Grabbed breakfast here the other day. Eggs were pretty standard but the cafe con leche kicked ass.

While stuck in traffic due to street closures this morning, we saw this spot and decided to have breakfast here and you know what, I'm not mad about it at all. The service was so friendly and attentive the vibes are very casual - fast paced. Our server Alejandro was awesome even though it was busy he always checked in with us. The Menu is simple enough but with a lot of variations. We ended up ordering the 3 golpes (Domican breakfast) and a ham and cheese Mallorca with cafes con leche. Everything was delicious. I'm talking about I licked my fingers without realizing I was. If in the area you should definitely stop by.

Had two egg whites (ask for huevos claro) with a slice of American cheese. I love sitting at the counter here for a real local Breakfast!

Truly confused about all the rave reviews. On our last day in San Juan, my friend and I were looking for a local/ authentic breakfast spot and La Pradera popped up as highly recommended in our search. If you go on a weekday, you'll most likely have to park in the paid garage (it was about $2.75 per hour). We sat at the bar and quickly ordered a cafe con leche, French toast and scrambled eggs with ham. While the food was cheap, it was not as amazing as people described it. The coffee was strong which was good, but that's about it. The rest of the food, while not terrible, was nothing to write home about. At this point, I'd rather pay more money and get something tastier. And it just looked sloppy. Also, the employee helping us was rude. Despite the low prices, La Pradera was far from worth it for me.

Sorry I forgot the before! French toast before the after!

Food was fantastic, service impeccable, no wait, and prices are phenomenal! A bit hard to find according to Yelp instructions but it is a few doors down from the Subway. Parking on the side by the grocery store!

Great food nice and great flavor and staff. although we spoke little Spanish but I could understand it just confused our order a little at the end but no big deal.

Highly recommend this place for a quick bite with an espresso on the side! I love their espresso so much. For $2 I could drink it everyday. I love that they serve it with cane sugar! Such a good pair. Food - I ordered the cubano and it was so good... I just wish the pork and chicken was shredded. They used big chunks of meat which made it hard to chew but the bread was excellent. I was looking forward to their Dominican breakfast but it was not available. I tried calling ahead to ask but was not able to get a staff that understood me but that's ok.

Walked in here for some breakfast and was a little disappointed. Ordered a mallorca with eggs, ham, and cheese. I was expecting the bread to be toasted nice and hot so that the cheese would be nice and melted and the ham warm but instead it was lukewarm and for some reason had powdered sugar on it. I'm really not a fan of powdered sugar on a ham and egg sandwich. The Spanish farina or avena was very good and had a good taste to it. Was looking forward to the coffee but the lights went and that was the end of that. Overall I would try this place again for different breakfast items.

This gem of a "greasy spoon" eatery is a must for those staying in the Myanmar district of San Juan. The Cuban sandwich is one of the best we've ever had and the ham and cheddar omelet was delicious. Our waiter was fun and friendly, the ambience was inviting and comfortable. We followed tourist guidance and took our time. I highly recommend this "criollo" eatery for breakfast and lunch.

We sat down for dinner at 7:45 and did not receive our drinks until 8:20, even though we put in our order as soon as we sat down... and asked politely how much longer until our drinks would come out... twice. Food did not come out for an hour and half, it was cold by the time we got it. Mac and cheese is not great cold. The ribs are extremely overcooked and like eating beef jerky. Drinks were okay, but by the time we got them everyone's cocktails were watered down, as well as the soft drinks. The ambiance was not great either since everyone around us was visibly frustrated by the wait times and lack of service, a table across flagged the waitress multiple times to ask where their stuff was. The food was decent, but again, cold. The wait times were no joke. We wrapped up our 7:45 dinner around 10, simply because of how long it took to be served. Our waitress came to our table maybe 3 times total, we would have to stand and find her to figure out where our food/drinks were. They were also out of a good majority of items on the menu when we tried to order them. Overall I unfortunately don't recommend! Price, service, and food are not great.

This local family-owned restaurant was a hit with our entire group of four. I ordered the Super Bowl Scramble, and wow, was it delicious. It was loaded with ham, sausage, eggs, potatoes seasoned with rosemary (which I absolutely love), and plenty of melted cheese. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying. My friend ordered the Power Omelette, her husband had the Famous French Toast, and my husband chose the Ashford Special. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and was impressed with both the quality and the generous portions. I also had a fresh-squeezed orange juice, and it was absolutely delicious--fresh, sweet, and the perfect complement to breakfast. The portions are large, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We left full, happy, and glad we stopped in. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great breakfast!

I was so excited because I'd heard so many great things, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Be aware that this is a very small restaurant with only about 15-20 seats, so it fills up quickly. We arrived with no wait, but by the time we were eating, there was already a long line outside. Also, if you're in a hurry, this may not be the best choice. Everything is made fresh from scratch, so the food does take a while to come out. Service is definitely on island time, but once the food arrives, you'll understand why--it's well worth the wait. I ordered the California Surfer wrap, and wow...it was absolutely amazing! Everyone in our group raved about their meals, and the fresh-squeezed orange juice was out of this world. They have a lovely outdoor seating area, but we opted to sit inside for the ambiance, which turned out to be a great call. Service was excellent from start to finish. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive, and gave great recommendations. We decided to go all in on the $85 per person tasting menu. The food ranged from good to very good, and there was a *lot* of it. Standout dishes for me were the ceviche and the desserts, both of which were exceptional. The beef empanadas and breadfruit gnocchi were also highlights. My one criticism is that the tasting menu didn't feel particularly cohesive. We started with yellowfin tuna, moved on to wood-roasted fish, then suddenly shifted into Italian territory with breadfruit gnocchi in a rich buttery sauce before continuing on to beef steak and duck. Individually, many of the dishes were delicious, but together they felt more like a sampler of the restaurant's assortment of dishes rather than a thoughtfully sequenced tasting menu with a clear theme or progression. That said, the quality of the food, generous portions, and outstanding service made for a very enjoyable evening. If you're looking to experience a wide range of the kitchen's offerings, Cocina Abierta delivers.

The staff is knowledgeable and attentive. I suffer from severe food allergies but wanted to experience their tasting menu. My server spoke to the chef directly and then took the time to walk me through every option. I TRULY appreciated that they did not take anything off the menu but rather told me how they could adjust for my allergies. That is very rare and so very much appreciated that they went that extra mile for me. I highly recommend the tasting menu. It's 5 courses and they give you 3 options to choose from, within each course. And for the price ($85), a great value. Everything was delicious but I highly recommend the Breadfruit Gnocchi, Rainbow Runner Crudo, and Criollo Duck Mofongo. Chefs kiss!
