiosks you order from and then pick up the drink from the counter. For someone that rarely drinks coffee or tea, I honestly really enjoyed my drink and am looking forward to my next time there!

    Is there lactose-free milk?

Unfortunately we do not have lactose free options at this time but we will in the near future. Thank you

Is Yelp the only platform where I can order for pickup? It looks like postmates, grubhub, seamless, etc. only offer delivery. Can someone confirm?

Yelp is one of the many platforms that offer pick-up. On other platforms such as postmates, you need to select the "Pickup" option.

Confirming that "pearl" is standard size regular tapioca and "boba" is the smaller one... followed the reply I got on my review and got small tapioca?

Hey Jenna, to answer your question, boba is the standard size and pearls are the smaller one. Hope that helps!

So they have vegan milks, like coconut or oat?

Sadly, they don't. I've only seen them use the Horizon Organic whole milk. No non dairy alternatives

It's $25 for unlimited drinks plus food by the way. Which is sad is a deal these days. Anyway, their happy hour is solid enough for a Monday and was meeting up with a friend I hadn't seen in over a year. Place is actually very cute. There are no tvs which I appreciate and the paneling of the walls and decor with all the flowers is quite tasteful. Happy hour deals 4-7pm Mon-Fri & all night Thursday apparently: Aperol Spritz $8, Hugo Spritz $9, Paloma $10, Mules $9, Draft Beers (except Guinness) $7, House Wine $9. As well as 2 Appetizer Bites for $19.95. Not the best but not the worst. I'm normally not a Spritz kind of gal. I think watering down prosecco or wine is heinous. But it was a Monday and I didn't exactly feel like powering down into happy hour so Aperol Spritz it was which switched to a Modelo later. It was the perfect drink situation on a god awful hot as hell day. We also ordered the fish tacos and what initially were the curry fries but they brought out the Greek fries. I wasn't mad about it. Honestly was torn between the two and I don't send food back unless something really bad happened. But it was essentially a side of Caesar salad dressing with feta cheese and generous amount of herbs on a very sparse and frugal amount of crispy standard cut fries. Now I know why it's a 2 for $20 deal. The tacos were 3 in an order which I guess is typical. They weren't bad but nothing stood out to me. I'd come for the drinks or try something else on the menu.

So we went in and what caught my eye was a mango shaved ice with mangoes, mochi, strawberries, and condensed milk, however I was over ruled by my wife and we went with the black sesame and mochi and condensed milk. It also had red bean, but that had to be on the side, since that gives me gout. Such nice staff taking orders and we went into the dining area to find a seat. The vibe inside is so cool, chill hip hop music playing throughout and I genuinely added about five songs to my music library before we even finished eating. That kind of atmosphere is hard to find. The waffle was not your average waffle, it had this wheat cinnamon style to it that made it stand out, soft, fluffy and absolutely delicious. It came with butter and what I believe was an herb butter as well and whatever it was it was incredible. My fiancé ordered eggs Andy style, scrambled with bacon and toast, and the real standout on his plate were the potatoes. This one honestly hurt my heart…read more.. Y'all... this review hurts my heart to write because I am a Sweet Chick fan. Not a "I tried it once" fan. A real fan. I've been going to Sweet Chick since there was only one location in Brooklyn. I was literally traveling from Jersey to Brooklyn just for the food, the drinks, and the experience, and I never minded doing it because it was always worth it. So when they opened the Ludlow Street location, I was excited because now I didn't have to make the trip to Brooklyn every time I wanted my chicken and waffles. Back then, Sweet Chick was an experience. They had the big specials board with rotating waffles, desserts, and seasonal items. Their chicken and waffles never missed. I honestly can't remember ever leaving disappointed. So this review is really hard for me. Back on June 26th, after work, my mom and I decided to grab dinner. I work in the LES, and she suggested Sweet Chick. I did tell her my brother Robert had gone recently and said it had changed a lot, but we figured we'd see for ourselves. We got there around 9-ish. The first thing we noticed... It was HOT. Not warm. Hot. Like, "why does it feel like a sauna in here?" hot. We've had enough hot weather this summer, so walking into a restaurant with little to no air conditioning was honestly uncomfortable. We actually debated leaving before we even ordered, but decided to stick it out. Unfortunately... it never got better. The service also wasn't what I remembered. I'm really big on customer service, and Sweet Chick has always had amazing service whenever I've gone. This time it just felt different. The attentiveness wasn't there, and the overall vibe just felt... off. Even the menu has changed. My mom used to love their kale salad, but now it's made differently with things like dates, and she wasn't interested in it anymore. For drinks, my mom ordered an espresso martini, and unfortunately she really didn't enjoy it. It was pretty bitter, and we couldn't quite figure out what was off about it. If I'm ordering an espresso martini, I have certain expectations, and this one just didn't hit for her. I ordered the Queen of New York, and I actually really enjoyed my drink. No complaints there. Now... the food. I ordered the Maple Chipotle Chicken & Sweet Potato Waffle. And this is where my heart really broke. Years ago, when they first introduced the sweet potato waffle as a special, I remember it actually tasting like sweet potato. This one... Honestly just tasted like a regular waffle. I kept looking for that sweet potato flavor, and it just wasn't there. The chicken itself was crispy and cooked well, but the maple chipotle sauce wasn't evenly coated. Some bites were really good, while other pieces were dry because they barely had any sauce on them. Another thing longtime Sweet Chick fans might notice is the butter service. I remember getting three or four different flavored butters, each in their own little container. This time we got two flavors together in one cup. It's a small thing, but it was one of those details that always made Sweet Chick feel special. My mom ordered the Carolina BBQ Chicken with the Grilled Corn Waffle. I'll be fair--her waffle absolutely tasted like a corn waffle. I tried it, and it was really good. She enjoyed her meal more than I did, although she also had a few pieces of chicken that weren't evenly coated with sauce and were a little dry. Overall, she thought it was okay. And I think that's really the word for this visit. Okay. Not terrible. But not the Sweet Chick we remembered. Maybe that's why this visit hit me so hard. When you've loved a place for years, you naturally compare it to what you know it can be. I genuinely hope this was just an off night because I have so many great memories here, and I'd honestly love to come back one day and have the Sweet Chick experience that made me fall in love with it in the first place. Because this restaurant has meant a lot to me over the years, and I'm rooting for it. I really am.

