I love La Med honestly it's one of my fav places in the city!! My friend and I went to their restaurant week dinner and for $45 it was SOOO worth it. I've had the chicken pomegranate before but it's such a great experience every time I have it - the chicken is nicely cooked and the flavor mixed with the rice hits every time. We also got to try the lamb and appetizer platter - next time I would still stick with chicken and order the same apps! The dessert was also so good, I definitely had to undo some buttons after this meal but it was such a great experience. We had the salmon and chicken salad. The salmon was very bad. We didn't want to complain because the waiter is so nice and times are tough. That said, my partner had a reaction (bad GI reaction) later in the evening. We think the salmon was bad. Sadly, though local, we will not return. Update: the manager called us and refunded us in full for the meal. This is super, shows integrity, and we appreciate this so much. Sometimes, you just have to order the right dish. I've been to La Med on Fillmore. I got the lemony chicken soup and meatballs with tomato sauce and I didn't like either dish. When my friend suggested going to this La Med in the Castro I was hesitant, but my friend was really enthusiastic about the place. This time I got four different phyllo dough things (filled with different veggies/cheeses/meats/seasonings) with potato salad and hummus as my sides (and pita bread). This was delightful. I ended up saving half of everything to take home and the phyllo warmed up in the toaster oven nicely the next day. The potato salad was light and vinegary - not mayo - kind of like a German potato salad. The hummus was very flavorful. The consistency is a little thinner than other places. It was a slower weekday night and they were very kind about us eating and chatting for a long while. We never once felt rushed by the server, and we didn't feel awkward chilling because there was no line out the door. This was all before Covid-19. OMG, where to start? The vibe is super chill. The servers and staff are friendly, the food divine and I wanted to stay there all day. I was surprised that I found parking relatively close. The outdoor space was inviting and a perfect place to kick back with a glass of wine. Another bonus turned out to be that I was there on the same day as the Farmer's Market. It seems like you would be comfortable enough there to dine alone (as I was for a bit while I waited for my friend to show up) or with a group of friends. I will definitely be going back. My daughter and I ordered two dishes and ate family style. There was enough left for lunch for us the next day. The hummus is great. It makes me very sad to write this review, I would normally give this place infinity stars. I ordered delivery which was really fast - but I'm only a block away so not surprising. But I would have been happy to wait longer to get properly cooked and prepared food, or even something closer to the quality I expect from them. I ordered the chicken kebab dinner. The rice was mixed between uncooked grains and cooked. Kind of baffling, but also inedible. Some of the chicken wasn't cooked through, probably because some of the pieces were very large and thick and others were closer to bite sized. Between a couple of pieces of chicken on one skewe were 2 slimy overcooked pieces of green pepper. On the other kebab there was one very small square of red pepper. What even was the point of those? The potato salad was sopping wet with lemon juice. I normally love their zesty potato salad but this seemed like someone soaked the potato salad with lemon so it was like sour wet creamed potato. For dessert I got the walnut baklava. It was ok but bitter. I expect that from raw walnuts but I'd also expect that in a dessert the walnuts would be prepared to make them more palatable. This is definitely one of my top favorite restaurants in the city. The pomegranate chicken is always tender and juicy. I love the rice pilaf and potato salad. I'm usually not a lamb person but they're lamb lule is amazing, I specifically love the tomato sauce they serve it in and I always ask for extra. Loved the Kebabs! The rice was a great combination and it had plenty of spice (not spicy*). I love Tabuleh. Period. I explained to her our needs for an al fresco lunch and she cheerfully and helpfully set it up perfectly. Thank you for making it happen. Our delivery order arrived via Caviar on Friday, November 30th around 12:30pm. *Fillo Appetizer: One pastry, Meat Tart Fillo ($3.25) *Chicken Kebab (Lunch): One marinated grilled chicken skewer, no rice pilaf ($14.50) I got the Chicken Kebab. Since I asked for no rice, I believe I got lettuce instead. The dish came with a small side of hummus. I actually wished there was more as I adore hummus. The chicken was fine. A touch dry, but with the hummus, it was fine. I didn't care for the dressing. It was a little too sweet for me. Though I found I didn't need it when I ate every else together. The hummus provided a little moisture. I did find myself still hungry after eating the plate. I wished there was more salad. Not quite enough to be filling. I tried the app since my coworker who ordered it wasn't at work that day. The meat filo tart was okay. A little soggy from the sauce, but flavor wise, it was fine. I've