The horrible service at La Fuente on 9155 W Bluemound Rd in Milwaukee, WI has motivated me to write my first yelp review. After being seated, we were a party of 6, we waited around 25 minutes for the waiter to ask for our orders. Had it been particularly busy, I would have understood the wait; however, it was not at all busy. Upon finally receiving attention from our server, he was too busy commenting on how pretty my hair was and my appearance to properly take down our orders. 4/6 people received orders that were incorrect, varying issues from the wrong type of meat, to allergies to cilantro, and the list goes on. Not once was the waiter apologetic. Probably because if a party is larger than 5, gratuity is automatically added on to the tip. Every time we attempted to reach our waiter we would have to send another employee off to go find him. Approximately 1 hr and 35 minutes later, we finally all received the correct orders. The next issue came with the bill. Prior to eating, I personally asked if we would be able to pay for cards, and was informed that yes we would be able to. We were informed that the bill would not be separated however. Nonetheless after writing down the card numbers alongside everyone's order on the receipt, we were then informed by the waiter that he could only accept 2 cards and the rest cash. At this point I was extremely frustrated and asked to speak to the manager. After another 15 minutes, the manager finally came to the table. After informing him about the terrible service and the fact that the waiter had informed our table that we would be able to pay with cards, the manager did not apologize for the allergic reaction my friend suffered or the lengthy wait we faced to receive the right orders. He instead shrugged his shoulders with a smirk and said "so, what's the problem?" I calmly explained that I would just like to pay and leave because at this point we had been at the restaurant for a little over 2.5 hrs. Since the waiter made the mistake, he stated that just this once he would allow all of us to pay. I assured him that it was not important that he did it just this once because none of us would EVER return! Upon arriving with our separate receipts we were all charged incorrectly and excessively. Again we had to wait about 15 minutes to get the manager's attention who continued to walk away from us while laughing. We informed him that the charges were all wrong. I informed him that I would be able to assist him with properly adding the charges, and he got a calculator and THREW it at my table. Upset and ready to leave, I added the proper amounts and we were finally able to pay. Fearful of being charged numerously, I asked him if we would be charged repeatedly and he of course informed me that we would not. However, I gathered everyone's receipts because I had a gut feeling something would occur. The next day, I get a hold placed on my account, because my bank was fearful someone was using my card fraudulently. The restaurant charged me 4 different times, and charged 2 others numerous times. I was overcharged hundreds, while others were overcharged similarly. What this restaurant did was illegal and unethical. I recommend not a single soul to this restaurant. Having lived in Mexico and eaten at plenty of authentic Mexican restaurants, the food was bland, prepared hurriedly (although our wait time doesn't show it), and the service was laughable to say the least. Anyone would fare better at Chipotle or even taco bell. At the moment, I'm going back and forth with the manager who is unwilling to apologize for anything and is repeatedly denying overcharging us and charging us repeatedly. However, an account's bank history does not lie. I tried to handle this professionally and without getting the bank involved; yet, the manager is unwilling to even repay us the stolen money. As a lawyer, I understand what they did was illegal and unethical, and with the manager's unapologetic demeanour, I am now inclined to seek a legal remedy for the damages. My wholehearted recommendation is to NEVER eat at this AWFUL restaurant that is run by absolute imbeciles. read more

This is over all one of my two favorite Mexican Restaurants. The food is always good and so is the service. It's always clean. Lately they have stopped serving the seafood mushrooms. And they have been running out of things like Coke. read more

What has happened to a once good restaurant? The frequent turnover of managers says something. Have always enjoyed the margaritas and pleasant, efficient staff but so many changes indicate instability to me. The most recent,is moving the main entrance and closing the main bar. The new entrance is much too crowded and it is very cold with the constant opening of the door when people come in. [This is in spite of the makeshift outside entrance.] Also, there are not enough wait staff to tend to everybody in the bigger dining room. I was there last week and did not even see bussers to help out. It seems like a long distance for waiters and bartenders to go to meet the customers needs;totally inefficient. it saddens me to see a potentially wonderful restaurant handled so poorly by upper management. read more

Went to La Fuente for lunch with my husband. The restaurant appears to be divided into at least three eating areas. One was closed, the other was attached to the bar area (with a fireplace) and the third, in which we were seated, had a water fountain in the middle of the room. The dining room was reasonably clean and our waiter was pleasant. We first ordered guacamole with chips while we made our decision on lunch entrees. The guac was delicious, although the 1/2 order we had was very small, (about 1/2 cup) and was priced at $4.45. I ordered a pork taco, bean tostada and rice/beans. My husband had a beef enchilada, bean tostada and rice/beans. The entrees were OK but lacking in any special flavor. The pork in the taco came with lettuce, cheese and very little tomato. The meat itself was in one inch chunks, no sauce, bland and somewhat dry. The bean tostadas had melted cheese on top of the beans and lots of lettuce, topped with a whole slice of tomato and very little grated cojita cheese. The whole tomato slice made it difficult to get a bite of tomato thoughout eating the entire tostada. It would have been better to have chopped tomatoes. The melted cheese meant the tostada itself was warmed, which left what should have been a crisp treat, soggy. The standard bowl of salsa on the table had no heat at all, tasting more like soupy chopped tomatoes. I asked for hotter salsa and was brought what looked liked jarred or canned sauce put into a bowl. Most important is that the prices here are a bit higher compared to other Mexican restaurants on the South side. My one taco, one bean tostada with rice/beans came to about $10. Next time, we will make the effort to go back to better restaurants on Milwaukee's near South side. read more

