I am so pleasantly surprised! I went in thinking it may be another overpriced Mexican restaurant in the Redlands area, but I would highly recommend as a fun downtown spot. My friend and I arrived around 12:30 on a Sunday and was given a 20-25 min wait. When it got to 40 mins, we went inside to check on the status of our table and then were immediately seated. (This is where they lost a star. Hosts have to be more accurate with wait times.) After seating though, our experience was great. Drinks are original and well balanced. Food is flavorful and well portioned for the price. Brunch menu is fairly extensive. Lots of options. I'm definitely excited to return for their lunch specials/dinner menu. And I love that they're already doing special events. Great to get connected to your community.

Pretty good for a Mexican sit down joint. It's supposed to be Mexico City inspired, and it's refined but with a sort of unmistakably chain-like polish that feels a little cheap. But the food is very not bad! I'd recommend anything Costra style -- it comes with grilled cheese on the outside. They have a really good mix of indulgent and fresh options. Try the Baja shrimp for something lighter; it's pretty standard, you can't go wrong there. For something more indulgent, try the quesabirria plate: braised short rib with a ton of cheese, served with consommé for dipping. For a vegetarian option, try the charro beans -- they have a bit of an Indian feel, a little spicy and very layered. Prices are also very reasonable here.

Love it here. We have only eaten here for breakfast. The 2 times we came for dinner it was packed. But the breakers food has been wonderfully delicious. The service has also been very good. I love love the vibes and the ambiance of the place. My new favorite

Really wanted to love this place but the food is not seasoned well enough for me. Decor? Beautiful. Service? Great! Food? Meh. In the multiple trips we have made there we've tried different things and each time we felt like the entrees could have been more flavorful. The aguas are delicious as is the guacamole and salsa flight. Even the beans and rice! But the tacos and enchiladas are a no for me.

This is exactly the kind of restaurant our area has been missing! From the moment you walk in, you can tell a lot of thought went into the design. The décor is fresh, modern, and inviting with fun details like tropical wallpaper, natural textures, and even a disco ball that gives the space so much personality. It's a beautiful place to enjoy a meal. I've been back several times now, and the service has been consistently friendly and attentive. As for the food, I highly recommend the tacos! I've tried the tinga, corn, and grilled shrimp tacos, and the corn and grilled shrimp are definitely my favorites. I also stopped by for brunch and had the breakfast burrito, which was absolutely delicious. For drinks, I sampled the Spirit-Free Paloma and the Sonora Sunrise Spritz. The Spritz was my favorite, light, refreshing, and full of flavor. I also tried the Golazo Tropical Margarita. It was a little sweeter than I usually prefer, but if you enjoy guava, you'll probably love it since that flavor really shines through. One more bonus: parking is incredibly convenient. There's a nearby parking structure with plenty of spaces, making it easy to stop in without worrying about finding parking. Overall, this is a fantastic addition to the area. Great atmosphere, excellent service, delicious food, and I'll definitely keep coming back!

New spot in Redlands next to the new Eureka location. Walking in we had a 15 minute wait but two chairs inside for you to avoid the heat. Many other people came in after us and had to wait outside in the heat as there is really no waiting area inside so get there early. The greeters and servers were great and worth 5 stars. I had the LP Margarita which was pretty good. I also had the Ribeye taco, chicken tinga taco and carnitas taco. Tacos were ok and could use a little more meat for a happy hour price of $4.25. They serve with one corn tortilla which is ok for the meat tacos but not so much for the tinga. The juice caused the tortilla to break apart. They might want to think about doubling tortillas for the chicken. The salsa flight was actually a very good choice to get different types of salsas. The vibe inside is also pretty good with music playing in the background and people just have a great time. They offer a tequila club much like Eurekas whiskey club that gets you discounts and monthly tequila bottle at $85 a month. We elected not to become members.

