I haven't written a Yelp review in almost 2 years, but I had to make a special exception. On 2/13, I purchased a Groupon for an oil change and on the SAME DAY, I went to Kwik Kar now known as Honest Auto Lube (ironic) located at 1201 Coit Rd. to get it done. There were hardly any customers at the location and the workers seemed bored. Prior to driving there, I tried to call Honest Auto Lube's number at least 3 times but nobody was picking up. The guy behind the counter wasn't friendly and said that they couldn't accept Groupons because they were apparently victims of 60 fake Groupon vouchers (how hard is it to verify a Groupon and have a worker press REDEEM on the app?!). He said that they were trying remove themselves from the Groupon website and that it apparently takes 2-3 weeks for the change to take place. I don't know how it would take this long for your business to be removed from an online only platform such as Groupon, but whatever. His response felt extremely sketchy to me and rather than work with me on a resolution, he stood firm at denying the Groupon. After reading Larry W.'s Yelp review dated February 8, I'm beginning to believe that they rejected the Groupon because they were not happy with the return they were getting from Groupon. I ended up going to another auto shop in Plano who were happy to accept a Groupon (I bought a different Groupon and got refunded for the Groupon that Honest Auto Lube rejected) and the business. Here's a tip for the owner/manager of Kwik Kar, Honest Auto Lube, or whatever the hell you want to call yourselves: if you don't want to accept Groupons then hurry up and remove yourself from the website asap. It's not fair for a customer to drive down to your business and be denied. At the very least, pick up your phone so that you can inform the customer that you are no longer participating in Groupon. Because of this bad experience, I will be avoiding this place at all costs and I'm sure many others felt the same way judging by how empty it was last week. As of 2/20, I still see that Honest Auto Lube at 1201 Coit Rd. is still offering Groupons. WTF. Get. Your. Shit. Together. read more

I went in today for an oil change. I had been here before but they have changed ownership recently. You can tell they seem to be a duck out of water. The owner said they are different, all employees are certified mechanics, no one is a technician. When I asked to see record, he walked away This is an abnormal view for a franchise. This place has the absolute worst customer service. The guy behind the desk, who I think is named Jorge became unhinged over a Groupon. I purchased a Groupon online legally and I followed the instructions to have the oil change done properly. The oil change started and it was going well in the beginning. The guy came in to talk about billing and he started complaining about the Groupon. He said how much it was a waste of their time, and they made no money on it and how he didn't like the company policy of using Groupons. I told him it wasn't my fault and I don't know why he's taking it out on me with his poor customer service and attitude. He then went out to the bay and cut my oil change short. I honestly don't know or think it was done correctly or at all. Handprints are everywhere. This guy claims to be the owner and said he was moved over there to make it run right. So far my experience here has been good to great. They are friendly, fast, and reasonably priced. I have no issue with the quality of the work they have done so far. I've had them work on two different cars from routine maintenance, to inspections, to major repairs and the work was done in a timely manner and I've seen no quality issues. One of my vehicles has a perplexing problem with the brake system and they are attempting to solve that now. If they can solve that problem, they will have achieved what three dealerships and a Firestone could not. I'm sitting at 4.5 stars and willing to go 5.0 if they sort this one out. Bob is both friendly and responsive. He listens to what you are saying, what you are asking for, and looks for ways to save you money rather than upsell a larger repair. read more

This place was great, the lived up to their "kwik car" name. The mechanics were very fast and completed the job the same day. I got my 2020 Chevy Silverado lifted, leveled and spacers placed on all 4 wheels. Bob the gentleman that is at the desk was very polite and helpful. Assad the head mechanic had no problem adjusting my wheel well to fit my new tires and spacers in. It seems no job is too big, no vehicle too old or new and any make or model is beyond them. Horrible experience. I went in for an oil change and they came back to me telling me that i needed a bunch of additional services - spark plug change, fuel injection service, etc. I asked for the spark plug change because my vehicle had just crossed 100k miles. They took 15 minutes to do it and I thought everything was in order when i drove off. Later that evening I realized that my spark plugs weren't really changed - they had charged me full price only to keep my car in their shop for 15 minutes. read more