Terrible service, vastly over priced drinks, average food, and a mandatory 18℅ gratuity after 8. All that equals a really poorly run, over price crap show. Only reason they got 2 stars is because their Diablo shrimp is quite good. Been there several times with friends and always hope it will get better. It doesn't. Won't be back even if that means I will have to pass meeting up with friends for the lousy extremely expensive margaritas. Fail. read more

My boyfriend and his family loves La Fuente, so this weekend they took me here. We were sat right away which is always a place. The service was very good. We got our waters and complimentary chips and salsa right away. The salsa was amazing. We ordered the Guac to share amongst the table and it was the best guacamole I've ever had. And when mixed with the salsa, its a little fiesta in your mouth. They were very addicting. My boyfriend and his mom loves the enchiladas here, but suggested that I get the combination places to get a little variety. They were right about the enchiladas-full of flavor. I also got a mini chimichanga and a chicken taco. The chimi was really good, I try not to get fried food as much but because it was small, I wanted get one- it was lightly fried, like I like. Nothing ruins a stomach like too much fried food. The taco on the other hand wasn't anything special. But I like how the have a combination plate-especially for those that haven't been here. You get to choose a few items until you find something you really like, or keep getting the combinations to keep trying your favorites. read more

While I went in with big expectations, the overall experience was okay, not great. I'm not sure we'll be back, unless it's a Groupon. I've been to both La Fuente locations and honestly, did not get the appeal of the Southside location. It was - and still is - comparable to La Perla's food. This particular location deserves some recognition though. I have been here a couple times and enjoyed my meal each time. That, and I do appreciate that more Mexican flavor is seeing its way over to the suburbs. The service is okay. There is always someone walking around to flag down should you need anything immediately. The food is yummy enough to satisfy a Mexican food craving if you're in the area. The parking is ridiculous. If you find a spot in the parking lot, you're fortunate than most. The patio is decently-sized, but again, good luck if you intend to sit out there when it's the peak hours. read more

WOW and not a good wow. I had been at this location one other time and it was ok but tonight was a joke. The service was ok at first and as always the food came fast. Really too fast as you can tell by the warm plate it's pre made Mexican. But whatever I knew what to expect. We ordered guacamole, 2 margaritas, lg. cassadias, and a number 3 plate. When the food came we realized we were missing a fork from the pre wrapped silverware. When we finally were able to flag the waiter down we seemed to get an annoyed look when we asked for a fork. But whatever we are easy going. Midway through the meal I ordered a second margarita. When it was brought to the table I was told that I should squeeze the lime in it to make it taste better...really? This wasn't the first Margarita I ever had but anyway I thanked the waiter. However since they didn't bother removing my empty glass I noticed the second drink was missing the salt on the rim. Oh well no big deal. Well now we have finished our meal and really hadn't been checked on in a while. I noticed out of the corner of my eye that the waiter realized he hadn't checked on us in a while and quickly printed the bill. I had my credit card ready and handed it to him without reading the bill as I really didn't care how much it was and figured it would be around 50 bucks since that's what it was the last time I was there. The waiter disappeared as I went to sign the bill and I almost fell over! $96.50! For 2 people! As I looked deeper at the bill I found 2 more drinks and 5 other meals on the bill besides what we ordered. What! Did the Margaritas kick in and I forgot who I dined with or what I ordered?! I flagged down another waiter who found our waiter. He took the bill and said he would take care of it. After 5 minutes of him fighting the register we finally got our correct $45 bill with no apologies of any kind. He seemed like it was a bother and almost annoyed that I caught the error. The sad thing is we both said we probably would have ordered more drinks had the waiter checked more often. I still left a tip but won't be back. read more

I think this place is great so I'm also surprised by the reviews that aren't that great. It has wonderful guacamole, chips, salsa and margaritas. Additionally I think that the skirt steak for the plate lunch or steak tacos has wonderful seasoning. Rice and beans are good as is everything else really. The only reason it's 4 stars and not 5 is that I think they don't season as well as down on 5th and National. read more

Service was friendly and nice. Building was nice and spacious. Food was ok. Not something I would go out of my way. I had a sampler platter was ok. My wife had the nachos. Not the best nachos I have eaten. Lots of cheese but were dry and bland and needed salsa or some type of sauce. read more

We've had several good dinners here. Food is fresh, standard Mexican fare. Service is fast and attentive. It's not fancy, it's a little noisy, parking is tight, but we've never had any issues here. Great chips and salsa with plenty of flavor. The menu has lots of variety. We'll definitely keep going back. read more

We have gone here several times for Birthday parties. The decor is a Midwest Mexican combo a little dated. The food is your typical American-Mexican combo. Their serving sizes are fairly large. They have several different selections of meet to choose from I prefer the beef chunks, I usually order either a Combo plate or the large Chimichanga. Our service has always been good. read more

Absolutely terrible take-out service !! Twice in the past 4 weeks I've ordered take-out and arrive only to find out they don't have an order under my name. I've previously had orders screwed up with the wrong items when I've gotten home also. It's very frustrating driving accross town to pick-up your food only to find out they don't have an order for you, after clearly providing a name and phone #. There was also no attempt to offer any discount or compensation for the inconvenience. I won't be going back for either sit-down or take-out from La Fuente again. I'm done with this crappy service. read more
