I work nearby and I have supported this place since the day they opened. not only me, but I have directed many, many people to try this place. However, I walked in there and had to use the restroom. I was gonna order food for myself and my daughter, but had to use the restroom first. The lady at the counter would not allow me to use the restroom until I ordered because it's for "customers only" pretty damn pathetic. so I told her I'm gonna order food can I please use the restroom first and she said no it's for customers only you have to order. so I literally had to order a taco For her to hand me the key to the restroom. Simple fast casual Mexican food joint! It's ok- I got the grilled fish tacos and the fish itself is good but they overload with sour cream! It was so much I was pretty turned off. You can't even see my fish! The cool thing is they have protein style for tacos for $4 which means lettuce wrap! First time seeing that so that's pretty awesome! I've been here twice in the last couple of weeks. Both times I ordered through the website because I'm vegan and my order is always complicated. I don't want to make anybody miserable. Food is delicious. Can't knock the eats, but the customer service is awful. I walked in and they have a table where they put the to-go orders. I went to grab my order - which was labeled with my name. The woman working there scolded me. "Um, no! You need to sign something." Maybe don't put it out for me to grab then? Or have a sign? Or have the receipts by the food with pens so I can just sign off over there? Or just change your tone? It's okay to have your protocol, but I don't work there - so how am I supposed to know? I thought - okay, maybe it was an off day. It's not easy working in food service. I gave her a pass. Ordered again yesterday using my same method and when I got there, one of the ladies cooking in the back said that she didn't understand what I wanted. She said "there's nothing else i can put in the burrito if you take out the meat, cheese, and sour cream." I attached a screenshot to my review of their online menu when ordering burritos. I selected the following: No house cream No cheese No sour cream. It says I can only pick 3 - so doesn't that mean that all of the other items should be added in the burrito? It's not the question that bothered me. It's the sass. She followed up with "'maybe you can just order the veggie burrito next time, so you don't complicate things for us." I don't know who's managing this place. Maybe the problem is at the top. Be kind to your employees and they will be kind to the customers. Street Tacos - got the carne asada, pastor, and carnitas. They were all just okay. Baja Nachos (pastor) - The nachos were loaded and the crunchiness of the chips were great with all the toppings. Asada Fries - seemed lacking especially in comparison to the nachos. Also the fries were kinda soggy so not too appealing. The portions were big though. I never heard of La Bufadora Baja Grill it been around since 1998 there's many restaurants around L.A. serving Baja style cuisine like the traditional fish tacos and Mariscos or seafood in english. The best advice go to Ensenada for the fresh seafood and fish tacos but you have spent money to get there or find a restaurant that serve good Baja style cuisine. When they add La Bufadora Grill next to the 99 cent store I was very curious. First I never heard of La Bufadora Grill second does it bring the flavors of Baja and Ensenada and three when they going to open it took awhile to open but it open for business. My wife and I came to 99 cent store to shop after that we decided to eat at the La Bufadora Grill they good daily specials. We look at the menu on the display my wife decided to get the Carnes asada nachos and I decided to get a wet veggie burrito. The inside looks very nice and roomy. They call my name to pick up our meal our meals were in containers I didn't know how our meal wiil be. I open the container my wet burrito look so good and I took a bite wow the red sauce tasted very lots of flavors and my veggie burrito was amazing good lots of flavors and season well I really enjoy it. Been eating at La Bufadora for over 10 years. Loved their El Monte location. Not sure if they fell off or if it's just this Montebello one but I live closer and come here. Everytime I come my tacos, meat and tortillas are COLD. Everytime! It gets to a point where I stand there when picking up my food once my name is called and I touch the tacos before I even walk away, and as usual they're cold! Honestly bomb tacos. Came here for a quick takeout and got two grilled shrimp tacos, a battered fish tacos, and a pineapple aqua fresca. Very solid food all around, the tacos were cooked properly and not overly oily. I liked the grilled shrimp a lot the shrimp was jumbo sized and tasted very fresh. The pineapple juice was also refreshing and made the meal even better. Service was great too, the cashier was nice and the kitchen staff were also very fast and efficient at making the food. The Baja shrimp taco was perfection, a mouth full of flavors when you add the red sauce and take a bite of the Chile güero. I also got the fish ceviche which had great flavor & ended up adding in the left over red sauce making it a spicy ceviche. For the drink, I got a Jamaica which was very refreshing. I was invited here for a Yelp Elite promotion and was offered three options: burrito, three potato tacos, or 2 fish and 1 shrimp tacos. Each option included any of their drinks which on the menu ranged from 2.50 to 3.00. I arrived here at 6:45 pm and had the impression that it was going to close at 8 pm. However, the cashier said they were closing early that day (in 15 minutes) so that caught me a little bit by surprise. I think they will need to update their website as it caught a few other customers after me by surprise. Looking for vegetarian options at Mexican restaurants can be challenging, so tacos and tortas are usually out of the question. However, the potato taco seemed pretty intriguing to me, but given that I wanted some extra calories as I was about to go to karate training in the next hour, I opted for a burrito (their veggie variety). The cashier was fairly friendly, and when I made my choice, she asked what drink I wanted. Since I'm not really into drinking sugary drinks these days, I asked her kindly if I could replace the drink with something of equal or less value such as their $2.00 potato taco. She asked her manager, but after his response, she declined to make the substitution. This was a little bit of a bummer as I wanted to really evaluate their potato taco. So regarding the burrito, I was pretty satisfied with the quality. The tortilla skin is a dark beige color and pretty thin, so I didn't feel like I was overwhelmed by the carbs from an oversized shell. The filling had a pretty high ratio of beans and cooked veggies (bell peppers, onions) relative to rice which was nice. The sauce was their red sauce, which was supposed to be their spiciest variety. Personally I would have preferred a little more kick. They also include a salted chili relleno to complement your meal. As far as nutrition goes, I think this burrito was not a bad choice. Overall I enjoyed the food here, and would have upgraded my rating to 5 stars if the manager was more flexible in offering the substition of the drink for the potato taco, especially if many of the drinks were $1.50 more than the taco! read more

Oh and the fact that they would name the restaurant "LA BUFADORA BAJA GRILL" and not have one picture or object that represents Baja made this place even more of a joke.
