Everything you want in a croissant rich buttery flavor crispy and flaky on the outside with wonderful layers of goodness on the inside. We came here just for coffee and pastries but I thought I'd grab something more substantial because we had a flight to catch. I got their BLT. It was the most beautiful sandwich I've ever seen. Toasted light flaky croissant with thick slabs of bacon and tomato with crispy iceberg lettuce. It was a hidden gem. Try it out. Got a potato soup to go with it and it was very creamy and tasty. Can you say perfect lunch? My only gripe was that the girl at the counter was doing something wrong because she said my card had insufficient funds when I was able to use it fine without any problems both before and after my visit. I had to switch to another card and I was checking with her to see if she was ready for me to insert the card and before I inserted it she said "oh that card says insufficient funds too". Absolutely delicious. It was our last day in Denver, we just checked out of our hotel and we were on our way to the airport. We had some time to stop by for coffee and breakfast. I believe they were in the process of moving to a new location so they didn't have indoor seating here. We both did a byo breakfast sandwich on a croissant. The croissant was absolutely yum! I recently came here with a friend to pick up some breakfast, and it was a borderline-euphoric experience. I got a cream puff which was great, and I got an egg croissant sandwich which was the euphoria-inducing dish. I normally get my eggs scrambled, but I didn't specify or ask, and when I got the sandwich it was a classic fried egg (with the other additions I made). And I've been a fool. The toppings (including cheese), croissant and egg came together beautifully. Especially the egg yolk was cooked just right so that it made the dish luxurious. If you looking for a quick breakfast sandwich, La Fillette offers an amazing "Build Your Own" croissant sandwich. As soon as you're close to the door, you can smell all the delicious pastries and breads they bake at this bakery. You're allowed 3 items which can range from different veggies, meats and cheeses. You could come here several times and still get a different sandwich each time based off how many toppings they offer. As for the taste: buttery, flaky crust that melted as soon as you took a bite. I enjoyed La Fillette! Came in on a Monday morning and ordered a green tea and a Ham & Cheese croissant. The ham and cheese croissant was absolutely delicious. Perfectly flaky and buttery. the BYO breakfast sandwich was exactly what i wanted! the croissant was perfect. crunchy on the exterior, very soft but "hearty" on the inside. hearty meaning, it stood up to bacon, a runny egg, & spinach/tomato without falling apart while eating. ahh, soo tasty. the hot chocolate was also delicious, but very unexpected! its made w whole milk & it tastes like salted carmel. so if thats not your vibe, heads up. the other pastries left a lil something to be desired. id go back though to try something else! read more

We came here on a Saturday at 9am. Perfect timing, plenty of seating. This was not the case an hour or so later when we left. Lost in conversation, we looked up to find people waiting outside so we decided to bid adieu. If you go here and sit down to eat, you MUST get the duck confit benedict with green chili on a croissant English muffin OR your taste buds may be disappointed. It sounds very creative & might be too much but all the flavors went together so well...almost orgasmically well but I can't say that on yelp. Let's keep it PG rated shall we? Moving on they are known for their delicious butter croissants which is a must, with or without almonds is fine. We also tried the tiramisu muffin and it was so good. It wasn't so sweet and enough buttery/saltiness for me. The coconut macaroon was good but way to big for me. You could tell that they must have a coconut tree in the kitchen that they get coconuts from everyday and grate it for this cocoball masterpiece which my friend gladly scarfed down. my friend had the quiche which she quickly devoured! Today I got 2 pastries, the morning bun and a butter croissant. A cortado and shirley temple for drinks. The cortado was made wildly incorrect and tasted way too milky. the ratio was just bad and incorrect of espresso to milk. The pastries were overpriced and extremely dry. You're better off going to bakery four for an extreme wait or Get rights. The ordering was confusing and wait staff genuinely think it's ok to treat to go order customer stupid as if most bakeries do not do grab and go orders. They made us to feel as if we were in their space because we stood in front of a pastry case. The layout of the building is terrible and customer service is judgemental. Would not recommend for ambiance either which couldn't save them from extremely mediocre and overpriced items. They could improve by enjoying business whichever way it comes and not treating customers as if they can't take a to go order at an extremely slow hour. I am not sure if we had an off day or the community expectations are low. The baguette was heavy, dense and sour. A baguette crust should crackle when squeezed with a balance of small and large holes. The one we bought did not have a proper rise and texture. The almond croissant layers were crispy and flaky. Unfortunately there was so much almond paste which caused the layers to under bake and so much paste was inedible. The worst offender of all was the galette. This poor pastry suffered from being under baked and soggy crust. There was very little taste in the dough and filling. Certainly there is a large fan contingency based on these reviews and the long line. If you enjoy their product, by all means continue to support. I have had much better. read more

