I stopped by this place finally to get my wife a cheese papausa. I never been to a Salvadoran place before but since I was next door getting my burger, I stopped by this place to get my wife her food. I came in the morning so they were not busy and I found parking just fine. There was a street vendor in the front of this place selling their own food as well. When I walked inside, I saw there is a line if you're going to order the hot or already made options. They also have bread, pastries and other things as well. It's like a market mixed with a food place. They even have an area to buy clothing as well. It took awhile for someone to come take my order, they were pretty slow like other people mention. When I told them I wanted just one cheese pupsasa, they told me it would take ten minutes to make it. I believe it took them longer because I waited for a while but when it was ready, I went to pay. My wife said the cheese papausa was good, she ate it when it was still hot and they give you some toppings along with red salsa as well. read more

La Tapachulteca replaced a Cocos which my family used to go to for many years. Since my mother realized Cocos is no longer there she was curious what replaced it. I am usually down for new places but with my mother, it is a whole different experience. First off she doesn't understand this is a Salvadoran restaurant and although you cant sit and eat inside, it is not a sit down restaurant. As you enter you'll see several sections of food items and snacks as you would find at a market. There is a queue for the hot foods that takes a while until its your turn to be served. While in line we were looking at the menu on their screens. The menu rotates a lil too fast for us since we are not sure what to order. My mother thought the order process would be like a Chinese take out were you order a base and a couple on entrees but I told her its not. As we were next to be served I asked how does the hot foods work? The immediate server didn't know English and needed someone else to assist. While the next server explained the jist, I relayed the message to my mother and asked her to pick one hot food item. The food items are not labeled so you would pretty much need to know what you are ordering by sight and experience. I believe what I chose for my mom was Ropa Vieja. Since I've never been here before I was a bit overwhelmed and just stuck with revuelta pupusas. I did ask for queso con loroco but I was told it would take 25 mins to make so I opted out. We did eat in their little eating area and while my mother seemed to enjoy her meal, it just wasn't exactly what she was expecting. The food is good but the service is very terrible and rude. It feels as if we're an inconvenience for placing an order. They had given us a tray that was wobbly and one of the drinks tipped spilling all on the table. When we had told the cashier they immediately had nothing to say. I'm just disappointed. read more

I usually go here for their tamales. They seem very nice and friendly but for the last few times that I was there they barely speak any English so make it hard for me to order or try anything news. The service is not the best but the food is really good. They also have free parking and they have RIGUAS, with cheese and queso fresco. Pupusas and many Salvadoran goodies. My favorite BEAN SOUP is on TUESDAY and it's sooooo good!! read more

Well, my wife and I went for an anatomy scan across the street and I had to wait. I remember this place as a Cocos back when I was younger. So I walked around to get lunch. Although i passed another place first that won me over I took a stroll and still walked in here. I felt like I was in a mercadito. They had produce on one section. Pan dulce at another section. Small otc "farmacia" on the other side. And the food on another. The food was like a lunch line, pre-made food options. I regret to have eaten already. Terrible experience with food. Food did not look fresh. Looked like it had been sitting out for hours. I had a "pan con pollo" the chicken had a foul smell and tasted odd. I asked to speak to the cook and she said that they'd been selling them all day and no one had complained. I took the plate over to them and they checked/smelled and they confirmed the chicken was spoiled. Within hours I got stomach cramps and now dealing with poisoning! I was craving this food for a while. So knowing I was going to go eat I went with high hopes, but when I got there it was definitely not a good experience. The food was cold, they have things sitting out without it being warmed up. I saw they had a sale on pupusas and asked for 6 they said it will take 1 1/2 hours. That's so ridiculous. I asked for a torreja and they said I will need to wait 10-15 minutes that was okay I paid and went to go eat my other food. Went up after 20 minutes and they said no one ever made my food.
