I can kick myself for not dining here sooner. After about 1 year in the neighborhood, I stopped by here for a bite and ended up having one of the finest Italian meals I've had outside of Italy. Their marinara sauce is sweet, not acidic, and perfectly seasoned and very fresh. Their pasta is also homemade. I had the ravioli and my boyfriend had the fettucini carbonara with a yummy alfredo sauce and slices of real-deal proscuitto (or maybe it was speck - either way, yummy charcuterie). The interior is half pizzeria and half family restaurant but it did remind me of the hole-in-the-wall family cafe's you'd find in Rome or Florence. I have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. My latest obsession is their vodka pie, which is served with fresh mozzarella and a sesame seed crust. It is to die for. As much as I love eating from here whether it's, dining in or out, they're not the place to attend on a holiday. First time I chose to attend this place for a family dinner on Mother's Day and never again will I make this same mistake twice. Besides the fact I made reservations 3 days in advance, my party arrived prior to everyone else's party on the date of the reservations and other people were seated before us which completely a slap in the face because, I'm sure I've given this restaurant more business in the last 3 years than any of these other people. After being seated, it took almost 30 minutes just to get a glass of water to each guest at the table, regardless of us asking for water on 2 prior occasions. It also seemed as if we were being rushed to order and the bus-girl seemed like she didn't want to be there. The food was delicious as usual but the service was definitely one of the worst I've ever experienced anywhere. Towards the end of our outing, one guest at my table had requested a cup of tea and it took almost 25 minutes just to get a hot cup of tea over to the table (this was after asking the bus-girl who then seemed to forget to bring it over so we asked the server who brought it over the very next second). I always order from here even though there is always a minimum of a one hour delivery. The prices are a bit much but if the quality is there then I don't mind. I ordered 2 pasta dishes 2 slices and a spinach roll 56.00 dollars and 1 1/2 hr later I receive the order, one pasta dish has linguini not spaghetti, our son goes crazy because he wants spaghetti not linguini my husband calls the place... they put him on hold for 10 min and their explanation is they ran out of spaghetti.... why wasn't I called? Where can I start , well for one fresh Italian food . Excellent sauce amazing cheese . They were busy but all so friendly! Everything I order has always been wonderful; soups, salads, appetizers, pizza or entrees. My favorite dish is the veal marsala with spinach, my favorite soup is spinach tortellini with mushroom and prosciutto, my favorite appetizer is the fried calamari, my favorite pizza is brick oven and my favorite salad is arugula salad. Warm bread and butter starts the experience. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, the staff is attentive and almost like family. I don't normally eat Italian food, but this place is pretty decent. You might think that it's just another pizzeria when you walk in, but be prepared to be impressed by the selections the menu have. The food is no different from more expensive Italian restaurants in Manhattan. Once you sit down, you'll begin to feel like you're at the comfort of your own home. The food portion is very generous, freshly made and well-presented. The price is pretty cheap too. All the entrees come with a side of salad, pasta or 2 potato croquettes. They don't just give you a tiny plate of side, but hefty and filling portions. The complimentary Italian bread is warm and crispy, they're delicious with the butter. We ordered several dishes last time we were here. All the dishes exceeded our expectations. We had : - Baked clams (pretty fresh and I just love dipping the bread into the olive oil) - Linguini with white clam sauce (the whole plate is full of clams, it was very satisfying. We had to wrap it up so we can continue to enjoy it from home because the portion is huge and we were not able to finish it) - Chicken Sorrentino (The creamy sauce complements well with the layers of chicken, prosciutto and eggplants, it was just succulent. I was already full after finishing one piece, but my mouth ain't telling me to stop so I ended up gobbling down the other piece). - Chocolate mousse cake (nice and smooth, not too sweet and love the chocolaty crust!) - Of course, there's no reason not to try their pizza. We grabbed a slice and it's got a nice consistent crust. The ingredients are very fresh as well. I will certainly come back again. It's a bit out of the way but there are a couple of bus routes that will get you there just fine (B6, B82, B3, B64) and there's a bus stop right in front of the place. How convenient is that? It's located at a relatively quiet residential neighborhood so finding a parking spot should be relatively easy as well.