My girlfriend went to this location two months ago to get her oil changed, because I was out of town and unable to change it myself. They ended up telling her that she needed an engine flush because of a buildup of sludge, a new serpentine belt because the existing one was cracked, a brake fluid flush, and a new air flow sensor (due to a check engine light). I told her not to do anything and wait for me to get back. As it turns out, there was absolutely no sludge, the belt was still in great condition with absolutely zero cracks, the brake fluid was still a clear/yellow color, and after reseating the airflow sensor, the check engine light turned off and hasn't come back on since. A simple oil change was unnecessarily turned into a $380 repair (not even including the cost of the oil change, labor, and fees). I would not recommend this place, as they appear to prey on unaware car owners. read more

BEWARE THE SCAM. My girlfriend took her car here to see if they knew why her car was making a noise. After taking her car for literally 5 minutes, they told her she needed brake pads and rotors replaced. That her brakes are the worst they have ever seen and the noise is metal scraping on metal from the brakes. After she refused, they kept pushing her. She brought the car home and I checked the brakes and they were barely worn, rotors in excellent condition. They clearly took advantage of her because she knows little about cars. read more

They give you what you actually need and we have had so many good experiences here. This is where you want to go if you want honest mechanics and great customer service! This is a great place to take your car or truck. I've personally dealt with mike and was impressed with his knowledge of working on vehicles. Both the owner and mechanics know their field very well and will not bs you on pricing, work, parts, etc. The owner Hairo is spectacular a honest, respectful, and humble person. He faced some difficulties with my lifted F150 and handled them accordingly. I take both my car and my truck to them because they are trustworthy people and understand vehicles extremely well. The service is not so good. They said my filter is a little dirty and need to be replaced. But I don't want to replace now. There are some leaves on filter. They just put filter back with the leaves! This location was amazing. Bob was so professional and really kind and even gave me discounts because I had so much to fix on my car. They got my car in and out quickly even though I had many things that needed to be fixed. When I came to get my car they even offered to vacuum it out for me for free. Consumers beware!!!! Do not get scammed by these folks at this location. My previous review was removed by the yelp staff because they are protecting the identity of the scammer who works at this location. Long story short they refused to pass my vehicle inspection and tried to use unfair tactics to persuade me to purchase unnecessary service. I refused because I myself am mechanically inclined and just needed an inspection sticker on my always serviced and maintained vehicle. As for the yelp staff, shame on you for removing my review, I didn't mention any names just a descriptive reference so the manager can coach his staff and the public can use as a forewarning. Lastly, isn't this a consumer review tool? The public should be aware of bad business practices.....no more double standards please, the public relies on Yelp and other review sites to expose unfair business practices and crooks in every industry. read more

My mother and I have gone to them for years. They have always been honest, informative and responsible. If anything ever was below satisfaction, they resolved it and did so with courteousness and immediacy. My suggestion is to check the guys out and to ask them to earn your business and if you are fair, they will deliver on your expectations. read more

Took my car in for state inspection. They were quick and I was in and out in about 20 minutes. When I got home, I noticed the back of my hood wasn't closed how it should be. Turns out that whoever did my inspection left their FLASHLIGHT in my engine, then slammed the hood, forcing it closed. It bent my hood! I only give them 2 stars instead of 1 because they gave me no problems about fixing it. The manager was extremely apologetic and they absorbed the entire cost of fixing the damage without hesitation. read more

I took my son's car in for an oil change - big mistake! I should have know better, they are not busy on a Saturday afternoon. After the oil change I ran a few errands and noticed when pulling out of a parking space that there was a puddle under my car. I got out and checked it - fresh oil. I called back tot he shop and they were closed, so I limped back home and would try them in the morning since their web site said they were open. I was down two quarts from the leak which I assumed was the oil filter. I called the next morning, so answer and no voice mail, so I went to the Kwik Car location on Midway Road in Plano - what a difference, professional and clean operation. They diagnosed the issue, the other Kwik Car and over tightened the oil filer and crushed it and the rubber seal ring. I had to pay for another oil change to correct the problem (they gave me a discount for my troubles). If I had not seen the oil puddle when pulling out I could be looking at a damaged engine. When I complained the manager said he would issue a refund in a text, a week later I had not seen the credit come through and he said the owner would not honor it and may give me a discount on my next few oil changes, I said NO and filed a complaint and refund with VISA as well as filed a complaint with the Kwik Car Franchise. STAY AWAY from this location, they don't know what they are doing and are not honest business people in my opinion. Don't rust them with your Car! read more