been in the neighborhood for 10 years and just went to Le Mediterranee for the first time. I had a good experience! During covid they are seating outside. The outside seating is ok. The tables are a bit wobbly and they have only some heaters. The food is what I expected. It's good Mediterranean food. Nothing over the top. My buddies and I came here on a whim during a festival on Castro and it was a great stop! It was a beautiful day and with their great outside seating, it was an excellent stop. I got the Middle Eastern Plate with the Lamb Lule and each component was delicious. I also got the lentil soup, which was great! I haven't been here since leaving SF years ago, but I decided to revisit what used to be a reliably good restaurant experience when I lived in SF before. The food was not as good as I remember from the past, but it was still acceptable. The glaring problem was the service. It was average and acceptable until the end. My partner had barely finished his entree, and I had some left on my plate when the waitress walked over and put the check on the table. No, "Can I bring you anything else," or simply ask if we wanted more to drink or a desert. This type of subpar service is one of my major pet peeves. Please train your staff better or hire more experienced staff. That ending ruined my dining experience and made me very sad for what this restaurant has become. read more

We went to this place for early dinner, and it was a decent place. I ordered hummus as an appetizer, which comes with a pita. The hummus was not the best we've had, and the same goes for the pita. The hummus came with some veggies, which I wish they left out. I didn't like the veggie that comes with it and rather just have hummus. I got the Lebanese Kibbeh and the sandwich, which was a wrap, and both of them were okay. It could be because I'm not used to Lebanese Kibbeh; I wouldn't say I liked the taste of it, nor did I like the sandwich. My partner said it was okay so that it could be good for some people. The soup special was good for the first couple of spoons, but then it started to taste like baby food, and I was not vibing with that anymore. We didn't find anything special about this place and will not go back. The salad dressings have soy lecithin. Additives are one of the main reasons we don't go to many restaurants anymore. I want to support small businesses and the staff is so friendly and kind. A Long Friendship - One More Chance I've been going here since 1984. Even after moving to Seattle in 1988, I make this a must on every visit to the city. However our last visit in September 2022 was a big letdown on the food. Service: The service was great and friendly, as usual. They have a parklet outside that allows dogs (we have two) or you can eat inside. Food: We ordered our "usual", the Mediterranean Mezza which consists of a variety of small plates that cover the table. Standards like Falafel, Tabuleh, Armenian Potato Salad, Chicken Celicia. A great way to get a little of everything. However this time, for the first time ever, the food was so so. The Falafel was very dry and over spiced. The Armenian Potato Salad was puréed too fine so the separation of vinegar and herbs became a blend and not a good texture. Aesthetics: this is quite spoiled and picky of me so take it for what it's worth: they used to serve this on sea shells, which added to the mindfulness of the experience. It's now served on nice square edged plates. If the food was still amazing, I would not make this observation. So all in all, as a long time customer I'll go back on our next trip to the city, as it's an old friend and still friendly and I don't kick old friends to the curb over a single mistake. But if the meal is similar to this visit I may have to find a new friend. read more

Tucked away in the Castro District, this place was a delightful surprise. We were famished after a full day of training. Chicken Saffron was so well done it melted in your mouth. What a rip off. We ordered the Mediterranean Meza Family vegetarian style for $25, per the menu, a tasting of 10 different items. They offer it as a vegan and vegetarian option. We ordered the vegetarian. Because they offered it as an option you would think that there would be vegetarian options available. What they actually do is give you the traditional meal minus all of the meat items. No additional items are offered in its place nor is there a discount on the price. So basically we pay the same as you would if you had all of the expensive meat but without any of it and no offerings of anything in exchange. They put the four spreads all together in the to go packaging so it basically just took on the flavor of the strongest spread (tasted like I could have gotten it at the deli in Safeway. The falafel was the driest falafel I have ever had in my life. You can see from the picture that it is just appears to be a frozen falafel that they deep-fried to its death. Nothing felt homemade at all. We called and spoke with Devon because we were so upset that they also didn't deliver our baklava and he explained that he didn't know what could be done to help us and that assured me that a manager would call me back. That was two days ago. Zero phone calls zero concern about overcharging us for items that we did not receive and misrepresenting their product.
