I went around dinner time, and I am not sure if they were sold out, but all I saw were thick square slices and thick round pies. That was a little strange since this is a Brooklyn spot and the round pies are usually thin, NYC style. I took the dive and ordered one of the thicker round slices with chicken and broccoli to stay. The person working the counter was nice and very friendly, but the slice was not heated properly when it was served. The chicken was still kind of cold and firm, and the dough was thick without much crisp to it except the crust but it was the kind of crispy that cuts up your gums if you know what I mean. If you are really craving pizza after shopping at Target or Best Buy, this place might do the job, but it is definitely not for everyone. read more

I decided to try a baked pasta as I only had their pizza and garlic knots. Wanted something new and I seen other customers with large bowls of pasta. This is a pretty long running pizza place do they have a few other locations so I'm not sure if this one's been here since 1998 (presumably the one with 300 reviews but whatever.) Place was pretty crowded with a lot of families with kids. I don't remember seeing the prices on top but there are old photos with the prices so maybe I just misread it or something but I swear they weren't on top or else I likely wouldn't have ordered two slices with toppings. Anyway, I ordered a spinach mushroom slice as well as a penne slice because I was in the mood to do something odd and the two slices combined were $10 which was a bit surprising but they do top their slices with a lot of said toppings. They heated and served with the woman splitting the slices ordered which was a unique touch. In terms of toppings, I could slightly taste the sauce flavor from the penne and it wasn't dry like most other spots which made it a good amount better while the spinach mushroom was fine. Outside of the toppings, the crust of the pizza was a tad thick for my liking though apparently they make the topping slices thicker according to another review and the sauce was a tad sweet. Man I haven't been here for over 20 years. This was my place in the late 90's when there was an arcade next door. You'd play and come get pizza afterwords. Not much has changed since. I went with a deep dish pepperoni slice and a fresh mozzarella thin slice. The winner for me was the fresh mozzarella slice. The slice was drizzled with some kind of garlic and oil mix which really made it amazing. When I used to live in Brooklyn I would frequent this spot often as a meal after shopping. Target runs would result in pizza runs inside of pizza d'amore. After moving I've realized the thing I missed most from pizza d'amore wasn't their pizza slices or garlic knots and not the spinach pinwheels. But the wings ! I swear I can never get wings as crispy and as seasoned as this place. My family can contest this as well , we've gone to the extent as to ordering four portions of wings with Buffalo sauce on the side. I personally don't enjoy eating them as I am a carb girl and will go for the pizza and garlic knots before the wings but I must say. The winner truly are the wings, if you ever come and want something to pair alongside with your slice I highly recommend getting an offer of wings. As for the pizza I would say it's average and decent. The plain cheese slice is thin and crispy , not too filling and the slices are moderately sized. For a very long time, whenever I visited the Caesar's Bay Shopping Plaza, I would catch Pizza D'Amore with the corner of my eye as I walked into a store. It sat in the corner by Modells and I always ignored it ... until finally my hunger caught up with me on a Sunday afternoon. My wife and I walked in after some errands and, to my surprise, the restaurant was packed. There were a few booths left and some stool seats. Although the place is not too big, there are plenty of seating booths inside to accommodate the many shoppers coming in for a meal. Once we walked in, we could see all of the pre-made topping pizzas sitting behind the counter. There was a pretty good variety of different pizzas, including, spinach, eggplant, mushroom, sausage, pepperoni, ham and pineapple, just to name a few. Besides pizza, they also made different appetizers, rolls, heros, salads and wraps. For us? We were craving pizza and that's what we went with. I won't go into detail about the toppings of the pizzas we ordered, except that they definitely don't skimp on toppings, so you'll get your money's worth if you go with a pizza with toppings. On the other hand, we did notice something odd about their pizza with toppings versus their regular slices. The regular slices were thinner and less doughy, while the pizzas with toppings had a very thick bottom crust. It wasn't really a problem, but it felt like it didn't need it. We preferred pizzas with thinner crust and believed the pizzas with toppings would have tasted better if they didn't have thick crusts. With the lack of meal options in Caesars Bay, especially pizza, Pizza D'Amore is going to really win out with the kids. By no means is it a bad food option. I have always seen this place while walking around Caesar bay and never had a chance to try it. Finally decided to buy pizza for my family and came here for the very first time today. Overall, the pizza was pretty good. The slices weren't super thick but it was definitely laden with cheese and the other toppings I had asked for (AND THEY DID IT CORRECTLY THANK YOU T_T - because my family likes plain but i like pepperoni and mushroom so they did half and half with the pie. sometimes, other pizza places do half pepperoni on one side and mushroom on the other and it's just.....sad beucase my family won't eat it ): ). Two firsts for me tonight. I never leave a bad review and I never fail to tip for delivery. Up until tonight this was my go to place. Now I am done with them. Food arrived an hour late. I was ok with that. Delivery guy calls and tells me I'm not home. I have to come down to lobby to get food. I was ok with that. I get down to lobby had to wait for elevator I'm on 9th floor. Delivery guy gives my order to some guy in the lobby. I had to chase down this guy for my food. Delivery guy does not apologize and gives me an attitude. I don't eat cheese so I come in here once in a while to grab garlic knots, zepolis or chicken fingers which are really good, especially the garlic knots with marinara sauce. Tonight I called to pick up the knots and asked them if they can make a plate of grilled chicken for my little fur buddy and asked for minimal or no seasonings. As usual the knots were amazing, but they cut the chicken into tiny pieces for my dog and I found that to be really nice. The workers are also very friendly. I definitely recommend this pizzaria. I've been eating at pizza d'amore for years, a fan of their thin Sicilian slice I've gotten it since I'm a kid with the original owners. But I don't know who's baking now but the last two times I've ordered it the pizza was very very well done. Not burnt but just under. All the cheese and I mean all the cheese was browned and crusted over, the sauce was dried out and the crust overcooked. Very disappointed as a life long customer that the quality has dropped so significantly. This place had quick service and ample tables to eat. 1 of the entrance double doors isnt working. Bathroom is tiny. Make sure to bring your own soap and toilet paper. I ordered a large pepperoni for take-out. Pizza was ok, I definitely had better pizza. The crust sucked. There was little to no sauce on it, but I like my pizzas like that (very little sauce). They do add very generous portions of cheese on it, which I enjoyed. All that aside, I believe the Health Department should take a look at this place. My biggest complaint is that 2 of the food handlers where also handling cash/credit cards. Money is one of the dirtiest, if not the dirtiest thing there is on this earth. I have no idea why they dont have 1-3 people handing orders and 1 person at the cash register. 2 of the guys would grab food with both hands, handle cash, then handle food again without washing their hands. Pathetic.... Luckly for me, the one that made my pizza wasnt handling cash. The person that was handling the bigger orders (delivery and take-out) was a Mexican. This dude looked funny. I have been going to this pizza joint for many years. Now being a Brooklynite I can't help feeling guilty that I love these deep dish pies so much lol. This pizzeria is located in the shopping center of Caesar's Bay. The restaurant is always clean, the staff is always friendly, helpful, and professional. The owner is always present and still on top of his game. I have tried everything they make in this restaurant. But I find myself ordering the margarita slice more times than not. Sandwiches are good as well as their rolls. Honestly the only thing they need work on are their mozzarella sticks. But it's not bad enough to give this establishment less than 5 stars.
