Great food. I had three tacos the ribeye, carnitas, and tinga all of them where we'll balanced and delicious. Paired with an Agua fresca and a side of rice and beans brought the meal together. The star of the show was definitely the queso fundido with chorizo as the app. The servers were kinda and we'll informed. Muriah was very kind and made sure we were comfortable and our server Xo was great at checking in during the meal. Overall a place I will definitely return to. read more

I am so pleasantly surprised! I went in thinking it may be another overpriced Mexican restaurant in the Redlands area, but I would highly recommend as a fun downtown spot. My friend and I arrived around 12:30 on a Sunday and was given a 20-25 min wait. When it got to 40 mins, we went inside to check on the status of our table and then were immediately seated. (This is where they lost a star. Hosts have to be more accurate with wait times.) After seating though, our experience was great. Drinks are original and well balanced. Food is flavorful and well portioned for the price. Brunch menu is fairly extensive. Lots of options. I'm definitely excited to return for their lunch specials/dinner menu. And I love that they're already doing special events. Great to get connected to your community. read more

Pretty good for a Mexican sit down joint. It's supposed to be Mexico City inspired, and it's refined but with a sort of unmistakably chain-like polish that feels a little cheap. But the food is very not bad! I'd recommend anything Costra style -- it comes with grilled cheese on the outside. They have a really good mix of indulgent and fresh options. Try the Baja shrimp for something lighter; it's pretty standard, you can't go wrong there. For something more indulgent, try the quesabirria plate: braised short rib with a ton of cheese, served with consommé for dipping. For a vegetarian option, try the charro beans -- they have a bit of an Indian feel, a little spicy and very layered. Prices are also very reasonable here. read more

This is exactly the kind of restaurant our area has been missing! From the moment you walk in, you can tell a lot of thought went into the design. The décor is fresh, modern, and inviting with fun details like tropical wallpaper, natural textures, and even a disco ball that gives the space so much personality. It's a beautiful place to enjoy a meal. I've been back several times now, and the service has been consistently friendly and attentive. As for the food, I highly recommend the tacos! I've tried the tinga, corn, and grilled shrimp tacos, and the corn and grilled shrimp are definitely my favorites. I also stopped by for brunch and had the breakfast burrito, which was absolutely delicious. For drinks, I sampled the Spirit-Free Paloma and the Sonora Sunrise Spritz. The Spritz was my favorite, light, refreshing, and full of flavor. I also tried the Golazo Tropical Margarita. It was a little sweeter than I usually prefer, but if you enjoy guava, you'll probably love it since that flavor really shines through. One more bonus: parking is incredibly convenient. There's a nearby parking structure with plenty of spaces, making it easy to stop in without worrying about finding parking. Overall, this is a fantastic addition to the area. New spot in Redlands next to the new Eureka location. Walking in we had a 15 minute wait but two chairs inside for you to avoid the heat. Many other people came in after us and had to wait outside in the heat as there is really no waiting area inside so get there early. The greeters and servers were great and worth 5 stars. I had the LP Margarita which was pretty good. I also had the Ribeye taco, chicken tinga taco and carnitas taco. Tacos were ok and could use a little more meat for a happy hour price of $4.25. They serve with one corn tortilla which is ok for the meat tacos but not so much for the tinga. The juice caused the tortilla to break apart. They might want to think about doubling tortillas for the chicken. The salsa flight was actually a very good choice to get different types of salsas. The vibe inside is also pretty good with music playing in the background and people just have a great time. They offer a tequila club much like Eurekas whiskey club that gets you discounts and monthly tequila bottle at $85 a month. We elected not to become members. read more

