Food was good, but service wasn't the best. Came in on a weeknight, so it wasn't too busy or loud and we were one of the only two tables in our server's section. After dropping off our drinks he left us for so long that my friend got up to go looking for him to let him know we've been ready to order... like ten minutes ago... Same thing when we were done and ready to pay- we had to hunt down our server as we were already tired of waiting for him to come by. Maybe he was new, but as a server myself I'd say maybe a little more training is needed.

Ok I have been here before but again forgot to take pictures of my food or drink because I was a fight for my life in there. Now I really do love they have an upstairs sitting area which I have the last time I was here. I wanted to sit there, but there was a swarm of gnats or fruit flies everywhere!! Now I was thinking it was maybe just in the upstairs sitting area...no they were in the entire restaurant! I couldn't even enjoy my miso soup without having to continually swat them to not accidentally have any of them land on my food. When I ordered my sushi I couldn't even eat because I had to immediately put napkins over the sushi so nothing would land on my food! I ended up moving outside which was way better than sitting in the restaurant and this is why I have to give them a 3-star. Because this is very unsanitary as they were EVERYWHERE! Customers shouldn't have to be swatting gnats the entire time we are trying to eat. So I don't have any pictures of my food as I was scared one might land on my sushi. The Tokyo Tea was really good I think I had 3 of them. The wait staff were really nice...but they need to get those gnats under control. I'll be back maybe in another 3-weeks hopefully it will be better!

Ate here last night. Good was pretty good. I went a little bit after six because I saw a photo on here that happy hour ends at 6:30 but it didn't. It ended at six. Luckily the waitress was really nice and still honored it. Adding the new happy hour menu here. I feel like there were some decent deals there, but then other stuff didn't seem great overall I enjoyed it, but don't feel like I really ordered the right things. I would probably do the Ramen next time the mochi ice cream dessert was really good and the sake for happy hour for five bucks was a good deal.

Kusshi is a wonderful gem somewhat "hidden" in the far left corner of Pike 7 Plaza. I visited on a Wednesday night and was surprised there was a good amount of people having dinner. There is seating downstairs as well as seating upstairs. The store is beautiful and clean with Japanese inspired wall paintings and floral decor. Our server for the night was Kat who did an amazing job. Very attentive, personable, and friendly. For a party of 3 we opted to try one of the sushi boats, specifically the "row boat" with 76pc. Everything is made fresh and tastes fresh. We loved everything from the sushi boat except for one of the rolls which I believe is the firecracker roll only because it was a lot spicier than we expected it to be so we couldn't finish that one. Other than that, for 3 people the row boat is plenty of food. We should've ordered the smaller boat because there was some sushi leftover but the seared salmon belly is a must!

Service: it was a quiet lunch and there was only one waitress on staff. She was great! Very sweet and put my order in promptly. Ambiance: very clean and beautiful. Love the murals - rabbit anime. There's also an upstairs dining area. Food: I ordered the sushi bowl with yellowtail and the Kusshi noodles to go. The sushi was fresh, rice was perfectly cooked, veggies crispy. I'll have to report back on the noodles but it looks great with beef, chicken and shrimp!! Update for the noodles: VERY GOOD. I like the slight spicy flavor. Had it the next morning so it reheated well. Thumb up :) I thought the meal was reasonably priced for Tysons. I received a special for my complex so wanted to give this restaurant a try. So glad I did. Thanks to the manager for extending a special for GOM!!!

Solid sushi spot in Vienna. We ordered a bunch of items, starting off with the takoyaki and the gyoza. The takoyaki was really good, and the sauce went with it nicely. The gyoza was good as well but nothing special. We ordered several sushi rolls as well, along with salmon and yellowtail sashimi. I don't eat a ton of sushi/sashimi, but both tasted very fresh and were tasty. I ordered the kakuni donburi for my main, and it was also tasty. The only complaint I have is I wished it had more of the Japanese pickles. Service was solid, no complaints. The restaurant is very cute. At first glance it doesn't look like it has much seating, but there is an upstairs area as well with more seating. I would definitely come again!

Cute little find - love the decor service wasn't as attentive as I expected one to be . I ordered the shrimp tempura and they were actually good . Plentiful in size . I really love how you see the cooks preparing the food - lets you see what's really being done .

