First, this is not a "drop in" sushi place for the noisy American family of four. It's not a revolving sushi store. I'd recommend a reservation. It's also not an upscale, suit and tie, place. Come as you are. I'd just get the omakase. Chef's choice. You'll get a wide variety is fine sushi and you'll have a comfortable portion in your stomach. Hot house sake is great too or the plum wine. Dessert, house crème brûlée is great!! Service is great. If you want your server to be "warm and friendly" go to Denny's. Service is professional, knowledgeable and as attentive as you need. There is no constant checking in on your satisfaction. Thank god.

Kurisaki is a very good sushi restaurant in the South Bay. It tends to serve more traditional sushi (primarily nigiri and sashimi, with some very basic rolls and small cold and hot dishes). To me, it fills a spot between your higher end sushi places (like Sushi Inaba or Sushi Sonagi), your non-traditional omakase places (like Bar Sushi Hermosa), and your more Westernized places that offer lots of non-traditional rolls (like Flying Fin and Japonica). It's closest comparison is Sushi Chitose or even Sushi Nozomi (although both have larger menus). Food: The sushi is fresh and well prepared, albeit straightforward and typical. The size of the nigiri is smaller, but the fish to rice ratio is appropriate. Service: The service is friendly, but can sometimes be a little slow with a single server. Bottom Line: A solid sushi restaurant that serves good sushi. It doesn't have a large menu, and the food is relatively simple and straightforward. Again, it tends to be a more traditional sushi restaurant. Kurisaki does offer an omakase menu which was approximately $125 when I was last there. Some may think this expensive for what you get, but it is reasonable when you consider that many omakase menus now run in the high $200's and low $300's.

Coke float. This hit the spot and I definitely recommend!

The server, Carlitos, was attentive and friendly. I definitely recommend this place for their food, cleanliness and hospitality.

Kurisaki has grown to be my favorite for sushi restaurant in Southern California. Chef Kurisaki takes great care in the preparation and we tried his Omakase and each piece was carefully prepared and presented. Although he has trained at Matsuhisa his style is not similar. He presented sushi that is classic Japanese as if you are in Japan. The food kept coming out and we were very full afterwards and the price point was proper as well. His wife will seat you and be your server. He prepares and she serves. The food is delicious and top rate. Thank you Chef Kurisaki for creating a place for a delicious meal.

This is an incredible sushi place. The food is authentic, fresh, and a cut above other establishments. We tried Hokkaido Uni for the first time, and it's delicious! The service is friendly. The mood is clean and simple. Great for a date or small party when you want amazing food and don't want to feel rushed!

Excellent service. Small simple restaurant. Menu options limited. Mostly mainstream sushi items. Everything is fairly pricey for sushi but my wife thought tht execution was good for most dishes except the shrimp tempura. The battery didn't have a airy crisp. All in all they are good but not so good that I will say they are a must go. Parking available behind the restaurant.

Wow! Amazing 1. Staff My wife made reservations. As we walk in..."You won't be here more than an hour and a half?" Wtf? I beg your pardon!? Look, if I'm going to drop $200+ on dinner, I will decide how long I take. F you for stressing me out. So -1 star ( by the way, we left before the aforementioned time and the place was still empty) 2. Food Absolutely amazing! I lived in Yokohama and I've got to say that the sushi here is absolutely amazing! You pay a Premium but you get premium food! I can't say enough as how good it was! 3. Ambiance The sushi bar no longer allows folks at the bar. It's all table service The parking behind the restaurant is.... Weird. Not sure where I should have parked. The music is jazz. But did I mention the food? Dear heavens, mortgage your kids, go here ! The food is sublime. Amazing! We're it not for a snarky waitress it would be full stars and worth every penny! (And I speak Japanese, by the way, and still was put off by the staff!) This is my new go to sushi bar !

One of my favorites in the South Bay. First time trying this sushi restaurant and had the omakase. High quality fish and presentation was very nice. The restaurant has a nice casual vibe and service was excellent.

Our absolute favorite sushi restaurant in South Bay by far! It's not cheap... We only go on special occasions or on our date nights. We always get their sushi omakase. Every course is SUPERB and most if not all of their fish comes from Japan. Service is always excellent, each course is timed perfectly and the fish just melts in our mouth! There's parking in the back but space is limited. Street parking always works too~ The only negative is that we miss sitting at the bar... They got rid of the bar seating during Covid and never brought it back.. LAst time we visited, they said they weren't bringing it back..

Friendly staffs. Came here to have dinner with my girlfriends. Had some beer and hot sake. Good quality, fresh fish. Will def come back.

