2 Ronan bowls and a cocoa smoothie
    Kaitlin C.

THIS WAS AMAZING! It took us awhile to find the truck because it was unmarked and we just didnt see it but so glad we did! All the folks working were super friendly and having a great time. They have quite a few vegetarian options and lots of healthy breakfast options! What a win! We ended up getting two ronan bowls (minus eggs and mushroom on mine) and a cocoa almond chia smoothie. I couldn't stop talking about how tasty it was the whole meal. Very fresh and lots of flavors which were all balanced. They also have house made sauces as well (chipotle was delicious!) Normally with chia seeds they get stuck in your teeth but they blended the smoothie up so much I didn't even notice them! 10/10 experience. If I we lived in town we'd be here all the time.

La Ostia is a wonderful cafe tucked into a neighborhood. The space inside was cozy yet a little cramped at times. Probably because how busy it was getting around brunch time. The service was great as the waitress was very accommodating with brining an ice cold glass with ice for my Mexican Coke. The carne asada burrito was the main attraction for me it was delicious and filling.

Wonderful family run Taqueria! The homemade tortillas are amazing and complement the food. Pro Tip: order ahead and pick up to skip the line

    Steak & egg burrito

Medium sized restaurant/coffee bar in a quiet neighborhood in NE Portland off the beaten path in the shadow of Mt. Tabor. We went (again) for their steak & egg breakfast burrito & their breakfast taco. The steak was extremely tender and perfectly cooked and my wife really enjoyed the taco. The service is about as quick as can be for freshly made food & the people are very kind. We also ordered a Green Smoothie, which was very refreshing, and a Mexican Mocha, which had the right amount of "spice" - not too strong, but just enough. We have recommended LO to our friends.

Had the steak and egg (w/o sour cream). All the ingredients were great however burrito itself was a tad watery. Not greasy though so that was a huge plus. They have a few salsas to choose from which were good but didn't try the habenero. The cart is very unassuming without any signage just being a black trailer in a parking lot. Thought there would be a line but turns out everyone was waiting in their cars so looked quieter than it was but still got my burrito in about 10 min around noon on a sat. Need to go back for a non breakfast option and get some of that hab sauce.

a black food truck parked in a parking lot

Perhaps the best burrito I've had in a LONG time?! This food truck is super hard to point out - it's just a black trailer in a small parking lot with no signs indicating what the place is called at all. There's only one single picnic table for people to eat, luckily our group was able to snag this just in time before the wave of people came. I ordered the Osita burrito ($10.25) - it comes with eggs w/ chorizo, black beans, pico de gallo, pepper jack cheese, and sour cream. We were coming back from a hike and the burrito definitely brought my energy levels back up lol. The chorizo was flavorful and perfectly spiced, the cheese was oo'in and goo'in, and you could tell it was wrapped with care because it held itself together nicely! The cashier was the sweetest person. She was super patient with us as we were taking our order since we were a larger group, and was very generous with the amount of salsa given to us when we asked. I'd definitely come back during my next visit to Portland! The crispy taco options are also great, try the brunch taco!

    Vegan and brunch taco: excellent

Found this little gem via eater.com's "Where to Find a Real-Deal Breakfast" list. The brunch taco and vegan taco were delicious, love the thin crispy (but not hard) shell. Also enjoyed the steak and egg burrito with pico, their most popular item. They offer three varieties of hot sauce. The Mexican Mocha is one of the better, just hints of dark chocolate rather than overpowering. The owner is very customer service oriented, very nice. Spanish speaking customers which is a good thing at a Mexican food cart. Prices are very fair. It took me a few passes to find it as the cart is Black and somewhat hidden.

Maaaaaaybe my new favorite coffee shop!…read more I had been to their other location but for some sad reason never made it here. Located on Hawthorne just past the curve at 50th, they've got plenty of free street parking in the nearby blocks. They don't have much external signage but they do have a lot of outdoor streetside seating, so it makes you wonder what everyone else knows. Inside, they've got Coava coffee, efficient staff, and an old-school cafe vibe. With multiple couches (one of my main criteria for a coffee shop) and free wifi, this is a place to work, meet people, and slow down. Great long hours - they're open 6am-6pm.

The intentions were genuine and things have progressed in a way where Albina Press is one of the most recognized coffee brands in the city. It's not too dissimilar from its OG sister location in North Portland (#3), where they still brew high quality caffeinated drinks with the vibes of a homey communal space with chairs, couches, and individual tables for a proper coffee date, WFH worthy WiFi, and plenty of anti-war propaganda in the self-serve water area in the back. The latte art was on point, the cold brew was most definitely strong, cafe au lait was milky and foamy in the best way, and the americano drinks were fabulous. While their hours (#4) aren't particularly suited for after-work hours, they do an excellent job of keeping their space clean and the vibes low key throughout the morning and afternoon. Prices are good for Portland standards. Most drinks are $5 and under, even for the largest sizes. The limited but high quality pastry selection is also appreciated. The service was good overall, just be certain with the order and don't be afraid to ask for recommendations. Lines can happen, albeit rarely, and I would encourage most folks to drink the coffee on the spot. The space is part of the experience (be weary of the restrooms tho), so enjoy the low key ambiance with a drinkable jumpstart to the day. Maximize the time by starting early and be aware that street parking is the only way. __________ (#1) If you understand this, then you're either a serious coffee enthusiast or a massive food nerd.