So we walked in, we were greeted. The ambience inside is nice and welcoming. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They have TVs overlooking the bar, I don't know if they have TVs outside. We sat at the bar and ordered food and drinks. The food was excellent. We ordered the Ahi tuna tostada, which was so flavorful. I will definitely order this again and we also ordered the tri-tip tacos, the meat was so tender and flavorful again this is something I will definitely order again. The only downfall was the tacos was a combo so it did come with rice and beans which I can't not brag about due to the fact that they did not have a whole lot of flavor. A little disappointing. The overall experience was great all the bartenders at the bar, especially Kim, she's a bartender there, we're all great and very attentive. I will definitely come here again. You will be looking at least paying $20 for each plate of food. But you will have to go there as well to form your own opinion. Highly recommend.

I went with my husband to the soft opening. The food is delicious! We love their house salsa and their chips come out fresh. We recommend the Ahi Tuna Tostada. We previously ate at the Claremont location and the vibe here is similar. La Popular does trendy twists on Mexican classics. Our server, Hannah J, was super attentive the entire time and made sure that we had enough drinks and chips. Parking in front of the restaurant is a little sparse, but there is a large parking structure just across the Metrolink tracks, and there is a pedestrian crossing that leads directly to the entrance of the restaurant.

La Popular is such a cute, trendy Mexican restaurant that I believe has the potential to become very popular. As we entered we were greeted by a warm welcome and smile by the host who quickly sat us. The environment is fun and upbeat with a great open floor plan. The biggest down side is they leave ALL the doors open on hot summer days so the restaurant is very very hot!! You'd be better off sitting outside with the misters. After we got sat we waited about 10 minutes to get greeted by a server who asked us if we've been helped out yet. We let her know we have not and she proceeded to take our order. It seems the staff is still learning the menu as they didn't have answers to a lot of questions and didn't know what the happy hour consisted of. We ordered Grande LP margaritas off the happy hour menu along with the queso fundido and guacamole. Both appetizers were fantastic! The margaritas tasted more like pure lime than a well balanced margarita. After our appetizers we ordered Ribeye tacos, Carnitas, and Chicken tinga to really try the variety. The carnitas was our favorite with ribeye coming next. We wouldn't order the chicken tinga again. I think the ribeye tacos could do without the pico as it was mostly just tomato and took away from the flavors of everything else. Lastly we ordered the churros which were delicious! Definitely would order again as they were hot and crispy. As the server dropped off our check we noticed that we hadn't been charged for the happy hour priced margaritas and churros. She told us that the Grande margaritas aren't on happy hour. When the happy hour clearly states they are. So after some back and forth she took the receipt to her manager. She brought pack the receipt with the corrected priced margaritas, but added another churros anywho it took about 20 mins just to close out. It took 3 separate times to get the correct check. It was just frustrating as we were wanting to leave. Over all I feel La Popular has a lot of room to improve with their menu and staff, I feel with time they'll become a staple in Redlands.

We ordered 3 Modelo Especial beer, 1 taco Gochujang Carnitas a la Carte, 3 Carnitas taco a la Carte, 3 Ribeye taco a la Carte, 1 Street Corn taco a la Carte, 1 Salsa tray, 1 Flan, 1 Butter Cake, 2 Coffee. The staff here were extraordinary and very helpful and attentive! The ambiance here was at first relatively noisy. When the two entertainers started to play it got louder. Overall the food and service provide was outstanding. Our server Elmer G was very Friendly and attentive.

Pretty good, but wouldn't come back that often. Decent prices, but of course not authentic. The staff they have are solid, and I loved the interior design. Our food came out cold and I wouldn't recommend any of their salads. Tacos were pretty good and every drink I tasted was really yummy. Nice place to take friends.

Everything I tried was fantastic! The food, ambience, and service were truly great. Thank you to Daniel my bartender for the great recommendations. He is very knowledgeable on spirits and makes some beautiful cocktails. He also told me all about The Agave Spirits Club which is honestly so cool, I've never seen a restaurant or bar do something like this before. I had a wonderful first experience and I'll definitely be coming back with friends and family next time!