Pretty decent sushi for the price and I do enjoy that their nigiri is assembled with more than fish and rice which gives good flavor to them on their own. The upstairs space is super cute as well and decor is very cute. I'm really impressed by the serves climbing up down the stairs overall solid sushi place that is still affordable

Sits in the Corner of a mall like plaza. Walked in and asked if they were open and then offered to have seating on the ground floor or upstairs. I chose upstairs. Was seated at a place with a view of the staff building my delicious meal. I ordered a sushi tartare, Obi and rainbow roll. All were tasty. The Obi was the most interesting. I didn't care for it but least I tried it. I added a hot green tea vice an alcoholic drink this go round. Great choice. Music that was playing in the background was also an interesting mix.

Dangerous mistake. I called ahead to ask if I was allowed to do a pickup order with a sesame allergy, they said yes of course. I wrote a note for each item on the online ordering system "SESEAME ALLERGY" and it shows printed clearly on the receipt. When I picked up, I made sure one final time to ask the manager to make sure there was no sesame, he promised there wasn't. I drove all the way back home, and whatdoyaknow... sesame seeds everywhere. You'd think they'd want to save money by using less ingredients? What's worse is we had been emailing back and forth and they decided to just stop replying to me. Do you understand I could have died? Do you know how much EpiPens cost? They don't care.

3.5 stars: a few great bites, mostly just okay. Would not go out of my way. Came here at an off time on a Sunday and was able to grab a seat upstairs. The decor in there is very cute. Service was a little slow at first, but it could be since we came at an off time, and it was their lunch break. Overall, they were very friendly and attentive. FOOD: ~ Yellowtail Crudo (4/5): Thick cuts of yellowtail topped with some chili oil crunch. Tasty and the chili oil crunch isn't too overpowering ~Dragon roll (3/5): Just okay. The seaweed wrapped on top blocked some of the flavor of the eel ~Uni taco (3/5): Great portion. California uni isn't my favorite (so personal preference), but it was nice and earthy with the brightness of the shisho leaf ~A5 wagyu taco (4.5/5): Wagyu was tender and seasoned well. Great portion. Sauce was good. Just wish there was some other topping to cut the richness ~Scallop taco (3/5): unfortunately the yuzu or maybe there was some kind of herb (mint maybe?) that just overtook the flavor of the taco. ~Bluefin fatty tuna taco (5/5): So good! No notes ~Sashimi sampler - 18 piece (3.8/5): good value. Overall fish quality, freshness, and taste was just okay Not a bad spot to visit if you're in the area, but probably wouldn't drive all the way out here for it.

The waitress was super nice and helpful. Don't forget to check in to get a free appetizer. I got the Philly roll, got beef (surf & surf), and nationals roll. I also got the California maki roll with roe, ovi, spicy salmon, and kusshi seared fatty salmon. The rice quality is so fresh and you know it's good when it doesn't fall apart. The seafood tasted fresh. My fan favorite is the kusshi seared fatty salmon. You can taste the smokiness which pairs well with the sauce on top. Also, the right chew texture. I like the seating upstairs. It's decorated with Japanese cherry blossom. I came here using the Groupon just make sure to include taxes in that total. They're one of my favorite sushi place.

This is a great place for sushi! We went there for lunch, and got the eel don, and the sushi taco trio. Everything tasted fresh and delicious! We sat at the top balcony area, and were treated with a Birds Eye view of the sushi chefs creating the beautiful dishes. The service was ok that day, we understood he was working by himself, and it was busy. We would go back if we are in the area.

Absolutely terrible. My family and I were regulars at this establishment and on our most recent visit we were met with some of the rudest service I've ever experienced. The manager was extremely unhelpful and would not even help find a chair for my elderly grandfather to be seated in. We asked the sushi chefs and they told us to take a chair from outside, but once we did the manager began to yell at our group. I will never return again. read more