It was way too hot and crowded inside for us to wait, so they told us we could just come back in 20 minutes to check on our spot. I wish they had a call list or a texting service to let us know when we were up. We came back at the 20 minute mark and thankfully were seated pretty quickly after that. Thankfully the dining area was cooler than the waiting area. For food I got The Smash and added a poached egg. My bf got the breakfast burrito (he would have gotten the eggs Benedict, but it didn't look like they had Cholula). I had read reviews that this was the best avocado toast in NY, but it was maybe my least favorite of the few I tried! Could just be me, but it had more of an acidic flavor than I like. My last bite was also a mouthful of feta which I had thought was egg lol, it was honestly hard for me to get down. My bf's breakfast burrito was maybe the smallest he's ever had, but it tasted decent. 5/5 for service, and the ambiance (though hot) was cute. I'd be tempted to give them another try because of how good the reviews are, but I wouldn't get their avocado toast again.

Best way put, there's a ton of personality on the inside. As for the food...everything was very very good. We got the waffle sandwich, Belgian waffle, caviar & steamed eggs, and a few croissants...Top to bottom everything was very good. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience of it all. Side note...add the croissant to your order...

Village eateries helmed by power-chef duo Jody Williams and Rita Sodi; four are within a block of each other. I passed the other three (Bar Pisellino, Via Carota, I Sodi) on my way and all had lines out the door. Carota and Sodi are Italian, Buvette is French. There are 2 other Buvettes in Asia and one coming soon in London. Buvette does not do reservations. Buvette is a charming but tiny/cramped space, made more tiny within the last year by NYC's removal of pandemic-era street patios which greatly helped dining capacity. Buvette may sometimes have a few front sidewalk tables, and there's a tiny outdoor patio in the back. The tables and dishware are also tiny. There's a kitchen in the back, but some food is also prepared below the bar in front, where there seem to be some ovens. The food seems reliably consistent here. The menu is short but there are daily specials. I ordered a non-alcoholic ginger soda, crab tartine (a special), lobster a l'Americaine (lobster pot pie) and frites. The soda is always on the menu and is refreshing, with a nice snap of ginger. The crab tartine was fab, a fresh crab salad with avocado atop toast. The lobster pot pie was made in the under-bar oven, a small serving of lobster and veggies with a golden puff pastry topper. Delish. The frites were nicely crisp, served with an aioli. Service was okay, but my hot food took about 45 minutes to come out, apparently because my ticket was lost. Overall a pleasant meal, my first during this visit.

My go to is the Liège waffle with strawberries, speculoos, and fudge, and it is out of this world. My WMD was loaded just right--fudge, whipped cream, bananas, and strawberries--everything you want, nothing missing. Her S'mores waffle had the whipped cream, graham cracker, and chocolate, and it was just as good. We were both very, very happy.