I had an incredible experience at La Popular! The atmosphere was warm and inviting. I had the happy hour rib eye and chicken tinga. tacos and mmmm so delicious. I have to give a huge shoutout to Melissa, the bartender--she was amazing! She was so attentive, took the time to explain the menu, and made great recommendations. I'll definitely be coming back

First time I came, I brought my Son for his 21st birthday and we experienced it together which was so awesome. He appreciates the 90's and lives for video games, so it was up his alley. There are lots of vintage games to play, whether it was a game board, card game, video game or just to chill while you go down memory lane, you most definitely have options! It is a very thought out creative place and even their drinks, and food menu have a vibe on their own! I totally recommend ordering the adult lunchable special because it's a good snack starter and the best deal for your buck. It comes with a charcuterie style box with a cereal type dessert and two alcoholic drink pouches for one price. I really enjoy their smurf lagoon drink as well. The bartenders are quick even when it gets busy. Totally recommend to check this place out at least once!

When we arrived, there was a group of three ahead of us, which was completely fine. Once it was our turn, one of my friends made a lighthearted joke just to lighten the mood, that's simply his personality. The hostess immediately responded with a very dry attitude, which we brushed off at first. However, things only got worse from there. As we stood there waiting, multiple groups who arrived after us were suddenly being attended to first. She was checking their IDs, writing their names down on the iPad, and letting them in before us, even though we had clearly been waiting longer. We eventually approached her and asked why our IDs hadn't been checked or our names added yet. She responded by saying she had told us to wait in line, which never happened. None of us were ever directed to a line. From that point on, her tone became increasingly condescending and disrespectful. When I told her that she should speak to customers more respectfully, she mockingly grabbed her ear and said, "What? I can't hear you, it's loud in here," even though it was not loud at all. It felt extremely immature and unnecessary. She also made comments about being the "senior hostess," but honestly, that title means nothing if customers are being treated poorly. Everyone has bad days, but that does not justify taking it out on guests. My friends and I are not the type to complain or leave reviews, but the attitude and behavior we experienced were genuinely inappropriate and unprofessional. We ended up leaving without even going inside. Unfortunately we did not get her name. But she is a white female with blonde hair and glasses, wearing a pink and white Renaissance style outfit and distinctive floral inspired eyeliner makeup that went all the way to her hairline. I'll admit, I eventually became frustrated and felt the need to defend myself and my friends because of how we were being spoken to. I'm not proud that the interaction even reached that point, but the way we were treated felt unnecessarily rude, dismissive, and disrespectful from the beginning.

It's a perfect place for a date or a night out with friends or family. The focal point of the main dining room is the bar, which faces the restaurant's entrance. Meticulously designed with a nostalgic feel, the bar features blonde wood shelves holding hundreds of vinyl records, carefully curated design objects, and a DJ booth neatly tucked into a corner next to the bar. The beer taps are elegantly minimalist, and every detail in the bar--for example, the old-fashioned glass syrup bottles--seems planned to give a nod to history (specifically the late 19th century, when Redlands was founded). The main dining room offers plenty of comfortable seating choices, including a long bar along the center of the room. The patio is spacious and well kept. All of the spaces inside and out have music piped in from the bar. There are two restrooms just off the patio, and these are well-maintained. On busy nights, patrons can enjoy a drink in a standing bar area just off the patio. I love that the Overland provides a choice of setting depending on the kind of night you're planning. A romantic date? Get a reservation to sit inside, and it feels intimate. Just hanging out? The bar is fun as the mixologists make excellent drinks and friendly conversation. Sitting at the bar after 7 PM, you can watch the DJs spin the platters. If you have a larger group or just like to eat alfresco, the patio is perfect. The menu offers a really nice variety of drinks, including the pricier craft cocktails, more classic, moderately priced beverages, nonalcoholic drinks, and all sorts of beer and wine. The food menu is solid, with plenty of appetizers, salads, entrées, and a dessert. The real star is the tacos! These are very moderately priced at seven dollars apiece, and all three varieties are delicious! There is a potato taco, a beef taco, and pork chili Verde taco. I highly recommend these! The green salsa they provide is extremely mild, but they do have a variety of hot sauces on hand. It's worth mentioning that even a humble plate of tacos is served on nice ceramic dishes, along with good flatware and napkins. The espresso martini cheesecake is creamy and delicious, and the portion is really generous. The staff seem to enjoy working at the Overland. The servers work hard to make sure your order is to your liking, and food comes out pretty fast. There's a good sense of teamwork among them. The staff is also accommodating about seating or any special requests. We've been there on a busy Friday night, and on a Sunday evening and late night. The Overland is always at least moderately busy, so reservations are strongly recommended. The city of Redlands should be very proud of this establishment. Go and have fun!

