    #43 Tacos De Pescado
    Amber D.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]La Fuente is a super cute spot, I loved the decor & all of the bright colors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The folks who helped us were also excellent, they were friendly & fast! I ordered the Tacos de Pescado, which come with a side of rice & beans. Everything was tasty, if not a bit too salty. I did really appreciate the slaw on the tacos, since it helped balance out the saltiness. I also had the house margarita, which was served in a cute cactus glass & was very good! In all, I would absolutely come back here; it's exactly what I look for in an American Mexican restaurant :)

    Nachos Supreme

Our experience was pretty terrible. First the food took quite a while to come to our table on a not so busy night. Secondly the food was room temperature and my mother's food was all stuck together. She got nachos and it looked like they were microwaved. Super dry and just all around terrible. The manager was very rude to us and said she wouldn't take the nachos off the bill. Claiming since we ordered it, we have to pay for it. Definitely loss of customers over $13

This place is not what I used to be. There was only one other car in the parking lot and now I see why. There was about 1 tablespoon of meat in the chimichanga and the enchilada. The chips are a tiny basket as well as a tiny cup of salsa. After that they charge you service friendly but very slow...too because location is great. But that's not enough to get me to go back $15 for a stuffed pepper? No thanks.

    House Margarita - Blended

The only reason I could understand the negative reviews is to keep it under the radar. Stopped back for the first time in years and La Fuente did not disappoint. First chips and salsa is complementary. Zero complaints here. Salsa hit the spot. We ordered a large chicken chimichanga and a Super burrito. The chimichanga was not "large" by any means but the portion was for that of a normal person which I did appreciate. Food was great! My husband and I honestly did not talk other than when offering each other bites. House marg was actually perfect; A tad strong but tasty and suuuper smooth. Our server was super cheerful and warm. Very attentive and our food came out quicker than I expected. Overall very satisfied and we cant wait to go back!

Honestly surprised that La Fuente doesn't have a higher Yelp rating... hands down some of the best service I've had at a restaurant establishment. Everyone is so kind and prompt and seems to really care about the experience you are having. The food is also wonderful and yummy, as well as the drinks! Overall a great spot to grab Mexican food with family and friends in the area!!

The "free" cup of salsa for four people

Ambience. Nasty tile floor. Tables have this blue vinyl cover that is sticky and gross No free refills. A 4oz cup of salsa free with one basket of chips for four people. Then it's $4.10 for more each refill with the 4oz cup They changed their chips and salsa. No flavor on either - used to be amazing Came here to sit outside on a Saturday - the patio is closed for power washing lol. On maybe their busiest day ? Odd Tostada was wet and gross. Not impressed with this place at all. Never will we be back. We just paid $95 for four crappy lunches - chips and salsa and four drinks - next time we will go to Taco Bell - better food I hate to say Do yourself a favor - just dont come here. I'm serious.

This place, as in the physical location, brings back so many memories of my college days... when it was El Matador and Carey's... so when it initially evolved into La Fuente, I was not a fan simply because of the change. Now, many years have passed and I just recently revisited. While I long for the simplicity of the early/mid 00's, I decided that La Fuente is a-okay in my book! We came on a Friday, early evening and it wasn't too busy. Most people were seated on the nice patio. Each table has a big umbrella to provide some shade from the summer sun. We were seated within a minute or two of our arrival. We were served chips and salsa almost immediately after being seated. I liked the salsa! It wasn't anything exceptional but I prefer the more blended salsa over chunky. Chips were decent, again not like "woah!" but decent, standard tortilla chip. We ordered a pitcher or house margaritas on the rocks and it came out quickly. It was so good on this warm, but not too hot, summer day. I decided to order something totally different than the standard burrito or enchilada... the Plate Lunch with chunky beef (mechata, I believe). It was served with rice, beans, the typical garnish (lettuce, tomatoes), and flour tortillas. Basically, build your own taco or mix it together for a tortilla-less taco. This was a good decision, the beef was so good! And it was a large portion - I would definitely order this again. My husband ordered the Papi Poppers, which are a spin on Jalapeño Poppers - deep fried jalapeño halves with chicken, avocado, and cheese. Muy bein! There were so many, he had it as a meal. I tried one and it was delicious - a little zip but not too much. Like a 1.5 out of 5. My friend ordered a chicken quesadilla, which came with guacamole and sour cream. She said it was amazing! Service was fantastic - our server introduced himself right away and checked on us several times. He made sure our chips and salsa was refilled and even gave me a "doggy bag" to take home the chips we did not eat for my pup ;) (I said they were for Roxy lol). We did take some leftover home, but not much as we were "grazing" for a period of time. They did get busier but did not rush us out - it was fantastic as it was my husband and my 4 yr anniversary, so it was like a fun little party. Parking can be a bit stressful as the lot is small. There is parking down the street and across Bluemound (at your own risk during rush hour). Overall, great service, great food, good times!! :D

I have been wanting to try this place for ever but the 2.5 stars have kept me away until today when I said let's see if it's reality 2.5 stars and it definitely is. The place is huge with a downstairs and rooms all over including a bar room. I sat in the dining room across from the fireplace and I was promptly given chips and salsa with the menu but no napkin, salsa is messy come on. I ordered a strawberry margarita blended to start which was ok and average. The chips were fresh and warm but not seasoned at all while the salsa had a little kick to it but it was like a purée with no chunks of vegetables. I ordered the #3 combination plate which is a tostada, burrito and enchilada with choice of meat that comes with rice and beans. The rice and beans were not seasoned and bland so I mixed them together with the salsa which made them better. The pork burrito looked like a taco and was a flour tortilla with cheese and tender white pork chunks, not red al pastor and not seasoned. The ground beef enchilada was a corn tortilla covered in cheese with no sauce on top like most places and not seasoned again. The chunky beef tostada had the tastier meat with tender chunks of beef but not seasoned again. The chunky beef tostada was the best part of the plate and it was average. Overall if your looking for bland Americanized Mexican food that grandma can eat then you found the right place, all the older people eating should be a dead give away. It's very average and not seasoned or flavorful and can't hold a candle to National or Lincoln area Mexican restaurants at all.

