I ate at this restaurant last night and became very ill when I was served my entrée which was clams I could immediately tell they were at least three weeks old , and 20 minutes over cooked. How do I know this? I have a house in Montauk and I pick fresh clams out of the bay every single weekend so I know what they taste like days old ,A week old and in fact right out of the water fresh. Guess I got spoiled but never have I ever been served a dish of rotten clams. Specially in a restaurant that claims to be five stars. Gross. read more

I have tried La Terrazza a couple of times recently and I just don't get the "wow factor" here. I feel closed off in one of the dining rooms and it is a bit pricey for what you get. Perhaps sitting out on the patio would change the way I think. I will try again and we will see if there is an improvement. This was probably the worst meal we ever had .our waitress was very professional. Service was excellent. The chief needs new recipes. Calamari was frozen . Both pasta dishes was inedible. A few months ago we attended a funeral for a fallen Marine at a funeral home down the street. The owners of this restaurant invited the family and friends of the young Marine to dine at the restaurant the first evening of the wake. They served a four course meal - free of charge - to over 20 mourners! This is the kind of thing that restores your faith in humanity. They are a business that deserves to be supported! La Terrazza is our favorite restaurant in Rockland County. Everything is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS from the bread to the dessert. My absolute favorite is their Chicken Cordon Bleu. You will never find better anywhere!!! My family and I decided to have a large family lunch here just after the holidays to get together and see each other. I believe there was 19 of us in the room off the lobby. We have had family functions here before. We had one waitress taking care of us, which was fine, but she was completely unfriendly, rude and simply awful. You could tell she was mad that we weren't interested in appetizers, drinks and desserts (we had plans for dessert and there aren't many drinkers). I ordered the eggplant parm and it was terrible. I couldn't even eat it, because it tasted freezer burned. My partner had the tortellini carbonara and thankfully his was good because we basically ended up eating his entree together. You can tell they use bland dried pasta in their dishes, but the bruschetta they provided was good (probably the only highlight of the meal). Other members of the family seemed to enjoy their dishes but we couldn't get over the rude waitress. The rude waitress even received a 20+ percent tip from the family, even though she didn't deserve it. I don't know why they didn't add the gratuity into our bill for such a large party but they didn't. We will not be having family functions at this restaurant again. I'm sure you can find better Italian elsewhere with friendlier service in the area. read more

one star only for presentation - which is great. had the salmon and was beyond sick for two days. it was not fresh. for such an overpriced place, you should not only be entertaining the customer with presentation; but you should be serving fine and FRESH food that is not going to make me throw it up within the same day. too much info, but never coming back. read more

We come here at least twice a month. It's always packed, as the food quality is excellent. The owner is very nice as is the bartender. One of the best places to get Italian food in Rockland County; the service is impeccable, the owner is incredibly friendly and the food is delicious. It can get crowded during holidays and on certain nights but it's easy to get a reservation and quick seating if you call ahead. The restaurant was renovated several years ago after a fire and is very beautiful on the inside. My entire family has been coming here for years and will continue to in the future! read more

I've tried the majority of Italian restaurants in the county and keep coming back to LaTerrazza. The owners always make me feel like I'm coming home for dinner. There food is always prepared perfectly and it is one of the most relaxing places to dine. The portions are great and the quality is the best around. They go out of there way to please. I just love there own house dressing. They also have take out food which is wrapped to go perfectly so you can enjoy it at home as you do in the restaurant. We've had family parties there to and everytime has been great. I strong reccomend this place and when you make a reservation, unlike other restaurants, they keep them. read more

Just came back from dinner with family of 10. Service was poor. Food was less than average. App of fried calamari was not crispy, overcooked & tasteless! Chicken Marsala had to be sent back. Way too salty & tasted like canned brown sauce from a jar....NOT made with Marsala wine. Replaced with chicken picatta, chicken was tough & this time NO salt was put in so it was way too bland. Also everyone else finished their dinner by the time mine came. Broccoli rabe was also way over salted, no one was able to eat that either. On special was double pork chop with marsala sauce, meat was way over cooked and same horrible salty canned brown sauce was on top. We had several bottles of wine and 6 deserts with espresso/cappachino, bill came well over $400. We will NOT be returning. They didn't even bother to adjust the bill to compensate for the bad food & service. read more