Nicest guys ever! I went there for the first time today to get an oil change and it was great. I asked if they had water and when they realized they didn't, they ran out and got a pack of water bottles! It took no time at all, too. The mechanic showed me a few things I should take care of in my car but didn't pressure me to get it done now. Best place I've been to in a while! read more

Not only was a very large man trying to up sell me on crap I didn't need (maybe cause I'm a woman by myself) but was also cursing loud on the phone which was very threatening I left with out getting all I came for and will never return! I was literally stranded and needed to get to a shop so I pushed it here and I wish I would have pushed it anywhere else. Please do not use this location if at all possible. - Every time I was given a quote, the quote would go up again and again. - I came with a pretty good idea of what was wrong and ended up getting a quote for 2k+. I feel like this shop is filled with the biggest crooks ever. I came in only to get a state inspection done but after my experience, I will never frequent a Kwik kar again. I took my car in for a state inspection one morning. I was waiting in the waiting area when I was called up to the counter and they let me know that the light bulb above my license plate was out. My husband had actually tested all of my safety items before I headed up there so I can't imagine that overnight, this lightbulb would go bad. I asked them how much to fix and they told me $20. Nope, I'll have my husband (or hell, myself) change out a $2 bulb in an easy to reach area. He then informed me that if I didn't have them change it out, they would fail me. Well, I wasn't wanting to spend any more time doing a state inspection so I went ahead and told him to change it. Then guess what happened next, my car actually failed the emissions test. So, I could have waited on the freaking $20 itty bitty light bulb. Still yet, I was willing to give them another chance. I took my car to my mechanic and he replaced a simple gas replacement valve after testing it with his equipment and fixed up the problem immediately. It was a fairly new issue going on with my car so it hadn't even thrown any engine lights yet. I waited a day and drove it around a little to get the codes right in the system and took it back up there to have it retested. The guy that was there the next day had me on edge. He hooked it up and told me I needed to replace my catalytic converter and told me of a shop nearby that could do it and let them know that he sent me. Huh? And if I didn't want to go there, they could replace it at kwik kar. Nope. I have a mechanic that I trust very much (such a rarity these days) and wouldn't even begin messing around with these fools. He was obviously getting a kick back from his buddy's shop. I left there, rightfully pissed, and drove it straight up to the emissions only testing place on Parker and independence and imagine this, it passed immediately. I will never go to a place again that offers repairs, as well, as emissions testing because that's where they try to "make up" problems. I can't believe the state allows it and it will be something I take up with our lawmakers. However, after my experience there, I can honestly say that this place is not a reputable business. I will also share on my other social media sites that I review on. People need to be aware. read more

And I took my car to my dealer, the dealer called me next day said there is nothing wrong with the emergency break. Called the manager and he explained that every inspector has their own way to fail the car. Apparently they failed my car so they can have my car to get repaired there. Such a scam. read more

