It's so good it should be illegal. I entered with the notion of buying a couple of pastries and be out. That's not what happened. I was infused into the atmosphere as soon as I walked in and was greeted. I chose to sit at the counter-height bar where Peter was stationed. I went with a build your own sandwich- cibatta, over med eggs, bacon jam, and spinach. It was bomb. I enjoyed an espresso that had blueberry notes and looked at their happy hour menu. Everyone was friendly. The place was sparkling clean, and the layout really worked. As you walk in, there is an open area on your left where the magic aka baking happens. The kitchen is towards the back. There's a pastry case dividing the area, which displays some of the fresh options for you to enjoy. The floor opens to the right with seating. There's plenty of room inside and outdoor seating as well. I brought home an almond croissant. It was amazing. Great brunch at a great bakery. The very definition of comfort food. The Rosti is very crispy and came out fresh and hot. The Gruyère béchamel was fantastic. Brunch burger had an almost perfect smash patty on a croissant bun. With an egg on top and green chili hollandaise tying a bow on the decadence. Worth a try if you're looking for a fun brunch. Came for breakfast and was delighted. We had Cash as our waiter and he was super friendly and on top of it. We started with mocha and cappuccino and both were amazing. This place used to be my go-to for pastries when located on 8th Street however I have to say, I am not a fan of the new location. We love a weekend morning pastry take-out that we bring home and savor over coffee and the newspaper. The new location is designed to maximize seating, with little attention paid to take-out. To order take-out now you must go to the bar and order and they bring out you order. The downsides are when the bar is busy, squeezing in between other patrons to get the attention of the bartender is reminiscent of a bad club. Also, there is no place to wait while the order is being prepared. An alternative is to just order in advance online and do a pick-up but I love to look at the selection and make my choice of the day. Great products but the ambiance makes for an uncomfortable experience. read more

This was our second visit, and I can officially say this is the best brunch in Denver. It is a hidden gem in the Mayfair area of Colfax, in a strip mall. Do not be deceived by this. Inside its super city and cozy, all of the staff are incredibly kind and helpful. But the food. O.M.G. We've had the breakfast sandwich that is out of this world, some pastries (they make home made pop tarts, muffins and muffin croissants) among many other things. Brunch today was literally perfect. The BLAT was buttery, soft and I don't know what they do to that bacon but with the garlic aioli, I didn't want it to end. The rosti was crispy and creamy cheese perfection . I sat at the counter and had outstanding experience from Duke who was quick with a refill, friendly, and really nice to someone who came in their moving clothes (I looked a mess). All the waitstaff was really friendly and helpful. The service alone is 5 stars. I also loved my meal. The salad was perfectly dressed, had fresh mandarins, and greens. The garlic aioli and fresh bacon on my BLT was chef's kiss. My fries were hot and fresh. 5-star food. I would recommend a different bread choice for your BLT, that was order error. Amazing meal. We started with a kouign amann and a coffee. Kouign amann is my favorite pastry and La Fillette knocked it out of the park. It was so light and airy it was heaven in every bite. I also loved my duck confit eggs benedict. The hollandaise sauce was rich and flavorful as well as slightly creamier than typical sauce. The croissant muffin underneath hands down is the best way to go. I'm not a huge English muffin fan but their croissant style option was fluffy and airy and paired so well with all the other flavors and textures. This spot is definitely a must try. read more

OMG Yes. Ate here today with a friend for the first time (she's been a fan since the prior location). And *WOW* really just sums it up. Very cute interior, spot on and attentive service (coffee and water refills galore). We shared a Rosti with gruyere cheese which was fantastically prepared and entirely decadent (and happily for my normally gruyere-hating friend, not too pungent). I got the Quiche Lorraine which came with a nicely composed side salad (citrus, fennel, greens). The quiche had a lovely flaky crust and a perfectly custardy interior. My friend got the hash (corned beef) which was comes on top of rosti rather than mixed potatoes; it was a generous size. I got an almond croissant to go, which honestly feels life changing--just every bit of delicate, crunchy, shard-like goodness laminated dough should be, with a generous swath of almond filling. (It may be best to eat this alone with both hands and no judgment.) One small thing to note, they do not have an area to just order pastries or bread to go, so if you are looking for that, just place an order online beforehand. read more

I love a good morning bun and was stoked to try La Fillette's! Unfortunately the bun was not what I expected quality-wise, seemingly wet/doughy (perhaps slightly undercooked?) in the center and not having the usual refreshing citrus flavor I've had elsewhere. Shocked to say I did not enjoy eating it and tossed a good portion in the trash. The individual who was helping me did not seem very happy to be there -- which I totally get, but also wasn't the best vibe. I went to the old location a few times and thought the food was good, albeit pricey. The new location seems to have an expanded menu, and has ventured away from its bakery roots, as they have sit down service now. The renovation is cute and the decor is nice, however, the setup is awkward. They don't have a proper to-go station by the bakery counter, so you order with the host. I just wanted a cupcake to go and getting it was weird. Unfortunately, the cupcake was not good. I have no idea how you can ruin a chocolate cupcake but it was dry and the frosting had hardened to a crisp. At $4 for an average-sized cupcake, I was expecting something amazing but it left me beyond disappointed. I'm giving two stars because the staff was nice and I do like their decor, but if they can't get the basics right, I don't know that I want to try anything else. read more

Service was awesome - about 3-4 people checking on us the whole time. The team works well together. Banh mi - delish with duck confit on ciabatta. Custom breakfast sandwich - I got mine on crossaint, with bacon, tomato bacon jam, and gruyere. Drool. We also got some pastries to go - almond crossaint of course, caramel apple croissant muffin, and 3 macarons (calamansi, mocha, pumpkin) at $3 a pop. Great food, horrible service. I just finished waiting in the line for Mother's Day pick ups that I ordered early. They had one person helping out. I waited 20 minutes. The line was by far shorter than it was last year and I waited longer than I did last year. You have got to appropriately staff this place on Mother's Day and make sure there's clear delineation between The orders that need to get a placed to go, the pick up orders that were pre-ordered online, and the people trying to get a table. This is absolutely horrible service. I will 100% not be coming back and for sure never again on Mother's Day. It was decadent and light all at once... and the perfect balance of sweetness and butteriness. I really like some of the pastries that come out of this place, but having just visited the new location, there are a few things about it that make me question going back. The quiche is fluffy, soft, and delicious. In fact, everything we ordered tasted great. It's just that some of the items are comically small for what I paid. The Canele, for example, costs $4.25 but is tiny at only ~1.5" wide and ~2" tall. Again, it tasted great, but I would never order that again on price alone. You might say, then why did you order it? Good question. Because you can't really see the pastries when you order takeout. You're required to order online, even if you're standing in front of the counter. Sure they have a case, but none of the items are marked with a name so unless you've ordered it before, you have little idea of what you're getting. And I don't think everything that was available online was in the case anyway. Anywhoots, I'm thoroughly mixed in my feelings for this place. For the price, this place should be significantly better. We went for lunch (it was busy) and got take-out so I can't speak to service or ambiance, just food. The Bad: The funfetti cupcake was the worst cupcake I've ever had. The cake itself was subpar but the buttercream frosting was essentially just butter in both taste and texture. Maybe with some Crisco in there too. The Cuban was bland, the mustard flavor came through but the meat and cheese did not. There are FAR better Cubans in this town so don't waste your time on this one! The good: The BLT was tasty but small for the price. I appreciated that the bacon was cooked well.
