La Tapachulteca replaced a Cocos which my family used to go to for many years. Since my mother realized Cocos is no longer there she was curious what replaced it. I am usually down for new places but with my mother, it is a whole different experience. First off she doesn't understand this is a Salvadoran restaurant and although you cant sit and eat inside, it is not a sit down restaurant. As you enter you'll see several sections of food items and snacks as you would find at a market. There is a queue for the hot foods that takes a while until its your turn to be served. While in line we were looking at the menu on their screens. The menu rotates a lil too fast for us since we are not sure what to order. My mother thought the order process would be like a Chinese take out were you order a base and a couple on entrees but I told her its not. As we were next to be served I asked how does the hot foods work? The immediate server didn't know English and needed someone else to assist. While the next server explained the jist, I relayed the message to my mother and asked her to pick one hot food item. The food items are not labeled so you would pretty much need to know what you are ordering by sight and experience. I believe what I chose for my mom was Ropa Vieja. Since I've never been here before I was a bit overwhelmed and just stuck with revuelta pupusas. I did ask for queso con loroco but I was told it would take 25 mins to make so I opted out. We did eat in their little eating area and while my mother seemed to enjoy her meal, it just wasn't exactly what she was expecting. Maybe next time I'll have a better time creating an order for us with ease. Parking: private lot VERDICT: One and done

    Nuegados ???

1st off the place is like a market where the make food cafeteria style, lines can be tricky and they may take long making the food cold, pupusas was ok and the empanada de plantano and bean was ok too, kinda have to be quick to get a seat but not to bad but its not a quiet sit down , i went and got spices and bread and that was covinient, they also have breakfast plates may have to have a taste and second my review

Food is good, service is slow (all the girls look zoned out or mentally checked out LMAO). We came for lunch for their 99cent pupusas on Thursdays but wait time was one hour so we skipped out and got the ready to eat Panes con pollo. They have a lot to offer but they could be great if they had better service that was more attentive. Oh! And they don't offer to go menus. They said to look online or up on their prompts. I will say the outside is deceiving, given that the inside is filled with culture.

The service is not the best but the food is really good. They also have free parking and they have RIGUAS, with cheese and queso fresco. Pupusas and many Salvadoran goodies. My favorite BEAN SOUP is on TUESDAY and it's sooooo good!!

Good place. Do some shopping and eat at the same time. First timer here. Great atole and pupusas. Glad we came to try something new.

Juan was awesome -- very informative, even shared a little history of Pupusa's :) Nonetheless, the service was great but the food ** chefs kiss ** was phenomenal! We got 6 pupusa's -- 2 Bean & Cheese, 1 Pork & Cheese, 1 Al Pastor & Cheese, 1 Garlic & Cheese and 1 Asada & Cheese -- the garlic & cheese was our favorite, but all of them were phenomenal! Thank you, Juan, for the experience! I will be back!

We came a couple of months ago and had their loaded yucca fries with carne asada as well as some pupusas. The meat on our fries felt really low quality-- the best way I could describe it was it tasting like frozen hamburger meat-- and gave us indigestion for the rest of the night, which was really disappointing to experience. Today we unfortunately experienced some really rude service. My bf ordered a plain water and we were given a fresco ensalada (no big deal, he likes it) We don't eat pork and ordered fried yucca on its own, just yucca frita. We were given a plate of yucca con chicharron :( I told the service we just ordered yucca frita and we were told that we did not specify that for her. I explained that we don't eat pork so we sent it back and were met with a displeasing look. I said we didn't want to yucca anymore since we had a lot of food already and she said "the kitchen already made it." So I said it was fine but just the yucca this time and she came back with the same exact plate just without the chicharron-- no visible plate change. Needless to say for the price, decline in food quality, and rude service, it's not worth coming back. At least not for a while.

We started with the ensalada, which was refreshing and had just the right amount of sweetness. For pupusas, we ordered the revueltas, loroco con queso, and frijol con queso. We tried both corn and rice dough, and honestly, both were delicious. My personal favorite was the frijol con queso with the rice dough- so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The yuca frita was exactly how it should be: crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. The chicharrón was cooked perfectly as well, and the homemade green salsa that the sweet lady helping us made was the perfect addition. She was so kind, welcoming, and always had a friendly smile, which made the experience even better. Another thing that really stood out was how clean the restaurant is. It's spacious, with plenty of seating whether you're coming with a large group, your family, or just stopping by for a meal on your own. We absolutely loved this place and will definitely be back. Next time we're bringing my Salvadoran in-laws- I have a feeling this place will get their authenticity approval too! Spanish!

So many five star reviews, I'm here to add another!…read more Ordered online, picked up for lunch, what a treat! I got 3 pupusas revueltas to go. Service was quick, there is a big dining room with plenty of seating in case you want to dine in, looked very clean. Massive pupusas with a lot of filling, not one of those restaurants that give you nothing but masa, these pupusas were legit. They come with Curtido and the usual salsa roja. So much flavor packed into these things, these are some of the best pupusas I've ever had, good size and they do not cheap us out on filling. Definitely try em if you're in the area! Parking on the street, or in the back very limited in the alley.