I have been to this restaurant a few times. Each time I have gone and eaten there I have found the food to be just okay, but I have found the owner and several of the wait staff to be particularly rude. I went in on one occasion with a large party, including a sleeping baby in a stroller and he refused to seat me with the stroller. I think he forgets that he is part of a family community. If you have a family and are looking for a restaurant that appreciates your patronage, this is not the place to go. I rarely post on sites like this, but I truly feel that this is a place to avoid. There are lots of wonderful restaurants in New City that appreciate the community. This restaurant has lost my business. read more

food ok. Its a shame. went to a couple of parties there and always had a good experience. Went there with another couple on a Saturday night. We were drinking and having a great time, and some at my table were probably a bit loud. A couple young knuckleheads were sitting next to us and complained that we were loud. The owner or manager asked us to be quiet. My friend had an issue with his food, so he asked for the check to be adjusted and was told what else do you want, we took your food back. ugh read more

Yesterday 8/28/2014 was the last time my family and I got to say goodbye to our beautiful mother, grandmother and aunt. My sister and I planned an after funeral dinner at la Terraza. What a mistake that was. From the very beginning the staff was rude to my family who had walked over before my brothers, sister and I did. They said, "they weren't ready for us, and did not want us sitting down". Not like they had arrived early. They knew we were coming at 8:00pm. Then, the food was cold, there were constant rude comments from the wait staff and there were missing pastries. After confronting the owner about the missing pastries, he was rude and adamant about how they wee placed on the tables. After surveying 44 people all knowing what a pastry looked like, we all agreed we hadn't seen, smelled or tasted one. After going back to the owner and explaining this to him, he continued his rudeness until, to appease me went in the kitchen to look for himself. Well, lo and behold the pastries began to filter out on trays. The waitress said that John was really sorry and apologizes. Since he was So vehement about the pastries being placed out in the beginning, I wanted a face to face apology. He finally surfaced from the back and did apologize. Now to those of you who may be thinking this is no big deal, please remember that I just lost my mom, which the owner was very well aware of. I didn't need this undue stress to end this long, sorrowful day. Needless to say, I will NEVER go back!, I know a lot of people in the community and I will NEVER recommend patronizing this establishment. Shame on you and your staff! read more

Four of us were there for dinner on Friday, January 16th. From the moment we were seated, the waitress had an attitude and was very direct. It took a while for her to come back and take our drink orders and, when we asked for very little ice in our drinks, of course, they came with tons of it. I'm tired of paying for ice instead of the liquor. The appetizers were mediocre -- the mozzarella which was supposed to be fried (like spedini) came out lukewarm and not much taste. When my friend wanted spaghetti, he was told they don't have any -- just linguini or angel hair. Whoever heard of an Italian restaurant without spaghetti. Te "shrimp" soup -- hello, where was the shrimp? Totally tasteless. The entrees were ok -- nothing special. Also, we were directly under a vent that constantly blew out cool air -- not too much fun when it was about 12 F outside. The decor is very nice but I can't eat atmosphere. Went to dinner yesterday for a birthday celebration (Against my better judgement-because I had been disappointed twice before). Can't speak for the other's experience although their faces did not show much happiness, but my food was AWFUL. I asked for lemon wedges for my water and they were all red- I am hoping it was because they were squished next to the cherries at the bar but nonetheless not a good way to start. There is a choice of soup or salad and upon hearing the soup was Onion, I was excited as it is my favorite. I have no clue how anyone can get away with calling this thing soup and less idea of how they have the nerve to serve it to their patrons. It was a cup of Oily water with a few slices of onions. No cheese, no croutons, no taste. My entree was "Pasta Norma"- with roasted eggplant and mozzarella. Eggplant was not roasted but instead under cooked. Mozzarella was in CHUNKS so huge I only dare eat it because I knew there were people in my party that know CPR. The food was lukewarm, and the sauce was bland and watery. I asked waitress for extra bread as I was still hungry from NOT eating but unfortunately she never return with any, did not make a big deal as at this point I am dying to leave to come home and eat a bowl of cereal. Please note about 30 mins into us being there we were the ONLY ones in that room (mystery solved) so can't blame this disaster on being busy..To top it all of the bill was mighty hefty.. Needless to say NOT ever coming back here, do yourself a favor trust me on this one... Save your money and your time. read more