We made reservations for four, and as soon as we arrived, we were seated right away, which was a great start. Unfortunately, I noticed a few cleanliness issues almost immediately. The tables were pretty dusty, and the glass water cups we were given still had food residue on them. One even had what looked like a lipstick mark on the rim. I let our waitress know, and she apologized and quickly brought us new glasses. Those were still dirty as well, with (food residue) so I asked if she could replace them again. After the third attempt, the glasses finally came out spotless. It seemed like there may have been an issue with the dishwasher filter?, but I really appreciated how kind and apologetic our waitress was throughout the entire situation. The drinks were good overall. I ordered a couple of nonalcoholic drinks, and they were refreshing and flavorful. We also tried the cheese fries and the fried onion, and both were really tasty. Overall, I'd give this place a 6/10. The rough start with the cleanliness definitely affected the experience, but the service helped make up for it. The staff genuinely seemed to care about making things right, and that went a long way. I absolutely loved the vibe and the music, and I think this place has a lot of potential. I'd definitely be willing to give it another try because I think it could be a great spot for a fun night out.

We seated ourselves at our favorite raised table in the corner on the far side of the bar. My husband and I stuck to traditional cocktails, and old fashioned and a Negroni. Our friends chose signature cocktails: the Turbo Granny and the Electric Feel. Now the Electric Feel was not just a drink, it was an experience. Our server explained to our friend that he should sip a little of the drink, then chew the Szechuan buzz bud for about 15 seconds, letting it coat his whole tongue, then enjoy the rest of the drink which would taste different afterwards. Our friend went through all those steps and said it was incredible, like all the flavors were enhanced along with different sensations in his mouth, kind of numb and tingly. His wife was not satisfied with his description of the experience, so she bought a Szechuan buzz bud for $2 and she said it was kind of like pop rocks. These buzz bud looks just like a little flower bud like the end of a dandelion once the seeds are blown away. It comes from a plant. Totally fascinating! We enjoyed our one cocktail each here and just had great conversation. It was a fun night because of the company, and also because we had a little adventure going to two amazing places!

We decided on weekend brunch, especially since there were endless mimosas. Our kids have a recollection of being down the class umbrella alleyway, so they were amazed when they saw it. A short while later, we were in front of the restaurant and were quickly seated by the staff. They didn't ask if we preferred outdoor or indoor seating, but we were seated inside right next to the kitchen. We heard that indoor seating was better for service anyway. The interior of the restaurant was "very fancy," and my daughter thought we were in a date spot. We knew we wanted French fries and opted for the garlic Parmesan fries. At first, the kids were weirded out by the arugula, but my daughter ended up enjoying it, noting the bitter and salty notes. My son devoured the entire plate (not the arugula) and asked for another round. We also ordered the lemon ricotta French toast, made from Brioche bread, lemon blackberry butter, whipped lemon ricotta cream, blackberries, mint, and maple syrup. They perfected the crispy exterior, which contrasted well with the fluffy bread. My wife ordered the breakfast pizza--a focaccia pizza topped with marinara, ham, spinach, fresh tomato, red onion, a sunny-side-up egg, and herb-infused maple syrup. This was really delicious with the tart, fresh tomatoes, the salty ham, and the sweet maple syrup. I ended up eating the sunny-side egg by itself, so we didn't get to try the pizza with the egg. Lastly, I ordered the steak and eggs, but it was sadly a small portion. I ordered it medium rare, and it came out medium. The seasoning was a bit strange and would have been better with simple salt, pepper, and garlic. The mimomas really made my wife happy. She started feeling it pretty quickly. She chose the pineapple juice while I got the traditional orange. Not sure if the alcohol made the food better or the other way around. I was brought to reality when I saw the expensive bill, though.

