Beef sandwich and French onion soup
    Mac R. M.

Wanted French onion soup today for lunch. Fortunately, I was within driving distance from the office to La Bonne B. Haven't been in a while but it was comforting to know that nothing has changed. Opted to for half beef sandwich and half French onion soup. If you're on a diet, avert your eyes from the pastry section. Just walk past it like youre being led by a service dog, because if you don't. We'll, you know what happens next.

They say it's "better late than never", a week late but still want to share about Valentine's Day here. First, the fact that my latte kicked the meal off with a Happy Valentine's - so cute. We had a little bit of everything: frittata, loaded waffles, pancakes, chocolate croissant, and potatoes. Everything came out together, warm, and tasty. The waffles were soft and a great balance of flavor and sweet. The whipped cream, I could have eaten a tub of. We arrived at 10:00, without reservations (they only take reservations for parties of five or more), and were promptly seated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we left there was a bit of a crowd waiting to be seated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Before leaving I popped over to the bakery (where I have been a few times) and grabbed some goodies to take home for later. Love the bakery and all the options available. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place to have a nice brunch with friends, a date, or just grab some sweets.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were great, friendly, and helpful with everything. Stop in and show them some love.

Got a too good to go mystery box here. Went to pick it up at 8pm. They gave it to me right away. It had 6 large pastries in it. Really good amount of food for the money.

I've passed this bakery at least 200 times but never stopped in. I must say, I'm so glad I did!! They sell every type of baked good you can imagine from cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, danishes, macaroons, etc. I ordered a chocolate chip scone, mini cinnamon scone and a box a macaroons. They have a deal where you can get a surprise box of imperfect macaroons for $6 which was a great deal and they tasted awesome. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service was fast and the cafe is much bigger on the inside than it looks from the inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is adorable too and makes you feel like you stepped into a Paris cafe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Definitely would be a great meeting spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

They share a parking lot with several other businesses, and it was easy to find parking. As you enter, you see all of the amazing displays filled with fruit tarts, muffins, danishes, croissants, soufflés and so many different flavors and colors of macarons. Some people don't realize that this is also a full service restaurant where you can sit down and have lunch as well. Service was courteous and helpful. Get there early for the best selection as they do sell out of items.

La Bonne Bouchee has been holding it down since 1981, which means people don't just like her, they are now emotionally attached. This place is part cafe, part smoothie stand, and part bakery. I came for a smoothie (hydration, health, balance) and immediately derailed into sweet and savory snacks. The ricotta and spinach danish thingy ma bob was fantastic, flaky and creamy. Then I grabbed all the cookies, took one bite of each like a civilized raccoon, and felt zero regret. It's about balance. It's a little chaotic in there but it's clearly doing something right because it has outlived trends, diets, and common sense.

Always a good visit here. We often stop by for special occasions or sweet French bakery craving. Their macarons are delicious and there's so many flavors! We've dine in a few times and their foods are rich and satisfying as well; one of the best baguettes (crunchy outside & soft inside) in town! Wish I could just buy a bag of them home!

Lunch today, chicken salad, sandwich with chips and fruit, potato and ham soup, house salad with Dijon vinaigrette, fabulous! Such delicious food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sat inside near the patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then there is the Patisserie, oh my! Brought home a blueberry turnover and a mini pecan cinnamon roll for breakfast tomorrow, could have bought 100 more things unbelievable selection of bakery items. Definitely save room for take-home desserts.

Pastries are phenomenal!!! 10/10 recommend for desserts and pastries. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Rates 4 instead of 5 due to the actual restaurant dining experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Average food a lot of it sounds better than it is (with an abundance of cheese). [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a fun atmosphere, just wish the food was more escalated for a better experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was quick and friendly.

Let me start this by saying that I wasn't here last weekend or anything. It's been a while. I wrote this review when I came home to save for when I was holed up in my home recuperating from having my 2nd knee replaced. I haven't been here in a VERY long time. I am thrilled to see that the only change is that it's gotten better. I brought a couple people who are always looking for a new breakfast place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They were really excited about the decor and the smell as soon as we walked in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got our drinks, and then checked out the menu. The couple I brought with me were from Kentucky and Ohio and they know their biscuits and gravy. When we go out we usually ask for a sample of the place's gravy. This was no exception. Our waiter was happy to bring us one. It was TOTALLY met with approval so they got an order of that with some bacon, an omelet and a frittata - that I believe had 2 cups of cheese on it. Ha! Ha! We ate very good. And while all of that was good I honestly could have sat and ate the crunchy bread they brought out from the get-go. When we were ready to go I noticed the table next to us got an order of fruit. I have sometimes been disappointed by the fruit that I have received at some places but there was so much bright and beautiful fruit in the bowl next to our table that I KNOW I will get that as a side next time. The only disappointing thing that happened was that once we got our food it seemed like we had been forgotten. I even turned around a couple times and saw our young waiter laughing it up with some of the other wait staff. But all in all the meal was wonderful! We OF COURSE stopped at the bakery side for some treats. I bought a key lime tart, a rhubarb tart, a poppyseed/lemon muffin and a blueberry scone. I also bought this nut and fruit roll up. It was small but man the flavor in that - it was amazing!!! We will ALL definitely be back!