So we walked in, we were greeted. The ambience inside is nice and welcoming. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They have TVs overlooking the bar, I don't know if they have TVs outside. We sat at the bar and ordered food and drinks. The food was excellent. We ordered the Ahi tuna tostada, which was so flavorful. I will definitely order this again and we also ordered the tri-tip tacos, the meat was so tender and flavorful again this is something I will definitely order again. The only downfall was the tacos was a combo so it did come with rice and beans which I can't not brag about due to the fact that they did not have a whole lot of flavor. A little disappointing. The overall experience was great all the bartenders at the bar, especially Kim, she's a bartender there, we're all great and very attentive. I will definitely come here again. You will be looking at least paying $20 for each plate of food. But you will have to go there as well to form your own opinion. Highly recommend. read more

Went for happy hour and tried their spicy margarita, ribeye taco, queso fundido, and guac. The ambiance is beautiful inside. It's very airy and spacious and great for a date night. The food is really good too. The margarita was strong, so beware! The ribeye taco had salsa and guacamole on it and was tender, though one taco was nearly five dollars- even during happy hour. The guacamole was balanced and I enjoyed the generous amount of lime in it. The queso was super rich and delicious too. read more

I went with my husband to the soft opening. The food is delicious! We love their house salsa and their chips come out fresh. We recommend the Ahi Tuna Tostada. We previously ate at the Claremont location and the vibe here is similar. La Popular does trendy twists on Mexican classics. Our server, Hannah J, was super attentive the entire time and made sure that we had enough drinks and chips. Parking in front of the restaurant is a little sparse, but there is a large parking structure just across the Metrolink tracks, and there is a pedestrian crossing that leads directly to the entrance of the restaurant. read more

La Popular is such a cute, trendy Mexican restaurant that I believe has the potential to become very popular. As we entered we were greeted by a warm welcome and smile by the host who quickly sat us. The environment is fun and upbeat with a great open floor plan. The biggest down side is they leave ALL the doors open on hot summer days so the restaurant is very very hot!! You'd be better off sitting outside with the misters. After we got sat we waited about 10 minutes to get greeted by a server who asked us if we've been helped out yet. We let her know we have not and she proceeded to take our order. It seems the staff is still learning the menu as they didn't have answers to a lot of questions and didn't know what the happy hour consisted of. We ordered Grande LP margaritas off the happy hour menu along with the queso fundido and guacamole. Both appetizers were fantastic! The margaritas tasted more like pure lime than a well balanced margarita. After our appetizers we ordered Ribeye tacos, Carnitas, and Chicken tinga to really try the variety. The carnitas was our favorite with ribeye coming next. We wouldn't order the chicken tinga again. I think the ribeye tacos could do without the pico as it was mostly just tomato and took away from the flavors of everything else. Lastly we ordered the churros which were delicious! Definitely would order again as they were hot and crispy. As the server dropped off our check we noticed that we hadn't been charged for the happy hour priced margaritas and churros. She told us that the Grande margaritas aren't on happy hour. When the happy hour clearly states they are. So after some back and forth she took the receipt to her manager. She brought pack the receipt with the corrected priced margaritas, but added another churros anywho it took about 20 mins just to close out. It took 3 separate times to get the correct check. It was just frustrating as we were wanting to leave. Over all I feel La Popular has a lot of room to improve with their menu and staff, I feel with time they'll become a staple in Redlands. read more