We decided to try Kusshi Ko one evening while looking for a nice sushi spot in the area. Kusshi Ko had just been opened for a couple months now and we are always on the lookout for a new dining experience. Our first impressions were great, the ambience was splendid, the staff was attentive and took their time in explaining the different menu options plus all prices on the menu were reasonable for the quality. We decided on getting the nigiri and sashimi boat where everything was super fresh and without a doubt some of the best I've ever had. The wagyu and seared salmon belly nigiri that was ordered on the side was amazing. Everything we ate was delicious. We've tried just about every sushi restaurant in the surrounding area and for the price and quality, this is the best in the area and my go to spot for sushi from now on. Ask for the Seared Fatty Salmon for an appetizer to give you an idea of how well the ingredients are pair to create a unique paradise of deliciousness in your mouth. After that one of the most try entrees is the sea bass fish, please save room for one or two specialty rolls, actually make it three, from a good selection of locally inspired hand rolls, they are quite unique and they are all delicious. I love trying out sushi restaurants in the area. Since I discovered Kusshi Ko I come here at least once a week. I don't think I can ever go back to the other restaurants I used to visit. I came to try Kusshi Ko with my friend because we heard a lot of good things from people around us. First off, our server Lizzie was very caring and explained the dishes as they were coming to us. The manager, Peter, did a great job making sure we felt welcomed and comfortable throughout our entire dining experience. The fish quality was superb because they take pride in the freshness of their fish! Peter informed us that they get multiple shipments over the week to ensure excellent quality. Overall a great experience. Went in on Saturday around 1230ish. It was slow when we got there and service was not super fast and it was that way throughout - also tried to get the servers attention a few times and the individual was not paying attention from what we could see, which is why I gave 4 stars versus 5. The food was really good and I'd definitely go back. We got the spicy rock shrimp (absolutely delish!), the Nigiri and Sashimi Sampler - very fresh and really good. We also got the surf and turf specialty rolls which looked absolutely beautiful and while all of the individual ingredients were fresh and delicious there was a bit much going on I think - flavors were fighting against each other a bit. Overall, good experience and I would absolutely recommend/go back again. read more

Kusshi Ko is very slept on. The 8 + 8 VIP is such a steal! It's all chef's choice, however it's all the most premium cuts of fish that they provide. It's also way more cost efficient than getting it al a carte. The super fatty tuna on my VIP was to die for. Definitely try out the A5 wagyu imported from Miyazaki Japan. If you need any sake recommendations definitely go for the Dassai 23. I literally get it for a better price here than H mart. Sea Urchin imported from Hokkaido was also amazing, also don't forget about the 24k gold flakes on top. Toga and Ebo are some of the best sushi chefs in the DMV area. This sushi spot hits differently, I brought my date here and she absolutely loved it and we are gonna have a second date yah!! EXCELLENT service, both the manager and server were very helpful in helping decide on what to get on the menu and food came out very quickly. Highly recommend Clarise to be your server, she has great knowledge on sushi and has a very bright smile with eagerness to serve. The ambiance is very nice, as we sat on the higher level and the place is well decorated. The sushi rolls were really good, I personally loved the Ovi roll. The chicken Karaage had huge pieces and the seared salmon tasted warm and flavorful. The miso soup bowl was pretty large in comparison to other places. very hip cool place! The gyudon tastes similar to korean bulgogi in terms of texture with the rice, but i think the meat was beef brisket. read more

