I chose a cocoa hazelnut tart( I can't for the life of me remember the Italian name). It was a good size and tasted delicious with subtle sweetness. I would say that the service was good, as my order was packed up nicely and quickly. Ambience seems great, especially since there was adequate seating for hungry customers. I stopped in for lattes and was honestly impressed by how rich, smooth, and fresh the coffee tasted--you can tell they really care about quality here. The bakery items were just as good, fresh and perfectly paired with the coffee. What I loved most though was the atmosphere. Stopped by recently and ordered a croissant, a salame pizza and a coffee. Overall, it was a mixed experience. The croissant fell short of expectations. The texture just wasn't right and it wasn't flaky. It leaned more on the chewy side which was a bit disappointing given that a plain croissant is a classic. The salame pizza needed more sauce and their drip coffee seemed a bit too light for my preference. The service was fast and they offer seating. The ambiance reminded me of a cafe I've been to in Venice. Very cute and cozy! Great vibes! read more

Opened three months ago, La Taza D'Oro is a slice of Italy in Union Square. The interior is colorful that feels pretty as one passes by. This morning I came here for lunch. Hot skim cappuccino and a slice of pizza. The coffee was lukewarm like it is in Europe but sone would complain. It was too milky for my liking and I far prefer it at Blue Bottle and Think Coffee. The pizza was not a good choice but I wasn't very hungry. The miniature raspberry tart was flavorful and enjoyable. Ecem the server was kind and Abby was pleasant. I plan to return to try more food. Real classic Italian outlet . And worth the attention. I tried the chestnut tart , very easy to fail with the chestnut cream , but they NAILED IT ! Excellent!!! When you walk in the cases of pastries and the bar area looks sooo good and pretty. Many people were here dinning in. I came in to get a cappuccino to go. The lady who took my order was nice though the way she said hi to me made it seem like she knew me like she had seen me before. It was a bit strange unless I don't recognize her I do not know her and she said to me welcome back. I never had been here before. Maybe I look like someone she knows or recognizes from the restaurant. Anyways, I had to wait a bit too long for a medium cappuccino. I saw a drink sitting on the counter.. I thought it was hot chocolate or something. After like 5-10 min I asked the lady if that was mine she did not know and asked one of the baristas... he said it was a decaf cappuccino and that is what I ordered.. he said to her he called it out three times and no one claimed it. It was weird because I was standing there the whole time and did not hear my drink being called. I don't know just the whole vibe of the place was a bit odd. I had the supreme displeasure of eating at this café on Friday (3/13/26), and I'm honestly very disappointed. I saw photos online beforehand and was genuinely excited to visit. The café itself is beautiful. All of the baked goods looked delicious, there was a nice variety of teas and coffee, the seating was comfortable with plenty of space, and the location is great. I want to preface this by saying that my negative experience was due to one single employee, a waitress. I don't know her name, but she appeared to be a woman in her early-to-mid 20s with long dark hair in a ponytail. All of the other employees I interacted with were kind and professional, and I had no issues with them. Unfortunately, this one waitress treated me so poorly that I ended up tearing up at the table and using the cloth napkins to dry my tears. I arrived around 5:00 PM because I was meeting a colleague there. I got there early so I could sit down and prepare. I was seated at the front table by the entrance on the cushioned bench. I had my leather laptop bag with me as well as a shopping bag from Barnes & Noble. When I sat down, I noticed that the two women seated beside me were placed in a space that seemed meant for a single person, and the seating arrangement looked a bit uncomfortable. I politely asked the waitress if it might be possible for me to move tables when one became available. In an exasperated tone she said, "When another table leaves, I can move you." I told her that was completely fine and that I wasn't in a rush. A moment later I noticed the women beside me were already asking for their check and getting ready to leave, so I told the waitress I would just stay where I was and apologized for any trouble. She audibly sighed, said "okay," and walked away. Feeling like I may have been a bother, I apologized again as she passed by. This time she rolled her eyes at me and kept walking. This is when the tears started to form in my eyes. At that point I was honestly shocked by the response. I waited for someone to take my order, but about 30 minutes passed and she never came back to my table once. Eventually I went to the counter and asked the barista if I should order there. He politely explained that the counter was only for takeout orders but said he would call the waitress over to help me. I thanked him and sat back down, but she still never came. Instead, another barista who had been working behind the counter came over to take my order. Later, a different employee (whom I hadn't seen before) delivered my food. He was extremely kind, by the way. The waitress in question didn't come back until another employee was already bringing my order over, at which point she suddenly appeared and asked if everything was okay. Considering she never even took my order and had ignored my table for nearly the entire time I was there, the gesture felt insincere and far too late. The entire situation was incredibly uncomfortable and upsetting. I truly hope the treatment I experienced was not racially motivated, but I couldn't help noticing that I was the only African American customer in the café at the time. It's unfortunate because the café itself seems lovely and the other staff members were kind and helpful. However, the behavior of this one employee completely ruined what should have been a pleasant visit. I hope management takes this seriously, because no customer should be treated this way. read more

Just stopped by this place to pick up two flat whites and two cornettos. It looks very inviting and the display case had some yummy looking pastries. So... the ambiance pulls you in a bit. The issues, first, you open the door and the music is blasting too loud. Second, the counter person took my order, but started helping someone else before she put my order in. Then she left the counter for around five minutes. Third, during this time the barista was making coffee orders ONE CUP at a time as slowly as a sloth!!! No sense of urgency!!! It felt as if he were brand new and should not have been at his post by himself yet. And there was a problem with the order he was working on. Finally counter person comes back with another person. He start taking orders. Counter person starts making my order. She gives me two flat whites where the shots were just plopped in (no finesse, nothing). I am there for 15-18 minutes when it should have been 6 minutes max! The coffee was bitter and the milk not hot. I spent over $20 plus tip and it was stressful, slow, and disorganized! Not a well oiled machine for sure! No one with skin in the game was handling the front of the house and there should have been!!! The Sfogliatine Crema was incredible. Would definitely go back for it. Espresso was also good. The ham and egg panini was ok. They had problems heating it but they finally got it hot and it was ok. We've been there 3 times. The first 2 times were good, mainly salads. But the 3rd time, we ordered the eggplant dish. It came out in less than 5 minutes and it was barely warm which means they microwaved it. Obviously not long enough. We were really disappointed and would have waited longer for our meal if it was cooked fresh. The 1st 2 times we were served bread when we sat down. The 3rd time we had to ask for it. My wife and I only ate half of it because we were hungry, then the server gave us a doggie bag that we didn't ask for. We threw it away on the way home. A $40 lunch mistake.