They offer aguas frescas in a more modern style, which was still enjoyable, and there is a nice variety of both non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, along with regular soft drinks. Adding an alcoholic version of the aguas frescas could be a great option. That said, the food was disappointing. It was fairly bland and did not have the authentic Mexican flavor I was expecting, especially given the restaurant's emphasis on its Mexican roots. The biggest issue, however, was the timing: the food took a long time to arrive, and some items were served cold. We attended their soft opening and were seated directly at a table for two ( note that you may need to make space on the smaller tables for all of the great food you are going to enjoy ) Jesus was our delightful waiter . He was communicative , polite and had a lot of great insights on the menu and offerings for their soft opening . We started with their salsa sampler and cheese dip. Great idea of serving different tortillas with the dip! I ordered the combo with two fish tacos and the suggested enchilada served with amazing beans and rice .My husband ordered the combo fajitas . Do not sleep on the steak fajitas . Cooked perfectly , served perfectly and you are pretty much able to cut it with just a fork it was so tender. Really excellent . We shared the churros for dessert and it was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. We sat at the bar which was beautiful! Had FIFA on but didn't give bar vibes nicely decorated throughout the property. Our bartender Cassie was super friendly and made recommendations throughout the menu-our personal favorite the salsa flight! Great recommendation and it comes with 4 generous size samples of salsa plus the heat level and description. Something fun to try on a date or just in general. We also had the fajitas (steak shrimp, carnitas taco, and ceviche. The ceviche was honestly amazing a lot of fish and not tomato, how I prefer it. The fajitas and tacos were good as well with the meat not being over done. It was just right. The drinks were delicious-margaritas that were clearly made with fresh ingredients. We asked Cassie about the tap because I've personally never seen a marg on tap. She happily explained how they make fresh batches of their top margaritas each day and how the system worked! I appreciated her knowing all the details about well everything we were curious about. The service was friendly, quick but not rushed and accommodating. I appriciate they use the handheld toast system to take orders and check you out. It was 4th of July and it seemed pretty busy but no wait for refills on waters or margaritas. I stopped by this place to try it out for the first time a couple of weeks ago with my 1 year old. We tried the mole enchiladas and she had the rice and beans off my plate. She really enjoyed watching the train go by every once in a while. I then went with my husband about a week after for Taco Tuesday. Their beef taco was delicious as well as the quesabirria plate. We also had the opportunity to try their house taco made of octopus which was done really well. Again my daughter loved watching the train go by and saying hi to everyone who passed by our table. The reason for only 3 stars out of 5 is because we had mentioned to our server that my daughter would just be sharing the rice and beans side dish with me. As the beans and rice came out first I proceeded to give her some thinking they were the same as the mole plate I had previously. I was VERY Wrong..my daughter started to yell which led me to look further into the food and noticed SERRANO peppers mixed in. I wish the server had mentioned this to me or that their menu states that it is spicy. I understand it's a new restaurant but that's what made me rate it less and then when I mentioned it to the manager they still proceeded to charge me for it. I really wanted to like this place but that's part of the service just did not sit well with me. read more

The staff 10/10 the hostesses greeted us with smiles and were so nice (we noticed the noise level immediately and asked if we could sit out on the patio and the hostess immediately rerouted us outside!), the food 10/10 (they have my husband's favorite dish "mole")the ambience 10/10 its right next to the parking structure at The Look parking lot ( right behind the Redlands Public Market) next to railroad track. Last night the weather was amazing and we enjoy it so much. I also FINALLY got to see the Redlands Public Market for the first time! It was such a fun space! They even have a Speakeasy in the basement which was cute! We will definitely be returning to dine at La Popular again!! Also, the Eureka Burger is in its new location right next door to La Popular and it is so nice!!!! I believe it's the same owner as La Popular! read more

We had such a great experience, and Lauro was a huge reason why. From the moment we sat down, he went above and beyond to make our dinner enjoyable. He took the time to walk us through the menu, gave thoughtful recommendations for both the food and drinks, and every suggestion was spot on. What really stood out was how attentive he was. He consistently checked on our table to make sure we had everything we needed without ever making us feel rushed or interrupted. I never once had to ask for a refill because he always noticed when our water glasses were getting low and refilled them before we even realized it. He also cleared away empty plates and glasses as soon as we were finished, which kept our table clean and comfortable throughout the meal. You can tell Lauro genuinely cares about providing great service. His attention to detail, kindness, and professionalism made our dining experience even better. The food was pretty good and the service was kind! The only thing to note is that it was REALLY loud inside. They had the music turned up to the point where I could barely hear my partner talking across the table. I wouldn't recommend coming here with a large group or anyone harder of hearing because of that: conversations would be stifled by the music. It might've just been because we came at nine pm, so I don't want to speak to what the volume is like all day, but if you're coming for late night happy hour, prepare for it to be quite loud. read more
