But...a croissant without butter...is that possible? Short answer: YES Tried the cookie butter croissant and was surprised that it has a great taste, texture and no weird aftertaste. Pass on the cookie butter, the croissant is good on its own without the strong taste of the filling competing with it. Beef-less stew empanada was a nice snack/appetizer: good taste, you can't even tell it's tofu. Crust was great with a buttery taste and flaky consistency. The avo toast on croissant was interesting with its vegan egg yolk that looks freakishly real...just don't Google the ingredients if you want to enjoy its realistic effect. Finally the GF tiramisu waffles...this was a miss for for me. I had something different in my head, namely more of a tiramisu flavor as it is my favorite dessert. Here the coffee taste was in perceptible but there is plenty of chocolate flavor which balances well with the berries on it. A little too crispy which made difficult to eat on the small plate but it filled me up with feeling bloated afterward so that's nice. Would I come back? For regular croissants, yes. I walked in this morning to order a coffee and a pistachio croissant to go. As I was walking out I saw next to the front window 2 small tables (maybe one regular size plate could fit on top of this table.) Came alllll the way down here for a friends birthday! The place is small but cute, so not good for large parties at all. The staff was friendly and gave us time to look at the menu. I had the VTE and the cassis macaron along with the apricot and creme brûlée croissants (both of the to-go) . The food was good! I'm a vegetarian but this place is vegan. The VTE was good. The menu said it was spicy but it was not spicy at all. I wish it actually did have some spice to it? It would've made it better. The potatoes were cooked perfectly. Went to this place twice in the last two months. It seems that the quality and service has taken a dive! It used to be a great spot and the croissants were amazing! The price here is ATROCIOUS for the confusion and fiasco we had to undergo to eat breakfast here on a Saturday morning. This cafe is set up like an order at the counter style, so we get there figure out what we wanted, ordered, then sat at an available table. We were told promptly that there was a wait for a table; which is confusing because there was not even a sign that said to be seated! So we were asked to stand and wait for our table, meanwhile our food was coming out in to go boxes. The person at the counter never asked if we wanted to stay in or take to go, however I would never pay literally $50 for waffles, croissant sandwich and coffee TO GO. At the end of the day the young employees apologized for the misunderstanding but this was such an overpriced disorganized mess that I will not be coming back here. This could have all been prevented if there was just a sign saying that we would be waited on for a table. The food was good, but there were only 3 things on the menu that were gluten free, for a bakery that claims to have options, so that was pretty disappointing too. It's unfortunate that I was just starting to give this place a try, but todays interaction made me aim for a 2 star or lower review I take my kid to martial arts closeby, and a friend told me about this place that I could try vegan pastries from - since I am dairy free I was excited to give L'Artisane a try! I shrugged it off on another walk over to get some vegan donuts for me and my little one to try the second time around. I was ignored by the same girl who served me the first time, being helped by her team mate who asked if she saw me standing there. I grabbed my pastries, and decided to grab a chai latte to see if that had more flavor. As I sat down to wait for my latte and then to add stevia to my drink, someone from the back approached me to ask if I was there "to go" or sitting. I explained that I was putting sweetener in my drink (I could only stay for a few minutes before walking back for my kid anyways.) He made sure I knew that if I stayed it was a 18% automatic gratuity to sit inside. I smiled and said no problem, I'm leaving. Sad thing is, I'd already tipped... on a to go order. Despite the shotty service the second time around ... after this interaction, I won't be back. Miami and Coral Gables have enough options I would rather support than come back here again for this sort of service. I stopped by on a whim after a quick Yelp search and realized I've walked past app many times (Grumpy is next door). The space is really cute and clean but it is a bit small so much so that if you're ordering to go you might end up in the way of servers coming in and out of the kitchen. While I didn't have a meal the food looked great. I asked someone behind the bakery for a recommendation and was advised to get the seasonal special, the pecan tart. It was so good! Was itching to try this place based on reviews. It's a cute little place in Coral Gables and if you've been to Coral Gables before then you shouldn't be surprised that parking can be an issue sometimes. It's a small little shop but it looks like they are expanding. I estimate about 7 or 8 tables so not great for large parties. But the place is very clean. As for food, I went for their croissants and macaroons. The Guava and Cheese was my favorite. It was not overly sweet and the pastry dough was nice and airy. My only knock was that I wouldn't really call that a croissant but more of a danish. My wife loved the Dulce de Leche Cruffin (I'm assuming by name alone that it's meant to be a culinary mash up of a croissant and a muffin). Again it was not too sweet and perfectly airy. The dulce de leche had a hint of coconut to it but very subtle. The monkey bread and the Nutella croissant were also very good. So were the macaroons. It was so hard to choose from all of the different flavors, but I went with the one filled with hazelnut spread and the other with Biscoff cookie butter. Let me tell you, they were divine. The pastries were nice and fluffy, and they don't skimp on the filling. Can't wait to order from them when I visit Miami again. I was so excited, I got the Croissant Box ($30, $7.50 for shipping) which came with five different options of my choice. I went with: - Guava - Cruffin - Pain Au Chocolat - Nocciolata - Plain I appreciated the information that came with them explaining how to "refresh" the croissants upon arrival (and/or after freezing). Even following that though, the croissants had a strange texture; and, flavor wise they were a bit underwhelming: there was barely any chocolate, the guava and cream cheese were rubbery, and the cruffin didn't taste anything like coconut or caramel. It was altogether a confusing experience. Visually they were lovely, but for us, they were a miss. I appreciate they ship nationally, and I would definitely check them out in person if I was ever in the area (because I bet these are perfection fresh that day!). Completely vegan, lots of gluten free options. I came every single day of my vacation, and then ordered a ton of pastries to take back home.
