Just picked up 10 pupusas at 99 cents each to go!!! They were made fresh and it was about a 15 minute wait. Not bad at all. Had to get a side of platanos con frijol y crema. Delicious!!! I got pupusas revueltas (chicharon, queso y frijol) and also cheese pupusas for the kids. The guy who took my order was very friendly and funny. It is a brand new restaurant so maybe it has a lot to do with the food quality. The pupusa's are great no complaints they're full of the ingredients they're supposed to have not just though. Pretty fresh. The other food items I got not so fresh I got a Menudo that tasted like container it tasted days old. I got a taco de Carnitas de tasted like old oil I did not get salsa for them as I requested. The taquitos Hondureno's were soggy and tasteless. I was really looking forward to the spot as it's is close to home. Really disappointed with the food quality at this time. Again that might be because it is a new restaurant not a lot of traffic here yet so maybe they have to store their items longer but as a pain customer I would not pay for this food again. read more

Aside from that both my parents got kicked out by management and were told they couldn't eat at the restaurant even though it was empty and 90 degrees outside all because that's why the special is togo bc customers aren't allow to eat that dish there. Always on the lookout for good Salvadoran restaurants - happy to report that La Ceiba earns a spot on that list. Located in the Long Beach/Signal Hill area. Fresh, fairly large pupusas. If you're ordering the 20 pupusas for 99¢ each deal, then they're smaller, about the size of a palm. Curtido would be better if it were spicier. Fried bananas were delicious, not greasy or burnt. Overall, we enjoyed everything we ordered. Air conditioning situation could be better, especially on a hot day like today. As for the wait: on a Friday morning, it took 15, maybe 20, minutes to receive our sizable order. That's actually really good timing for a Salvadoran place. You have to be ready to wait at these establishments; pupusas aren't ready in seconds. Friendly service, vibrant decor. Difficult to find parking, but worth the inconvenience once you get those cheesy, meaty chunks of stuffed tortilla in your mouth. read more

Abel Jr. , Sandra, Jocelyn, and last but definitely not least, Mr. & Mrs. Salazar always go above and beyond to make us feel so welcome. The Salazar's maKe you feel like you're part of the family. The chips and salsa are delicious. I probably take down a few baskets of chips and several bowls of salsa each time. The papusas...my, oh my. They're all delicious but my favorite is the cheese. The best part is the cheese that oozes out of the papusa only to become a deliciously fried cheese bite. If you're looking for soup. I highly recommend the caldo de pollo. The chicken itself is so flavorful. I have to say Mrs.Salazar makes some damn good soup (Sorry, Mom)! Bonus: karaoke nights! I was on the search for a restaurant for my wife and I to have my birthday dinner at. A couple places that we hadn't yet been to were closed Mondays but La Ceiba was open and I had heard good things about it. Boy the reviews don't do this place justice! It's a very rare occasion that I feel like I'm family at a restaurant, but that's exactly how they make you feel. I had a "It's Halloween and my birthday" shirt on and Abel immediately offered me a beer on the house. After we sat down they brought out an appetizer plate, also on the house which had a couple empanadas on it (so good!) as well as plantains, chips and an awesome Verde salsa. Our order was a Chile relleno burrito, nachos and 2 chicharrones pupusas. Everything was excellent and we took plenty home with us. They gained not only 2 new customers but also 2 friends. I visited this establishment on around 6pm on National Margarita Day. The inside is quaint, plenty of seating for families, and a full bar. There was one other group other than us sitting across the restaurant, as well as a single man eating his dinner, and another man sitting solo at the bar. My friends and I were seated right away at a table near the window. Near, like as in the backs of our chairs were literally on the wall. It was drafty and cold. Not one of us ever took our coat off. I went to scoot my chair in and touched some sticky substance that was on the chair. I then moved my feet to see that they were also sitting in something very sticky. Our server took our drink orders immediately. I ordered a mango margarita on the rocks. They were on special for $3 (normal price $8). Shortly after our server left to make our drinks, the sole man at the bar started singing karaoke, which is hooked up to the entire restaurants sound system. A large speaker was hooked onto the ceiling near our table and the singing was so loud we literally had to *yell* to talk to each other. We asked if it could be turned down, but they didn't oblige. The Drinks: We ordered two round of Margaritas during our stay. The first round I watched as our server made our drinks by herself behind the bar. I swear I did not see her pour alcohol at all, but rather just fill our drinks to the brim with the mixer. We received our drinks and, unsurprisingly, they were very sweet. The mango margarita had Tajín around the rim of the glass and an excessive amount at the bottom(???) of my drink. It was extremely salty, especially as my drink got warmer and the Tajín dissolved from the bottom. The others got regular lime on the rocks and strawberry blended. We all tried each other's and everything tasted good because it was sweet, but we were very skeptical because there was definitely no tequila taste (which everyone knows has a very specific flavor, especially with cheap margarita mix). We gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe they premixed the tequila within the mixer. So we ordered another round and once again we saw no tequila poured into our glasses, the drinks were sweet, and we all felt incredibly sober. The Food: We ordered 20 pork & cheese and bean & cheese pupusas for $20. The insides of both flavors were stuffed very meagerly, but along with their cabbage and sauce both tasted good. However, because they did not fully stuff them, the outer edges of the pupusas tasted undercooked so we had to rip the edges off (see picture). Overall: The service was slow despite there being very few guests dining, the food was mediocre, and after TWO margaritas we felt 100% sober. My recommendation: There are soo many other Central/South American food joints around here. I do not recommend patronizing this specific one. read more