In trying to find the best quiche in the downtown area I got referred to a neat bakery I'd never before seen. Tucked alongside what used to be the CU Med Center complex on East 8th Ave. around Birch you'll find a small storefront shop called "La Fillette." They've got parking in the back and the place clearly is a neighborhood favorite. Went in last weekend and asked if they had any quiche. The loud "oui" told me I might be on to something. Quiche Lorraine and vegetable quiche were the choices of the day and since I've been taste-testing quiche Lorraine when it's available to keep my testing protocol constant that's what I ordered. Gotta say the baked goods look Parisian-perfect . . . and I like the compromise they use in trying to quickly reheat the quiche (they stick it in a microwave to remove the cold and then finish it off in their high temp oven which re-crisp-ifies the crust). So the quiche comes out properly warmed to proper serving temperature. The problem is that there just wasn't the depth of flavor one associates with the taste of quiche Lorraine. The best qL demonstrates the earthy fullness of the Gruyere coming through the nutmeg-touched filling accented by savory pieces of bacon and shallots (or onions/scallions). At La Fillette, the filling was unfortunately muted so much that the flavor fell a little flat. Not 3-star flat, but just not 5-star delicious. That said, their quiche is nothing to scoff at and I'll probably go back when in the area and hope I simply hit them on the day that the chef was just a bit too stingy with the Gruyere and nutmeg. I thought the chocolate was excellent for a croissant, they're airy and crispy outer shell is phenomenal but I wouldn't get the chocolate again simply bc it's not the wow! The coffee was delicious as well and the seasonal poptart was a little too sweet for my liking but if you like bakery tarts it's delicious. Nailing it! I ordered a few yum-yums to-go. Ham&cheese croissant - yes. 10/10 would order again. Perfectly flaky, very thin delicate layers. Can a croissant be too flaky? The outer layer flaked like toasted tissue paper. VERY delicious but made it a little messy to eat on the go or in a car. Pop-tart pastry- tender, buttery crust (not a heavy doughy pie crust I've experienced elsewhere in a "poptart"). Outside- light sugar glaze so every bite is delish, even without filling. The filling! Todays flavor was orange creamsicle. Definitely fresh orange curd - smooth, flavorful, fresh orange flavor. Not sticky or gummy or dry. Cinnamon roll - yeeeeup! Moist, tender. Right amount of gooey cinnamon center. Generous and amazing cream cheese frosting. Def a shareable. Eclair - one of my all-time favorite pastries, but least fave of this order. Not wrong, just not my fave. The choux is piped long and skinny. Fully browned, slightly crisp bite, but one-dimensional "browned" flavor, left a sort of "fishy" taste in my mouth. I really love a fatter choux shell with the slightly browned exterior and contrasting paler/tender interior. Filling - great flavor, consistency somewhere between crème anglaise and undercooked crème brûlée. I was looking for something more substantial like Bavarian crème. Topped with very thin, runny chocolate glaze, not hardened at all. I prefer a thicker ganache like chocolate topping. With the exception of Eclair, I'd order it all again! Excited to try the breakfast sandwich everyone's raving about. My bill was $20 for the four pastries, which seems fairly priced. I saw other reviews warning of overpricing. I'd agree if these were frozen Sysco pastries (which lots of places sell for the same price). I got the chocolate croissant but the bread is so good I want to go back and try the plain and almond versions. Their cinnamon roll is "life changing" according to my fiancé and I have to agree. Chocolate chip cookie is very moist and chewy. A little too sweet for me but nonetheless still very very good. Cuban sandwich was incredibly good. And well portioned! Wowwy WOW! I will start off by saying that this review would have gotten a full five stars, however, I knocked it down to 4 because of the costumer service. My friend and I walked into La Fillette out from the cold, but you would not have thought that there was any temperature change due to the icy service provided from the cashier. As with any new place, it takes a minute for someone to look at their surroundings and assess what the specific environment is like. La Fillette has a beautiful pastry case chock full of the drool worthy croissants and galettes. It also has a Build Your Own Breakfast Sandwich option, which takes time to consider your options. Before my friend and I. could take in everything that was going on at La Fillette, after just walking through the door, the cashier so rudely ask, "do you know what you want?" It made me want to turn around and walk out of the bakery immediately. We ordered regardless since my friend and I came all the way from the other side of Denver! SO, that being said, the other 4 stars live up to all the potential! We ended up ordering two breakfast sandwiches that were loaded with all the good stuff including a perfectly cooked egg! We also ordered an almond croissant and a chocolate croissant that we saved for breakfast the next day. Even a full 24 hours later, with just a couple of seconds nuked, these croissants were TO. DIE. FOR! Perfectly flaky with the perfect amount of filling.