NEW LOCAL FAVORITE! Hard working young professionals. Love to see the new generation pull off an incredible local business like this, and will be a HUGE SUPPORTER as a Tyson's local for years to come. The food was incredible and sushi was spot on. Perfect sushi rice and all ingredients including the roe was fresh and of high quality. For fair prices too! I walked in and was greeted by chefs and who I presume to be the owner. They treat everyone who walks in with respect and go above and beyond to create an incredible experience. While Kura is great, I'll be a regular at this new restaurant. This is a decent sushi place to visit though more for rolls than sashimi/nigiri imo. The service at this place is really fast, which I appreciated. Their servers were also really attentive and checked in often. Part of what made them fast could have been bc they precut the fish. I feel this led some to the fish not tasting as fresh. Their sea urchin also tasted a little funky, kind of like it was preserved in some way. My adventurous eater and I tried out Sushi Koji after rugby yesterday. It was a real treat. Our…read moreserver was very helpful in helping us decide what to get, and we thought we would try sashimi (after reading reviews about the place) as well as noodles. Fellow Yelpers did not steer us wrong! We ordered Otoro (fatty tuna) and sake belly (salmon belly) sashimi, listed as 3 pieces each. We also ordered tempura udon, a shrimp tempura roll*, takoyaki, and mentaiko butter udon (off the specials menu). Let me begin by saying the space is clean, roomy, and well-decorated. We enjoyed looking at the artwork and figurines, which included anime figures that we recognized. There were many tables, and though they may be physically close together, there is enough separation to be comfortable without being on top of each other or feeling cramped. There was a family of five that was seated next to us partway through the meal, and I never felt like the noise level changed or that we suddenly felt as if there were more people around. The takoyaki came out covered in bonito flakes. The sauce was a perfect blend of tempered spicy mayo as my adventurous eater enjoyed it without being overwhelmed by heat. The bites were well-sized as not to be too large, but we were able to bite in without burning our tongues our with the right balance of batter and octopus, and we both enjoyed it greatly. The sashimi came out with the shrimp tempura roll on a beautifully arranged boat - 4 pieces each! We each tried two pieces of otoro and sake belly, and the pieces just melted into our mouth. The otoro was garnished with what appeared to be hint of wasabi and maybe chopped jalapeño, which was too much for my adventurous eater to try, so I gently scraped it off. Neither of us were able to taste anything but the well-chosen slices of fatty tuna, which were a hit. We then tried the sake belly which were garnished with a sliver of fried garlic and garlic paste. Again, I scraped it off for the adventurous eater, who then raved about how delicious it was! I tried it with the garlic and agreed. The garlic was perfectly fried, and was the right amount not to overwhelm the delicate buttery texture and flavor of the salmon belly. Although, I will admit - while it's a nice flavor to add, the sashimi itself didn't need anything to be added. The tempura udon came out, with perfectly battered pieces - 2 shrimp, an asparagus, an onion ring, a slice of sweet potato, and a slice of eggplant. My adventurous eater attacked the shrimp while I munched on veggies. The batter was crispy, light, and not greasy. My mentaiko butter udon came out and I am so glad I ordered it! There was a little nest of noodles, with two halves of a soft-boiled egg, and plenty of creamy sauce. The menu described the dish as buttery and umami and it did not deceive. The udon was perfectly chewy and slurpable, coated with delicious creamy sauce. I debating mixing in the eggs because they looked so perfect, so I dipped one half in the sauce instead and ate that whole, before mixing in the other half into my bowl. Even my adventurous eater tried a little bit of my udon and agreed that it was delicious! Not having had mentaiko butter before, I looked it up before writing this review. The dish is described as being a spicy-fish roe butter sauce, but what we are talking about is a very mild heat. The dish was warming, tasty, and very comforting. It was also surprisingly light considering the buttery richness of the flavors. I finished every last bit of the noodles in my bowl and drank the rest of the sauce, with all the fish roe stirred in. I may have also commented a couple of times on how phenomenal the dish was. That was when our server shared that it was the first day it had been on the menu, so they were looking for feedback. I would say that the dish alone is worth checking out, but I feel like you will keep coming back due to the quality of everything else. I think this place is a gem and I will definitely look for excuses to return to Oakton to eat there again. Between the friendly service, the cheerful ambiance, and the amazing food, this is hitting all the right notes! * My adventurous eater filled up on everything else before even getting to the shrimp tempura roll, so we ended up packing up the rest of the udon and the shrimp tempura roll to bring home. Due to life, the roll never made it into the fridge, so we tragically had to toss it without trying it. I wish I could tell you how it was, but I can say the roll was beautifully formed and served and looked absolutely delicious. This is where I wish I had taken pictures of everything.

Anything with shrimp tempura is a win for me, and this one hit the spot. The ambiance is cute, cozy, and on the smaller side, which made the whole experience feel more quiet and intimate. It did not feel rushed at all, which I appreciated, especially since we were breaking our fast. We ended up taking a lot of food to go because the portions were so generous, and surprisingly, everything still tasted fresh and delicious even the next two days. The only downside is that it is definitely on the pricier side, but the quality, portions, and overall experience helped justify it. Overall, great quality sushi, generous portions, and a calm, intimate vibe. Definitely a spot I would come back to, especially if I am in the mood for fresh sushi without a loud or hectic atmosphere.

Seeing that dream come to life made the evening feel even more special. The restaurant was busy (definitely make reservations), but we were able to enjoy cocktails while we waited for our table. My Grey Goose martini with bleu cheese olives was phenomenal and set the tone for the rest of the meal. We started with the Bison Tartare and the Ceviche. The bison tartare was leaner than traditional beef tartare, and the crispy chips added the perfect savory crunch. The ceviche was incredibly fresh and bright. For our entrées, I had the ribeye while my wife ordered the Dory. The ribeye was cooked perfectly--juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. My wife couldn't stop talking about how buttery and delicious the fish was. To finish the evening, we ordered the 100-Year Port Flight featuring 10-, 20-, 30-, and 40-year ports. Vertical tastings are such a fun way to experience how a wine evolves over time. The 40-year was absolutely outstanding, and the 20-year was another favorite. The 10-year was enjoyable but still showed its youthful character compared to the older vintages. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between upscale and relaxed. The main dining room can feel a little tight when the restaurant is full, while the bar area has a few TVs for anyone wanting to catch a game. One thoughtful touch that stood out was the women's restroom being stocked with amenities like hair ties and hair clips. We noticed they also offer a tasting menu, and after this experience, that's already on our list for our next visit. Between the outstanding hospitality, exceptional food, excellent cocktails, and welcoming atmosphere, Evelyn Rose absolutely earned five stars.