La Ceiba caught our eye as we were driving to another restaurant because of the 99 cent pupusas sign outside. We decided to stop in on a whim and were glad that we did. The interior is very casual, and it is pretty much a low key hole in the wall place. But we all know that those can be the best sometimes! They serve Mexican and Salvadoran food, and it seemed like the 2 owners were the ones taking care of us. They were showing a soccer game on the tv and the restaurant was full. Once the game ended, a few of the regulars began to sing karaoke in Spanish which we found to be a fun little surprise. You are started out with chips and a spicy but tasty red salsa. We ordered a Michelada which was huge and even had the candy straw. While the Mexican food and mariscos (seafood) offerings looked good, we both went with the pupusas. The 99 cent version is about the size if your palm, and we had one of those but we both agreed that we preferred the larger version. The larger version is really filling and full of tasty meat and cheese. My favorites were the Pupusas de Revueltas: cheese and pork, and the one filled with chicken and cheese. There is so much delicious cheese that it just oozes out. I love this little neighborhood spot and will definitely be back. read more

It's super laid back and casual. I love these local owned businesses. Street parking could be a challenge, or not, depending on the time of day. La Ceiba hands down is the best place for pupusas. i get two of the revueltas and two of cheese. On Tues, Thurs and Fri they have small pupusas for 99 cents each! I'm sold! I called in my order ahead of time to pick up. No lines, just a few people inside watching the soccer game. I thought this place only accepted cash but was able to pay by card. If you want chicken pupusas, these are on the regular menu and NOT for 99 cents. They are $4.00 a piece. read more

Usually stop by on Sunday mornings with the fam for breakfast. It's pretty empty around 1030am. Our favorite are the pupusas of course, cheese and revueltas are our musts. My husband has ordered their breakfast baleadas which is a home made thick flour tortilla with beans, steak and scrambled eggs, delicious. Their Bistec encebollado is amazing as well, very tender and full of flavor. I usually phone order their 99 cent pupusas to take to pot lucks. You can't beat the price and they are the perfect size to enjoy 2 to 3 without the guilt Everything is freshly made so be prepared to wait an average of 15 to 20 minutes for your order. The staff has always been extremely nice and attentive. As long as this is the quality of food and service we receive we will continue being loyal customers. read more

Ordered 50 pupusas today for a coworker b day. Since we brought more than 20, we got each pupusas .99. To add on, in order to have food deliver, you would have to place an order of more than $35.00. Placed the order Friday night and the person on the other line was very helpful. We ordered pork and cheese pupusas and bean and chese pupusas. The day of the luncheon, the delievery person came on time. They packed the pupusas neatly in two half tray. They also included 2 large side of cabages and 2 large red sauce. One of the best spots to get pupusas. I dont mind to drive 30min to go eat there. This week along we have been there 3 times. Bad things: -lately they are being stingy with the amount of curtido and salsa they gave you for "togo" orders, today I had to fight to get 2 more little bags for my $40 order. -They are always late on to go orders. They tell you they will be ready in 25-30min. You get there in 40min and still need to wait another 10min. If they fix these 2 things I'll probably give the 5 stars. read more

Wow. Lord help. One word of advice. Wear stretchy pants. That's how good the food is. The pupusas were great and big. The curtido was crisp and fresh and perfect. The sauce was on point. I got this Honduran fried chicken called pollo de fajadas. This chicken was broasted and soooooo juicy. The fried plantains were sweet and like candy. The chips and salsa were great too. I was super impressed with this place. I was craving some Caribbean food and found this place (of course) on YELP! I was pleasantly surprised that they offer delivery but I opted to do take-out since it was my first time and I wasn't familiar with the menu items. The staff was very friendly, efficient and patient in translating some of the menu items and listing the ingredients. I chose the typical breakfast with the sausage just by the picture in the menu (most of the time, my eyes don't lie. Like Andrew Zimmern says "If it looks good, eat it") and boy were my eyes right. It was flavorful and deeliscious. The staff also informed me that the Pupusas were only .99cents (Tues, Wed & Thurs) which I opted for 4; 2 cheese and 2 pork and cheese which were made fresh while I waited so you can just imagine how amazing and authentic they tasted. I left a review at the wrong restaurant lol this was written 4 days ago for THIS RESTAURANT!! (We went Tuesday evening) Literally left this restaurant like 0.5 seconds ago. First off, the service was amazing. I love supporting family owned businesses, but to be honest I fail to leave yelp reviews. This place was just so different, the vibe was amazing and our server (the son) was hilarious and checking up on us. Not only did he have really good customer service, but his mother, one of the cooks/owners of the restaurant came out and spoke to us. Very loving lady!! My in laws got the Caldo de res and they were very happy with how good it was and fresh. The hand made tortillas that came with it was also a plus for them. I got pupusas one cheese and one chicharron with cheese. I didn't realize they were gonna be huge! Those were made with LOVE. Filled with cheese and the tortilla was a great mix of soft yet crunchy on the bottom. They also out kindness brought out a little appetizer plate with little empanadas, fried plantains, and tortilla chips with different little dips. Everything was honestly so very good! Came across this place on a last minute yelp find and craving pupusas. i had $5 in my pocket and gave them a call to see what a bean and cheese pupusa cost. It's monday so they are $2.25 each, BUT on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays they are only $1!! She told me when i came to pick up that if i ordered 20 or more, that they would still apply the $1 rate. What a deal! Not that I think I could eat 20 pupusas, but still.
