Family friendly, great service, and incredible food! This is our 'go-to' Mexican food spot in the Milwaukee area. An added bonus for me is that they have a really, really good vegetarian menu. You may remember this location as the Monreal's El Matador which was a staple in the neighborhood. I would come to Monreal's for the steak taco's which were really the the best. Alas, Monreal's closed down a few years back and was remodeled and taken over by La Fuente's . This is the 2nd time of been to La Fuente's . The first time the service was marginal at best and the food was exceptionally bland. I can't say that things have improved on the food although the service is better. I don't know, is it really possible to make food that doesn't have any taste? If so, La Fuente's can corner the market. Bland food, shaky service and loud music. I'll have to pass. As the only bar within walking distance, this place is popular with my group of friends. You get exactly what you would expect here, good tex-mex at very reasonable prices. Also, a pitcher of regular margaritas for $20 is enough to get 4 people decently sloshed! read more

Consistently good food and service. Fish tacos are great and a nice lighter choice that won't leave you in a cheese coma.

Pros: Attentive, friendly service. Despite how busy our waiter was, he frequently made rounds at our table. The manager even checked in to see how things were going. The margarita was really tasty. The food came out no more than 5 minutes after we ordered it. The salsa had a nice kick to it. Cons: My entree tasted more like something I would find at Taco Bell. Did not seem like restaurant quality food. More like fast food. The guacamole is really terrible. Yuk! Hard to mess that up, but it was just plain bad. Tasted like fake store bought stuff. This has to be the worst "Mexican" restaurant in Milwaukee. First of all, almost everything on the menu was crossed out. Selection was very limited. Online, the menu showed mole, guajillo etc. Then we got there, the waiter told us there was either "green or red sauce." This was not real Mexican food; it was American-kinda-sorta Mexican food. Prices seem a bit high, room seems a little tired, table cloth (plastic) was sticky, upholstered chairs were comfortable but spotted, salsa was watery but the chips were warm. My wife and I were looking forward to some orginal Mexican food. Well let's just say it was orginal alright. The tacos pork was like it was boiled. I had the wet burritos with chunky beef. This is one of my favorite places to eat. I've tried most the food, but usually stick with the wet burrito. Mostly cause I think it's funny to say. The worse service imagined. After sitting 20 mins without a server host told me to stand up and go the bar and order my food, uhm okay. I swear there were about 20 servers on the floor many just standing there. This same host also stood behind me talking about how much she hates people. I make my way to the bar stood quietly in front of the bartender until he chose to acknowledge me and then begrudgingly took my drink order while the manager stood around giving side eye. Ordered a pitcher of margarita which was so strong any fruit flavors were masked. The food was standard and bland which could have been forgiven if not for the lack of service. Not one smile when I finally got service. So bad I felt compelled to review. This was the first and last experience. . Just wanted to let you know - I brought guests from San Francisco to your Bluemond place. Worst service for a pretty empty Monday evening on a 75 degree evening in Milwaukee. Besides waiting to take orders, bring drinks (watered margaritas), and well get any type of service (even the check!), the best was having to ask to turn the lights on outside. Have to believe if you are going to seat customers outside at 6:30pm you would turn the lights on. Funny to eat in the dark. No a care in the world from the staff. First time I have been to the 92nd an Bluemound location. First time I have been to La Fuente since the good ole days pre-2000. I was greatly disappointed. The service was sub-par, it was like us eating there was an after-thought for them. Our margaritas, (which according to their menu was a Milwaukee favorite) were anything but. I went back for the first time in years recently, and was extremely dissappointed. The first thing i noticed was that the food seemed a bit overpriced compared to their competitors. The service was on the slow side and they screwed up our drink order before we even got our food. The portions were small, and our order food was incorrect. It wasn't horrible food but i wouldn't call it good either. For two dinners and two drinks our bill was $49. Came here for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Place/area looked a little seedy. Coming from California, this place is far from authentic Mexican food flavor. Had the buffet style line up in one of the reserved rooms. Taco shells were cold. Chicken, beef, and ground beef were lacking in taste. The server assigned to our table kept forgetting to our drink orders and had to be reminded 2+ times. Lastly, place has limited parking and fills up quick. This place could be a gold mine, but it seems it's on it's last legs. At least half the menu items were crossed out with black marker. Stale chips and made-in-new-york-city salsa for starters. The $16 shrimp enchiladas were served with a brown mole like sauce (they called it the house sauce, but it's a weak mole). Couple of the woody, frozen shrimp still had shells. Decent outdoor seating for a nice evening like we had today. Waited awhile to be seated and the place was almost empty. Had to ask to place a drink order and had to ask for chips and salsa. The one downtown was better. Come here often but less and less happy as time goes on. Hostess is generally rude. Menu is smaller than past DT location. Don't like the mole, has a strange aftertaste. I've been here about a half dozen times the past few years since they opened. Other than a convenient city location, there isn't anything special about the place. The food is average, but priced approaching the high-end. The margaritas are inconsistent and not made by somebody who knows what they're doing most nights. That would be fine if the service and atmosphere were better. 2/3 of the place needs a serious remodel, including the gas station style bathrooms. The service is a weird combination of dismissive, arrogant and forgetful. You will wait for service and drinks. Your food won't always be right or still warm. Everything is borderline tolerable because it such a good location to meet at and how bad can you screw up Americanized Mexican food and drinks. I recently tried to make reservations for a group and got somebody with an attitude telling me they didn't take reservations. If that's true now, it's stupid. I have made a reservation for a group once before. I'll go to any number of places instead going forward and just give better directions. I hear there's a thing on cell phones that can help.