I ordered the shrimp Pad See Ew, and it was packed with flavor and came in a generous portion, which are two big things for me. I'd definitely recommend trying the Pad See Ew. The only downside for me has been the wait time for food. The first time I visited, my date and I actually had to leave because our food was taking a while and we had reservations for drinks elsewhere. When I asked for an update, they told us our order still hadn't gone in yet . This time, we stuck around, and while the food was worth it, the wait was still pretty long. Even with that, I'd definitely come back

Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the hype. Service was the main issue. The bartenders seemed inexperienced, and our server wasn't familiar with the drinks, often needing to check with someone else. It took about 20 minutes to receive our first round. Our reservation was at 10:30, we were seated until 10:40, and the place closes at midnight so timing already felt tight. Because of the wait, we asked to order two drinks at once for the next round, but were told it's limited to one at a time. That would be understandable if service were faster, but it took another 20 minutes to get the second drink. We were also told drinks from the regular menu take longer, so I tried one from the specialty menu...still a 20-minute wait. It was a frustrating experience. That said, the space itself is smaller and more intimate, which could make it a nice date spot. I do think this place has potential, and I'd consider giving it another chance, hopefully with smoother service next time. Oh Beignets were amazing!! Yummy little donuts!

When we walked into this speakeasy, behind a movable shelf, I was greatly disappointed by the size of this place. It literally was the size of a walk in closet. Probably a fifth of the size of the one in Rancho. The room was so small and cramped. We sat at the round tables which was small for 2 people, and they were spaced so close to each other. Another couple sat next to us and we could here their entire conversation. The space is just so cramped. Maybe 6 round tables with barely a foot apart. Then the bar top basically when someone is sitting there, theres less then a foot of space to go inbetween. The decor is beautiful. I did enjoy the library theme. Service here is a disappointment. There was inly 2 groups (including ourselves) when we arrived and service was excessively slow. On their featured cocktails which was the same as the one in Rancho (6 drinks?), they were already out of the first 2. And mind you, they've only been open for 2 hours. We asked them to prepare unique off the menu drinks. They basically gave us drinks from the main restaurant menu. Rum for the hills and an old fashion. The bartender at the Rancho location is so much better and nicer and way more creative. Able to create unique individual drinks off the top of his head. Not here though. She asked us what we were ordering at least times. And she still got our orders (food) wrong. The glass was sticky from the sugars. We ordered no grilled onions on the burger and it came with grilled onions. She was so unsure of what they carried (alcohol wise) that she had to go ask the other guy on multiple occasions. When the bill came, we didnt get a pen to sign it with. So we went to the bar area. The guy was a total A-hole. He was like what do you want? Woah guy. We're trying to give you more of our hard earned money via tip and sign this check so we can get the heck out of here. Like chill bro. We should be there ones angry with how bad the evening went. Not you. There were multiple flies flying around our table and food. A large fly, and then a small gnat around our drink. It was gross. Overall, it was a terrible experience here. There was mystique (I give you that, love the books). But nothing high end or exclusive about it. Usage of the space and their knowledge of the drinks reminds me of a run down dive bar. They need the bartender from Rancho to come here and revamp everything about this place. The only good thing here is that we were able to order burgers (full menu availability) in this speakeasy as suppose to the one in Victoria Gardens. But besides that, I am 100% not coming back. It just isnt worth it.

The mushroom appetizer is seasoned perfectly, with just a hint of spice on the backend. It is perfectly paired with focaccia bread to soak up the sauce. I had the month's special Lobster ravioli. The sauce was a great balance of tomato and creamy flavors, but a nitpick is that within the ravioli the cheese slightly overpowered the lobster. The staff were quick, friendly, and attentive. The ambiance is quite nice with soft, warm lighting and an interesting and fun mix of textures and colors. The wall of TVs above the bar unfortunately do break the ambiance to some extent, but they're easy to ignore. I have now added Madri to my short list of downtown Redlands go-to restaurants!