This is my go to Mexican place in the Brookfield / Wauwatosa area. We always get great service. We like to sit on the patio. It has a romantic feel. In the winter sit inside by the fireplace !! The tacos Al pastor are delicious with pineapples. I got a jalapeño margarita which isn't on the menu but they will make it fit you. No complaints

    Taco Salad

The service was SO slow and they weren't very busy. Lots of wait staff running around. I think our waitress forgot about us. The food was warm but not hot. I ordered the taco salad and asked for no beans or black olives. I asked to substitute rice for the beans. I was charged $15 for the taco salad and $3 for the side of rice. It was nothing special for that cost. My husband got one of their combo meals. It looked very greasy. He also said his was warm but not hot.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in town! Tons of seating, fabulous service, great outdoor patio! I love the salsa and lime margaritas. I request fajita veggies in enchiladas to enjoy a vegetarian option. This is my go to Bday spot!

What happened to the quesedilla del mar? If I can't get it, have to go elsewhere

What happened to the mushroom appetizer and the chili rolleno? May not return due to poor menu.

We have recently updated our menu (and are in the process of updating our website) and have brought back the Mushroom Morelos due to popular demand. Thank you for your question.

Tortillas were crispy and fried to perfection. The consommé was delicious, had me drinking it straight out the cup and was well seasoned, hot, and was in its own something to right about. The red and green salsas were also good. Red having a bit of kick, green was flavorful. I will say that I wish one of them had more heat to it but the acidity and flavors were great. The beef itself was so flavorful and tender, well seasoned, not to mention had the perfect amount in each item. Also, Onions and peppers on the side were cooked great and had me going back for more each time. Also, get the horchata, it was spectacular. This place is small but decorated to really feel like the owners, workers, really care and take pride in the establishment. It had a great ambiance that was full of people on a rainy lunch hour, and I can see why. As a person who works in the industry as a cook, the kitchen, which you can see when you order is neat, clean, and truly has the right feel of 'they know what they're doing and they're doing it well'. 5 stars, will be talking about this meal for a long time and spreading the recommendation to as many people as I can.

The guacamole had a strong citrus flavor which I am a fan of and the salsa was complimentary! I would HIGHLY recommend the best burrito ($15) as they did not skimp on any ingredient, especially the flavorful pork pibil. My only qualm was that the rice was undercooked and slightly crunchy, but otherwise an affordable and tasty restaurant for a date night. The staff were friendly, service was fast (less than 10min to receive food after ordering) and the restaurant had bright and colorful furniture and decor which were true to theme.

I loved the variety of the menu, especially the vegetarian options, which are hard to come by in a lot of Mexican restaurants. In the past few years since I've moved back to Milwaukee, I've eaten at this location several times. It's about 6 blocks from my house and I still find veggie Mexican options to be rarer than I'd like. Generally the food is good, if no longer great. I wonder if their expansion and success has spread them thin over the years. Sometimes the service is good, sometimes it's like an afterthought. I've also ordered delivery from them many times and it's been generally fine, but not often great. Tonight I ordered delivery, paid extra for expedited service, and I really just wanted some good cheese and onion enchiladas. The delivery time was quick. Despite that, my food was cold. My black beans - literally cold. The cheese enchiladas - um, the cheese on top wasn't even melted. The rice had no flavor at all, like it could have literally been plain white, tepid rice. So I don't know what is going on at Cafe Corazon, but it's just not good anymore and that makes me really sad.

The menu features small bites, chicken, loaded fries, and they have specials too. I ordered at the counter and got a text once my food my was ready. There's plenty of seating inside the brewery and the interior is unique because it used to be a church. Don't quote me on that but I'm pretty sure it was at some point. Anyway, I had to try the birria egg rolls because there was a ton of signage. First, they were quite large. The exterior had a great crunch and the interior was stuffed full of delicious birria, mozzarella, and chihuahua cheese. The ancho chipotle aioli was nice and smoky and paired well with the eggrolls. Definitely recommend and I wish I lived in the area because I could make a meal out of just these. I also tried one of the specials, the Chicken Tinga eggrolls. Again, they were bigger than expected, had a delicious, crispy exterior, and was stuffed full of chicken tinga and queso. It was served with a side of crema. Perfect pairing and I might have enjoyed these slightly more than the birria ones. I highly recommend that you check them out. I'm jealous that I don't live closer because we don't have a place like this in KC. They are definitely a unique place with delicious food.

And don't forget to take a tour of one of this country's most beautiful cathedrals. Right there by Don Luchos. You can eat here. Lots of long communal tables so don't be shy. Prices aren't cheap but this is quality. I usually get a pound or so of carnitas. They measure it out, it's steaming, and ask if you want it chopped. I say yes. It's wrapped up tightly and it will feed you all weekend. This meat is freaking amazing!!!! I pray they haven't run out of homemade tortillas, but like I said, you gotta come EARLY. Sigh.
