    Food stand at farmers market.

Kunugi Noodle sells many varieties of Udon noodles, they also have tempera shrimp, inari sushi. they're here at the foster city farmers market saturdays till 1:30 eats: 1 piece tempera shrimp (2) -nice thin breading of panko crumbs on the outside. slightly oily -juicy tender piece of shrimp within the panko crumbs. was planning to eat elsewhere initially. that's why ate only 1 tempera shrimp. many other food vendors also here.

Super yummy beef udon and inari sushi! Have always wanted to try this place from the Foster City Famer's Market. The broth for the udon is really tasty and comforting. There's a slight sweetness which conpliments how savory it is. The beef is tender and has a great bite and adds great flavor. The udon noodles are a satisfyingly chewy. The inari sushi rice is a nice appetizer to snack on while your udon is being made!

    Udon time!

Delicious cue cue udon noodles with green onion and kake broth. We ordered their most basic version because it was our first time trying them out. However, if you're a chicken, beef, or shrimp tempura fan, there are definitely more expansive menu options for you. They also have pairings with some other menu items too. We'll definitely return the next time we're in the area to try more of their options. The broth is light and savory without being too salty and the noodles have such a nice chew. I saw they also do online ordering, so if you want to skip the line, you can use Yelp or DoorDash to cut a few minutes off your wait time.

Wow, what a gem. What a find! Came here on a gorgeous sunny Saturday morning to discover homemade udon noodles in this pure, balanced, and flavorful clean broth with scallions and crispy, warm shrimp tempura. The udon and broth is so light and delicious, nothing like the oil-and-salt- heavy broth you sometimes get at restaurants. You can sit at a table while the kind owner/chef cooks next door. I cannot wait to try the other udon soups here and am yelling from the rooftops to friends and fam how great this spot is. Welcome to the neighborhood! 5 stars!!!!!!!!

Handmade udon noodles. They usually sell out before the 1pm closing time. You can taste the difference in the noodles chewy and light very different than the frozen ones. One man show. This isn't going to compete with a 100$ udon speciality restaurant in Tokyo. There are very few places where you can find fresh hand made soft/chewy noodles made to order in front of you. Hopefully the owner/chef hits it big. Chicken Udon: fresh hand made udon noodles in a soy sauce style broth + chicken thigh. Little salty like all Japanese food.. but good Different Japanese udon soups; everything is made on coleman type propane stoves in front of you in a tent. There is also a stir fried udon noodles and other hand made items like inari and shrimp tempura. The inari is made fresh; it doesn't have that canned slightly MSG sweet flavor you find in most Japense delis. Problem w/the togo orders is the udon soaks up the broth and the noodles turn mushy vs. chewy. Owner chef is from japan. He is makes the noodles before opening. Like the alley way noodles shops in Japan. One person trying to make a living. Insane amount of work for 1 person. Only 1 day per week on Sat only. 9am-1pm This is part of the farmers market every sat in the orchard supply parking lot. There is one costco type fold out table w 4 chairs on the side where you can sit and eat. You can eat there from a plastic bowl or take it to go. Look for the farmers market in the parking lot and walk the booths till you find him at the end

A very wholesome spot - you'll always see a small crowd waiting around this stall during the Foster City farmer's market, due to Jack's wonderful customer service and delicious food! Though him and his assistants are certainly busy keeping up with the many food orders, he always takes the time to say hi and is incredibly kind! Absolutely one of the highlights of the farmer's market. My bf and I have been regularly stopping by for a few years, and every single time, we have to get the shrimp tempura (it's seriously so good!!). You also can't go wrong with the udon or yakisoba. Full of flavor and tasty! I'd recommend placing your order first and then walking around the rest of the market while you wait :) Enjoy!!

Shiritaki wakame (zero cal yam noodle and seaweed) with tempura prawn
    Nathan T.

Coming here for awhile. Always enjoy the soups and the nice chef; it's become a new Saturday AM ritual. We like the shiritaki wakame soup as it's filling and almost zero calories, will keep you going all morning. Throw in a few tempura shrimp for kicks. Disregard the karens in the other comments whining about bags and Doordash, or the weather, or whatever else peed on their rug; it's immaterial. Soups come in a container for take-out, you won't get cooties. My only issue is by the time we get home, it can be a bit cooled off, so we nuke in the microwave for 1 minute and it's smooth sailing. Bonus: you might get a couple Hi-Chew in the take-out for dessert.

    Perfect Shelter In Place takeout!!!!
    Nate K.

Probably the best udon in the Bay Area! Souper simple beef broth and amazing curry dishes. Whether rain or shine, this small stand at the end of the Foster City farmers market is the perfect Saturday morning spot to satisfy your noodle addiction or a great spot to grab and go, as we are all sheltering in place these days.