    French onion soup.

I'm giving five stars for the bakery and 3.5 for the cafe. Bakery is spectacular. They have a huge assortment of cakes. Best of all, they have great options for those not wanting a lighter rather than a heavy, sweet, decadent cake. But, they have those, too. Huge assortment of macarons and they are spectacular. They are sweet and they have a slight crispness before the chewy center. Just excellent. Cafe is also good. Service and ambience are top notch and the menu has a lot of great items. But, quality of the food doesn't seem to match everything else. For instance, the French onion soup is more of the texture and consistency of a brown gravy rather than a rich beef broth. Not much in the way of onion, and the center was slightly cool. I believe Parmesan used to top the cup rather than a Gruyère, or something similar. It was fine, but I expected more. Le vol au Vent much the same. Terrific green. Eans and puff pastry, but the supreme sauce and mushroom just wasn't inspired. It was fine. With my criticism of the food, it should be noted that prices are very reasonable. I'd be happy to eat here again, but knowing I'm going to do the real damage in the bakery.

I honestly don't think there's a better cheesecake shop that I've encountered anywhere in my travels. The staff is generally very helpful and welcoming, with Lindsy in particular being a consistent standout at the front register over the years. I've been a loyal customer for a long time and have easily spent thousands of dollars on Hank's cheesecakes for both personal celebrations and professional events. The product itself has always been worth every penny. That said, I was disappointed to learn of the new policy charging $2 simply to slice a cheesecake. When purchasing a $25-$400+ cheesecake, an additional fee for a task that takes roughly 20 seconds feels unnecessary and, frankly, a bit off-putting. While I understand that rising costs are impacting businesses everywhere, this type of nickel-and-diming can feel discouraging--especially to long-standing, repeat customers who have consistently supported the business. Hank's Cheesecake remains exceptional, and the product is second to none. I hope management reconsiders this policy, as it slightly detracts from what has otherwise been an outstanding customer experience for many loyal patrons.

Well, I guess it's not really $10 worth of ice cream. Certainly, it's not $10 worth of ice cream by 1990s standards. Once, I could go get an entire tub of Schnucks store-brand mint chocolate chip with weirdly strong artificial flavoring (arguably the GOAT ice cream) with the change found between the seat cushions in the station wagon I used to drive. You'd die trying to eat $10 worth of that. Eventually, you might die eating Clementine's. It'll run you, but you get a lot of calories for your dollar. It might even be a good value, depending on how you look at it. They pack it into those little tubs, too. No Diddy. They fill the tub and then they pile it high on top. It's the ol' Five Guys strategy of charging you money out the ass and then giving you more food than you require, as if they're doing you a favor. Uh, thanks? All of the flavors I had were really good, but they were incredibly rich, to the point where after a while they get to be a bit much. They had a mouthfeel almost more along the lines of butter than the cheap ice cream I should be buying (I've been known to eat soft serve from QT), and I'm assuming that's because they have a nutritional profile that's not altogether different. As one of the girls from my running group pointed out, after a while the flavors all kinda run together. Part of it's that they actually melt into each other, and part of it's I'm sure just palette fatigue. I went with three scoops. The ideal order here might be two: enough that you don't feel ripped off, or that you came a long way for nothing, but not so much that you somehow develop delayed onset lactose intolerance in your 40s. Of the three flavors that I had, I liked the Salted Caramel Cookies + Cream, Heritage Mint Chip and Gooey Butter Cake, in that order. But you really can't go wrong with any of those. The Gooey Butter Cake is their signature, but I'm a mint chip brother, as previously discussed. The Salted Caramel Cookies + Cream might be their top flavor. It was my favorite of the ones that I tried, and a girl from our group whose opinion I trust said it's the best.

We started with the Korean fried cauliflower and it was honestly some of the best I've ever had. The batter was light, fluffy, and crispy, and the gochujang sauce with the mayo was sweet and sticky in the best way. Since it's a butchery, we had to try the steaks. I ordered the 4oz filet Oscar style. The meat was tender and very well seasoned, the crab was fresh, and the homemade hollandaise really pulled it all together. My husband had the ribeye. It was a flavorful cut, a little fatty (as ribeye tends to be), but exactly what you'd expect from that cut. The steaks come with a twice-baked potato and vegetable (or you can swap for different vegetables). The potato was flavorful but fairly dense. We also did the bread service - it was good, but felt a bit pricey for the portion. We ended with the flourless chocolate torte, which was very rich and the perfect way to finish the meal - especially on Valentine's Day. Overall, the food was good and the menu is solid. The quality was there, but the portions, bread service and sides didn't fully meet expectations. That said, it was still a lovely experience and a great date-night spot.