We celebrated our son's birthday at Kusshi Ko, and it was a delightful experience. We ordered the Kusshi Row Boat, which could easily feed an entire family. I also ordered the beef gyudon, which was hearty enough to satisfy any hungry person. Out of all the dishes that night, our least favorite was the beef teriyaki and veggies. Unfortunately, the beef was overcooked, making it quite tough and chewy. Unlike traditional teriyaki, it had a blackened flavor that was unexpected and not quite what my daughter was hoping for. The veggies were also overdone and a bit mushy, rather than having a crisp sauté. However, this did not detract from our overall experience. The staff has always been friendly, and our drinks are always full. If you love sushi, you definitely need to check out Kusshi Ko! read more

I generally like the offering and the price, but as my mom used to say, you pay peanuts you get monkeys. This place tried to save on food cost by loading up the rolls with rice. See my pic that shows how much extra rice I had to pull off the rolls so that I didn't suffer a diabetic coma after my meal. The second issue is that they pay no attention to the notes when you order on Uber Eats. I am allergic to shellfish and tell them, the always put shrimp in the sushi order when I ask for it to be removed. I ask for spicy mayo on the side because otherwise they load it onto to rolls real thick. Guess what, I never get any spicy mayo on the side leaving me to make my own at home. I recommend sitting upstairs along the glass overlooking the sushi bar where you can watch them create your roll or meal. The food is top notch and is definitely one of the best if not the best sushi I have had. I tried the surf and turf role along with the galleria role and they were both unique and left you craving your next bite. Of course, we were disappointed, but were quickly able to figure out that there was another Maru location in the Pan Am shopping center. I was familiar with Pan Am because I buy art supplies at the Plaza store there. So, we headed over to the Pan Am Maru. A friendly staffer promptly seated us. About half the tables were occupied. We asked out server what was going on with the Vienna Maru and she told us they were gradually shutting it down completely. However, the Pan Am Maru is not fully functional yet. They have a sushi counter but it won't open until next year. I also don't know if the current Pan Am Maru menu is the one they are going with going forward. But I do note it is smaller than the one at the Vienna Maru, noting in particular that the lunch options, such as the bento boxes, are not on the Pan Am Maru menu. If they have done away with the bento boxes, I'm not that interested in returning. Service at the Pan Am Maru was very good. The ambience is comfortable. We ordered Spicy Pork Bulgogi, Spicy Chicken Bulgogi, Japchae, and the Katsu special. When they say the pork and chicken bulgogi are spicy, Mary is not fooling around. These dishes are hot spicy! Overall, each of our dishes were well-prepared and tasty. I also ordered the beef bulgogi steamed buns and they were excellent .

I got the beef and sushi combo for 2 and it was very delicious. All the side dishes were seasoned well and portion sizes were great! However, the star of the show was actually the acorn jelly! The cold slushy broth is so refreshing and has the perfect amount of savory and vinegar which I will get every time I come. It comes topped with perilla leaves which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. If I did have a complaint, I would say there was SO much food! The combo for 2 would have easily fed 3 or 4. We didn't get to finish the nengmyeon but I was already satisfied and very very full. Edward, the manager, is so nice and he gets very involved from hosting to running food and talking to each table to make sure everyone was satisfied! My servers, Matt and Casie were very attentive and happy to help. They are so friendly and cooked our meats to PERFECTION! The interior is also very bright which made the colors of the sushi and meat stand out to show how fresh they were. It's very clean inside and the banchan get set right after you sit down. They are still pretty new so they are working out the kinks, but soon they'll have a cocktail menu which I'm looking forward to and hopefully some desserts! The staff did an amazing job, especially considering they're newly opened. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome throughout our meal. A special shoutout to the owner, Edward, who was so kind and personable. He took the time to check in on guests, which made the experience even more memorable. The only thing I'd love to see added in the future is a dessert menu. It would be the perfect way to end such a great meal.