Chef that prepares food made our visit a horrible experience…read more I was dining with a guest. Ordered two chicken skewers, two veggie skewers, rice and miso soup. The Miso soup came out first. Five minutes later a bowl of rice came out. 3rd comes out one of the chicken skewers. I patiently waited for the remained of the food to come out so we can eat together. I look up and notice that the chef cooking the food was doing nothing and kept looking at me...as if I did something bad to him. I continued to wait. I kept noticing that the chef was doing nothing and kept giving me an evil look. I did not feed into the chef's evil antics. I notified the server (a young gentleman) that seated us, and mentioned that we were waiting on remaining food so we can eat together. Still no remaining food was delivered. I asked the (young lady server) and mentioned to her that we are still waiting. I did mention that I observed the restaurant was pretty empty and asked why my small table order would not come out together and mentioned that I felt the chef took it upon himself to have myself and my guest wait. By this time the double order of veggie skewers comes out (still waiting on my guest chicken skewer). Again the chef is giving me a mean mugging look again, like he decides when he is ready to give us our food. Finally, the 2nd chicken skewer (which is the last item) finally arrives. By this time, my first item (the 1st chicken skewer) is now cold. I ended up letting my server know that my 1st skewer was cold and to just send it back, by this time my appetite was ruined and the chicken was cold. After the server got a manager override, to take the first (cold) skewer off, it was taken off the bill. I ended up not eating and watched my guest eat their meal and we left. The servers were very apologetic. I let the servers know that it was not their fault, I advised that in the future it would be a good idea, to bring the proteins and veggies out together. Also I let the servers know that there was no excuse for the chef's behavior, since the restaurant was very slow. Nevertheless, I did leave a proper tip, because the servers should not have to suffer due to the chef behind kitchen was not properly doing his job and attending to the guest orders. I would recommend this place if the chef can pay attention and deliver orders in a complete manner and not piece out one item at a time...especially in this realistic situation aforementioned.

We arrived right at opening (5:15 PM) without a reservation. We were told we could sit if we left before 6:30 PM because of a later booking. Since we were just having a quick dinner (4 adults and 1 child), we agreed. However, the terrible hospitality started immediately when she forced our group of 5 into a tight 4-person booth, making us extremely uncomfortable. Throughout the meal, IYA made us feel incredibly unwelcome, constantly rushing us and giving us dirty looks. Even though we were well aware of the time, she aggressively pushed the dessert menu and called for "last call" at 6:00 PM just to kick us out faster. When we politely asked for extra broth, she snapped that there would be an extra charge with a terrible attitude, then literally slammed the dish down on our table. The absolute worst part was her handling of my Service Dog. As someone who legally requires a service animal, I had my dog right next to me. Without even asking if it was a registered service animal, IYA rudely and aggressively demanded that I put the dog on the floor. Her complete lack of education, empathy, and legal understanding regarding service animals is deeply concerning and discriminatory. The chefs are visible. The staff is plentiful. The music is good. The atmosphere feels like the kind of place that understands hospitality. Unfortunately, the experience never quite came together. The first challenge was the temperature. The dining room felt more like a sauna than a restaurant. To his credit, our server Arthur worked hard to help and eventually got management to increase the air conditioning. He was easily the standout of the evening and did everything he could to salvage the experience. We ordered extensively, including the $130 Ise Course. Some of it was quite good. Some of it was surprisingly disappointing. The grilled lobster with yuzu miso and kinome was completely overcooked, dry and buried under too much sauce. One of the signature dishes of the course ended up being one of the weakest. The grilled yellowtail suffered from the same problem: dry, overcooked and lacking the care you would expect from a restaurant presenting a seasonal multi course menu at this price point. The larger issue was organization. Dishes constantly arrived with servers asking, "Who ordered this?" or "Who has the udon?" The dining room felt strangely disconnected from the kitchen. Food runners seemed unsure where dishes belonged, which created confusion throughout the meal. Then things really went sideways. Trying to be respectful, I asked that my parents be served first. Everyone eventually received their meals and continued eating. The problem was that my Ise Course never arrived in sequence. My family finished their meals. My children finished. My parents finished. My sister finished. And on my birthday, I sat there alone waiting for several missing courses while everyone else watched. A seasonal set menu is supposed to feel paced and intentional. Instead, it felt forgotten. Arthur again stepped in and spoke with management. The restaurant offered complimentary desserts, which was appreciated, although somewhat awkward because my meal was still arriving while everyone else was already moving on to dessert. What happened next genuinely surprised me. When the bill arrived, management returned and asked whether we would be willing to authorize an additional charge so gratuity could be increased from 18% to 20% because of the size of the party. After the heat, the delays, the confusion, the overcooked centerpiece dishes, the missed pacing and spending a birthday meal eating alone after everyone else had finished, it felt like the wrong conversation to be having. I don't enjoy writing reviews like this because there is clearly talent in the building and Arthur deserves recognition for how hard he worked. But hospitality is ultimately about making people feel cared for. On this visit, despite a beautiful room and some good food, that never happened.