Terrible experience with the service here. This place is very near to my work, so I decided to stop by for an oil change about 3 months ago. I was going on a weekend trip, so I had figured it would be most convenient to stop there on my lunch break. I pulled in, told the man that I just needed an oil change and went to the waiting room. There wasn't a whole lot of communication with anyone there, they all pretty much ignored me and went about fixing the waiting cars. Okay, fine. Imagine my surprise when I was brought to the register to pay after the oil change was complete- And was told that my total was about $74. I almost fell over - Never in my life have I ever paid that much for a basic oil change. I was FLOORED. I asked the guy if this was really the total for just a quick oil change. He just nodded and didn't make any effort to elaborate or explain the charges. As a sidenote, I have REGULARLY visited the Kwik Kar on MacArthur Boulevard in Irving and the service is like night and day. Great guys, excellent care and I have never paid more than about $30 for a standard oil change. So, naturally, I was in shock at paying more than double at the same chain for the exact same service. A closer inspection of the receipt confirmed the incredibly unethical practices that the technicians are using at this Kwik Kar - They took it upon themselves to use the most expensive, high-end and top-of-the-line oil in my car despite the fact that I did NOT specify to use this oil and nobody came to me during the service to ask what oil I wanted to use. Naively, I assumed that, because nobody really said more than 5 words to me until I was being checked out, that they were using the basic oil that I have always gotten. In fact, one would think that, if they were really trying to sell this premium, expensive oil, they would have asked me first or, at the very least, presented it as an option - Instead of taking it upon themselves to dump it into my car and then charge me up the you-know-what for it. $74 for an oil change is ridiculous. Forcing a $74 oil change onto an unassuming customer by using the most expensive oil option and not asking them ahead of time is, at best, unethical and, at worst, cheating your customers. Had someone come to me and asked what type of oil I'd like to use, I would have said the basic kind. Had someone offered the very expensive premium oil before dumping it into my car, I would have politely declined. I will never be back to this location and I'm leaving this review so others know how customers are treated and exactly what type of business practices they are teaching their staff. Under new management....never been here before but get my car washed next door so it was convenient. Everyone seemed to be in a poor mood, not hustling and disorganized. The guy that helped me was a big dude in a wife beater, not branded, not customer service oriented. When paying out, the guy in charge seemed to be angry. Now they changed the oil without trying to upsell me which I appreciate but a lady that has done business there for 20 years want so lucky. She wasn't impressed with the lack of service too so they'll probably lose her. They are a little pricey, didn't ask what grade or oil I preferred, etc. They are new so give them a chance to improve their customer service skills but they won't last long at this rate. read more

Kwik Kar at Coit & W. Plano Pkwy. is not electronic friendly business. Unfortunately, I did not ask for the name of the person who said on phone just show the Valpak electronic coupon with coupon ID# on your iphone. I ask if I can print it out at the store, but they refuse. When I started my car, there was something rattling in my car's engine bay. I opened the hood and discover they didn't completely put back a part of my engine cover. After 10 min. of figuring it out myself with no help from the store, I was able to do it. During all this, I was not belligerent, just disappointed at their service; I was evaluating their expertise for future visits, but no longer. I would not recommend fellow Yelpers to go here unless they change their attitude, helpfulness, and expertise. They also mentioned their headquarter is on Frankford & Preston when someone came in asking if they are hiring. Therefore, I will also post this review at that location too. read more

This place is the most horible service station I have been to. It took them 2 hours to replace two rear tires and after waiting for them to finish I found out they had installed my tires inside out. This is the worst Auto Shop I have been to in the last 15 years. Went for an alignment and they took my car for spin , hooked it up to the computer and after 30 Mins got it down and gave it to me saying aligned. I asked for the report of misalignment and the correction done. The manager says- No one asks for such a report and goes on to say Our printers dont print that detail and then says the computer does not store the data. In essence they pretended they did some work and will talk nonsense and take your money. DO NOT GO THERE!!! read more

I needed a state inspection and this shop was recommended to me by a friend. The owner greeted me when I arrived. He was very nice and personable. During the inspection, one of the technicians showed me a few issues with my car that I was not aware of, but he did not pressure me to get them fixed there. They took care of all of the issues pretty quickly and gave me a very good rate on the fluid flush and filter replacement. I would definitely recommend this shop to friends and family! read more

When a coupon I use says "Grand re-opening, under new management" that usually means it used to have poor management and is now improved. Not the case here! This was my first visit (because I had a coupon) and needed an oil change and inspection for my 2013 car that ONLY has 22,000 miles on it. How they were not able to do the inspection because the "computer isn't working and maybe there is a wire broken in MY car" is beyond me. Seriously? The staff was lackadaisical and didn't explain ANYTHING to me about the oil change, although they did sell me two horribly overpriced filters, which I should have said no to, but that's my fault. I will never ever return here and I will tell everyone I know never to use this Kwik Kar. Exactly 20 minutes later, my car was inspected by Z Lube and Car Wash and passed with no issues. read more

Stopped by just for a state inspection for my registration. I was a little concerned about the previous bad reviews. I had a mailer coupon for $15 which is $10 cheaper than any place, so I didn't know what to expect. It was a great experience! The employee was super nice and friendly. I grabbed a cup of coffee, sat down to wait and he came back saying my car was ready. And, it was pulled up to the door for my convenience. I will definitely try them next time I need automobile service! read more