Everything we ordered was absolutely scrumptious and worth the price. Our favorites were the Crunchy Lobster Roll, packed with lobster salad, salmon, avocado & cucumber, tobiko, and topped with crunchy flakes and house sauce (a fresh roll) and the Wagyu & Sea Roll, which combined shrimp tempura, cream cheese, avocado, and seared Kobe beef (a cooked roll)! Super rich and satisfying!! The Scallop Butter Yaki was also delicious, with very tender and naturally sweet scallops and seared mushrooms in house-made butter sauce. We also ordered Oyster Shooter, a good combination of oyster, ikura, quail egg, ponzu sauce, and sake. Shot was not too strong but very well combined! The highlight of our meal was definitely Beef Tongue Skewer (a daily special). We're very impressed, as the skewer was incredibly tender, fresh, and melted in our mouths. We paired everything with a Sho Chiku Bai Nigori sake, which is soooo warm and comforting, complemented our meal nicely. Service was very quick, and the staff was very attentive throughout our visit. Overall, a wonderful dining experience! This is my 2nd time here and and I'll definitely be back for more.

I will say that at peak hours with every table talking, it was really hard to hear what my friends were saying from across the table. Food was pricy, but good! We ordered: Omakase sashimi box - this was almost $70 and included two slices of multiple types of fish in a 3x3 square wood box. I feel like this was fine - nothing really stood out to me. Sunset roll - the cucumber wrap (seaweed substitute) really overpowered any fish that was in the middle. Chicken karaage - meaty, juicy! Order it! Ribeye bites with shaved daikon - this was fine, I wouldn't order again Bacon wrapped mochi skewer - good, but not worth the $4 (!!!) Pork belly skewer - fine, not worth the $ Tempura - good crisp and light Service was OK. It was difficult to get anyone's attention for the check even if the restaurant itself was pretty small. Overall, good time spent with friends, and my raw fish craving was satisfied.

Today I was able to meet my friend here for lunch and since it was a weekday we got a table right away at noon. To our pleasant surprise there was a lunch special offered at the back of the menu. The decor is cute with many lucky cats near the entrance and around the sushi bar. Near the back there is a huge display kawaii, anime and robotech figures. I can see kids enjoying looking at them. Looks like they have a private room option that is narrow and long with many 2 seater table side by side, maybe they open it up when they get busy. They have a parking lot that can exit through the back is what my friend told me but I found street which has a 2 hour limit. I saw a car with a parking ticket so I'm guessing they do enforce it. The bento box comes with rice, salad, and miso soup. Everything was good. The sushi was fresh and tender, and they gave me cooked shrimp, salmon, and 3 that I couldn't identify. The salad was good, too, with a creamy dressing that maybe had some sesame paste in it. The amount of dressing was about right, maybe just a touch more than ideal for me, but they were pretty light-handed with it overall. The miso soup and avocado maki were good. The avocado maki had more avocado in proportion to rice than other places, so that was nice. 3. Mochi ice cream, strawberry. This was pretty good. About average, I guess. 4. Yuzu cheesecake. Nice citrus flavor. I know Japanese cheesecakes are airier/lighter than American cheesecakes, but I thought they are usually a bit more creamy than this one. This one was more like a regular cake. It was good, though. Overall a good, casual place I'd be glad to return to for Japanese food. Service was good, although there were only two servers while we were there, and so sometimes it could be a bit slow. There were two TV screen showing sports. There is a small parking lot, or you can park on a nearby street.

The space itself is small, intimate, and quaint, making it a cozy spot for some skewers and drinks. I ordered a large bottle of Sapporo and greatly appreciated that it came with a chilled glass. The tako wasabi was also good and is one of my favorite things to pair with an ice-cold beer. The mentaiko udon was satisfying, although I thought it tasted much more like kimchi than mentaiko. Luckily, I enjoy kimchi, so I still liked the dish, but it might be disappointing for anyone expecting that richer, briny mentaiko flavor to come through. I'd honestly consider renaming the dish or making the description a little clearer to avoid confusion. The skewers came out relatively quickly, and most were enjoyable, although there were definitely a few hits and misses. Surprisingly, the ribeye was tastier than the wagyu skewer, which leaned a little dry. The chicken skin was solid, though not quite as crispy as I've had elsewhere. The scallop was easily one of my favorites--it was tender, perfectly seasoned, and delicious. I would've happily ordered a few more if I had room. The tsukune, unfortunately, was pretty dry and plain, even after dipping it into the egg yolk, so that's one I'd probably skip next time. Overall, not every skewer was a winner, but there were enough standouts to make it a satisfying late-night meal. The cozy atmosphere, cold beer, quick service, and convenient late hours make this a spot I'd happily return to after a late flight. A solid 4/5 for me--although getting off a long and stressful flight may have made me a little more forgiving too, haha.
